My body decided 1 hour of sleep is fine so here’s some riveting content

The ghouls (ALL OF THEM) and if they’d peel an orange for their loved one if they asked .

Swiss: already had it peeled before they asked

Phantom: tries really hard but ends up poking a bunch of holes in it and mushing it up on accident

Dew: no

Rain: no. Unless it’s dew and then he’s feeding the orange slices to him by hand. No to everyone else though

Mountain: would grow them an orange tree

Cumulus: sets each slice out on a napkin in a row for optimal eating

Cirrus: is really confused as to why they cant but does it anyways

Aurora: no she doesn’t like it when her hands smell like oranges all day

Aether: of course, even shows them the best way he’s found to do it

Sunshine: she tries but forgets halfway who it’s for and eats part of it

Ifrit: also does his very best but is better at making orange juice than peeling it

Zephyr: no and calls them ableist for making them do it when they’re disabled

Ivy: yes and uses his powers to make the orange a bit sweeter

Delta: uses a knife while staring at them, slicing the orange open very very carefully. It’s extremely awkward and strange no one really asks him

Mist: no. Walks away with her new found orange

Pebble: no, also asks if theyre stupid. unless theyre ivy and then they are sharing it and feeding each other

Cowbell: yes, takes a slice as tax

Alpha: yes but is patronizing about it

Omega: yes and gives them a pat on the head when he hands it back

River: no that’s not his problem

Lake: sure but is very confused

Air: yes

Earth: yes and makes sure they compost the peel, gives a small lecture on the importance of composting

Water: yes but is usually so high that he confuses himself while he’s doing it, but he tries so hard

Canto 6 was incomplete

Literally why are we there? Like, we just go to a manor that's in t-corp I guess. But why are we there? We've got another Heathcliff and he's cool but he just shows up pissed off for no reason and then we leave? Weird af. Nelly, Linton, and Josephine were cool and Hindley...existed. But it's a weirdly low number of supporting characters, and I guess that 1 really important and cool one could have made up for it but that didn't happen. Even the Mili song felt incomplete, like only 1/2 of it was there! Such an odd choice to make at the halfway mark for our 12 sinners. It just feels like a lot of stuff was missing and it's really sad because I was excited for Heathcliff's canto.

I really liked most the characters (not Hindley though that's a personal thing)#and I'm sure that the 'Carmen shows up like the PS5 in our brain' moment probably kicks ass if you know who she is and why we care #which I did not so I didn't really get that. still a cool moment but it didn't hit like it did for other people.#final fight? a slog and tough and tbh kinda unfun at times. I think that kinda adds to it though. we're stuck in a horrible loop.#the initial fight against alternate Heathcliff was still the height of the canto for me. that kicked SO MUCH ASS and it was a good twist

so, here are the tweets in question. (one of which is from @goingbuggy! hi there! this is, what, the third time someone’s asked me to talk about your tweets? i guess at least one of my anons is a fan.)

i have wondered a time or two whether in oda’s early planning it might have been buggy who gave shanks that three-slash scar. (i’ve heard that oda originally had a five year plan for one piece, though i’ll admit i’ve never sought out a direct source for that.) in that case, the slashes through the hat might have been intended as foreshadowing.

but since buggy wasn’t the one to make that scar, instead it leads us to draw comparisons between these characters who both have wielded three blades on one hand. and maybe it’s just because they were both written as foils to luffy, but i find comparing buggy and blackbeard very interesting!

similarities:

former warlord of the sea/current emperor of the sea

devil fruit user

served on a big name’s crew back in the day

intentionally went under the radar/overlooked for years

doesn’t really buy into concepts like “loyalty” or “honor,” happy to turn on a crew mate or backstab an ally if it’s to his advantage

used to wield three blades but these days prefers explosive-adjacent weapons

not happy to see red-haired shanks at marineford

differences:

fell into those positions by chance/years of plotting to get into those positions

a devil fruit with zero combat utility (besides avoiding damage)/possibly the devil fruit with the most combat utility? (though, unusually, he can take damage while wielding it)

their reasons for going under the radar (fear of being hunted down/working towards a secret goal)

the consequences for overlooking them (for shanks: losing buggy/losing to bb, or at least taking a very bad wound from him; for others: misinformation on a global scale/the literal paramount war)

buggy is a strong believer in the captain-crew bond, which bb absolutely does not buy into

type of three-bladed weapon (three throwing daggers, suggests flexibility, hidden motives, a preference for distance fighting; claw weapon, suggests light-footedness, straightforwardness—you know when a claw wielder is about to start fighting, he’s gone and put the claws on)
