once again thinking about my ideal 3rd drb match up and how it’d stack up with plot beats and so far all i got is
🔴💥⚪️: true hypnosis mic opponents, maybe jakurai ends up on a side for further development to save yotsutsuji and that’s against ichiro’s current goal
🔵💥🟠: haven’t quite figured out why, but rei vs samatoki is the angle i’m thinking about
🟡💥🟣: all plot stakes division vs no stakes division lol idk really but i’m leaning towards a bonds angle or if hypmic wants to be real freaky, the side effects angle 🤔
#this is vee speaking#i still think a new format could happen but idk lol there’s so many unknowns rn#like what’s next specifically lmao#i personally feel it would be a waste not to have jakurai working to finalise development for this potential other true hypnosis mic lol#like they teased him joining chuuoku but then didn’t commit?????? huh??????#what about his struggle with causing more harm vs saving that one?????? like come on now??#so here’s me trying to put him back on that track lol#why not sasara vs samatoki you might ask lol and my answer is that’s the poster fight but the real fight is between rei and samatoki lol#samatoki was weirdly interested in rei watching bb vs dh and there’s a panel in showdown battle where samatoki looks……#he’s very hard to read actually while listening to ichiro#samatoki and rei are paralleling in the block party as individuals moved by ichiro’s ideals#so while i’m not sure if ichiro would be the reason to fight (🎋hahahaha🎋) i think there’s potential for strife#*sighs at bat* why doesn’t kr want to do anything with y’all lmao#if they went the side effects angle it’d be cool to have ramuda the guy whose clones die using the true hypnosis mic#vs kuukou who might be suffering from side effects (and against the guy that caused them tho he’s forgiven ramuda lol)#jyushi’s hypnosis ability to ‘recover’ is genuinely interesting because what is he recovering???? and why haven’t we seen it yet?????#maybe they’re lying in wait lol (delusional)#bonds angle is me grasping at straws lol but here’s how i can get my ideal match ups—

Hello we are still alive despite it all. We have spent time on Bug Geopolitics. Eventually we'll release them but for now we just want you to know that currently in notes we have phrases like "The Age of Deception, also known as That One Time The Wasps, Roaches, And Termites Competed To Invent The Most Creative War Crime" and "everyone assumes that the leafbugs are a wasp scheme. the leafbugs would be personally offended by this if they spoke bugnish but it would take several more years before this would be translated to them" and also of course "no one wants to try and take the swamp because it sucks and the people already living there probably hate you"

Four months ago, listening to dark and epic songs such as I See Fire and Battle Scars and with the Wingfeather Saga on the mind, I opened a doc and wrote, as you do, just to let off some steam. What came out was a weird amalgation of different AUs of the saga that I'd plow through five pages of each and then switch tacks.
None of them are complete, seeing as the Wingfeather Saga is so wonderfully (and infuratingly) written that any attempts to make things better usually end in the utter decimation of the plot, characters, and/or themes of the saga.
Now, a month and a half post my last edit to them, I decided quite elegantly and maturely, what the heck? and decided to try letting one out.
So, what if Artham actually did find the way back into the Deeps after finding the water from the First Well?
Fun fact, this is the 'The Warden and the Bear King' WIP from that ask game a while back.
[SPOILERS ABOUND. THROUGH BOOK 3 I THINK.]
Artham finds the cavern back into the deeps of Throg about two months after exiting, and rushes in without hesitation. Maybe it's the same one he left from, maybe it isn't, but either way it's twisting, unwieldy, and difficult to get the seed-husk of water from the First Well through unspilt. Hours he winds through passages, through burrows, and through endless doubts and shrieking voices warning him to go back.
He makes it to the dungeon eventually, and he freezes at the sight of it. Music is playing nearby— he'd thought he'd heard it ten minutes ago, but he'd told himself he was imagining it!— Sing the song the voices start, and against his will his lips start to move a bit... Terrified, he flees like mad, and he might have reached the surface once more had not a clatter from behind startled him.
He'd dropped the seed-husk.
Sprinting back, he frantically picks it back up, but nearly all the water has drained away, only a few drops left. He paws at it, trying to push the trickle of water back into the husk, the useless talons scraping awfully on the stone like nails on a blackboard. It's hopeless, so eventually he gathers his strength and tattered courage and presses on with what few drops he has left. He has to find Esben now, he tells himself, refusing the voices that press upon him at the name, for it is only a matter of time before he loses the rest of the water, the only thing that stands between him and utterly failing the High King yet again.
Back into the dungeon, closing his ears forcefully against the pulsing music, ducking behind cages when a Fang wanders through, searching for Esben. When he finds him, the king is in a newly reinforced cage, further back from the exit than it had been before. They've taken precautions, but precautions are nothing to a properly motivated Throne Warden, and the cage door cracks open within seconds.
"Esben," he chokes, and his brother starts. Esben's face is as he remembers it— bearded with fur, grey bubbled skin breaking out in patches, dazed pain in his eyes— but a wonder in them as well. "You... came back." he croaks, and Artham has to dash away tears to see the chains properly. He'll break them in a moment but first— "Aye," he says, "Now drink this."
He holds the battered seed husk gently to Esben's mouth. He watches carefully as his brother drinks the few drops eagerly— they probably haven't given him water for days, he fumes— and then leans back against the cage wall, exhausted by this small exertion. But there isn't time for rest or to wait until the water takes effect, and Artham hauls him to his feet. They stumble together from the cage, through the dungeon, Artham supporting almost all of Esben's weight, and thinking that if they happen to trip and fall then they would never manage to get up again. He prays with breath he can't spare that they won't trip.
Artham has always been tall, and his strength had been renowned in years past, but he has languished in a dungeon for— years, surely. He is stronger than Esben, but two months of frantic wandering, eating whatever he can and constantly moving hasn't improved his strength so much as his endurance. Thankfully, by the time the dungeon turns back into winding caverns and tunnels, Esben seems stronger, and can walk on his own. Neither of them speak in the pitch darkness, each moving as if in a dream with only each other to remind them they aren't. Artham holds tight to Esben's hand with his left arm, and the other wraps around Esben's side, even if his brother doesn't need his support any more. He doesn't want to imagine losing hold of his brother, here in the darkness. They stumble past a patch of blooming flowers and vibrant grass sprung from the cold rock where Artham had dropped the water from the First Well.
Under a pitch-black sky they stumble from pitted stone onto night-darkened grass.
They spend perhaps a week in the Blackwood, journeying west at a stumbling pace. They grow stronger, with daylight, food, water, and companionship. Sometimes other cloven shamble past them, but always wild and untamed. Artham and Esben don't have any water from the First Well left, nor anything else to envy, and so they're left alone for the most part. In the bright sunlight, Artham can see what he'd missed in the dark of the deeps. Throughout their steady trek, the water was working upon Esben, and his face seems clearer, the grey mottled skin gone and the patchy fur a golden-brown color that matches his hair. He looks a little odd, a little bulkier and more bear-like than before, but he has come back to himself, he is Artham's little brother, and he is not broken but healed.
The brothers have a lot of time to talk on their westward journey.
At first, Artham has trouble keeping back the high-pitched gibbering his voice and words keep trying to become, especially when Esben is quiet or contemplative or otherwise not talking. Esben is alarmed when it starts, which sets Artham off even more, which turns Esben’s alarm to worry, and it all ends in a mess of I’m sorrys and heart to hearts and confessions.
Once the brothers lose each other for an entire six hours.
Artham had gotten panicked, and in his sleep-deprived state he’d run away from the familiar man who called him by name with the blue eyes that filled with pain and memories at times— his fault, it was his fault—
Esben trails him at first, tracking his brother’s panicked flight through the loamy soil, but it isn’t safe to journey alone in the Blackwood, even in broad daylight, and soon he stops to consider his options, perched high in a tree where he had fled from the reach of a toothy cow. Artham would calm down soon, and probably panic and retrace his path. Esben was on said path, and if he kept shouting his name from the tree where the many creatures of the wood couldn’t reach him…
Artham refuses to stray more than ten feet from his little brother’s side for the rest of the Blackwood.
In the original story, Artham had stowed away on a Fang ship to Skree, following a tiny pinprick of light that told him the children of the king were there. He had nearly starved in the hold, but made it to Glipwood only five years after the fall of the Shining Isle. Now, with his little brother at his side, he has more to think of than himself.
They take refuge in an abandoned cottage a few hours from the edge of the Blackwood, shifting through debris for anything useful. Artham finds an intact glass vial in the kitchen, but the last of the precious water had gone toward Esben’s healing, and so he tucks it, empty, among their scant belongings in the hope it might be useful.
-
Esben had decided, in the first clear-minded rest after their exit from the deeps, that he was not going to ask Artham about what happened to Nia and the children. He barely remembered anything about that day, beside sitting down to lunch to the sound of Nia’s laughter as she tried to coax little Kalmar to eat. Janner had been excitedly relating some epic adventure from his day to his Uncle Artham, whose strained face of the past week eased somewhat while he listened.
Then the Fangs had come.
After Esben had been taken captive, ripped away from the room of the Fane of Fire and force-marched to the dungeon, he had caught sight of Artham being shoved into one of Rysen’s well-kept cells. Seeing the fear in his brother’s eyes, the Throne Warden had shaken his head, mouthing they’re safe. That was the extent to which they had communicated for the four years of captivity in the deeps of Throg, for Esben had not been bound for the cells but rather to an interrogation room, and they were kept separate on the march to Throg. In the deeps, they had not spoken at all, both consumed by the dreadful music and their own demons.
Esben had been given a front-row seat to his brother’s breaking, though they had only glimpsed each other once in a blue moon. He could hear the Stone Keeper taunting Artham with food, with freedom, with a snatch of sunlight. He could hear his brother shouting his name, and receiving no answer. He could hear his brother muttering in his sleep, in his waking hours, mumbling and shrieking as if the voices in his mind had taken over his speech.
Artham was the one they focused on, for they knew they could count on the king to break. What had the king ever done, besides rule from the protecting shadow of the Warden? What had the king ever done to protect the kingdom, while the Warden waged wars with his own strength and the strength of those loyal to him? What had Esben ever done, besides falling to the Fangs the moment he tried to fight without his brother by his side?
The Stone Keeper came and went from Artham’s side like a scuttling shadow, but she never paused by Esben, for which he was shamefully grateful. The dark of his cell and the silence was never broken save by what peeked in from without, as the days turned and his brother went mad and Esben began to think he was forgotten by even his captors. His only companion was the music that echoed in the dungeons and crept into every forgotten corner, and filled his head to chase away the silence.
His brother, Esben decides, has gone through enough. He isn’t going to ask and possibly bring back bad memories. He isn’t going to ask about the tears that had watered Artham’s fierce eyes even as he was shoved into a cell, even as he mouthed they’re safe. He isn’t.
Sitting at the dilapidated table of the abandoned cottage, Artham tells him anyway.

RITSU SHOULD BE IN THE ALIEN HUNTING a silly analysis (?)
Tumblr media
Before starting I just wanted to say that: This post is for the most part a joke! While I really would love have more Ritsu in this arc for all the reasons in this post, this is not really a serious critique or anything like "oh this arc sucked cause of little Ritsu screentime" lol. I do enjoy that arc as it is, the only part I really hate is the fucking Inukawa omakes (that I will not mention again in this post), aside of that very cool arc.
Also a warning: This contains spoilers for the entire season 3,ok?!
Anyway let's go gamers!!!
1. HE WANTED TO GO BRO.
Now if you are anime-only or read the manga but forgor let me explain why he didn't go: The Shiratori brothers say they're leaving after Takenaka accept join the alien hunting, and then-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(BY THE WAY INUKAWA JUST LIKE "OK THANKS BYE" CIGJFDIXJSI NOT EVEN TRYING LIKE "OH NO YOU GUYS CAN STAY" LMAO)
So as we can see... Ritsu was interested in joining in or... I mean what else could be ? Does he wanted to stay not because he wanted to join the fun but just like...idk... see Tome reaction to the news cause he would love some gossip and drama? I don't think so. ALTHOUGH IT IS FUNNY THAT THEY ONLY FOUND TELEPATHS CAUSE RITSU WAS JUST STANDING THERE LISTENING MOB TALK WITH HIS FRIENDS,AND THEN HE LIKE "OH I KNOW SOME". So maybe he truly just want the gossip who knows lol. But I'm more willing to bet he wanted to check out the alien thing.
2.BUT SPEAKING OF TOME AND RITSU
we been so so robbed. like so robbed. Tome and Ritsu interactions... Are very little. We technically had one non-canon one. And when I mean non-canon is because was in this omake that Ritsu killed One.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So all things considered I don't think Tome calling out how Ritsu was out of the plot at that moment followed by him killing One is canon, but... The point is she just gets there and calling him creppy. Just beating him down, judging him... And we don't have more interactions between them? BULLSHIT, I WANT MORE OF IT.
We do have another interaction that was in the last chapter/episode with Ritsu and Tome gossiping about Mob life, what is great content!!! Also is it me or this post is slowing turning into Ritsu gossip propaganda? Anyway glad to see at least a little of interaction in canon.
But I wanted more of them in canon, wahh. Lot's of people point out how Tome is like mini Reigen sometimes but I don't think Ritsu would have lot of beef with her cause she is not like being a big fraud like Reigen you know? Big part of Ritsu issues with Reigen is the whole lying to and using his brother, not being loud. And while we are at those two-
3.RITSU AND REIGEN BONDING
now. I say bonding cause both would have a very common thing in this trip: they have nothing to do with it. So like while Tome is complaining and being salty they both would be like 🧍 🧍 and I think that had lot of comedic potential. AND RITSU BEING ABLE TO THROW SHADE IN REIGEN DRIVING SKILLS??!?!
4.the rest of the club i guess lol
I talked about Tome and Reigen but honestly I would enjoy more interactions with the other telephaty club members with Ritsu lol
5.AND MOB OPSS
Now I said this post was mostly a joke, but not totally a joke and in one point is just like... Again I would love more Ritsu lol, but other point is when it comes with Mob and Ritsu I do think maybe would be more interesting for the plot if Ritsu was in this trip!
I'm not the most passionate over this arc,I adore it, I just never been intensely plagued with thoughts about this arc in specific, but over the time I did read some analysis there and there about it, and when the arc was adapted there was even more analysis of it. And seeing people observations I can see the importance of the arc not only to be a breathe between two intense arcs, but also to see the growth of Mob. Obvious there is even more to it, but focusing on Mob in this arc is like... He takes initiative, even the telepathy club members are impressed by him and he doing his best to help his friends. And he likes... Choose to use his powers?! And even convinces Takenaka to use his powers too.
Tumblr media
And like. RITSU WAS THERE W HILE MOB SAID ALL THAT,WHAT I THINK IT IS VERY IMPORTANT. But like...What Ritsu missed was seeing Mob there, really exausthing himself with powers and all but not like...Over some big battle or anything like before but. Just for something "stupid". Something silly. And like, post finale I have no doubts that they will have many opportunities to share moments using psychic powers in a more mundane way, just like Mob used before The Accident. But I still wonder how it would be in the story if Ritsu had seen this, because in the confession arc there is an "out of nowhere" moment: That being Ritsu being the first to conclude that ???/Shigeo and Mob are the same.
Now I say out of nowhere, but I think that's kinda unfair. Rather is more unclear, what is not a bad thing, people can come up with their own interpretations and stuff. Like this can be just the result of lot of self reflection, it doesn't need have a clear A-HA EUREKA moment.
There is also how in the manga it goes like this the moment he says it:
Tumblr media
And in my own interpretation one of the biggest things made he realize this is just another part of his brother is he seeing how ??? still just want to give flowers to his crush.
In the anime too part of this realization happened before he even saw Mob, so it does not work out but like. Personally I love the anime as much as the manga, but speaking about Confession arc in specific I LOVE THE MANGA VERSION 10 TIMES MORE AND I HAVE 89839895 NITPICKS WITH THE ANIME VERSION SO… Ok Ritsu concludes that this was a opressed part before coming face to face with Mob,ok. So I feel in that version is even more unclear.
But with all this in mind I wonder if that conclusion would work better with Ritsu seeing Mob use his powers to the max in a non life threatening situation. And… I have no idea. Maybe it would, or maybe it would ocupy too much of the alien arc. Maybe it would make less compelling if was super clear. I do not have a definitive answer. Idk if One didnt included Ritsu in the trip for a big reason or if he just didnt want him in and then made Shiratori brothers throw shade to Ritsu leave lol.
But. I do ask for you consider a what if. What if Ritsu was there ?~~

something that is very difficult for me as a writer is balancing my wish to create good representation for a variety of communities vs where it is and isnt my place to do so.
as an example, i am white. currently, the main character for one of my main projects is black. there is no plot connected to her skin color, though. and i cannot truly represent the experience of a black person without racism. but, to accurately represent racism for how horrifying it is, i would have to write things that i am not comfortable with writing and i believe quite frankly isnt my place.
my solution to this is fantasy racism, though dulled down highly compared to real life, real person, racism. it is a plot point for the main character that the fantasy race she is, is one more looked down upon in a way---falsely considered inferior compared to another, so she can overcome this and prove neither are considered inferior or superior. they are not so different and the only reason this "proof" many cite for their inferiority exists is because of pre conceived notions and in turn a lack of opportunity---nuture, not nature.
but even with this, i find myself afraid of unintentionally perpetuating some sort of real life racist stereotype somehow without realising. i ask myself if i am overstepping, depicting fantasy racism---if i would unintentionally be harming these people to avoid the topic of realistic racism and replacing it with fantasy racism.
it all just ends up spiraling to a place where i fear of trying to create representation at all, and i do not want that. EVERYONE deserves to be represented, even if i do not personally find myself being represented in that identity.
to play it safe and keep with things that represent me (lgbt white people), i am not truly representing people, but i also cant accidentally create more harm than good.
so i ask, if anyone seeing this is part of any underrepresented community---ANY community, black people are only an example, though i will welcome their input highly as well---and you want to communicate with me to help me make sure i do the best i can, please do. i understand many of you are tired of educating people, and you do not have to go out of your way through your exhaustion. i will do my best to do research on my own, but i do not know how much of the information i can find online is trustworthy and i will always rather be able to connect with a person about it.
if you do end up doing this, know i thank you so much! i truly really do want to make a positive impact, but i can't do that on my experiences alone. if you dont want to dm me but do want to help me out, ill read any and all reblogs and replies!
thank you so much again, for any help anyone may offer.

Hey, so random question about your Royal Ranger fic-
Autism is genetic right? So, which parent would you say Halt inherited it from? Was it from an uncle or someone else?
Y'know, I saw this ask before I went to bed and had to spend all night thinking about it
So first off: yes, autism has a genetic component! However it's not a one-to-one, you-have-this-gene-that-you-got-from-this-parent-so-you're-autistic sorta thing. Multiple genes are associated with autism, but no clear causal component has been identified. I can clearly see autistic traits in my dad, for example, and those have been passed on to me, but I think my brothers are more likely to have ADHD than autism, and while I can think of a couple of traits in both my dad's parents that are associated with autism, neither of them properly strike me as "autistic". Epigenetics is also likely to play a part. So while "autism is genetic" can certainly mean "an autistic parent will likely have an autistic child", it can also happen that autism sprouts up in a family tree and we dunno why ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (shrug emoji)
(Identical twins are also highly likely to both be autistic. So why is Ferris neurotypical? Well, one, because even identical twins can have DNA that varies greatly despite starting from the same source code. And secondly, because it works better for the story.)
So, are any of Halt's relatives autistic? I think it's pretty safe to say his dad isn't. The way I've written him so far, I don't think his dad has any autistic relatives - he's very confused by how Halt thinks and interprets the world, and is surprised by everything Halt does that's different from normal. Anna probably had some autistic relatives, or relatives that showed autistic traits, but I'd say they were more likely to be siblings with whom she had a significant age gap, so she didn't grow up with them and fully learn to accept their behaviour. After all, in chapter eight, she got angry at Brian for triggering Halt's meltdown, but still decided it was necessary to teach Halt to "overcome" his sensory issues.
So what I figure is most likely is: Anna has a sibling who's significantly older or younger than her, or maybe a half-sibling who didn't grow up with her for whatever reason. She saw this sibling having intermittent problems with noise, textures, and social situations, but this sibling had learned coping mechanisms and could mostly pass or mask. From this, Anna got the idea that their autistic traits were just peculiarities that they overcame, the same as you might learn to like a food you previously hated. She brought this attitude with her when she noticed Halt displaying the same behaviours, not realising that simply punishing him for reacting to things was only going to make him feel worse.
Thanks so much for the ask!! This was actually a fun little exercise
