you woke up to the sound of your alarm blasting your ear off, if you hadn’t turned it off right there you probably would have gone deaf.
george was sleeping like a baby beside you, you could hear his quiet snores. you were surprised he didn’t wake up to the sound of your ear-piercing alarm.
turning on your phone, you glanced at the time that read 12:30. you sighed in annoyance as you registered that you only had half an hour before you had to be on your way to university. so you got up and began your normal morning routine, brush your teeth, shower, have breakfast and finally get dressed. however, as you were packing your bag, almost ready to go, you received a notification from your [sibling]
[y/s/n]: we’re 5 minutes away!!!
[y/s/n]: thank you so much for agreeing to do this :)
fuck.
it completely slipped your mind. you had promised to take care of [y/n/n] for today, your 7 year old niece, while your [sibling] was at their job interview. regardless, you texted them a quick ‘no problem’ before rushing upstairs to wake up george.
he was still sleeping, but now he was completely hiding under the covers with one arm sticking out. you hated to interrupt his beauty sleep but this was more important. you began to shake him awake.
“babe,” you shook him
“wake up,”
“george,” you removed the covers off his face
“wake the fuck up!” you started poking his sides. usually, you would be a little less... harsh, but you were panicking.
finally the boy rose from his slumber, groaning and stretching all his limbs. he blinked a couple times before meeting your eyes
“good morning,” he said softly, as if he completely just disregarded your tone of desperation and worry.
you pulled him by his arm and he sat upright,
“you need to get up right now,” you told him
“what’s going on?” he questioned, clearly confused as you weren’t giving him any context
“you need to take care of [y/n/n] for today, i have classes today, and i need to leave in 5 minutes and [y/s/n] has a job interview and there’s nobody else to take care of her,” you rushed out all in once sentence.
“are you serious?” he narrowed his eyes at you. “you know how bad i am with kids, especially [y/n/n] , she hates me,”
that was partly true. unfortunately, your niece wasn’t exactly fond of george. ever since you even started dating,m, [y/n/n] acted cold towards your boyfriend, it only got worse when you moved in with him. she always refused to play a game if george was going to participate, or never accepted any high fives or hellos from him. you felt sympathy for george. this child despised him and now you were asking him to look after her.
“please, i’m begging you,” you looked at him with pleading eyes. his eyes softened up after recognising the urgency of the situation.
“fine,” he agreed. you sighed out of satisfaction that you didn’t have to stress out [y/s/n] over finding a new baby sitter.
“thank you so much,” you pressed a small kiss to his lips appreciatively.
right at that moment, you two heard the doorbell ring. you urged george to get ready as fast as he could while you went down stairs and greeted your [sibling] and your niece.
“auntie/uncle [y/n]!” [y/n/n] yelled as you opened the door, immediately rushing into your arms. she looked a lot taller than the last time you saw her
“how’s my favourite girl?” you picked her up and swung her, before placing a little kiss on her head
you gave your [sibling] a quick hug. they handed you a bag full of toys, teddies and colouring pens, along with a spare set of clothing just in case [y/n/n] got a little messy throughout the day. and some quick reminders about her favourite foods or how to get her stop crying. you’d looked after her before, so all of it was pretty familiar to you
“again, thank you so, so much, you have no idea how much you’re helping me.” they told you. your [sibling] gave [y/n/n] a kiss on the cheek and told her to be a ‘good and kind little girl’ before finally exiting the household.
george, at last, made his way down. wearing a decent pair of jeans and a hoodie, giving an awkward wave to [y/n/n]
you checked the time and knew you had to get going. you had to explain to her that uncle george was going to be the one looking after her today. and after one whole tantrum, you managed to convince her to be a good girl by promising to give her a big reward afterward.
finally, you kissed [y/n/n] and george a goodbye , then shut the front door behind you.
george and [y/n/n] stood opposite each other. there was an uncomfortable silence in the air. george felt so...he didn’t even know. what do you say to a child who hates you? [y/n/n] tightly clutched her bag of toys.
“so, [y/n/n],” george cleared his throat, he bent down to her level. “i hear you like toy story?”
[y/n/n] pouted “i don’t like you” she said, and stomped away.
george sighed. this was going to be a long day.
and it was.
-
it started off with [y/n/n] innocently using her colouring pens and drawing random things, you know, as children do. but when she ran out of paper, she made her way to your office, where all your uni work was. she grabbed the closest piece of paper that was sitting on your desk, deciding it was going to be the next canvas for her art. this paper just happened to be a very important assignment.
when george caught her in the act, he had to physically tear her away from your office, in defiance of all her kicking and screaming.
-
then, when george accidently left the door to your shared bedroom open. [y/n/n] waddled in without him noticing, she started playing with all of his devices. his computer, his microphone, and somehow she got a hold of his headphones, and took out the battery. george didn’t realise until he noticed the cover missing. he tried to ask her nicely where she threw the battery. but she insisted that she wasn’t going to give it back unless he stopped being ‘mean’
-
when lunch time rolled around, george put a pizza in the oven, he remembered clearly that [y/n/n] loved pizza, specifically pepperoni. nothing could go wrong here.
but when he called her to the kitchen so she could receive her lunch. she just stared blankly at the pizza, and then at him. she crossed her arms
“[y/n] usually makes a smiley face with the pepperoni”
george just felt all his will to live just disappear
-
coloured pens and toys were spread out all across the living room floor, [y/n/n] was sitting in front of the tv, george put on one of her favourite shows which thankfully distracted her for a bit, allowing him to relax. he pulled out his phone and texted you
to [y/n] <3 : help me please
to [y/n] <3: i cant take this anymore, i’m literally dying rn
to [y/n] <3: come home quick
he exhaled heavily, throwing his phone to the side. he was so exhausted.
[y/n/n] was roleplaying with her toys, making them move around and doing squeaky little voices. george smiled at the innocence
“purple bear doesn’t play with us anymore. princess giraffe, mr. george took her away from us,” she spoke in a high pitched voice
george’s ears perked up. how funny that she had a teddy named ‘mr. george’. curiously, he watched the little girl.
“koala george, is a meanie, he stole purple bear and now they don’t want to hang out with us!”
it didn’t take a genius to find out what [y/n/n] was displaying through her role playing teddies.
that was why she didn’t like george. before they got together, [y/n] mentioned they almost spent every weekend with [y/n/n], playing with her and having fun with her.
she felt abandoned by [y/n] and felt as if george had taken them away from her .
george felt at fault as he noticed the girls eyes started to water.
“does purple bear love us any more?” she continued to play.
george decided it was enough and he switched off the television. he joined [y/n/n] on the floor and grabbed the teddy that was supposedly ‘koala george’
“[y/n/n]” he spoke softly. the little girl looked up at him expectantly. he held up the teddy.
“is this supposed to be me?” he questioned her.
“that’s a koala bear,” she answered
“no-, [y/n/n],” he said. he thought about how to ask her, and just chose it was best to be flat out with the child,”
“did i steal auntie/uncle [y/n] away from you?”
the question took her by surprise. she gazed at him with big wide eyes. she thought about her answer and grabbed the purple bear, which was supposed to be you.
“they don’t play with me as much anymore, they’re always with you, because of you, they don’t love me anymore,” she pulled a face, it wasn’t angry, it wasn’t annoyed.
it was a genuinely sad face.
george was sure he physically felt a pang of guilt in his stomach. he never even comprehended the fact that a child could feel so rejected.
“listen... [y/n/n],” he said gently. he thought about his words. comforting someone wasn’t exactly his strongest point, particularly not a child who detested him “[y/n] will never stop loving you, okay? they love you very much, and i’m sorry you feel like i stole them ”
[y/n/n] continued to listen.
“but don’t forget that [y/n] has so much love to go around! look, they love you, and they love me, they love grandma and grandpa too! they will always love one another even if they can’t see each other often,”
[y/n/n] stayed silent. she fiddled with the purple teddy, folding its ears and patting its head. she loved that bear. it was actually gifted to her by you, when she was first born. she brought it to her chest and hugged it. george tried a different approach.
“listen, how about- this weekend, we can all go to the park together, and have a picnic. you, me, [y/n], and your parents too,”
she continued to just stay silent. george didn’t know what to expect, she was unpredictable, was she going to throw another hissy fit? or start to cry? he wasn’t sure
“can we also get ice cream?” she asked
george smiled and felt himself relax. thank god. “all the ice cream you want,” he told her
[y/n/n] stood up and giggled. like her whole entire mood did a whole fucking 180. “okay! let’s go play dress up now!”
———
7:45 pm. you finally arrived home. you were tired out of your mind. [y/s/n]’s interview was delayed by two hours and was currently half way back home, meaning you had enough time to spend with [y/n/n]
you unlocked the door, expecting to see a giant tsunami of toys and colouring pencils and pens, but what you saw was the most heart warming thing ever.
george was sleeping on the couch, his head resting on the armrest. he had a couple pink bows in his hair, his lips were painted a hot pink, he was wearing a couple sparky bracelets and a purple floral necklace.
in his lap, [y/n/n] rested her head, she was wearing a fairy costume with matching pink bows and sparkly bracelets.
you quickly snapped a photo of this wholesome moment. because, who wouldn’t? you spent a few minutes just watching the two sleep, they were probably just as tired as you.
moments like these made you really appreciate the people you had in your life. the people you love so dearly much.
you didn’t want to disrupt the ambience but you felt it was better for your [sibling] to collect your niece when she wasn’t covered in glitter and an overload of pink accessories.
you quietly woke george up,
“baby, wake up.” you shook him awake, gently. in a very different way than you did this morning. he opened his eyes. and immediately smiled upon seeing your face. you ran your thumb across his cheek
“it looks like you two had a lot of fun,” you teased.
he quietly chuckled. “she’s okay,” he told you. looking down at the little girl sleeping in his lap.
you slowly and carefully picked her up, removing any accessories you thought may seem uncomfortable to sleep in. she was a heavy sleeper.
you carried her upstairs, tucking her into you and george’s bed and placing a kiss upon her forehead. you turned back to george and rushed in for a bear hug
“thank you so much for doing that,” you said. “i love you so much, i know it probably wasn’t easy, she can be quite the handful,”
george chuckled. “handful is an understatement,”
“you’d better be willing to dress up like that with our own kids one day.” you stated, hugging him tighter.
his face broke out into a small smile, having thought of an image of you two playing with you future kids. he kissed top of your head and then your nose
“maybe one day”

Fenton Is That Broken Character
If we’re honest, Danny is insanely OP
“What you up to dad?”, Jack looks up as his son walks in the front door. He still can’t help but marvel at how he’s turned out. Sure education and lifestyle wise he was definitely lacking, but he had a presence. Taller than Jack now and muscular, but still clearly a kind soul. Even if he seemed determined to never have a job or leave home at this point. But there could always be hunting in his future, pretty lucrative thing nowadays. Plus, Jack enjoyed still having him around and he did seem happy. Even if he was aloof and paranoid, but Jack knew that was partly because Amity warranted being cautious and his son was extremely unusual.
Tapping on some papers, “finishing up that ghost ordering system. Think I’ve finally got all the appropriate classes down pat. Care to give your old man a unique view?”. Danny chuckles as he nods. Jack’s glad his son has opened up more to theories, still clearly hates pretty much every invention for some reason though.
“The one through six classing is still pretty well the same but I’ve settled on the different related power levels. Though honestly, I hope no level thirties actually exist”, tapping on the paper.
Classes:
1: non-threat - ignorable (1-3)
2: pseudo-threat - should be captured but no hurry. (4, 5)
3: mild threat - capture immediately, potential danger. (6)
4: threat - break out the anti-ghost gear, deal with quickly. Engage with extreme caution. (7-15)
5: major threat - bring out specialty weapons and only engage if absolutely necessary. (16-19)
6: WARNING: apocalyptic threat - do not engage, run. (20+)
“Now I know the GIW rated Phantom at seven, six years ago, but I doubt he’s still a seven now. Blob ghosts are always three or less and I’ll be disappointed if the Box Ghost is higher than a 5”, Jack and Danny both snicker, clearly agreeing. Danny taps on class 6, “and I’d say Mr. Floaty face was 6 for sure”.
The two spend around an hour throwing out random ghosts and placing most of them. Jack chuckles, “honestly, not even going to really try to place Phantom for sure. We know for sure he was at least a four near when he first popped up. Clearly stronger than he used to be so I really wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a five now”. Danny nods and Jack’s quite pleased with himself over that. His son always seems to just know things when it comes to ghosts. Fenton genius he’s sure.
“I’d say at least five, likely close to six or a six. He’s stronger than he’s given credit for, I think. Basically a walking broken enigma”
“Part of me hopes you’re wrong but if I’d want any ghost to be so powerful, it’d be Phantom”, Jack really is glad for coming to a truce with the spook years ago. Smiling as he catches Danny’s soft smile and what almost seems like a blush? This is his favourite aspect of the Phantom truce, that it clearly makes his son very happy, which makes Jack happy. Even if he doesn’t get why his son can be so ghost friendly, even his opinion of flat out dangerous ghosts are somewhat fond, oddly.
Jack’s sitting at the table when he can’t help but ponder about how his son seems to set off ghost stuff all the time. Wondering if maybe, Danny might just have a self-sustaining ectoplasmic field, like a ghost, as a result of his accident; rather than just oddly prolonged ectoplasmic contamination. Because no way should he still be contaminated from the accident after six years. After all, he was pretty much shocked by the entirety of the zone, even if he clearly downplays it.
But Jack’s not really worried about this because if it caused Danny issues he would have said something, right? Plus, Jack is pretty much sure his son can sense ghosts, which he’s actually a little glad for and he’ll admit to feeling a little guilty over once or twice using him to tell if there was a ghost nearby, because of his sons' reaction. Yes, he noticed the fogging breath and how Danny would instantly start looking around for the ghost/becoming more aware. Kind of hard to not notice. So really his son is like a walking ghost senor, and how cool is that? Jack will never have to worry about some foul ecto-scum sneaking up on his son, and imagine how useful that’ll be when he becomes a hunter! He is a Fenton after all, ghost hunting is just what Fentons’ do.
So as Jack watched his son eat cereal, Jack covertly turns on the device he’s been fiddling with. He’s honestly surprised it’s taken him so long to sit down and build something to rank and class a particular ghosts power and threat levels. Not surprised in the slightest that it senses Danny as an ectoplasmic entity. So Jack selects his son on screen, fully expecting a reading of 1 or 2, and after a few seconds, the thing starts smoking and explodes.
Jack blinks only slightly shocked as Danny jumps a bit, from the explosion. Danny barely misses a beat before chuckling, “another prototype bites the dust huh?”. Jack’s not quite sure why his son blinks a bit and pulls a face before speaking again, “uh, so what’s this one supposed to do? Gots a weird vibe to it”.
Jack’s face lights up a bit, always eager to talk ghosts or explain some new invention, “Well son! It’s supposed to read ghosts power levels and how to best handle them! If we’ve finally settled on rankings, only makes sense to find a more definitive way to do the rankings”. Danny rubs his neck a bit sheepishly, but smiles playfully, “and let me guess, like usual, I set it off or something”. Jack taps on one of the burnt pieces that aren’t on the floor, “which is very strange son but yes. I wouldn’t worry though! Even though it definitely read you as having an ecto-field, looks like it was attempting to put out a reading too! I’m guessing that caused an error, malfunctioned. Seeing as you’re not actually a ghost”.
Jack watches his son chuckle heartily as he puts away his dishes, “well sorry about the tech dad, and yeah nothing to worry about. I may be weird, but I’m perfectly fine”. Jack can tell he means it as he watches his son head out the door.
Groaning a little and staring sadly at the burnt pieces as he starts cleaning up the mess. “Oh?”, Jack feels almost giddy when he finds the heavily smashed screen, as he sees that it actually did manage to get a reading on his son. Wiping it off, Jack’s face squints in confusion as he reads the results:
“PL: subdued: overload”
“Class: error”
“Title: ghost king”
“Okay? The subdued section is perfectly expected. After all Danny-boy isn’t a ghost so he wouldn’t have access to his ectoplasmic field. Even if he really shouldn’t have one at all”, shaking his head at the screen, “but overload? That makes no sense? He’d have to be over 15 and even for an actual ghost that is incredibly high”. Jack claps his hands together as an idea hits him, “maybe it’s because he’s not a ghost, so this little guy really can’t get a proper reading at all! Maybe Danny’s field doesn’t even follow normal rules at all! That explains the error class too! Only way to know is to rule out the other option!”.
Jack smiles knowing full well he’s going to spend the day building a better version, or at least one that can sense higher levels. Shaking his head at the screen again, “and I’m just dismissing this whole “ghost king” title, only ghosts actually have titles so that’s obviously a malfunction”.
As Jack tinkers away, he can’t help but feel more worried than curious at this point, “if the strange readings were really because of a malfunction than “subdued” should have appeared messed up as well. Heck! All of it should have showed error or overload”.
Frowning a little as he hears the front door open, no doubt that’s his son. With Jazz away and Maddie at home all day, there really isn’t another person it could be. Rubbing at the smooth metal of the device as he puts on some finishing touches. Smacking it lightly in triumph as it turns on, “now this baby will certainly at least go up to level 30! Too bad it actually has to be touching a ghost field to work though”. Glancing at the stairs and shrugging, “well I’ll just have to ask Danny-boy, I’m sure he’d be curious”.
Jack heads up slowly after he hears Maddie leave, he knows how skittish his son can be and he doesn’t want him to feel ganged up on. Sticking his head out the lab door just in time to catch Danny heading to his room, “afternoon! Could you come to the living room with me?”. Noticing Danny looking a bit on edge near instantly, “you’re not in trouble son. Just some worries and theories I want to bounce off you”. Jack’s glad that seems to ease his son up a fair bit, but as he sits down Jack notices him tense a bit at the device. That’s a thing about his son that worries him, it’s almost like he’s cautious or mistrustful of all inventions.
“It’s an improved version of the one from this morning”, Jack wiggles it a bit only barely catching that Danny looks more, not less, uncomfortable. Sighing and facing his son, “I found the readout screen from the one this morning after you left. Definitely malfunctioned, weird readings, error messages, the works. But you clearly have an ecto-field, son. And you really really shouldn’t, so I’d like to test you again”. Jack can’t help but lower his voice more and more while speaking, as he noticed Danny looking more and more uncomfortable.
“Er, Whatever happened to that ecto-contamination theory? Field seems more unlikely”, Jack can tell by how his son is curled up a bit and moving his eyes around a lot, that he’s looking for a way out of this. Jack really doesn’t get why his son wouldn’t want whatever information they could get, maybe even figure out what exactly the problem is.
“Ecto-contamination can’t last for six years, so that theory went out the window. That leaves either a field or something undiscovered... Are you really so put off by our stuff that you’d rather not know?”, Jack can’t help but wince as Danny looks legitimately hurt and guilty over that last statement. He hadn’t meant to guilt trip him, he’s just worried and curious; but mostly worried now, “son, I don’t mean to push. It’s just, I’m worried. This is more than weird, I know it’s clear you’re not actively being harmed by whatever this is. But how can I be sure it’s not doing something long term, if no one even has a clue what’s going on?”. Now Danny just looks more worried and that was not the goal, so Jack just keeps talking, “I’m not very good at this “worried parent so please confide in me or test something” thing, I know. I’m not worried because this is strange, i just want to know you’re ok and just how much this has affected you. I know it’s not just setting off our stuff”. Jack blinks, a bit thrown off at how his son stiffens and stares at him, eyes clearly filled with paranoia. So Jack aims for soothing or at least compliments or something, “honestly the ghost sensor thing is downright neat. No clue how you can tell but it’s still cool. And so long as it doesn’t hurt you, then it is for sure cool”.
Jack mentally cheers as Danny does indeed seem slightly more relaxed as he responds, “how long? How long have you known about that? And um, thanks?”. Jack chuckles softly, “few years now, your breath would fog up for no obvious reason and you’d start looking around or leave the area. Then a ghost would show, hard to ignore pattern there, Danny-boy”. Jack watches, a little amused as Danny rubs his neck sheepishly. Poking Danny’s other hand as he speaks up again, “the other thing I’ve noticed is your skin is always cold. Way colder than anyone’s really should be, but you never seem cold so I assume it’s fine. Plus I imagine it makes dealing with hot weather a breeze!”.
“Er, opposite really. Hot weather sucks, cold weathers nice. But I’m fine, honest”. Jack can tell he means it but, “well I’m glad you feel fine, son. But how can we really be sure? Any bit of information really would help”. Jack taps on the device, hoping to get a yes this time.
Jack watches Danny’s eyes flick from him, to the device, and back to him, “so me being... a bit ghost-like is...cool?”. Jack really hadn’t thought of it as ghost-like but he guesses his son has a point there. Ecto-field, ghost detection, being cold; yeah those could all be seen as ghostie things. Jack nods at his son, “so long as this strangeness isn’t harming you, I don’t see how it wouldn’t be cool”.
Jack is almost startled at how Danny seems to near instantly and completely relax, even grinning rather wide as he sits up straight, “well I guess I can’t deny cool discoveries then”. Jack can’t help but be giddy even as Danny shuffles awkwardly, “how exactly does it work though?”.
“This one needs to actually be touching an ecto-field to work, sadly. But! Just touching it should work the same for you!”
“Sounds kind of like you could only check the willing then. Which kind of sounds like you made it with me in mind”, Jack can feel the suspicion in his sons' voice. Jack grins goofily though, “well of course, after that other one gave such a weird reading. I needed to know, more out of worry son. If you have an ecto-field, it should be really small and should have been easy for the previous one to read. But since that one only went halfway up the scale, the only way to really rule out the field theory is to use one that could get a reading on even the strongest of fields”. Jack feels quite satisfied with his explanation, even if Danny seems, of all things, bashful. Danny rubs his neck as he responds, “so what if I just have, like a strong one, what then?”.
“Then I guess you just do. Just more information to have and every bit helps! And who knows! Maybe a strong field might be keeping some ghosties away! Though it really should be impossible”, Jack’s not sure what about that was funny but he’s not going to complain as Danny nods and holds out his hand.
It only takes the machine a few seconds to work, though Jack has a feeling that his son can actually feel it checking him or something. Based on the odd facial expressions anyway, more worried that it might actually be hurting his son than reading the results, “it’s not hurting you is it?”.
“No, no I’m fine. Weird not painful or anything. Kind of like something is sucking on my skin, if that makes any sense”, Jack chuckles a bit, glad to know he’s not inadvertently harming Danny. He really does wonder if some of their stuff does. Shaking his head, he checks out the results:
PL: subdued: 23
⚠️Class: 6
Title: ghost king
Jack’s a bit too confused to notice Danny having a mild freak out and staring at the title section, “wow son, freaky strong it is. Again that should be impossible but I guess not”. Jack laughs a little, “that could probably actually scare a lot of ghosts! Fearing a Fenton as it should be!”. Tapping at the screen, “the rest makes zero sense though, again. Error made more sense than class six, especially with being subdued? And again with the title?”.
“Well couldn’t, couldn’t that just because of the power level thing?”, Jack shakes his head. Looking at his clearly a bit startled son, “that’s the main factor yes but to get the highest class you’d have to have more than just a strong field. Apocalypse level is just for those with insanely destructive powers, are near impossible for any human or ghost to defeat and more than likely can’t be caught or destroyed”.
Danny glances back at the screen as he responds, “so ridiculously overpowered, like a broken video game character”. Jack can’t help but laugh at that, “yes son, that’s a pretty fair comparison”. Shaking his head, “you must have some insane untapped potential or you have an ability that is very dangerous. Both are a bit concerning. The only other option is that you’re already extremely powerful and have a dangerous power. Which is just confusing”. Shaking his head more, “then there’s this title. You’re not even a ghost, how could you possibly be their king?”.
“Could you imagine though?”, Danny’s tone is a bit cautious sounding but that’s pretty common for him. Jack prefers when he’s joking around or even slacking off honestly, “well, I would prefer for their king to be someone like you. You’re a good man, son. And that would be kind of cool, utterly impossible but cool”. Jack taps his chin a bit, “maybe, because of the accident you're guaranteed to become a ghost and for some reason the king? That still sounds ridiculous”. Jack shakes his head while Danny talks a bit quietly, “if that happened, me becoming a ghost. What would you guys do?”.
Jack blinks at his son slowly, getting what he’s asking and yeah no way he could ever, “we’d support you, see what you remember. We could never hunt you son. Families family. I can’t say I’d even know how to react if you hurt someone, especially with how kind and gentle you are now. So, don’t worry about that”. Jack pats him on on the back affectionately to prove a point and judging by Danny’s loose smile, the point was indeed made.
Danny’s looking down at the living room table, “good. I’m glad to hear it”. Jack’s a little confused but glad his son is glad. Danny shifts a bit, “but yeah I do...have a dangerous power. Pretty well just destroys; buildings, vehicles, ghosts, people. I guess you could say I’m that character that gets banned from tournaments and winds up on Watch Mojo lists for most broken characters and most broken character powers”.
“That is dangerous for sure, I guess that explains that and while I’m curious, I’m not asking for a demonstration. But that means you’ve got a sure fire way to defend yourself, so long as that’s why you’d use it then it’s cool too”, Jack chuckles weakly at Danny’s shock. Smiling a bit at him, “you’re way too nice to be using something like that irresponsibly. Though I find it hard to believe that you can have such a strong ability without it hurting you”.
Danny runs a hand through his hair, “well it does leave me feeling weak and tired but otherwise fine. And it has kind of like a strength dail, never really used it close to full strength and I’d prefer to keep it that way”. Jack’s honestly impressed at this level of honesty and really, pretty much all of this is cleared up. Very weird and still no clue if this is really safe for his son but much less impossible, “sounds like you know yourself pretty well. I’m not going to push to know all you can do but I do want to know. This sure is one way to whip out a surprise trump card on some ghost!”. Jack can tell by Danny snickering that he’s surprised more than one or two ghosts before, which only makes him pleased. Pushing Danny lightly on the shoulder, “still worried about you though”.
Jack can practically feel the mischief in his son, as he talks while walking up to bed, “maybe you could see what sort of reading Phantom gives. He’s a friendly enough fellow, and I think the entire town knows he’s a completely broken video game character. You guys get along now and something tells me he won’t say no”.
End.

Proof that Ushiten is indisputably 1000% canon
Tumblr media
This paper aims to prove that there is no possible doubt behind the 1000% canonicity of the romantic relationship between Ushijima Wakatoshi and Tendou Satori from the manga Haikyuu!!. Our knowledge of Ushijima Wakatoshi, Tendou Satori and their relationship is wholly based on the official art and story provided by manga artist Haruichi Furudate, and therefore we will not source any fan-made work. Previous research has been limited to single instances that suggest some kind of relationship between these two, but despite considerable interest, no one as far as we know has attempted to compile an extensive list of points that, when combined, prove that a romantic relationship between them is 1000% fact.
The term ‘Ushiten’ shall henceforth be used as a shorthand notation to denote Ushijima and Tendou’s romantic relationship.
Tumblr media
Tendou is first seen at the end of chapter 150, and named in chapter 151 page 2 (one page before this one). And what is the first thing he does? Put his hand on Ushijima’s shoulder. That’s right. He clearly wastes NO time asserting just who Ushijima belongs to.
Tumblr media
Is that Wakatoshi’s boyfriendo laughing at his jokes? Why yes. Yes, it is.
Tumblr media
Do I really need to say anything here? This pretty much speaks for itself.
Tumblr media
There is no question that Tendou can't keep his hands off of Ushijima. This is like the third panel they're in together that's not an action scene, and Tendou is feeling Ushijima up in two out of the three. These pages are radiating with sexual tension, I tell you.
Also, look how mindful he is of Ushijima's feelings. Most people would just be like "yaaay, I scored a bunch of points, I feel awesome.", but no. Not Tendou. He'll check in with Ushijima in between points, because he cares about Ushijima and his feelings. It's evident.
Tumblr media
An untrained eye might overlook this, but take special note of Tendou's outstretched left arm here. Also notice that Tendou's right arm is not visible in this panel to the right of his body. This suggests that both of his arms are outstretched. Combined with that beaming smile towards his ace, the only possible conclusion is that he's going in for a hug, which solidifies my previous point of Tendou not being able to keep his hands off of Ushijima.
Tumblr media
I mean, hello. If this is not the face of someone who is completely enamoured of his ace, then I don't know what is.
Tumblr media
Even Coach Ukai can tell something is going on between these two. It's impossible to think about one without also thinking about the other. He can clearly only see them together.
Tumblr media
Look at them staring lovingly into each other's eyes. Tendou with the slight head tilt too. True love. It's canon.
Tumblr media
Ignore Shirabu here for a second, and take a moment to notice who's behind the speech bubbles. Yup. That's right. It's Tendou and Ushijima, sneaking glances at each other.
Tumblr media
There is a chance you might be thinking “Yeah well, I guess I sorta see your point, but so far it's mostly been Tendou touching/staring at Ushijima, not so much the other way around”. Well, that's changing here. Notice Tendou prancing by the net with his long-ass model legs, and more importantly, notice that Ushijima is totally checking him out. Ya. What d'ya got to say to that?
Also keep in mind that Ushijima is more reserved with his emotions in general, so for him we have to read inbetween the lines a little more.
Tumblr media
But Tendou wears his emotions on his sleeve and we don't have to read between the lines for him at all. He'll just yell 'em out at full volume on national TV no problem, not even thinking twice about using Ushijima's first name without suffix. And nobody bats an eye, so apparently Tendou calling Ushijima 'miracle boy' is business as usual as well, and that's just his go-to nickname for his lover. Tendou hasn't called any of his other teammates 'miracle boy', and neither have any others called Ushijima 'miracle boy', so it's unquestionable that this is something special between the two of them.
Tumblr media
Imagine this panel was just a bit taller. More specifically, imagine where Tendou and Ushijima's hands are reaching. Exactly. You're seeing what you think you're seeing. There's no bend at Ushijima's elbow, meaning that his arm continues reaching to the right. Tendou is clearly leaning to the left and extending his arm that way. The only possible conclusion is that they're reaching for each other's hands. This hypothesis is supported by the expressions on their faces. Yes, their faces tell all.
Ushijima looks frustrated about losing the set, as if he's blaming himself, thinking about what he could have done differently. Tendou has a softer expression on his face. As if he wants to comfort Ushijima. As if he just wants to tell him “it's okay, we'll get the next set”. That's why he's reaching for his boyfriend's hand, to give him a soft squeeze while Washijou is yelling at them.
Tumblr media
Oh Ushijima. You poor, innocent and oblivious child. Don't you know? When someone tells you how scary the horror movie they watched is, it means they want you to hold them during said movie. And the talk about cute actresses? Please. Tendou, you sly fox, you. It's the perfect excuse. It's a classic high school boy excuse to watch a movie with your best friend who you secretly have a crush on while also making yourself seem straight. Especially if you actually really just want to watch a horror movie to claim you're scared so you can cuddle up to said friend. But it's not gay because we're watching a movie with a cute actress. Or is it? Well, at that point you can gauge said friend's reaction, and make an educated guess on how open they would be to any advances. It's genius.
Oh, why didn't I come up with this in my teens? OH WAIT. WHAT’S THAT? I DID. THAT’S HOW I KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING, TENDOU. DON’T THINK YOU CAN HIDE YOUR TRUE INTENTIONS FROM ME.
Tumblr media
I cropped up a few panels on this page and compiled them into one image, because there's a lot going on here. I just wanna point out how enthusiastic Tendou is when he's talking to Ushijima. How interested he is in his background and motivations. His speech bubbles are all bubbly too. It's unmistakable that Tendou truly believes Ushijima is going to be a star and he has no inhibitions when it comes to telling him that. There's this instance, but there's also another one later on after the Shiratorizawa vs. Karasuno match, so I'll get back to that. In any case it means that Tendou sincerly thinks Ushijima is absolutely amazing.
Tumblr media
Using the raws here, because this is one of the most telling scenes and I felt that both the official translation and an online scanslation kind of twisted his words. So. What's Tendou saying here? In romaji, 美しいねぇ would be  “utsukushii nee”. “nee” has very little meaning, so we'll focus on “utsukushii” here, which literally translates to “beautiful”. Yes. He's calling Ushijima beautiful. In the manga. Canon. With a completely smitten expression on his face. Need I say more?
Some people might think that Tendou is only talking about Ushijima's form here. And if you're a very perceptive person, you might even say “But wait! Tendou has used that word to describe someone else before!”, and you would be partly correct. He has indeed used the word “utsukushii” to describe Kageyama's form. HOWEVER!
Tumblr media
The difference is that with Kageyama, he's commenting on Kageyama's beautiful FORM (美しいフォーム) that's falling apart. With Ushijima, Tendou doesn't mention his form at all. We can therefore conclude that, had Tendou really only been talking about Ushijima's form, he would have said so. But he didn't, and so the only possibility is that he is calling Ushijima himself beautiful. This in turn confirms that Tendou undeniably has feelings for Ushijima that extend beyond the platonic.
Tumblr media
Look at Tendou looking in utter amazement at his boyfriendo's great serve.
Tumblr media
He just can't help sneaking glances at Ushijima out whenever gets the chance.
Tumblr media
Ah, nothing as satisfying as scoring a point with a toss from your boyfriend, or by tossing to your boyfriend, am I right? Their facial expressions say it all.
Tumblr media
Okay, hello. First of all, Ushijima is quoting Tendou. That means he definitely thinks highly of him, especially considering Tendou and Ushijima's use of language is worlds apart to begin with, so it's probably not something Ushijima would usually say.
Secondly, this might be the softest and kindest expression we've seen from Ushijima so far. So far we've really mostly seen him be stoic, not showing much emotion at all. But this, this almost looks loving. Best of all, this expression is directed towards Tendou.
And last but not least, look at Tendou flipping his shit over all this in the last panel. He's feeling A LOTTT of emotions right there, there's no denying that!
Tumblr media
Even Ushijima is looking in amazement and clapping. Coming from him, that means something, because he's not usually someone to express enthusiasm or admiration.
Tumblr media
Another well-known scene. Things of note here: just Tendou and Ushijima are stretching here. The other third-years? Their kouhais? Not here. This suggests that they have a closer relationship with each other than they do with the rest of the team.
Secondly, it's evident that Tendou knows Ushijima well and understands how he's feeling. What's even more interesting is that Ushijima, who is normally pretty reserved, doesn't hesitate to open up towards Tendou about his true feelings, even though they might be immature.
Then Tendou voices his admiration, complimenting his straight, and for the second time straight-up asserting that Ushijima is going to be a volleyball star in the future, with his own documentary and everything. He also says he'll be sure to watch Ushijima on TV (I checked with the raws, he really uses Ushijima's name there). From this it is indisputable that Tendou cares about Ushijima beyond just a high school friend, he's truly invested in his future and wants to see him succeed. This is the kind of support you would get from a partner moreso than from just a friend.
Tumblr media
Tendou just barges into Ushijima's room without knocking and apparently this is fine and normal and happens all the time, because Ushijima doesn't complain or even blink. That's how close and comfortable they are with each other. And they share a copy of Shounen Jump.
C A N O N
Tumblr media
Okay, HELLO. Just look at what is going on in this panel.
“We'll be back~”, WITH a squiggle at the end of the sentence. Was also there in the original Japanese manga, mind you. That's a suggestive tone if ever I saw one.
Finger air quotes, Tendou? Seriously, take this in for a moment; FINGER AIR QUOTES? You'll “be back”? Come on. This can really only mean one thing, guys. Let's be honest.
Tendou's face just screams “Heyyyy, we're getting it on”. Look at it. Look at that face. Zoom in or something. Seductive AF.
They're standing so close together. Also, Ushijima, where is your hand going?
What's Hayato looking at? That's right. He's looking at where Ushijima's hand is going. And look at his expression. If that isn't a face that says “oh hey, there they go again”, then I don't know what is.
If it was just one or two of the above, I could say “okay, this doesn't have to mean anything”. But combine all these things together in one panel, and it really points towards one thing and one thing only.
Tumblr media
Look. Canon. They're not even out of sight yet and already Tendou can't keep his hands off his lover.
Tumblr media
You would know, Tendou.
No, but seriously. Tendou knowing Ushijima's schedule, answering his questions for him, and Ushijima not minding all point towards something more going on here. Usually people who are 'just friends' don't know exactly what their friend is going to be doing when (and they usually don't answer questions for their friends either).
“But since they're both helping with the training camp, isn't it natural that Tendou would know who else is going to be there?”, you might ask. Well, Hayato is helping too, and clearly he doesn't know. So no, just because Tendou is also helping with the training camp, does not mean that he automatically knows who else is going to be there.
Tumblr media
Tendou getting protective of his boyfriend. Really, who would notice anyone staring in an abnormal way at someone other than yourself? In most situations, people wouldn't give it a second thought. But if someone's staring weirdly at your partner... Then suddenly this scenario becomes a lot more understandable.
Tumblr media
Tendou keeping an eye on them 'cause he wants to know what business Hinata has with his boyfriend. Just in case.
Tumblr media
Stiiiill keeping an eye out. No one's checking Ushijima out scot-free on Tendou's watch.
Tumblr media
I think I know why Furudate has a fondness for this particular sketch. It shows Ushijima and Tendou running off into the sunset together, hand in hand. As we have already seen countless pieces of proof of so far, Furudate also ships Ushijima and Tendou. And if the manga artist themself ships it, it's canon.
Tumblr media
OKAY COME ONNN! There's no denying this! They're standing SO close! They're practically on top of each other! That is not an ordinary distance (or lack thereof, really) between two high school boys who are just friends. They're getting it on off-screen, no doubt.
Tumblr media
Look at them, running off together. We know Ushijima is faster than his teammates and will leave them behind if they can't keep up. But here apparently he waited for Tendou to finish his interview with Hinata, and he's slowing down enough so they can run together. Aww. ♡
Tumblr media
No way Ushijima would do promo for anyone other than his bf.
Tumblr media
Of course Tendou would return the favour.
Tumblr media
Okay, hello. Does this really need an explanation? Tendou is openly proclaiming that Ushijima is #1. He's got to have strong feelings for Ushijima for him to be so vocal about it.
Tumblr media
Look how close they're sitting together. Way closer than the others are. Tendou's elbow is totally touching Ushijima's arm. And his knee is almost touching his hand.
I also wanna point out just how consistently they're always together.
Tumblr media
Everyone in this room is focused on the twins entering the room, except for one person: Ushijima. Ushijima is too busy checking Tendou out, to such an extent that he's completely ignoring Atsumu who's calling his name.
Tumblr media
Furudate's dream team. Both Ushijima and Tendou are on the team. Coincidence? I think not.
Tumblr media
Anyone who claims they're not holding hands behind their backs is LYING.
Tumblr media
THEY EVEN HAVE A PUDDING DATE.
Tumblr media
I mean, I know 'looking' gay isn't really a thing, but if you had to point out someone in this picture...
Tumblr media
Look. There is even a sticker with Tendou longingly looking at his lover. Canon, I tell you.
Tumblr media
You can tell Reon is totally accepting of their relationship and is happy for both of them.
And then Goshiki is like “WHAT? REALLY?” after Taichi tells him about it. That's why he turns his head and looks so surprised, you see.
And Shirabu is like “Jeez, you couldn't tell?”
Tumblr media
In this study we have investigated the official Haikyuu!! content in order to establish that Ushiten is canon. The numerous pieces of evidence from this study have shown us multiple occasions where Tendou and Ushijima, to give a few examples, complimented each other, touched each other, gave each other looks of admiration, and were attentive to one another, among other things. Taken together, these findings support the idea that their relationship involves deeper emotions than just platonic ones.
It has to be mentioned that this study is not without limitations. The most important limitation is a result of Haikyuu!! being a Shounen Manga. As a consequence, Ushijima and Tendou's relationship will never be explicitly shown in the manga, however, that does not mean it does not exist. It is for that reason that we turn to more subtle hints, reading between the lines and paying more attention to the details. Substantial insight has been gained with regard to these details, and considering the sheer amount of these findings and the undeniability of their underlying meaning, we have obtained satisfactory results proving that Ushiten is 1000% canon.

"Hello, Angel. I know you're confused but I'm Chris' mother."
Her confusion immediately turned to shock but excitement because she finally got a chance to meet the woman that gave birth to her man. She smiled and allowed her to come in before they embraced each other in a hug. Maybe it ran in the family because just like Chris, his mother was giving her one of the best hugs. Joyce rocked Robyn back and forth careful not to squeeze her too tight because Chris did make her aware of the pain she was experiencing because of her cancer. She couldn't wait to meet the woman that had her son swoon that she decided to make an early trip and make it a surprise visit for both of them.
"It's great to finally meet the woman Chris is thinking about settling down with," Joyce paused. "Don't tell him I told you if he hasn't made that known, but he's my son so I know he's said something because that boy can't hold water." Robyn laughed agreeing. "I've been trying to get him to do that for a couple years now, but I see why he waited so long. God had plans. You can call me Mama or Mama J if you're not too comfortable with calling me that just yet."
Robyn smiled and felt herself about to cry. She never had the privilege of meeting her Mother in person, but with stories, and photographs from her Gran Gran she knew her Mother was a good woman. That she was loved before she was born and her Mother took extra precautions to make sure she was healthy and would be a happy baby. As she grew older she missed out on parental love, even though her Gran made up for it, she still yearned to feel what it would be like to have both parents in the household. Now she was here with Chris' mother, and she was already being given the right to call her Mama. It just made her feel so emotional to finally have something else she'd been deprived of.
Joyce felt her emotions shift, so she began to rub her back. "You okay, Angel?"
"I'm fine... Mama," she paused then smiled. That felt good. Really good. "It's just I went 25 years without my Mummy because she died after giving birth to me. So to finally have one is making me emotional, that's all. I'm really happy."
Joyce smiled and kissed the top of her head. "Well, I would love to be the Mama you never had and always wanted. I'll try my best to fill those shoes because I can never replace your original Mama. The pleasure is all mine, besides everything Chris has told me, it would be an honor to have a daughter like you."
"Thank you, Mama."
-
During her stay, they talked about everything, truly connecting and establishing a Mother/Daughter bond. It didn't take much because both of the women were comfortable in each other's presence. Robyn felt like a little girl than a young woman but she didn't mind nor did she care because she deserved to have the luxury of experiencing all the things girls and women did with their Mothers. She eagerly listened to Joyce talk about how it was raising a young Christopher and even had a photo album she brought with her to show Robyn. In turn, Joyce was interested in hearing Robyn speak about her childhood and upbringing, her Gran Gran Dolly being a huge part of that. She spoke about how life was for her in Barbados to transitioning to the United States and to where she was now.
Joyce had no doubts that Robyn was the one for her son and after what seemed like hours of them talking she knew why he was so fond of her because she felt the same way.
"Angel, do you think Chris is a true love for you?"
She sat and thought for a moment before smiling. "Absolutely. I have so much of him in my heart. He's an amazing person with a fantastic heart. He's giving and loving. You can't find intimacy, you can't find a home, to me, it blossoms. I tried running away from it, but he's it for me. We have this deep connection and I know I won't find that anywhere else."
Joyce smiled at who she knew would become her daughter-in-law. She was about to say something else before the door opened and the apparent disdain in Robyn's face told her she didn't want to see the figure standing there.
"Robyn..."
She felt a wave of emotions and the lasting one that had the most effect: hurt. What was he doing here? Why after all this time did he decide to come see her? She was the happiest she's ever been, and now he decided it was time to come disturb the peace she was feeling. Several months ago she didn't know what peace was or how she could obtain it. He was at the center of why she couldn't grasp it, and soon she became the epicenter that. Although she didn't allow him to make her see herself less in a physical sense, his abrupt departure shook her in an emotional sense, partly mentally. She was a wreck for months and now that she had it together here he was.
"Emery, what are you doing here?" She asked calmly
He didn't deserve her anger, her sadness, or her disappointment. He wasn't worth any of her emotions so she would keep her composure and deal with him accordingly.
"I," the man paused and looked at her. "I came to see you. See how you've been holding up. See–––"
"If I was alive?"
"No, Robyn–––"
"Why do you care? You made it clear how you felt about me when you left me all alone to fend for myself! You knew what state of mind I was in and when I needed somebody the most you weren't there. So now you decide it's time to come see me? Now when I finally have everything together, when I'm genuinely happy? I don't want to see you, and I don't want you here. You mean nothing to me. I found a man that loves me, respects me, and unlike you, he'll never leave me. So please, do me a favor and leave. I don't want you here."
She still couldn't believe he was here even after the initial shock wore off. She was trying hard to keep it together and not allow him to see her cry because the reminder of not being loved during the worst period of her life was still there. He opened up those wounds that Chris healed, still healing, and now they were fresh again, gnawing at her, tugging at her heartstrings slowly trying to make her come undone.
"Robyn, please––"
"GET OUT."
Joyce saw she was becoming uncomfortable, so she decided to intervene before things went any further than they needed to. "Young man, she wants you to leave. Show yourself to the door."
"Old lady mind your business. This doesn't concern you."
Joyce cocked her head back before pushing her chair back standing up. "See, Lord he's testing me. Child listen here–––"
"Mama, what's going on? Why is Robyn crying?"
Chris came into view with food in his hands confused but ready to strike if any harm had been done to his Mother and his girlfriend. He made his way in not even noticing the other male figure standing there. He placed the food down before going to tend to his girlfriend who seemed beside herself.
"Buttercup, what's wrong?" After Chris talked to Dolly, he went out for a while because he had some things he needed to take care of. He just had this feeling he couldn't shake, so he acted on his instincts. While he was out he went to get some breakfast because hospital food wasn't all that good, even if he and Robyn did get special treatment. He expected to eat breakfast and watch a movie with his girlfriend, so imagine his surprise when he saw his Mother there upset, and a distraught Robyn. Unbeknownst to him, the reason being in the room.
"Get him out of here Chris, please. Make him leave." She whispered. He knitted his eyebrows together and turned his attention to who his Mother was grilling.
"Yo, she wants you to leave, why you still here?"
"I ain't going nowhere until we talk. I have some things I want to say to her."
"Well, she don't wanna talk to you right now or ever. But I'm Christopher her boyfriend and future husband so any message you want to relay to her can be said to me. We can take this outside."
The man scoffed. "Boyfriend? Future husband?" He laughed loudly. "Robyn knows she can't do better than me. Besides, since you're in the hospital with her, you're probably just as sick as her. Ain't no future for you two."
Joyce gasped. "The Devil is working."
Chris clenched his jaw and let Robyn go before approaching the man at the door. He was about an inch taller than Chris and was more muscular than him too. But it didn't matter to him. Chris wasted no time throwing a punch hitting the man square in the nose. He staggered and was injured immediately, but that didn't stop him from charging at Chris. He threw a punch at Chris, but missed, and caught a blow to the jaw.
"GET HIM CHRIS. BEAT. HIS. ASS."
Chris was in a daze, adrenaline rushing through his veins. The comment about him and Robyn having no future pissed him off and stung. How dare a complete stranger to him and ex of Robyn fix his mouth to say such things knowing it would rub Robyn the wrong way? Chris couldn't let him go unharmed and untouched and thinking about it made him angrier. He was preparing to strike again, when he was caught off guard, getting hit in the ribs. The hit hurt more than it was supposed to with him already having those pains due to his illness. It took him longer to recuperate and when the man noticed he tried striking him there again, that is until Robyn jumped on his back.
"You not gonna hurt my baby!"
Robyn had him in a chokehold, and soon doctors and nurses came in when they were made aware of a disturbance. Robyn got off him, and they escorted the man out.
"Robyn, Chris are you guys okay?" Their Doctor Samuel asked clearly concerned
"He hit Chris in the ribs so I jumped on him before he could do any more damage to them." Robyn explained
The doctor nodded and moved Chris to the bed so he could examine how bad it was. While he was getting checked Robyn and Joyce spoke with staff to inform them of the events that took place, and they were promised he would never enter the hospital again. Joyce stayed up until Chris was done with his examination and bid them farewell before leaving to stay at Chris' penthouse like she normally did when she was in town.
Robyn sat near the bedside and held Chris' hand before kissing it. "How much pain are you in?"
"I'll be fine. Nothing out of place, just bruised. I just have to be more careful, how are you feeling though?"
"Chris don't worry about me, you're the one that got hit."
"Yeah, but what he said. I know––"
Robyn held her hand up. "I'm over thinking that way. He said it out of spite, and I will not give him the satisfaction of being upset over his comment. We had a conversation about that, right? No more negative thinking. Seeing him brought back feelings I buried but I feel better now after I said my peace. I said what I wanted to say to him for months. I got my closure so now it's time to focus on the future, and that's you."
Chris smiled then raised his hand, and Robyn gave him a high five. "Those were some good punches, Reeses. Had him looking like death with all that blood."
"But the way you jumped in though, choked the life out of him. You had your own little gang back in Barbados, huh? My Baby Girl gangsta. What was it called, the coconut gang?"
She laughed hard. "The coconut gang? Really?"
"Hey, I'm just trying to figure it out. What was your weapon of choice? A blade? I know you keep one under your tongue. Wanna be like 2Pac so bad, you see him do it in a movie and think you can do it too. You swear you Thug Life."
Robyn rolled her eyes with a big smile on her face. "You're annoying, ok?"
He laughed. "No, but thank you Buttercup. I appreciate you jumping in. It's obvious you do have my back like the Gmail security team has my back."
Robyn laughed and slapped his hand. "Chris, I can't take you seriously."
"Okay, seriously. You know I would've taken those hits for you any day."
"I know, but just like you protect me, I'll do the same. I don't want to see you hurt just as much as you don't want to see that for me."
They kissed, and it was a soft one. Every day brought them closer together, and they had no problem embarking on this journey as long as it was with each other.

Chapter 10
Rating: Mature (adult themes, sexuality, sleeping beauty au)
word count: 4,285 / 30,435 so far
Read on Ao3
Dennis had brought something to play music on, a portable CD player. When he handed it over, Phil had just sort of looked at it, prompting Dennis to call it vintage. Phil wondered if he actually owned any CDs but he said thank you just the same. It had a radio so he tuned in the classical station and left it playing for Dan when he wasn’t there or when he ran out of things to say. Most days started with a recap of Phil’s morning, then a summary of whatever media Phil thought Dan might be sorry to miss; Bake Off, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things. The kitchen started bringing Phil coffee when he arrived and lunch a few hours in to his visit. A few days, he brought cakes from the bakery by his flat. He’d sit and eat and reminisce, telling their origin story again and again. He always brought a cake for Dan, just in case.
In the seven days he’d been coming to see Dan, Phil had only seen the family the one time. This was just fine with him. He’d grown accustomed to the ride with Dennis and was so familiar with the other guard, it was like he wasn't there at all. The fervor over Phaniel had died down slightly. This was partly due to the royal family issuing a statement about Daniel showing promising signs due to receiving a new “treatment.” The crowds had mostly dissipated but for a few diehards who showed up every day and made a lot of noise about the curse and giving them their chance. Phil figured none of that was his concern and was happy to leave the politics to someone else. His time with Dan was about keeping him in this almost awake state he was currently in. It was theirs and theirs alone. Today was no different, until, half way through his in depth analysis of the latest Avengers movie, when there was a knock at the door. It was a brief knock followed by an abrupt intrusion.
“Really, Adrian, knocking? He’s my bloody son, for Christ’s sake!” Prince Walter stormed inside, disturbing the peaceful sanctuary Phil had carefully crafted. Adrian shuffled in behind him, watching his feet.
“Oh, Hello sir. Hey Adrian.” Phil moved to hug Adrian but stopped short. Water was glaring at him and it seemed it might be best to figure out why.
“Hello Philip.”
“It’s Phil…”
“What’s all this? You brought plants? I assume you aren’t actually planning to light those candles. You do realize Daniel has no idea any of these things are here?” Walter was unhinged, pacing the room, waving his arms about as he spoke.
“Well I just thought…”
Walter paid no attention to Phil at all, continuing his tirade over the absurdity of this plan of action. Phil sat down and waited, figuring it was no use to try and interrupt again. He watched Adrian, trying to convey compassion whenever he was able to catch his eye.
“You’ll need to clean all this up, take it with you when you go.”
“Wait, when I go?” Still no acknowledgement from the prince. “Sir... Sir!” Phil had had enough. He felt for this man, he really did, but he wasn’t going to sit here and be verbally abused for doing what he was asked to do, for being a friend to Dan. “Walter!” Phil barked his name and Walter finally stopped. He turned, his jaw clenched and looked at Phil.
“Beg your pardon, sir, but what do you mean, when I go?” Phil spoke carefully, his tone measured.
“I don’t know what my wife told you, but she’s not herself. We can’t carry on with this charade indefinitely.” Walter’s voice echoed off the walls.
Phil felt like he might be sick but he screwed up his courage. Someone had to stand up for Dan, someone had to be his voice.
“All due respect, Sir. Your wi- Princess Danielle seemed to be very much in control of her faculties when I saw her. I may not totally agree with her view of what’s happening here but she is his mother…”
“And I’m his father.” Walter interrupted harshly.
“I understand that. And I can’t imagine what this is like for you. But, she’s his mother and she seems to be willing to do whatever is necessary to help him.”
Walter threw his hands into the air and began pacing again. “Yes, we all are Phil, all but you, it seems.”
There it was. It had crossed his mind a few times over the course of the week, that the family would likely hold Phil responsible because of his unwillingness to buy into the whole curse thing and his refusal to kiss Dan. He knew it would come up but he had hoped Dan would wake up before it had a chance to.
Adrian tried to help, “Father, that’s really not fair. Phil is the only one who…” He swallowed the rest of his words when Walter held a finger up in his direction. It was the first time Phil had seen them act like a family, a dysfunctional, angry family, but a family.
Phil did his best to sound sympathetic. “Sir, again, I don’t mean to overstep, but Daniel has been right at the edge of consciousness since I’ve been coming here. If we could just have a little more time together.”
Walter huffed but Phil went on.
“Do you really believe in this curse? Do you really think a kiss is what he needs? From me?”
Walter raised his chin, looking down his nose at Phil.
“What I believe is irrelevant, Philip. By the time I take the throne, I’ll have one foot in the grave. There are important political ties, negotiations, arrangements, that rely on the relationships that I have personally built. Daniel needs to be there to step in. My heir will survive this and he will take his rightful place in history with a queen by his side.” Adrian stood silent, his lip quivering. It was not lost on Phil that Walter talked like he had one son. One son that was clearly just a pawn in a game to him. “Unfortunately, you seem to be the person Daniel decided to devote himself to. So yes, he needs a kiss. From you. I would do anything if that weren’t so, but it is. So, if you aren’t willing to play your part, then you will need to leave.”
Anger surged in Phil’s veins and he got up, walking to stand a mere foot from Walter. He hadn't noticed before now that he was at least a couple inches taller than him. Try and look down on me now, Walter.
“Adrian, would it possible for you to ask your mum to see me?” He stared into Walters eyes as he spoke to Adrian. “And your grandmother?”
Walter looked ready to strangle Phil, “Now you wait. That’s a step too far.”
Adrian had slipped out the door and Walter called after him to no answer.
“You don’t just casually ask for an audience with the queen.” Walter’s fists were clenched. Phil stood tall, inside he shook like a leaf but he faked confidence.
“I just did.” Phil smiled an artificial smile and Prince Walter walked heavily out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
As soon as he was gone, Phil slumped into his chair and dropped his face into his hands. He cried, mostly out of residual fear and frustration.
“No offense but your dad’s kind of a dick.” He said to Dan, then he brushed the curls away from his forehead. He found Dan’s fingers again, linking them with his, like he had been doing at the end of most days. “I wish you could tell me it’s OK. I wish you could tell me what to do.”
They didn’t wake up spooning, they woke up facing away from each other, each clinging to their respective edges of the bed. There was enough room between them for the rest of the party to join. Phil rubbed his eyes and rolled over. Dan was sitting up in bed, phone in hand.
“Hey, What time is it?”
Dan jumped a little, smiling, so happy to see Phil first thing in the day. “Ten. Dennis is on my ass to get going so we definitely shouldn’t lay down and have a morning snuggle.” By the time the words were out, Dan had tucked a leg between Phil’s and wrapped his arms around his waist.
As he fell asleep last night, Phil had told himself that they needed to have some real conversations before things went any further. He had vowed to keep his hands to himself and not get carried away. But now, he found himself all tangled with Dan once again and all he could do was smile. They’d be on their way soon, what harm could a cuddle do? Dan wriggled against Phil. “I like waking up with you.”
Phil opened his mouth to agree but a knock on the door interrupted him.
“Sir, you have 3 minutes or I come in.” Dennis was not messing around. Phil jumped out of bed and pulled on his jeans and shirt at record speed. He ran to brush his teeth, Dan laughing behind him.
“Let him come, what difference does it make?” Dan stretched and took his sweet time getting up and dressing.
The living room was quiet, empty, but for a mess of empty beer bottles and dishes. The food from last night had been pushed to one end of the dining room table but not cleaned up. Dan lead Phil to an empty chair at the end of the table and sat him down. He leaned over and said “You relax, beautiful. I’ll get us coffee.“ He gave Phil a quick kiss and walked into the kitchen.
PJ sat, peering over his mug which was held to his lips in a perpetual state of almost drinking. He stared at Phil, an inquisitive look in his eyes. “Sleep well lover?”
“Um yeah. Thanks. It’s a big bed, innit?” Well this was weird.
“So tell me, Phil, what are your intentions with my friend?” PJ slurped his tea.
“Um, my intentions? Um, I guess I…”
PJ laughed a raucous laugh and shoved Phil’s shoulder. “Don’t worry ol boy, I’m just toying with you!” The room was quiet enough that Phil could hear the waves crashing outside through the open patio doors. Dan was tapping his toe to some song in his head, waiting on the coffee maker, oblivious. Phil watched him with an involuntary smile on his face. Dan’s shirt was wrinkled and he had terrible bed head, he had pulled on Phil’s socks, and his pinky toe stuck out of the hole that had formed. He had never seen anyone so beautiful in all his life. He’d had crushes, so many, but this feeling he got from just looking at Dan, it was new and big and somewhat overwhelming. PJ hadn’t stopped staring and now he leaned in close, “He really likes you Phil. Like really likes you.” Phil still watched as Dan poured the coffee, whistling.
“Yeah, That’s the impression I get. Don’t worry PJ, I really like him too.”
PJ looked serious, “Yes I know. But Phil, you know it’s not going to be easy, right? Are you prepared for what it might be like to be with Dan?”
Phil considered this, “Well, no. But I feel like this might be one of those things in life, where you just do whatever you have to do.”
Dan set a steaming mug in front of Phil and sat, splashing cream into his own coffee. He was chatting about taking a more scenic route home so he could show Phil more of the coast. Phil was only half listening, he drank his coffee too fast and burned the roof of his mouth.
There were only a few pairs of shoes by the door now. Phil slipped his on over Dan’s socks and brought Dan’s to him.
“Oh. Are we in a hurry?” Dan asked.
Phil brought his cup to the sink. “No, I mean, maybe. I do have a few things to do at home.” He was just ready to be out of this place. He wanted a shower and he did not trust himself to take one here. He wanted fresh clothes and even though he liked PJ, he wasn’t in the mood for any more best friend scrutiny right now.
“Ok, yeah, we’ve been here all night. Of course you’d want to get home. Sorry.” Dan stood and stretched, reaching his arms high above his head. “Thanks for this PJ, it was great.” He put a hand to his chest, “I appreciate you.” PJ walked over and hugged Dan tight.
“Anytime buddy.” PJ’s hands were on Dan’s shoulders and he looked him in the eye, paternally. “You’re always welcome here... You and Phil are always welcome here.”
Dan smiled widely at that and ducked away to get their jackets, a little embarrassed at the connection.
“Yeah, thanks PJ, this really was lovely, like a mini vacation.”
Phil hoped that would be the end of it but PJ pulled him in for a hug and whispered, “I’m glad it’s you, Phil. If he’s gonna fall for someone, you’ll do just fine.”
Those words, fall for someone, they danced around Phil’s stomach. Phil was sure of Dan. He was totally unwilling to admit it out loud this soon, but still he was more sure than he’d ever been of anything. He was also really scared, scared that his feelings would grow even more intense, scared that they wouldn’t. And scared that he’d be too much for Dan, that Dan could never possibly feel the way Phil did. But those words, from Dan’s trusted friend, if he’s gonna fall for someone, Phil suddenly felt lighter.
The drive home took a little longer than it should have. Dennis drove along the coast for a bit before jumping onto the main road. It was beautiful. Phil told Dan about the Isle of Man and the time he’d spent there with his family. They stopped for coffee and pastries and settled in for the drive. Phil couldn’t remember being so comfortable doing nothing with anyone before. Usually, he was incredibly nervous being alone with someone he hadn’t known for ages. He usually felt compelled to fill silences before they became awkward but the things he said to fill them only exacerbated things. It wasn’t like that with Dan. He could just coexist with him, no pressure, no pretense.
It was Dan who broke through the quiet with a question, asked just above a whisper. “Phil, have you ever been in love?”
The answer spun like a tornado in Phil’s mind, Yes Dan, with you, I’m in love with you. It was difficult to form any other words but he managed, “I think so.”
Dan brushed crumbs off his lap then off of Phil’s. “How long to you think you have to know someone before feeling like that, before you can say you love them?”
Phil thought Dan must be able to hear his heart for how hard it was beating. “Well, I think it depends on the people and how they met and how they spend their time. And anyway, love isn't just about knowing someone, it’s deeper than that. My dad says he knew the first time he saw my mum. He felt it. And look at them now.”
Dan took Phil’s hand and rested his head on his shoulder.
“Dan, you said there are stories you should tell me.” They were stuck in this car, maybe they should get this stuff out of the way. “No time like the present?”
Phil could feel Dan’s sigh. “Yeah. Yeah, ok. Let’s talk about that. There's stuff about my family, obviously, where do I start? Like, before we met, what did you know about me?”
“Um, well, I grew up watching the Christmas specials with my mum. I lost interest once I got a Tamagotchi. No offense.”
“None taken.”
“Funny, but I rediscovered you just a few months before we met.” Phil said, casually, not realizing the implication. He sipped his coffee.
“Wait. You rediscovered me? A few months ago? What does that mean?” Dan had lifted his head and now he was looking right at Phil.
Phil tried to hide his fluster. “Oh, I just exposed myself, didn’t I? Shit. My friend Louise is like a total fangirl for you, but I never really paid attention. And then I saw your photos, when you left Eton. That’s all. There’s no story.”
“Oh no you don’t. There’s always a story. What do you mean you saw my photos? Where?” Dan’s voice had gone high pitched.
“In a tabloid, they published your photo, in your Eton uniform, with the pink socks.”
Dan laughed and Phil continued, getting lost in the memory.
“And you were looking straight at the camera. You looked so...cool. Just enigmatic and fucking cool. I bought it, first one I’d ever bought, only tabloid I’ve ever bought. I didn’t read a word, just ripped out that photo and…” He trailed off. Phil wondered why his filter always showed up a few seconds too late when he was around Dan.
Dan looked scandalized in the best possible way. “And? Phil Lester, you spill right now. You ripped out the photo and what? What did you do with my photo, Phil?”
Phil’s cheeks turned a deep red. “I just, I just kept it.” He cleared his throat. “ In my nightstand.”
“In your nightstand!?” Dan had Phil by the shoulder and was shaking him back and forth while Phil struggled not to spill his coffee. “Oh my god. You wanked to me. You wanked to me! This is  illuminating. How often? How many times? Sorry, sorry, none of my business, but how often?”
Phil covered his face with his hand and pulled his knees up, willing the earth to open up and swallow him immediately.
He peaked through his fingers, looking to see if Dennis had heard. Mercifully, there was music playing in the front seat and it he didn’t seem to be paying attention. He put his forehead on his knees and hid.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to embarrass you.” Dan lowered his voice. “Honestly Phil, that’s hot. I’m flattered. Maybe that’s not the appropriate response, I don’t know. Really though, it’s kind of sweet.”
At that very strange assessment, Phil lifted his eyes, raising his brows. “Sweet?”
“Yeah.” Dan breathed a laugh. “You know, when I saw you in that bakery, you were like something... from a dream. My brain was like, hey there he is. There’s the guy. It was like I’d been looking for you, without knowing I’d been looking for you, and then I found you.”
Phil wasn’t sure he was breathing to he put a hand to his chest to be sure. “Dan.” He said.
“I winked at you because I couldn’t stop and I was nervous and my default defense mechanism is to try and look cool.”
“That wink,” Phil shook his head, “that wink stayed with me.”
“I thought of you all that night.” Dan continued. “I couldn't get your face out of my head. It’s a good face.”
“I thought of you too. It was your hands though. I couldn’t get your hands out of my head.” Phil’s heart beat with the memory of that starstruck thrill.
“My hands? You went home after I winked at you and thought about my hands?”
“Yeah. I did.” Phil wasn’t hiding anymore and Dan wasn’t laughing. They were breathing in sync and talking low, tension building with every confession. “I took the picture of you out of the drawer but I’d seen you in real life and I had that wink and your dimples and your hands. So I didn’t need it.”
Dan swallowed, he set his hand on Phil’s thigh, just above his knee, and rubbed his thumb slowly back and forth. “Didn’t need it for what, Phil?”
That was all Phil could take, he didn’t care about Dennis anymore. He couldn’t remember all the good advice he’d given himself. All he knew was the hand on his leg and those lips he couldn’t take his eyes off of. He leaned in, closing the space between them, and they kissed. It was a slow, deep kiss, not unlike their first but more knowing, they’d learned each other some. They ran fingers through each other’s hair, Phil's hand roamed over Dan's back, then Dan’s hand moved. It moved up Phil’s thigh and inside between his legs before Phil’s hand flew down to stop it. Dan pulled away, apologizing, and Phil took his face in hands.
“Dan, you are not making this easy.” Phil tried to steady his breath.
“I’m trying to make it easy,” Dan muttered, his eyes half closed.
Phil shook his head and smiled at Dan, taking his hand and settling back in to his seat.
“You’re the one that said we shouldn’t skip any steps.” He said, gently.
Dan leaned back and let his head roll to one side. “I know, I know. You’re right. I’m just...very ready for the next step, Phil.”
“Ok good cuz the next step is talking.”
Dan stuck out his bottom lip. “You’re no fun.” Phil just held his hand tighter.
When the car pulled up, Dan looked to Dennis. “I’m gonna walk Phil in, ok?” Dennis gave a disapproving snarl in the rear view mirror. Leaning forward over the seat, Dan pleaded, “Please Dennis, I’ll go up the stairs, say goodnight, ten minutes. Fifteen tops.” Dennis rolled his eyes but nodded.
They rushed inside and up the stairs, holding hands. As soon as they stepped into the lounge, Phil turned and pulled Dan in, kissing again, filling every second they had. A gasp game from the sofa and they both jumped, splitting apart.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” Louise moved her laptop from her lap and jumped up in her stocking feet. She stood and curtsied deeply, looking at the rug.
Phil laughed. “Louise, what are you...get up you goof.”
Louise’s face matched the shade of her hair, pink. “But you’re the… You’re prince Daniel. Oh my god, Phil.”
“Seriously, you don’t have to do that for me.” Dan put his hand out, “You must be Louise, I’m Dan.”
She laughed a low maniacal grumble of a laugh. She couldn’t contain herself. They shook hands and she gave Phil a hug and a wide eyed, open mouthed look of wonder.
“I assume you didn’t get my text?”
Phil pulled out his phone and read, “In your hood, two hours to kill before my next meeting. Wanna hang?” then, “I’m coming over to drink your coffee and rest my tush on your sofa. See you soon.”
Louise shrugged, “You didn’t answer so... I still have the key from when you went to that thing in Australia.”
“It’s totally fine, I wasn’t paying attention to my phone.” Phil said. Dan bit back his grin and shifted his feet, avoiding eye contact with a blushing Louise. They all stood silently until Louise burst out with, “Oh! I’ve got to uh...use the toilet...I’ll probably be a while in there...so take your time.” She sprinted out of the room.
Dan started to say that he thought Louise was a hoot, but his mouth was occupied before he could finish. It was a chaste kiss, soft and pressing. Phil held him there for just long enough then closed his eyes, their foreheads touching. “Goodnight Dan. Next time, more steps.”
Dan nodded. “Goodnight wonderful Phil.”
“Actually, it’s AmazingPhil.” Phil’s crooked lips pulled up at one corner.
“Yes, yes it is. I’ll text you.” He turned to leave but stopped and said, “Phil, I’m not gonna see anybody else, OK? Just you, I just want you.”
“I just want you too.” Phil beamed.
Dan’s dimples dug in deep and he tripped on his own feet a little. Then he was gone. Within moments, Louise was there, smacking Phil on the shoulder.
“PHIL! Oh. My. God. Why are you coming home right now? Where did you sleep last night? What the hell is going on? I want details now!”
Phil plopped down onto his sofa. “Louise, he’s 18, he’s just a mass of pent up sexual energy. It’s so hard to resist.”
“So don’t! Are you mad? Help the poor man out!”
“I need a shower.” he saw Louise’s look, “it’s not like that! We went to a party, we didn’t do anything. I just didn't shower over there, that’s all.”
“Ok, dollface. I’m sorry, I’m just so bloody excited for you. He’s the prince for cripe’s sake. And he is lush. That arse alone.”
“Louise!”
“Sorry sorry sorry. I’ll be heading out before you get out of the shower so thanks for the use of your sofa and for introducing me to your boyfriend.” She shimmied her shoulders and began gathering her things.
“He’s not my boyfriend, oh my god. Good bye Louise.” He walked toward his room.
Louise called after him, “Bye Philly, remember the little people when you’re royalty!”
Phil slipped off his shoes and shuffled to his dresser, looking down at his feet in Dan’s socks. Smiling, he walked back to the door, then back to the dresser, watching his feet all the way. He could almost pretend Dan was walking with him and he loved it. He undressed for the shower, leaving the socks for last.

I don't know if you've watched the full S8 finale yet, but what are your thoughts on it?
(Sorry foranswering so late, I was kept busy >_
So I didwatch it entirely and, if it may not be my favourite finale, it’sdefinitely a really interesting and entertaining one (and hey ! It starts withDerpy so it can only be good !). Now, for my thoughts of it, here’s some kindof review :
First off,I like the way they made the story. It’s interesting to have two differentplots, making it possible to focus on the school while still making the Mane 6be active (but I must admit “To Where And Back Again” is my second favouritefinale and the mane 6 are barely doing anything, but it’s true that the contextwas different). Although, the mane 6 plot feels a bit too rushed in my opinion.Like, by the end of the first part, the only thing left in their plot was totake magic to open the door while at the same moment Cozy Glow still hadn’ttaken over the school. But despite it, it’s still a good way to make the plotaround the school and justify the mane 6 absence while still having their questbe shown.
Now, forthe scenario, in the little scenes I saw before the entire thing, one of themwas the scene with Rarity complaining about being unable to brush her tail andI must admit seeing only this scene made it hilarious because this is so much asituation in which you can have 2/3 of ponykind being like “geeze, it suresucks to live like a pegasus or earth pony, you know, what we are -_-“. Buthonestly the episode made a pretty good job to avoid this “unicorns/alicornsare superior” cliché thanks to scenes showing that magic is actually everywherein their world, like how we see Pinkie’s food not lasting or Rainbow sayingshe’s unable to move the clouds. So yeah, it’s another good thing.
As for themagic disappearing plot, it’s an interesting one. It’s great to see howEquestria would actually struggle at all levels without magic (although itfeels like they may still be able to survive, it would just need some bigadaptations, especially in terms of making food last or dealing with anunpredictable weather) and I like how they tied it with Tirek, a magic stealercreature; which makes sense to accuse him. Though, I’m kind of weird out as tohow the artefacts are able to take magic like that. I know Tirek told Cozy howto do it so there must be something behind it but still…and speaking of it, howdoes Tirek know about the power of 6 artefacts coming from species he may notknow nothing about ?? (considering he wanted to take Equestria’s magic in atime when ponies were enemies with other species (Changelings, Dragons, possibly Griffons) or didn’t care about them (Yaks, Hippogriffs) )
Now, I wantto talk about Cozy individually so let’s skip the school part for now and talkabout Tartarus. It’s really interesting to finally see this place after yearsof knowing it exist. However, I kind of have two issues about it. First of, itlooks so small ! I mean, it’s true that there’s some kind of path on the cornerof the screen in one scene but overall it’s just a long corridor with Tirek’s prisonat the end of it ! Isn’t it supposed to be the equivalent of hell or at leastsome big prison ? And my second issue, also partly related to what the place issupposed to be : why are there so many creatures from Everfree ?! What are theydoing there ? Sure, they attacked the ponies but when you think of it they’rejust wild animals living in a forest who is known to be threatening; andhalf these animals have been tamed in the past by Fluttershy who says here thatthey aren’t monsters !
Seriously :
- thechicken thing (Cockatrice in French but I’m not sure of the English name) canbe easily tamed and lives in Everfree which, again, is considered as adangerous place that ponykind should avoid.
- theManticore is the same deal but less dangerous (because you don’t instantly diesby looking at them)
- theTiger/Goat/Serpent chimera lives in a random place full of fire and I’m prettysure not a lot of ponies go there (well, yeah, you have Starlight, Trixie andthose mail ponies but like Applejack they probably know how to remain safes)
- thebugbear seems more of a threat but can still be defeated and sent back toEverfree
Also areyou telling me that random animals are sent in hell because they arepotentially a threat but next to that actual threats like Chrysalis arefree ? Really ? So yeah, I’m sorry but having these creatures here just feellike the creators being too lazy to create new species (although it’s true thatwe see other cages with creatures but they aren’t put under the spotlight)
- and yetthe Timberwolves, the ones who were seen as the most dangerous animals inEverfree, aren’t here
…You knowwhat ? When you consider it, these animals being here actually get rid of oneplot-hole : Everfree being a forest with no creatures and “pretty littleflowers” in “The Mean 6”  X)
But despitethese two points, the scenes in Tartarus are very interesting. The moments withFluttershy are just amazing. Honestly, the scene when she comforts thecreatures and the one with Cerberus are adorable and her expression when sheencourage the creatures is just the best ! Also, when Twilight drains the magicof the others, I find it quite interesting to see them being actual differentseparated animals when magic-less…and then I started to think of how much of azoo it would be if Discord had to give his magic like that and now I can’t stopimagining the bunch of animals that he is all snuggling against Fluttershywhile a grey stallion with a tornado cutie mark (and a grey horn instead of ablue one I guess since the antlers would have given an other animal ?) would belooking away, blushing while saying something like “I swear they all have amind of their own, it’s definitely not my feelings rubbing on them !”. (sorry;I’m a shipper)
Anotherthing I love about these scenes is the moment they decide to weaponize PinkiePie. It’s just always funny when her randomness is used to make people loosetheir shit (and hey ! At least we know that Pinkie still has her magic in sucha crisis !) and, as badass as Tirek can be, it still fits to see him beingharassed by Pinkie. But honestly we need more situations with Pinkie or evenFluttershy being weaponized (and with Flutters, it would be her cuteness, likeher puppy eyes in “Fluttershy Leans In”). Seriously, you know you need toweaponize someone when you have episodes like “To Where And Back Again” inwhich the enemy uses one of the protagonists as a weapon (aka theFluttershy trap).
Now, aboutthe student 6…to be honest, I didn’t find their appearance to be as “strong” asin some previous episodes. I mean, clearly they are the ones saving the schooland we see them working together and all; but, in my opinion, Cozy is the onewho completely steals the show in the school plot. Although, I like how, foronce, we saw a bit more of Sandbar; and I like how his first thoughts againstthe Chancellor was to make sure to be out to get help, giving him kind of aclever side. Also, random detail but I like how he’s called a child but isvisibly taller than the CMCs, reminding that the trio are still pre-teens, like11-12 while Sandbar is probably like 15. And speaking of the CMCs, it’s good tofinally see them in a premiere/finale; but their role is kind of limited, making it a bit sad.
But I mustadmit, the student 6 are still a delight to watch and their interactions arestill great and adorable. Though, a little thing that kind of bothers me is howthey don’t trust Cozy from the beginning. I mean, coming from Smolder or evenGallus, I’m not surprised considering where they come from. But for the others,it just feels like they don’t trust her because they’re main characters; andeven if at one point they show Sandbar liking how friendly she is, if Iremember correctly the feeling is quickly dismissed by the rest of the group.
One last thingI really liked is this shot at the end with the princesses and an entire army, including both day and night guards, which is a good touch. Although I do havean issue about this scene but I’ll talk about it later on the post.
Now, withmost the story said, I wanted to go back to two characters : the twoantagonists (god is this post going to be long)
First off,Tirek. When I saw him in the SDCC trailer, I was really hyped to see him again, and honestly I wasn’t disappointed. Sure, he isn’t as badass and intimidatingas he previously was, but that was the point of it; and if they did add humoraround him, he still feels like a good character. He’s clearly in a badsituation, put into a cell with no way to escape. So when a random pony askshim about how to steal magic, it’s not surprise that he finds it funny andcan’t resist helping her out. After all, he has nothing to loose; and seeingthe mane 6 in a bad situation surely feels like revenge to him (at least untilthey reminded him that they were stuck with him and they deployed Pinkie onhim). And despite that bad situation, he’s clearly in control in his firstdialogue with the group since he’s the one with the answers they seek; and heclearly has fun about it (and even making Pinkie uncomfortable…sighs I swear if people made fanart of Pinkieflirting with the statue in Griffonstone, there’s going to be weird shit aboutthis episode…). However, I found it a bit sad that none of his previousappearance was really mentioned. Seriously, if someone starts the show withthis season (like kids who only watch on TV), all they will no about him isthat he once was a threat and stole magic. But they won’t know anything abouthow he stole magic and was able to use it, about how he manipulated Discord oreven how Twilight had to face him with all alicorn’s magic in an epic fight. The only callback we have seems to be how Fluttershy was the most scared aboutthe idea of Tirek coming back, considering that Twilight and her were the oneswho went through the worst during Tirek’s attack (with Twi having to deal withthe biggest responsibility alone and Flutters going through Discord’sbetrayal); and even so I think she’s shown as being terrified because she’sFluttershy, not because of what happened in the past…
So yeah, good appearance and personality but maybe more callbacks may have been good(and heck, in “Twilight’s Kingdom”, Tirek teams up with Discord before beingbeaten by friendship and here he’s penpals with Cozy. Honestly there wasmaterial for a small callback)
As for thesecond villain, Cozy Glow, gosh is she great ! Honestly it was obvious thatshe’s the manipulative little kid but damn ! It’s almost Gideon’s level(character from “Gravity Falls”); and I just love it ! Especially forone detail I think : she’s powerless. Until now, all antagonists were eithermagic beasts with their own abilities (Discord, Tirek) or had a horn to usemagic (Nightmare moon, Chrysalis, Sombra, Starlight, Stygian). But Cozy Glow ?She’s a simple pegasus. So it’s understandable why she would try to puteveryone on her side, especially considering she actually seeks friendship forpower. And her ways to manipulate are really felt. When she talks to theChancellor or the student 6 in front of the rest of the school, she doesn’thesitate to cut the others and she clearly has full control of theconversations. Also her evil laugh just sounds creepily crazy and it’s great. But um…maybe the skull and the mane 6 dolls were a bit too much…
Anotherthing I really like about her is how she’s the reasons Neighsay had achange of heart through some good cruel irony : during the entire season,Neighsay had been shown to fear the student 6, claiming that they would usemagic as a form of power against Equestria. But suddenly, he finds himself infront of a pony who is doing exactly what he feared (and thenlater on the student 6 helping him surely made him truly see they don’t wishany harm). And speaking of that, little detail but I like how Cozy is actuallymad when the Chancellor push away the student 6 files, because to her they aremembers of the school that she can use.
But yeah,Cozy truly is a good villain who really knows how to keep control over thesituation. Also, it’s kind of genius how they still reminded us that she’sstill a child with how she used fricking duct tape to stick the school’slogo on her crown. One last good thing I could say about her is how she mayeasily go into the category of strong villains and one of the things making itpossible is that, when you think of it, she doesn’t have a backstory (unlikeactually all the others pony threats), making her being evil just to be evil.
As fornegative points, honestly I would give just one : the fact that Celestiadecided to sent her to Tartarus, literally hell while next to that youstill have Chrysalis on the run, Chrysalis who isn’t a child unlikeCozy.
Finally, Iwanted to point out some random details that I find a bit bothering but theyare more stuff like what you may find in a “Everything Wrong With” video so it may be a bit picky :
- Why isYona always the one who almost die ?! Hasbro, what do you have against thatpoor adorable thing ?
- It mayjust be me who wanted it to be more explicit but the way the three days are putis a bit confusing. Like, when they went to Canterlot, it was the first day.But then, when they leave the school, we only see one night happening andbefore it creatures already lost their power so does that mean they went awayon the second day ? Again, it’s being extremely picky but it kind of bothers me(and again, these points are the kind you can find in “EWW” videos who aren’tpopular to never be picky).
-Additionally, it means that the mane 6 took less than 24 hours to reachTartarus, which is who knows where.
- So by thetime they are in Canterlot and get Starswirl’s letter, it’s the first day, which means that creatures still have their magic…I know it has always been abig plot-hole but why couldn’t Fluttershy or Spike call for a noodle godex-machina ? Or at least mention him or saying something like him sending aletter telling them that he refused to try solving their problem if it meantrisking loosing his magic or something (and speaking of this, if the Chaosrealm is affected by what happens, considering the creatures living in it, I’mpretty sure Discord almost died after the second day).
- Twilighttelling Rarity that she finally learned that she couldn’t save the worldalone…um…guys…you’re doing an episode with Tirek in it and yet you forgot about“Twilight’s Kingdom” ? You know, the episode where the mane 6 say about how inthe past they were standing the same way in front of the Everfree forest andTwilight said something like “And at that time I was foolish enough to think Icould do it alone”; or how Twi wanted to warn her friends about the shit happeningbut Celestia told her to keep it secret. So yeah, Twilight learned likefour seasons ago that she needed her friends, and they are aware of it.
- Twilightsays at one point that she went to Tartarus in the past, but when ?? Was itwhen she brought back Cerberus in season 2 or did we miss something cool thatwasn’t shown ?
- How doesTirek know that Twilight is the princess of friendship ? Wasn’t she called thatway after he was defeated ?
- Sandbarbeing out of apples in an apple farm…I’m sorry but he just wanted tokill Apple Bloom (heck, looking at the episode to write that part of the post,he has a fricking anvil next to him !).
- Soapparently there’s a fricking mail system in hell ? And no one checks theletters of the most dangerous creature kept here ? Really ?
- As saidbefore, how can the artefacts take magic like that ? And how can Starlight betrapped in it ?
- The treeex-machina. Honestly I already found it confusing to have the three being underthe school (how did it get here ?? From Twilight’s castle ?) but having himacting and even making the elements out of the student 6 just feels like someex-machina save (although I easily forgive it because the elements being someex-machina stuff has always been a thing)
- Celestiaand Luna being like “An evil centaur trying to steal magic ? A god of Chaos ?An evil king ? meh, let’s get rid of it by ourselves. What ? A child with nomagic took over a school full of ponies who will surely listen to us, theleaders of the country, rather than this kid ? WE NEED THE ARMY !”. Seriously, what the heck Celestia ? It’s a kid ! And she’s not even an unicorn !
- Alsowasn’t it shown from Rainbow that pegasis can still fly ? Why didn’t theprincesses went to the school flying, possibly with some pegasis guards ? Andwhy do they start flying the moment they get their magic back ?!
- Again, they sent a kid to hell ! What the heck Celestia ?! EvenTirek is like “wait what ?” !
Phew, well here are my thoughts about this episode !I hope it’s not too annoying to read considering how long it is !

Tea, Aspirin, and a Knight in Shining Armor
You’d been looking forward to this night for far too long, having purchased the tickets for this gig almost 6 months in advance. It was going to be a small, intimate gig for one of your favorite bands, childcare. Your heart was racing from excitement as you stood outside the venue, ticket in hand. There were only a few minutes until doors and you wanted to get a good place inside.
“Hey, uh - excuse me, sorry, have you seen a guy, slightly taller than me, beard, and probably a shirt with cats on it?” A tall, dark haired man with brilliant blue eyes asks you, slightly fidgeting uncomfortably. “I was supposed to meet him here but I don’t see him anywhere in the queue.” He motions to the line behind you.
Biting your lip, scouring your memory for this mysterious missing man, you shake your head. “No I- I don’t think so, sorry...” you say, feeling slightly bad for being unhelpful.
“Fuck, it’s alright though, thanks anyways,” he says, running a hand through this dark hair. A slight smirk graces his lips. “I suppose this is what I get for being late to everything all the time.” The way his laugh intertwines with his words makes something in your stomach flutter. He was very....adorable.
You smile softly up at him, noticing the dimples on his freckled cheeks. A moment of silence passes and he’s still standing in front of you. “I’m Dan by the way,” he interjects, offering a hand. You take it, shaking it quickly before offering your own name.
Suddenly, the line ahead of you starts moving quickly toward the entrance.... looks like you were too busy with Dan to notice that it was now doors. “Well, looks like we got to go... enjoy the gig!” You say turning on your heel and giving him a small wave over your shoulder. Sure this stranger was cute and charming, but you cared about the gig way more.
A few songs into the set, you notice a slightly familiar face in the corner of your eye. Tall? Dark, messy hair? Blue eyes behind tortoise shell glasses? Must be Dan surely enough. You tear your eyes away from the stage for a moment, just long enough to look to your left and confirm that it is Dan standing a person away from you. Some part deep inside you wants to go over to him and wonders if he’s thinking the same thing about you.
You’re snapped out of your reverie by the ending of the song, and a flaring of the stage lights. You had an incredible view, practically first row, which was way more incredible than you ever could’ve imagined. It was easy to lose yourself in the upbeat songs that you’ve scream-sang along to so many times.
Suddenly, someone’s shoulder collides into yours and you’re pushed to floor, more bodies shove against you and your head hits the hard ground. Dozens of pairs of feet start to fill your vision. Pushing yourself up on your elbows, a large hand with slender fingers reaches down to help you up. You gratefully take the hand, not realizing who it belonged to.
Head spinning, you unconsciously put and arm onto the person who just helped you up to strady yourself.
“Are you alright?” The person shouts over the loud music. You knew that voice. Of course you had to fall and get nearly trampled right in front of Dan. He places a hand on your waist to steady you.
“My head...” you mumble, touching a hand to your forehead gently. The immediate pain told you that was not the best idea. A throbbing pain began from the base of your skull and continued all the way to right behind your eyes.
“Come on let’s get you out of here,” Dan says, quieter than before. He keeps a hand on your waist as he leads the two of you to the entrance of the venue. Every step you take seems to cause another place on your head to hurt, and by the time you make it to the doors, your eyes are squeezed shut.
A warm hand brushes some hair away from your face and you flinch away, the slightest bit of touch being unbearable. “Shit that doesn’t look good. I should call an ambulance, head injuries are really serious,” Dan says all too quickly, fishing through his pockets for his phone. Your hand shoots out to stop him.
“No! No, really it’s probably not that serious,” You refute. Not to mention, you would not be able afford those kind of medical bills. Despite the pain still being pretty bad, it was not worth a hospital trip.
Dan, looking very unimpressed with your argument, pulls out his phone anyway and unlocks it. He pauses before dialing to give you a hard, and serious look, his blue eyes turning icy and cold. “It is serious, you could have a concussion or who knows what!”
You place a hand on his shoulder- partly to keep yourself upright- and stare up at him. “I’m begging you, please don’t call. I’ll be fine, okay?” He stares back at you intensely, a moment of electricity charged silence passing. You breathe a sigh of relief when he finally puts his phone back into the pocket of his denim jacket.
“Okay, but I’m not just gonna let you out on the streets of London alone like this.” Dan takes your hand off of his shoulder and takes it in his. “How bout you come to my flat and you could have a cup of tea and probably some much needed painkillers?”
Your heart flutters, and you force yourself to break eye contact for a brief moment to have a chance of thinking clearly about this situation. Going to a person you just met barely an hour ago’s flat? Sure, he was cute, and very kind… Dan did have a point, you were certainly in no state whatsoever to somehow make it back to yours on your own. A cup of tea did sound good. You squeeze his hand and look back at him.
“Okay, you’re right. Thank you,” You say, nodding sheepishly.
Dan’s eyes light up, pleased that you agreed to let him help you. “Great. I don’t live to far from here- it’s just about a five minute walk.”
What did you get yourself into?
---
Dan’s flat was not really what you expected, if you’re being completely honest. Although you’re not quite sure what it was that you were expecting. It was clear that he had roommates, two at the very least. Not to mention the random tree stump that was next to a coffee table. But nevertheless, the flat seemed to match Dan, it was homey and… endearing.
You were currently sat on a sofa, while Dan was boiling water for tea. He had given you some aspirin before disappearing into the kitchen, which you were eternally grateful for. Sitting further back into the couch, and trying to ignore the persisting pain, you close your eyes. Since when were you tired? Or do the lights just hurt your eyes too much? Regardless of reason, you had somehow become very cozy on this semi-stranger’s couch.
“You okay there?” You hear Dan shout from the kitchen. You internally roll your eyes.
“Mate,” You laugh. “I’m fine! Well as fine as I could be.” You open your eyes, and catch Dan walking toward you, a cup of tea in each hand.
“Just making sure, I wouldn’t want you to faint on my watch,” He chuckles, handing you one of the cups. The familiar warmth seeps into your hands as you gratefully take it from him. He smiles at you, a crooked front tooth peeking out. What a guy. He takes a seat across from you on the tree stump. So that’s why that’s there? You try and fail to hide your giggle behind the mug.
His features change, and he pushes up the sleeves of his shirt. “What’s so funny? Or have you gone hysterical from hitting your head?” He says, trying to hide his insecurity.
“Well first of all, why do you have a random tree stump in your living room? And second of all, I don’t know… You’re cute.” Feeling the tips of your cheeks redden, you smile down into your cup.
“Now you are delusional. Maybe I should’ve taken you to the hospital, after all.” He laughs again, then clears his throat. “Speaking of, how’s your head?”
“Still hurts, but hopefully the painkillers will kick in soon.” You sip on your tea. “Thank you for saving me back there, I probably would’ve been trampled. Sorry you had to miss out on the rest of the gig though,” You say, feeling slightly bad that this man has been so kind and generous to you, and you don’t really have anything to offer in return.
“Oh it’s no problem really, I’ve seen them plenty of times. I’ve actually seen way too much of them, especially Ed, really.” Dan shifts on the log.
“How do you mean?” You ask, utterly confused.
“I’m kinda his roomate.”
You choke on your tea. “W-what?” It’s safe to say you weren’t expecting that. Setting down the cup, you rub your hands on your jeans, unsure of what to do with them.
“Yeah,” He laughs. “I live with him and two other mates of mine. They’re all at the gig right now,” He adds, nodding. There’s a moment of awkward silence before either of you speak again.
“You never answered my question.” You look back at Dan, who raises his gaze to yours. He gestures for you to continue. “Why the fuck do you have that log?” You can’t help but giggle, of all the ways you thought tonight would end up, it was definitely not including this conversation.
He looks you straight in the eyes and says “Well, the thing is… this log… it’s kinda my wife. We’re married,” He deadpans.
You raise an eyebrow. “I take it you’re a fan of Twin Peaks.” He eagerly nods.
“It’s only the best television show out there,” He says, so excitedly that his voice goes high and raspy at the end.
“So that would make you what... the Log Man?” You can’t help but burst out into laughter, this was an interesting conversation. “Ow, okay, I’ve just discovered it hurts to laugh,” You say, tenderly touching your head.
“That’s a shame, because you have beautiful laugh,” Dan says tenderly, standing up and moving over to be next to you on the sofa. The sudden close proximity and his comment have you blushing again. Dan places a gentle hand on your chin, and guides your face to look at his. His gaze is concerned and calculating. “That’s definitely bruising,” Referring to the bump on your head. A moment passes between you, and your gaze drops to Dan’s lips. You want to kiss him. But before you can, he releases your chin and pops up. “You know, I’ll go get you some ice to put on that.”
Your lips part, as if to say something, or to stop him but nothing comes out. He returns, not a minute later with a bunch of ice wrapped up in a towel. You take it from him, and gingerly place it on your forehead. “Um, thanks.” You expect him to sit across from you on the log again, but he instead sits next to you, his thigh touching yours.
Dan suggests maybe watching a movie or some tv and you choose the latter. Predictably, he chooses Twin Peaks, which you had both seen multiple times. Conversation starts, first about the odd television show, and then drifting to deeper topics, the show becoming the soundtrack for your dialogue. You find out some of his history, and you even suspect he’s told you things he’s never said out loud. You’re honored. You reciprocate, telling him about your life and your hobbies. If you weren’t falling for him before, you definitely were now. You couldn’t help but admire the way his features relax with contentment when he talks about writing songs (he’s in a band), and the way he can’t wipe that stupid smile off his face when he talks about something he loves. And his eyes and his mouth and that crooked tooth and well, everything.
The show pauses and the abrupt silencing of your soundtrack stopped your conversation. The screen read “Are you still watching Twin Peaks?” And you realized that it’s probably gotten very late.
“I should probably get going,” you say reluctantly, looking for your coat. The pain from your head has finally reduced to a dull ache and you hadn’t shown any signs of a concussion.
Dan stands up, making way for you to put on your coat. “I had a really nice time talking to you, y/n,” Dan says sincerely.
“Me too-“ you walk toward the door slowly, not wanting to leave. “-thank you again for saving me and making sure I was alright.” You go in for a hug, reaching up onto your tip toes to wrap your arms around his neck. His hands linger on your waist as you pull away and you miss his warmth.
“It was my pleasure, and thanks for the company.” He releases you from the embrace and shoves his hands into his pockets.
Standing in the doorway, you smile at him, unsure of what to do in this slightly awkward situation.
“I’m so grateful for tonight, is there anything i can offer you in return?” You ask, raising your eyebrows.
“Your number?” Dan says, smirking.
All you can do it smile back at him.

In the grand scheme of things, gaming chairs haven't been around that long. That said, in the short time they've been around, they have exploded. It's easy to dismiss them as just a fad brought on by Twitch streamers, at least until you've sat in one.
A gaming chair is basically a super comfortable, often super-adjustable office chair. Slap a few splashes of color on it and, in this case, the name of a well-known esports brand, and all of a sudden it costs much more than a standard office chair.
That can't be worth the price tag, can it?
Design
Tumblr media
If you're even remotely familiar with esports, you're probably familiar with the Fnatic name. In case you're not, Fnatic is an esports brand with several teams across major games including League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Fortnite, Dota 2, Rainbow Six: Siege, and more.
Now that you definitely know what Fnatic is, it's important to know that it doesn't matter. What really matters is whether you like the look of the team's name and logo on your chair.
The Fnatic name appears prominently on the chair's trim and the lumbar support pillow. Its logo appears on that same pillow and is emblazoned on the back of the chair, albeit in a relatively classy black-on-black print.
The AndaSeat name also appears, but less prominently. Neither of these really matters as much as the color scheme, which is eye-catching, to say the least. While most of the chair is black, the splashes of orange—the same used in Fnatic's official logo—offset this nicely, with just enough asymmetry to give the chair a modern look.
This orange extends to the controls for the height adjustment and rocking function underneath the chair. Aesthetically this is nice, but it also makes these easier to spot if you're peeking under the chair trying to find them.
Features
You might be thinking "What features? It's a chair!" Clearly, you've never met a gaming chair before.
Part of the sleek look of the AndaSeat Fnatic Edition comes down to the PVC leather. This is meant not just to look nice, but to add to the chair's comfort as well.
The chair also features much larger pillows than what I've typically seen on gaming chairs. The lumbar pillow specifically is both wider and taller, without being so large as to promote back issues rather than keep them at bay.
Most of the time, you need to choose between a chair that rocks back or a chair with an adjustable backrest. The AndaSeat Fnatic Edition gives you both, with a recline angle up to 160 degrees as well as a rocking mode.
Finally, the chair features what AndaSeat refers to as "4D armrests." This is a fancy-sounding feature that basically means these are super-adjustable armrests that can go up, down, in, out, forward, and backward. You can even rotate them laterally.
We'll see how these features actually stack up in a little bit, but first let's look at what it's like putting the chair together.
Assembling the Chair
Tumblr media
The AndaSeat Fnatic Edition came out of the box less assembled than I've ever encountered with a chair before. This didn't make it any more difficult to assemble than any other chair, but there were a few more steps involved.
You should have no problem assembling the chair by yourself. The included manual does a good job of walking you through the steps and everything you need to put the chair together is in the box, including a dual-sided hex wrench.
The most difficult portion of assembly—and one that I've found equally difficult on other gaming chairs—is attaching the back of the seat to the bottom. Lining up the screws with their posts, which are somewhat inside of the material on the back of the chair, is slightly tricky, but you'll get it with a little time.
Despite the fact that this chair is heavy, even for a gaming chair, lifting the body of the chair on to the wheel assembly wasn't difficult. I imagine this has something to do with how the weight is balanced, because I've had a harder time with lighter chairs.
Overall, this was probably the easiest build I've ever had with a gaming chair. If only the factory had the same luck.
Build Quality
Tumblr media
Overall the chair feels solid and well-built. I'm sure part of this solid feel has to do with the sheer weight. That said, there were some spots that felt a little flimsy.
Specifically, the armrests—which AndaSeat talks a big game on—felt a little cheap. In my case, the button for adjusting the height of the left armrest sticks, meaning you need to manually push it back down in order to get it to stay put.
Fortunately, none of the other buttons for adjusting the armrest have any issues. Moving them forward, backward, or toward or away from your body works as intended. Adjusting the angle of the armrests always feels a little like I'm about to break them, but so far they've held up fine.
The AndaSeat Fnatic Edition is also one of the most well-balanced chairs I've ever encountered. Leaning the back of the chair back as far as it will go, engaging the rocking mechanism, and leaning back feels like you should fall over. Thanks to the heavy base and the Z-shape design, you don't.
This isn't exactly practical, but it is fun. Speaking of which, this chair feels like it features almost no rotational resistance. If you judge a chair by how many spins you can get out of it, prepare to get a little dizzy.
Comfort
Tumblr media
Given the price combined with the issues with the relatively cheap-feeling armrests, I was ready to write this chair off as absolutely not worth it. Then I sat in it and all of a sudden, those other issues didn't seem to matter as much.
One of the major factors in just how comfortable the AndaSeat Fnatic Edition feels is the use of memory foam in both the bottom and back of the chair. Even before verifying on the AndaSeat site, I could tell it was memory foam, partly by the feel, but also by that tell-tale smell of freshly unboxed memory foam.
The neck pillow and lumbar support pillow use memory foam as well. This means both of them feel firmer than the pillows I've used on similar but lower-priced chairs in the past. I personally like this, but your mileage may vary here.
The "4D armrest" feature is something I've never encountered on a chair, and aside from the issues I mentioned above, this helps a great deal with comfort as well. Setting the armrests low, far forward, and tilted outward almost gave the chair the feeling of a high-tech take on an old-fashioned wingback chair.
Tumblr media
My expectations weren't all that high when I first signed on to review this chair. Having tested gaming chairs before, I just figured this one be another one of those. I was wrong.
This is the most expensive chair I've tested to date, which I initially chalked up to the Fnatic name being attached. That said, it was far more comfortable than similar chairs in the $300 range that I've tried in the past.
One thing to keep in mind if you're considering buying the AndaSeat Fnatic Edition is that if you've got a smaller build, the fit may be odd. I'm not a small person, but even for me, the chair felt somewhat on the wide side.
Compared to a standard office chair or even a gaming chair, the AndaSeat felt more like sitting down in an armchair. Some people, even smaller people, will love this, but it's not what you may be expecting.
On the company's website, it mentions a recommended height range of 180cm (roughly 5'10") to 210cm (roughly 6'10"). Similarly, when it comes to weight, AndaSeat recommends 150kg (330lbs) or less, though the maximum static load is 200kg (440lbs).
Should You Buy The AndaSeat Fnatic Edition?
The AndaSeat Fnatic Edition is pricey, not Acer Predator Thronos Air pricey, but still pricey.
It also had some surprising issues with build quality, and it is quite frankly completely unnecessary. If that's the case, why am I still feeling the urge to recommend it? Probably because I'm sitting in it as I write this review.
After I'd gathered my own notes on the AndaSeat Fnatic Edition, I looked around the web to see if others had encountered the same issues I had with the armrests. It seems I may have just reviewed the odd bad unit. This makes the AndaSeat far easier to recommend.
Yes, for the price of this chair, you could almost buy one of the next-generation video game consoles. That said, this chair isn't only for gaming. If you spend a lot of time sitting in front of a desk, for any reason, the extra comfort throughout the day may be well worth the price of entry.

Carver honestly wasn’t expecting much when Lirene told them the clinic was in Darktown, he figured it had to be shoddy of course, but when they got there, he understood why so many people tried to stop them. The place was full of sick and elderly folks, all coughing and stewing in filth around them, what was more surprising was that not all of them were Ferelden refugees either. Some of them were definitely Kirkwallers, which amazed Carver considering he knew exactly how most Kirkwallers felt about the refugees who came after the Blight.
Ant almost stopped halfway through, looking at those around them, looking like he might just roll up his sleeves and start casting and entirely blow their cover. Carver knew that as soon as Antony stopped, so would Bethany, and they’d never get their work done. Doing his job as a little brother best, he shoved Ant with his shoulder, jarring the oldest Hawke sibling out of whatever funk he was about to fall in. Varric chuckled at the two brothers, before following behind as they approached the back of the makeshift clinic.
Carver could see the tell tale glow of magic, though this seemed more experienced than any of the minor healing spells their father had taught his siblings. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a man with a staff on his back, stand up to his full height. Multiple mages? Carver thought Lirene only spoke of one healer, but it didn’t matter, they were now close enough to see who was casting the blue light. He was taller than Carver expected, and blonde, and completely engaged in the magic he was casting over the young boy laid out on the table. After a moment, the boy gasped and sat up, coughing a bit as his body registered whatever happened to him. The healer himself, staggered back, leaning against a pillar to catch his breath. Ant started to step closer as the family gathered up the boy and headed for the exit. Ant hadn’t even reached the cot before the healer whipped around, staff in hand.
“I approximate you have about two minutes to explain why you’re bringing weapons into a medical clinic before I decide I don’t really care why you’re here. There are injured and innocent here, only looking for help,” he said, trying to hide his fatigue with a sarcastic tone. Carver only heard the sound of a sword scraping against its scabbard before he realized he should have paid more attention to the other mage he saw. The other man he had seen had finally turned around, and was making his way towards the healer with a shortsword drawn and aimed in their direction.
“If you’re Carta, I’ve already made our payments for the next two months. You’d best bully somewhere else if you’re short on coin,” the man said, making a gesture with his sword to point to the door, making sure they knew exactly where he wanted them to go. Bethy had already raised her hands placatingly, and Ant stopped in his tracks, copying Bethany’s motion unknowingly.
“I’m just here to talk!” Ant said, looking at his companions to make sure none of them had drawn their weapons.
“We’re interested in getting into the Deep Roads. Rumor has it you were a Warden. Do you know a way?” Varric asked, getting to the point immediately. The two men looked between themselves wearily.
“Did the Wardens send you to bring us back? We’re not going, those bastards wanted us to get rid of our cat,” the healer said, starting to lower his staff. The other man still held his sword aloft, not lowering his guard for a second.
“Not quite what I’d lead with darling,” the other man, who must have also been a warden, said. Carver couldn’t quite figure it out, but something was familiar about this man.
“Poor Ser-Pounce-A-Lot, he hated the Deep Roads, though I’m not sure if he likes Darktown that much more,” the healer rambled. Carver couldn’t for the life of him figure out where this conversation was going.
“You had a cat named Ser-Pounce-A-Lot? In the Deep Roads?” Ant asked, Carver almost smacked his face with his palm, of course that was what Ant was interested by.
“Still have, actually. He was a gift, a noble beast indeed. Almost got ripped in half by a genlock once. He swatted the bugger on the nose. Drew blood, too.” he said, his gaze going distant as he recalled the memory. The other man rolled his eyes before returning his attention to the Hawkes and Varric.
“So you came to Kirkwall just to escape the Wardens?” Ant asked, seemingly trying to keep things casual, but if Carver knew his brother, Ant was genuinely curious.
“You say that like it’s a small thing, and not quite. Yes, we’re here because there’s no Warden outpost, no darkspawn, and a whole host of refugees to blend in with. And, some personal reasons of our own,” the healer explained. The other man shot him an annoyed look, probably because he was giving them far too much information, but clearly this healer was quite a trusting person. The look the other man gave, so fiercely reminded Carver of the very same looks his own mother gave him when he annoyed her, he couldn’t figure out how he and the healer knew each other. Or why Carver himself felt like he knew the man as well.
“I’ve always heard that joining the Wardens is for life?” Ant went on, clearly confused as to why and how they left.
“It is,” The other man said “But being a Warden is more than the bulky armor and stupid speeches about victory and death,” he had finally started to lower his sword as he spoke, but did not put it away.
“Well, it’s partly true,” the healer contradicted, “The “hopelessly tainted by darkspawn” and “plauged by nightmares about the Archdemon” parts don’t go away. But it turns out if you hide well, you don’t have to wear the uniform or go to the parties,” he said, a smirk tugging at his lips.
    “Anders!” the other man admonished.
“What? You hated the nobles too, oh you mean the Warden secrets right, sorry,” Anders said, wincing at his slip up. Varric was clearly trying not to laugh at the two men, and instead coughed to get Ant’s attention back on their goal.
“Oh right! I’m part of an expedition into the Deep Roads. Any information you have could save people’s lives,” Ant said, putting emphasis on the latter half of the sentence.
“Save yourselves the trouble of going down there in the first place,” The other man said, scoffing, he ended up cocking his hips to the side, in just the same way Carver had seen Bethy do thousands of times. Anders the healer had a little chuckle at the other man’s words before finally turning to Ant, with what seemed like a serious answer on his lips.
“I will die a happy man if I never think of the blighted Deep Roads ever again. You can’t imagine what we went through to get here. I’m not interested in- Although,” he starts, looking to his partner before continuing, “A favor for a favor, does that sound like a fair deal? You help us, we help you?” he finished, looking to the other man with hope on his face. Ant started to smile, and Carver knew that they’d be knee deep in spider guts before the end of this, or somethings guts at least.
“Help my expedition reach the Deep Roads, and I’ll do whatever you need,” Ant said, signing them all to their fates of taking care of whatever these two wanted, without even asking what they needed help with, of course. The two men seemed to realize this as well, Anders’ eyebrows shooting up as the other man finally put his sword away.
“You don’t ask for my terms? What if I were asking for the knight-commander’s head on a pike?” Anders said, tossing around a hypothetical Carver prayed would never come to pass, for both Bethany and Ant’s sakes.
“Is that what you ask?” Ant asked back, sounding genuinely surprised. It took all of Carver’s strength to not strangle him right there. Anders just smirked before responding, as if imagining the sight.
“You decide,” he finally settled on, then continued “We have a Warden map of the depths in this area. But there’s a price. We came to Kirkwall to aid a friend, a mage, a prisoner in the wretched Gallows. The templars learned of my plans to free him. Help us bring him safely past them, and you shall have your maps.” Ant started nodding as if it was all done. Carver couldn’t help but speak up.
“What exactly do the templars know of your plans?” he asked, stepping forward. Anders and the other man looked at him in surprise, then answered.
“We aren’t sure, Anders had been passing letters to Karl through a maidservant in the Gallows. Then, we stopped hearing anything at all,” The other man said, looking at him approvingly.
“Tell us about your friend,” Bethany asked, speaking up at last, clearly curious about how someone seemingly from the Ferelden Grey Wardens knew someone from Kirkwall’s circle. Anders started smiling before he answered.
“His name is Karl Thekla. He was sent here from Ferelden when Kirkwall’s circle required new talent. His last letter said that the knight-commander was turning the circle into a prison” Anders said, voice dropping at the end.
“Aren’t they already prisons though?’ Bethany said in an aside to Ant. The other man caught her words however and laughed.
“You can actually see between the lines, can’t you, girl?” He asked, grinning broadly.
“My name is Bethany,” she said, and Carver could tell she wasn’t that happy with the man just calling her “girl”. Thankfully, he caught this as well, and slightly bowed his head in apology.
“We received reports of mages being locked in cells, refused appearances at court, and made Tranquil at the slightest of crimes. We can’t leave Karl in there,” he said, looking at Anders’ pained face.
“How do you plan to break him out of the Gallows?” Carver asked, already thinking about the obscene amounts of templars he saw patrolling just the other day.
“I’m hoping it won’t come to that,” Anders began. “I sent a message to Karl asking him to meet us in the Chantry tonight. Maker willing, he’ll be there, alone. But if there are templars with him, I swear, I’ll free him from them. Whatever the cost,” Antony was nodding, clearly understanding Anders’ feelings.
“I would help any fellow mage, map or no map,” Ant declared, clearly in a righteous mood. Varric starts a little at this, before clarifying for Ant.
“We still would really appreciate getting the maps though,” the dwarf said. Anders and the man just laughed in response.
