I already know I'm gonna be obsessed with falin's subversive version of haunting the narrative. as soon as I figure out what she has going on, I'm gonna be insane about it.
#because at least in the beginning she is the classic laura palmer haunting the narrative- the story is about her#the inciting action is in response to her death (almost. her eatening) and it sends the rest of the story on its way#marcille makes constant references to her and her influence and what she would think about things#but then also they find her and she is dead so they have to mourn for a minute and we get visceral closure with#the fact that they were hoping to find her alive the whole time and that's crushed now#and THEN she gets revived and comes back wrong#she is here but it's not right and there's a mystery#and now she's gone again- not in the narrative anymore- but it's still all about her#they have to find her they got her back but she's gone again.#it's so....#i dont know youre deal yet but falin im gonna be insane about you i can tell#dungeon meshi#jennie reads dungeon meshi#dm spoilers

the problem with writing a fantasy loosely based on a historical culture is you need to decide how "loose" you're willing to go. like yeah i know they didn't have silk but fuck you there's a literal god sitting right the fuck there and of course he would want that shit. but also would the protagonist know what the fuck a book is?
#sorry i'm bouncing between my novel and B&D's next chapter#at least we know they had cannabis#god and his weed smoking polycule#edit: btw if anyone was curious the answer is no#i'm willing to fudge some years bc fantasy but not by the thousands that separate this time period from books as we think of them#which is annoying bc linen was also not a thing yet#or it was super expensive#so guess who needs to go change a bunch of instances of the fucking word linen#every so often im struck with the question 'wait was that a thing yet?' and it's like a 50/50 shot i need to rewrite something because of i#probs closer to 80/20 because even if it exists it exists in a much different context#like the linen thing#at least it makes some good jumping off points for learning about history#nothing like asking what sorts of dates (fruit) would have been available and in what season to send you down the rabbit hole#and find out scientists revived the extinct judean date palm with 2000 year old seeds#and the fruit tastes like honey#big fan of the fact the first one that they were able to grow was a male and they named him Methuselah

the eternal struggle of reading webcomics/manga/manh(w/u)a that i think are really good but have cringe ass titles so i can't recommend them without someone doubting my sensibilities and taste in stories
#not that my tastes are *that* good...#or do people ask me for good comics often enough for this to be a real problem#or.. people talking to me at all for this conversation to come up...#anyway please ask for some comics to read. i need someone to join me in my warrior's path#of reading things but never finishing them because either they aren't done being#written and/or translated yet..#or whatever the word for when adhd says i can't read any more because the story is *too* good and so i get paralysis trying to keep reading#to anyone curious-#i just caught up with sss-class revival hunter#and was reminded how much of a sucker i am for romance... ;_:#GUH i can't gush in the tags here... there's already too many tags#but it's soo good#here's my recommend of it for those reading the tags:#really good starting plot- read a synopsis for that i'm bad at that#there's a little dip in attention keeping between the end of the introduction phase and when he starts floor 10#but if you get past that little dip it's all up hill from there#ough i'm still thinking about it.#IT'S NOT A ROMANCE BTW. the most recent plot is romance but that's not the overarching thing#at least for what's out. idk how much what happened is going to effect the rest of the story#ok ok i need to stop talking about it because i'm getting too riled up and overpowering the melatonin i took. don't want to break my sleep#schedule over this#key's lockbox#rambling in tags#btw i don't have shame in the stuff i read regardless of their bad titles#i just wanted to use this premise to get my words out about enjoying my latest read

i haven't watched any of sgu and honestly i'm not sure if i will, i have very mixed feelings about it
some people seem to really love the show and the characters but i've also seen some people who are less enthusiastic about it, but i do like the stargate series as a whole and i do kinda wanna watch everything there is for it
if i do end up watching it, it won't be for a while bc i gotta finish sg1 first and i wanna watch the movies too, but if i do watch it i'm sure i'll freak out about it on here 😂

what shows do you think had good finales?
ooooh. i know i'm probably going to forget quite a few because i have watched too many things and my memory is sometimes like a sieve. and i'm not going to include mini-series/limited series since they're designed differently (though, if i did, i'd mention the haunting of bly manor). but, what i classify as a "good finale" is something that is narratively satisfying and effectively moving, and gives us a good sense of the characters we love and the place where we leave them (even if the last season of something isn't perfect, they can still pull off a good finale!). off the top of my head:
angel: the series, bates motel (okay, it's been months of stalling and i haven't seen this yet. i just. know it's good. partially because i fully trust that show, partially because i've seen spoilers), bones, breaking bad, buffy the vampire slayer, crazy ex-girlfriend, ER, eureka, friends, the good place, jane the virgin, schitt's creek, six feet under, 12 monkeys
on the slightly more controversial side: the original S7 finale of gilmore girls (i know S7 was a mess, i know it didn't involve the palladinos, but i still feel warmth for that finale, especially in light of the revival, which we do not acknowledge!), community (it goes off the rails, but the last few minutes of the finale and the use of "ends of the earth" does something to me, so i'm giving it credit), psych (if it counts, since they are still making movies!), and lost.
#sfu is unquestionably often called the best finale of all time for a reason#bad revivals are my villain origin story btw. gilmore girls. the x files. veronica mars. dexter.#all RUINOUS what was the reason for any of that#the fact that lumberjack dex (once one of my least favorite endings) is my best friend now because of that :') i get it now scott buck!#this is actually quite hard to answer i feel like i must be missing things but terrible endings keep popping to mind instead 😭#(bcs is not terrible. bcs is a secret third thing that lives in its own category.)#also i know there are things considered genius endings (fringe/the americans/mr. robot/the leftovers) i just have not seen them (yet)#anonymous#letterbox

Some Hyrule Warriors interdimensional malarkey leads to an instance where these two end up collaborating to resurrect some form of Demon King. And why?
Eh, just so I can draw my two favorites together in some way and have an opening to doodle ideas and concepts I've thought of for fun. A way that hopefully makes a little sense.
