There are so many scenes that I could talk about for ages (including ones in chapters that haven't been posted yet that I am so desperately excited to get to) but after much deliberation, and in honor of Blackevans BFF week, I would love to discuss a little moment that takes place in Chapter 18!
Under the cut for KSFM Chapter 18 spoilers and length :)
There are a LOT of things in canon that break my heart, especially when it comes to James, Lily, and Sirius, but the idea of Sirius showing up in Godric's Hollow on that night is possibly the most heart-wrenching.
It's an idea that's too painful for me to fully wrap my brain around...the idea of walking into the home of the three most important people in the world to you and finding them like that. I have people in my life who I love just as much and I refuse to even fathom that idea of losing them at all, let alone finding them in this way.
And I think, far too often, Sirius running after Peter that night is painted as an example of him just being reckless/impulsive. Which, sure, there's an element of that, but it's so much deeper than that too. It's very telling to me that Sirius's first reaction is to try to get Hagrid to give Harry to him...to promise that he would look after Harry...to do everything he could in that absolutely awful moment to fulfill his most important promise to his best friends.
It's only after Hagrid repeatedly refuses, when Sirius is left with no further options short of trying to take Harry away by force (which wasn't really an option considering Hagrid was holding him and Sirius wouldn't've done anything that could've possibly gotten Harry injured), that he finally starts thinking about Peter.
So basically to me, Sirius going after Peter that night was not an act of impulsivity, but an act of hopelessness. He'd just lost his entire remaining family in one fell swoop — he blamed himself for it — and so he no longer cared what happened to him. Grief and revenge was all he had left.
So here, in KSFM, there's of course this twist that Lily was actually alive when Sirius found her. But Sirius didn't know that, because he'd just walked into the house to find it half-destroyed, with his best friend lying dead on the stairs. I'm sure Sirius's first reaction to that would've been denial, and he would've taken the time to try and wake James only to be slapped in the face with the realization that that was impossible. So by the time he made it upstairs in a haze of horror and shock and found Lily sprawled on the floor of the nursery, with Harry crying in Hagrid's arms...well it wouldn't be unreasonable for him to automatically assume he's lost her as well.
Ouch.
But imagine if he had taken the time to check her pulse? Imagine if he'd discovered that Lily was alive, that there was still a glimmer of hope? He still would've been deliriously miserable and grief-stricken about James, of course, but Lily was one of his best friends too, so I fully believe that thoughts of Peter would've been far from his mind in that moment. That his reaction would have been something along the lines of — Lily's still alive...we have to save Lily...and he wouldn't have left her side until she got the medical attention she needed. Because James was gone, but goddamn it he wouldn't lose Lily too. It would've been something he could've held onto, in the worst night of his life.
If you extend that hypothetical, I don't know what would've happened next. Because Lily still wouldn't have woken until years later, and she was the one who knew he wasn't the Secret Keeper. Maybe he would've gone after Peter once it became clear she wasn't waking up anytime soon, maybe he wouldn't have, but him taking the time to care for Lily and get her medical help would've surely raised some eyebrows and cast dispersions on the theory that he was some heartless traitor/Death Eater who wanted the Potters dead. It might have been enough to get him a trial, at the very least.
So anyway, sorry, back to this Chapter 18 moment. Sirius is grappling with the guilt of this...with the idea that Harry's life might've ended up being very different if only Sirius had known that Lily was still alive. I think he tells Lily that because he can see that she feels so much crushing guilt for not having her wand that night, and he wants to take that pain away from her — put it on himself instead.
When he tells her all this, it's a confession. He expects Lily to hate him for this as much as he does, but instead — she meets his forgiveness with forgiveness of her own. She feels nothing but compassion at the thought of how much pain and misery her friend felt that fateful Halloween, so she reaches out to him with assurances and comfort that she's alive, she's still alive, and dwelling on the guilt doesn't help either of them so long as they learn from their mistakes.
It doesn't solve everything, obviously. They are both still riddled with guilt and grief about James, but this moment is them dealing with the fact that they're not alone in it.
Oh, also that little moment when Lily shows Sirius how to check her pulse? That might be important later. That's all I'll say😏

hiii dearest author! I got ill, so I wasn't able to send a reaction about the recent update (my mind is quite foggy and typing in proper english is challenging me rn...I'm a bit conscious with my grammar and stuff 🫣) buuuut seeing that long ass ask/ criticism about your work fueled me up to send this ask 🤧
first, I want you to know that you're doing great! I've been with you as a reader for over a year now, and all the waiting is honestly worth it.
second, I hope that comment won't deter you from your writing. If anyone finds that your story is not their cup of tea, then don't drink it. Just stop?
third, I might be getting too defensive because I'm just really riled up rn hahaha life outside tumblr was being a bish and when I checked my tumblr, I saw that long ass post... you don't do that to my fave author 🤨 I haven't thought about cmar y/n being an angsty teen or what. Maybe it comes with experience (and what I've studied), but some people can really be emotionless when you push them too far.
Lastly, NAKYUM!!! I won't say too much jic some didn't read the long ass ask, but can I just say that I hope Y/N finds an ally with alexander? I know karl's his son...but we can hope, right? Alexander seems to be sensible and would be a great ally 😅

first of all happy birthday!! i hope your day goes wonderfully with nothing but sweetness and happiness because you deserve nothing but the best.
i guess i understand a bit of the criticism but it's as you said, if it's not your cup of tea, don't drink it. sometimes i read something and come to love it until the characters make certain decisions that don't really resonate well with me so i just stop reading it to keep my blood pressure leveled lmao. i mean obviously cmar isn't for just anyone but it does kind of get a bit old when people criticize my y/n for the way that she is and she can't really fix that because of the circumstances in her life.
like in the beginning, someone complained about y/n a doormat and letting everyone walk on her and that she should just stand up and grow some confidence. and now it's being said that she should stop wailing in her pain all the time and just get to the healing part already and it just puts me a bit off guard because like...in the real world, you can't just...pick yourself up because you want to? that's not how things work? and writing things unrealistically is a little....not really my cup of tea when it comes to dealing with trauma and stuff.
also i had a bit of a fear a few months ago when i thought cmar was gonna get to at least 30 chapters because there may be people who don't like long series and the wait being too much for them but honestly i don't really care anymore. at the end of the day, they don't have to read it and wait, you know? and i've had almost everything planned out since i decided to make cmar a series so i'm not gonna cut out certain things just to satisfy people because personally for me, there are certain things that needs to be addressed before y/n does head off to her healing arc.
if people don't wanna wait, they don't have to wait.
if i make alexander into an ally, our girl's gonna have big international connections oop- 🤭

Hi!!! So, I’m wrapping up finals this week and I decided to procrastinate studying by figuring out with Taylor Swift song would match the progression of WSNE 🥰🥰 HERE ME OUT!! start out with Enchanted because just yes (and I read it was ur fav 🤪) then follow it up with some Begin again because Tom is a crusty motherfucker and didn’t deserve her so THATS why she said Aaron’s name instead of his 🤪 (as she should... she got hit for it tho 😖). Next up, some treacherous because Emily is JADED as HELL, but then we have the ✨turning period✨ where she (THEY) can’t help herself SO we have ... gold rush, delicate, DRESS, so it goes, false god, WILDEST DREAMS, cruel summer, I know places (because they are sneaking) - this is probably like sneaking office time/outside garden vibes, good montage vibes🤩 UP NEXT is when they are in too deep so I was thinking daylight, you are in love, cowboy like me,red, and hoax. After that is the ANGSTY angst like chapter 30 angst. I was thinking last kiss because PAIN, should’ve said no because PAIN, you’re not sorry, forever and always PAINO VERSION because extra pain, all you had to do was stay but slowed down because it is actually a super sad song, back to December, death by a thousand cuts, all too well because it’s a classic, champagne problems because pain, the one, and right where you left me because it fits heartbroken Emily SO WELL. For Doyle I’m thinking gorgeous because that is the only that comes to mind when I see Ian maybe illicit affairs oooOoo and maybe haunted ~acoustic~ and cold as you for some old TS and if this was a movie because Emily can’t get over Aaron even when she has Ian. For when Emily goes back to the states we have everything has changed obviously, august, exile, and closure because they are fools faking it, ivy because hotch is married 🤡🤡, my tears ricochet, this is me trying 😖😖, Coney Island. Then for Haley, I was thinking tolerate it because I feel bad that she was just a side in the glorious love story that is Aaron and Emily 🙈Then honestly just repeat the same angsty songs again because they can’t seem to get it together but then for the finale I’m thinking Cornelia street, New Year’s Day, daylight again oops, and then final FINAL song is invisible string. Hi hi! WOW! ♥️ Okay first of all, I approve of color coding in all forms. My life is color coded to the nth degree, and this makes me so happy. The Enchanted connection is my favorite, because oh, I love that song fiercely and I have for like ten years so there’s that. WILDEST DREAMS montage during “those” chapters (I know exactly what you’re referring to). Forever and Always piano version is now on repeat for the rest of my night because PAIN like you said, along with Back to December. This is all so perfectly done and I am impressed by your knowledge of Taylor/WSNE parallels. I love August, Exile, and Ivy too - “fools faking it.” Might make that a wsne story tag, in all honestly, and Invisible String is sublimely wonderful You my friend are a gift of a reader - this is the kind of thing I live for, and not just because it’s Taylor. I love the time and thought you put into this - I am honored and flattered. I hope your finals go well for you! I will now be listening to Taylor for the rest of the night. 💓

Um, important question!! Thanks to you (and two other Skam-fam ppl but they post less, aha) putting them on my dash, I've become invested in Mickey and Ian despite myself, ajsjk. Now, I'm not masochistic enough to watch the entire show for them because I've also heard it's a garbage fire for long periods of time BUT I was thinking of watching a supercut of their scenes? My question is are there whole seasons I shouldn't even bother to watch their scenes from since they're just upsetting/ooc?
hahaha welcome to the dark side! that’s exactly how i got sucked into this mess back in s4, saw a ton of gifs all over my dash and got completely invested w/o having watched even one scene. I KNOW WHAT YOU’RE GOING THROUGH 😛 you’ve heard correctly, it really is a garbage fire for long periods of time, especially in recent years it’s become a shitshow. i *did* enjoy a lot of it (as in not just ian/mickey scenes) in the early seasons, tho there were still problematic elements back then too, and it’s possible i’m mostly remembering the good stuff bc so much time has passed since then. but since the only *good* thing nowadays is ian/mickey and the rest is mostly blah, it’s probably better, easier and less time consuming if you just watch their story instead of catching up with 10 full seasons (or even just 5 seasons).
do you already have a link to a supercut of their scenes? if not, there’s this one on youtube (part 1 + part 2) that covers s1-s5 pretty well i think. if you watch that, i think you’ve got most things covered. if s10 hadn’t happened i would’ve told you to just stop there, or just not bother at all tbh, but things are less upsetting now that mickey is back and they’re getting their happy ending, so look up “gallavich seasons 6-9” and you should have all the relevant stuff from those seasons too (it’s not a whole lot, sadly). as for s10, i haven’t watched a spercut, i just play the whole ep and fast forward to the ian and mickey stuff hah, but maybe this will do? (can’t promise it has every little scene tho since i haven’t watched it!)
to answer your question, since i’m not sure i *really* have yet oops - no, there aren’t any whole seasons you can just skip their scenes. s1-s5 are all important bc that’s peak gallavich; s6 only has one scene in the first ep that tbh i never bothered watching bc it’s bs so feel free to skip that one, idt you’ll miss anything; there are only a couple of eps in s7, it was angsty back then but like i said it’s better now that you know that wasn’t the end for them and their story continues so i think it’s worth a watch; and just one scene in s9 that’s worth watching too. so basically just skip the s6 one, haha. other than that, watch it all. just keep in mind that it’s absolutely NOTHING like evak, otherwise you’ll be highly disappointed!!! there’s a lot of angst and heavy dark stuff and problematic elements to their story, but personally i think it’s worth it, if only for mickey milkovich aka one of the most iconic characters ever

OUAT 3x04: Rewatch Liveblog
Hey guys! I'm back again with another rewatch liveblog. Man, I'm kinda storming through S3 so far, due to the lack of Killian whump in a lot of these early episodes. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll make up for that by spending a quarter of a century on the next episode :P
But before THAT episode, we have THIS one! It's episode 3x04, and it's called "Nasty Habits". Unfortunately, none of those habits seem to be torturing pirates, because there's only some Killian angst in this one.

True Story: I meant to do this rewatch post the other day, but when I sat down to watch the episode, it turned out my copy of 3x04 was somehow episode 4 of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, so I had to go online and re-download the right episode, because of course I’m too lazy to rip my own videos. I just download them like the dirty pirate I am. Yarrrrrr.
Anyway, this episode seems to have slightly longer black breaks where the commercials were. Weird. Anyway...
