#just thinking about it has me shaking i genuinely cant fathom it#i’ve been waiting for nearly 3 years like even though i listened to long lost the day it dropped and listened to the singles as they dropped#i wasn’t ~there~ for alive from whispering pines or super invested yet (long lost is what got me in lol) so this is like my first official#album release as a fan like waiting for the tidbits and sitting down at midnight and playing the entire album through and sobbing#and i just cant fathom 10+ new songs all at once. after 3 years of crumbs and 1 song a year (for which i’m grateful!) it’s so overwhelming

#1989 was the first album release i was a fan for#it was wild!#it came out during my school vacation & my best friend was staying over#& i patiently waited for my cd to arrive to listen to it w her#i also remember tearing up when reading the prologue#bc the album came out at a time when i was feeling rlly shitty#& the prologue made me feel so comforted#as much as i say i don't listen to the album much anymore it was SO important for my ✨mental survival✨ as a teen#& the memories i hold w clean alone could fill an entire book tbh#i honestly don't know how i would've survived without that song

the only thing i'm not looking forward to is all the new ways people will use this new album to villainize joe, like unfollowing a few blogs helped but it's not 100 percent gonna get me away from that shit
#it's like six years of being up his ass with no real reason except your speculation#and now entirely hating him with no real reason except your speculation#and really and truly no matter how you look at it whether the relationship was real or not dude put up with so much FOR SIX YEARS#i think with a lot of dudes i just didn't really care ofc at the time of the first four album releases i didn't know who they were about#or knew and still thought at that point that those relationships were real and assumed anything said about them was deserved#then haylor happened and at least the original didn't really do much to villainize him though 1d fans took it that way#but some of the vault tracks did and like i never had a problem with how swifties talked about him bc most of them liked haylor#but after the tv release i saw some shit i really did not like and it's like omg this was a decade ago y'all#it's just like. idk talk shit about the ones who are clearly assholes outside of their relationships with taylor#otherwise stop assuming the worst bc of a few fucking song lyrics my god

#also really hope louis’ team has something up their sleeves to get fan excitement up for the release week because boy is this weak and they#really should do better to ramp it up#post tiktoks with tiny snippets of the songs and having the fans guess what song it is for example#or something to boost fan engagement because ive been through many impending album releases in this fandom and this is not it#the excitement is quite mild#they did a big push for bigger than me and a lot of it seemed to me to be for promo rather than for the single#there was scarcely anything new for out of my system in the sense that the questions are still the same as they were for btm#they are circulating the same old and it’s not interesting for many people to watch and then they manage to sneak in babygate always and in#quite ridiculous senses like him listening the album first and stuff and while i still think there’s a reason for this (and i’ve spoken#about what i think may be happening with that and with the reasons for it before so i’ll not repeat myself)#but it just alienates more and more people and with the promo being repetitive there’s nothing much to outweight it for many people#and unfortunately since louis himself is saying he does not care for charts the fans are not very motivated to stream and do listening#parties as they used to be when getting to number 1 was encouraged and by the boys and desirable#plus imho they messed up the tour announcement and sale which shouldve come after the album comes out because people will know what they’re#buying tickets for#but anyway i wonder whether there’s something up still with sabotage of louis and radios not playing him and stuff#because despite the emphasis on him being free and in control there are so many old patterns recurring that it’s incongruent#im really excited for the album and the music and the direction louis is going to take artistically and creatively#but some things about his promo still seem very off#especially knowing what an astute businessman he is and just how deep an understanding he has#of his fanbase as well as the GP and marketing#also i really do think it’s purposeful they’re building on chicago and danielle associations and ramping up babygate and that E is out#for good

#i had the hardest time picking a the 1975 song#cuz i like all the songs a lot but i also dont feel like ive spent long enough with the songs to make a year end list#but i did listen to Happiness a LOT before the album came out so yeah#Picking a song for AM tho was surprisingly easy like i love all the songs on the car but Mr Schwartz is the stand out for me#also i feel like i need to say yes i did learn about Bag Habits from a tiktok video a friend sent me but i have listened to the full song#ive listened to it many times like as i went to listen to it on youtube i was like uh-oh is this a tiktok song?!#unfortunately its the only song of his i listen to so am i really that much better then his mostly silent concert crowds#my top song was soo easy to pick if youve never listened to Sarah Kinsley i highly recommend checking her stuff out#she only has eps and singles out so far but i cannot wait until she releases a full album hopefully next year maybe#i mean i highly recommend checking out all these songs/artist but her the most#Also not to be a Vampire Weekend stan but Ezzy really mad the Phoenix song for me#like him being a part of it was perfection#i wish i could tell 13 year old fledgling indie fan me about this song#my post#ive had this post in my drafts since like mid December but i just havent gotten around to finishing this#i hope no one minds i tagged them#i tagged friends and then the first few mutuals in my activity!!

As someone who in the grand scheme of things is a newer fan the posts about fake fans are kinda hilarious bc I think some of y'all forget there was a middle ground in 2016 between dragging her and bullying fans or defending her life (casually enjoying her radio singles but mostly having no idea anything was going on until rep actually came out bc you were too busy listening to exclusively musical theatre and your primary form of social media was Pinterest) (it's me, hi)
