Irony is that one of the cautionary tales in 13's era was the dangers and dehumanisation of putting somebody on a pedestal (the master putting 13 on a pedestal bc of some scraps of genetic code, and long story very very short, this ends in him murdering her) bc oof you guys are gonna do the fandom over fawn thing with the new/old showrunner and then turn on him like rabid dogs over something arbitrary and do a metaphorical murder, and this is so unnecessary and could be avoided by just treating him like a person to start with 🙃

Im watching The Magnus Archives for the first time at the behest of a friend and so far its just like
Episode 1: ok, fun little horror stories. Seems competently written, but I'm not sure how invested I'll get in a story who's format relegates plot and story progression to the background.
Episode 14: Bravo. This story really got to me. Being threatened with a future in which parts of you are removed one by one, and being powerless to stop it, just having to live with the knowledge that soon there will be nothing left? Horrifying. The Magnus Archives is a horror podcast and it does it well
Episode 16: Ok, I'm with Jon on this one. You are telling me that this guy was haunted and killed by the ghost of a vengeance addled spider? Thats ridiculous. What a way to go. It's almost funny.
Episode 34: bone apple teeth. I think I've solved it. The Magnus Archives is an absurdist comedy. The institute, a becon of knowledge and understanding, is being contrasted with these stories that defy the ability to be understood. They are researching the paranormal, which is an oxymoron. The primary humor comes from Jon, a rational skeptic failing to accept the reality of an irrational world. This contrast is further exemplified with occasional bouts of mundanity (Tim complaining about errors in recordings, Sasha pondering the pronunciation of calliope, martin not wearing trousers), which further highlight the Absurd. So many people witness events beyond their comprehension, horrific and wacky alike, and then have to just go back to their normal lives like nothing happened, and it's hilarious each and every time.

thinking about riverdale finale:
the thing about the jarchie paradox is that archie’s Gay Feelings challenge the narrative of the all american boy and jughead IS the narrator. he can’t actively participate. narrator jughead and real human boy jughead being merged creates a persona where he’s one step removed from the reality they’re living in, having to control the narrative and live it out without REALLY living it

I wanna understaaaand
omg yes for sure! It's a niche combo lol aber es hat mich nicht losgelassen
Also Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead ist mein Lieblingstheaterstück. ("There must have been a moment, somewhere, where we could have said—no. But somehow we missed it.")

OC QUESTION ! Deidre. 2. How easy is it for your character to laugh?
oh OH i think deidre is the kind of person to like roll his eyes and do that little laugh exhale thing you do when you find things mildly amusing/funny but actual genuine laughter? actually pretty difficult to do! (it is just kind of hard to get a big reaction out of them in general so)
but when they laugh? like laugh laugh? dorkiest laugh you'll ever hear. wheezing, snorting, all that stuff!

the insane thing about riverdale people going "um the absurdity was a part of the show" is that no it absolutely was not. i was there when the deep magic was written, i REMEMBER the early seasons of the show and the discussion around it, they were one hundred percent not being intentional absurd. everything in season 1-4 was entirely serious and intended to be taken seriously (remember in season 4 when ras tried to rein himself back in and literally said they were gonna focus more on HS stuff and small scale murder mystery things), and then at some point the show realized it was being laughed at, not with, and just decided to do crazy stuff so that the "riverdale cringe" compilations wouldn't be mocking genuine sincere writing attempts but instead things that they were actively trying to make ridiciulous.
like, no, your show was bad, and people were making fun of that, so the writers tried to pivot and make something that made it seem like that was the plan all along. but it absolutely wasn't, i remember how it was before y'all realized everyone was mocking this shit.
