Josephine with a baby would be insane. I don’t have anything else to say; the dynamic between an uneasily pregnant Jo and a wishful and wistful Zelda, still waiting for lightning to strike HER again, would be so heartbreaking. I do think Jo could find new purpose with a child, especially in this life that’s so different from anything she imagined for herself, but it’s not a decision to be taken lightly or made on a whim. It would take a serious miscalculation (as if!) or some bizarre irregularity in her cycle……. Highly unlikely. 👀

Okay so FIRST of all this is why when you sent me that ask yesterday I was like, boy oh boy, do we have a psychological dive in store for you. Because y’all, there’s so damn much going on in that post. Why don’t we, uh, go back to an old tradition and follow a heathen under the cut while she rants about her pixels…

A plotline where Jo would be (even somewhat begrudgingly) pregnant while Zelda was the one who wanted the child would be too heartbreaking, even for me. While I think there’s potential there for support and mutual parenting (which they’re doing with Violette), at its core it would be gut wrenching for them both. I think we can really see why that is for Zelda, as she almost “illogically” wants a child more than she can describe. This is where the double entendre of Josephine talking in the mirror in today’s post comes in, because we can apply it to Zelda and the fact that there are VERY good reasons for her not to want another child. But there’s still something in her that is longing for one, and so to make her watch while it happens to her best friend would absolutely break her.

However, Jo is not aware of Zelda’s struggles at all. When she is speaking in the mirror, she is talking to herself. What we (and Gio) caught Jo in the middle of was sheer, unadulterated spiraling. If you go back to the last line of the corn post, you can see Jo setting herself up for this, insofar as she thinks that Zelda is happy because she has fully given herself over to this life, and that Josephine wants that; she just doesn’t now how.

Keep in mind Josephine is 32 at this point, and I think this is an age where there’s a moment for many people who can bear children, where you think “is that what I’m supposed to do?” or “will it make me happier?” even if you’ve decided that you don’t want children. While a small part of Jo is considering Gio in these thoughts, it is mostly self-pressure, with the influence of society and other women - being Zelda here, too. So when she’s listing these logical reasons why she shouldn’t have a child, she’s telling that to herself. She’s talking herself out of it, and as the end of the post hints at, it’s because she can get pregnant at that moment and she knows it.

But simultaneously her choice here shows that even while she is at her lowest (arguably even more than her depression because now, she’s giving it her all and it’s still not working), she will never choose to have children. You are not wrong in that it might give her life purpose, and that’s part of her thought process here too. She’s almost convinced herself that the act of bearing a child could give this pointless life she’s living meaning, and in doing so she could finally let go of her need for control and give in to her situation.

Like you said, there’s always the element of a mistake, but she tells Gio point blank “that she doesn’t make mistakes.” Of course all it takes is one, but this post is meant to show that she’s far too calculated and self possessed to give herself over not only to the intense emotions she’s experiencing at the beginning of the post, but also any sort of physical drive that might lead her to sleep with Gio when she knows not to.

She also very purposefully ends the post without ever giving in to him physically or emotionally. Even more, she’s still using selective vulnerability and sex to more or less manipulate him. Her balancing on the tip of her foot only to pull away is very indicative of this, insofar as she gives him just enough of herself without ever doing so completely. When she ultimately walks away with that little smirk on her face, its because she has truly talked herself off the ledge and reestablished some sense of self autonomy that she felt like she lost even in the act of considering a child. She’s realized that even in his world and for however much she has altered her life around his dreams and their situation, she still at least has that level of control over her own body and even his.

Y’all please just know I can write a whooooole ‘nother essay on the last paragraph so God help you if you made it through this one and imma shut up now…

his relationship with nahida is very special to me. i consider nahida a foil for scara (and vice versa), two examples of higher beings that suffered mistreatment at the hands of humanity yet ended up so different. i find his one line during their fight very telling...

out of all the insults he could've directed at nahida, he picked the one that would, imo, hurt him the most to hear. he inadvertently reveals a lot about himself with his words and actions. since nahida is the god of wisdom, it makes sense she'd absorb this knowledge and make good use of it. she is guiding him well. scara will probably never admit it, but he's gotta have a modicum of respect for her.

all this gave me an epiphany: if scara likes you, you can surprisingly get away with a lot.

he'll grumble, glower, and have no shortage of insults, but if you tease him, he won't seriously try to stop it. he lets it happen. if this is what he has to endure to maintain your attention, then so be it. he's persevered through worse. he'll just have to find some poor, unfortunate soul to release his pent-up frustration on...

Mhm, I can try. Disclaimer this is all my take on the books and how I fill in the blanks for Aegon. I often make no secret to friends that I think King's Landing is a shithole. Now this is an extreme statement to start it with, but when I say Aegon is the product of his environment, this very much relates. From the moment he is born he is designated to be the son who should sit the Throne, by his maternal family and plenty of Green lords fitting into it. He learns he should be in power, in some capacity, and this is pride that he is goomed to believe in by the patriarchy too. But he withers and grows sullen, when this fact he was drilled to believe in is dismantled for his sister. The Greens at court see Rhaenyra still continuing to be heir in disdain, and Aegon suddenly grows to believe that actually, there is something wrong with him, my dad doesn't like me, my dad doesn't care about me or my mother - because frankly in a world where the majority of the continent goes by male progemiture, he feels singled out. It makes him falter. He watches Viserys putting Jace on his lap on the Throne, telling him he'd be king one day - and with the stigma of bastardy, the fact Viserys chooses Jace over him hurts him further. Viserys marries him off to Helaena, and later on he realizes even for his children (who are immediately labeled upon birth lesser than expected of Targaryen prince and princess, in the history books) he won't be able to give them something to inherit either, though people (read: patriarchy) told him he should have like whole 6 Kingdoms to give to Jaehaerys. He rages and is more absent and seeks control elsewhere (in sexuality for example, he spirals). Everything's eating at him and it is in fact his pride speaking, out of what he was groomed to believe. And then there is a push for him to be crowned when Viserys dies, and he takes it after tussling with himself. He knows his father said this is his sister's throne, but people once more remind him of the standards of the time, remind him that other people wouldn't accept Rhaenyra. It would hurt him, it would hurt his brothers; his sons. (Mind you, here he has a reasonable fear. Still cemented in the patriarchial society they are all locked in, but it's a reasonable fear). He is pushed to take the crown, by those who crowed around him since he was young he should be king, he should be proud, he should be everything. No matter what, he's in line to be slaughtered here. And then everything falls around him. Jaehaerys dies. He gets completely burnt and broken. Maelor dies. Helaena kills herself. Aemond dies, Daeron dies. Sunfyre dies. He is dying, living on painkillers. His pride and hatred are the only things keeping him going. He is a dead and mad man by now, and his trajectory was set from the start. And even when he clings onto his pride, standing last among his siblings as king, the new council of men around him, kill him off with poison. And one could say he was poisoned from the very beginning, from the moment he was born, made to sit the throne only to be stabbed by it. Because it was for him, but never for him. because he could've learned to be a better king, but he wasn't raised from it beyond what people told him. Poisoned, from the very beginning, by misogyny that prevailed since Jaehaerys I and before. so tl;dr: the kid was collateral; he was born to die, in his circumstances.

I've literally posted about seventeen different comics on tumblr for you guys over the past three weeks. In addition to multiple illustrated pieces, three fic updates, and two oneshots (that's over 36k words my guy!) in that same timeframe. Quite frankly, that's a lot of content.

I'm really, really glad you guys are enjoying the things I'm making! But please let me publish things at my own pace. When I say that I usually wait for the previous part of a comic to hit a certain number of notes before I publish the next, I mean, like I previously stated, that I'm using it as a way to time things/space things out and give each part a chance to breathe and do the rounds before adding more-- not that me continuing the project is dependant on the amount of attention I receive. But even if it was... it's my right to operate that way if I want to!

And. Like. Yeah, okay, I guess I'll go ahead and delete that other ask about the SepAU thing? 'Cause it's really just resulted in me being informed by people, anonymous or otherwise, that I'm totally screwed, they'll be voting against me, etc etc. and I'm? no worries about asking many questions! sometimes if i take a while to respond it's because 1) i'm making a bigger response (or one that involves art), 2) thinking more about the answer or 3) trying to space out who i respond to.

anyway, to answer your question:

the A World That Deserves You AU is an alternate universe timeline created by galacta knight defeating meta knight at the end of Robobot, and making a wish on star dream for them to trade places.

meta knight goes kicking and screaming into the rock candy. galacta knight is inserted into meta knight's life and existing relationships on popstar. galacta knight gladly lives on a happy and peaceful little planet training kirby of the stars, and nobody is none the wiser.

at least for a time.

eventually bandee (of all people, someone galacta knight thinks is totally inconsequential) figures out that something is up. once the severity of the situation is confirmed, he and magolor work together to try and correct the timeline while also developing an insane trauma-bonded a super healthy normal person relationship with each other. (i have talked about this part very little but their relationship and decision to work together is actually extraordinarily central to the whole plot haha.)

then there are a variety of AUs of the AU and different endings that are worse or worser, so on and so forth.

the 'true ending' for awtdy au, "the immortality integer", is actually remarkably happy, all things considered! there's lots of crying and yelling and screaming and a little bit of melodramatic self-sacrifice but it all works out, as things tend to.
