Mask recommendations for ordering online (NA)
Note: for consistency, practicality, and simplicity all prices are listed in USD.
masknerd has a comprehensive data set on hundreds of masks he's tested according to his own criteria and methodology (pinned tweet). find his recommendations on his youtube channel. many of the following are on his list as well!
DISPOSABLE MASKS
3M Aura and Vflex: one of the most commonly recommended brands of N95. Where to buy?
- US: see here - Canada: see here - Multiple sizes per model. These suppliers are good for bulk ordering. If you aren't sure if something will fit you, check out the sample kits in the next recommendation - Price point: varies from $1-1.3 USD per mask depending on supplier
Breatheteq (US):
- KN95s that come in small, medium, large, or XS (kids) - Offers sample kits so you can test out what your size is - Comes in a few different colours. shoutout to the lavender - Earloop only - Price point: $69.75 USD for a 50-pack (~1.4 USD per mask)
Tumblr media
Canadastrong (Canada):
- The Canadian equivalent to Breatheteq, but also carries N95s of other brands such as 3M Aura and Vflex, Vitacore, and Drager X-plore
Vitacore (Canada and US):
- N95 certified, but actually has 99% filtration - Both earloop and head strap versions (warning that the head strap seems to fit considerably smaller) - Regular and small adult sizes offered, also a kid's size - Price point: $33.99 for a 30-pack (~1.1 USD per mask)
Tumblr media
Wellbefore (US, ships to Canada):
- N95s, KN95s, and KF94s - Head straps, normal earloops, or adjustable earloops depending on model - Kids/petite size available for certain KN95 models - Wide range of colours (excluding N95s) - Price point: varies per model, from $0.79 USD to $2.09 USD per mask - Also sells Covid tests, over the counter medication, and medical supplies
Tumblr media
Masklab (US):
- This is an indulgent option for if you want to go out and look good, while still staying safe. These are masks that are part of your outfit - FFP2 certified, equivalent to KF94s - Standard size and slim fit series - Many beautiful patterns - Price point: $24.44 USD for a 5-pack ($4.88 per mask) for the patterned KF ones, ~$3.4 USD for the plain KF ones, ~$3.3 USD for the slim fit series, including patterns.
Tumblr media
ELASTOMERIC MASKS
Flomask (US, ships to Canada):
- Reusable elastomeric mask (with replaceable filters) that meets KN95 standards - Two adult sizes (low/medium nose ridge and medium/high nose ridge) and a kid's size - Adjustable straps - Price point: $122 USD. 50-pack replacement filters: $81.46 (filters to be changed after 20-40 hours of use, depending on filter type)
Tumblr media
A humble P100 elastomeric respirator from your local Home Depot or similar store! Magnitudes cheaper than the Flo mask (both the respirator itself and the filters)--however, I can't offer estimates for how often filters should be replaced. May not look pretty, but the most economical option for the highest degree of filtration if you aren't self-conscious.
Tumblr media
General advice:
N95 or higher are the most reliable. They normally come with head straps, which offer better protection by making a tighter seal around your face.
But fit and comfort are the most important! Find a mask that fits your face and leaves the least amount of gap possible. KN95s are often more comfortable and breathable--find what's right for you.
You can wear different masks for different situations depending on risk level!
If you're hesitant to buy online, here's advice on how to tell if your respirator is legitimate.
A SIP drinking valve can be installed on any disposable mask to allow you to drink in public with less risk.
If anyone has other recommendations, please feel free to add!

mass pinglists (& moral superiority for not using them)
There's been concern lately over the newest update announcement that at some point, far into the future or at least after New Year's 2024, mass-pinging as a concept will be retired from Flight Rising. On one hand, there's people worried about this.
There's people who are also, frankly, being wildly vitriolic about those who rely on mass pinglists, disbelieving that anybody could ever be affected by mass ping tools shutting down. They're also out here openly calling skinmakers/G1 collectors/dominance organizers delusional for thinking the things they do are in any way, shape, or form, an important part of the site.
Which like, if people don't use user-run tools like GASP or the G1 pinglist, that's fine! That's your playstyle. But I don't understand where the attitude is coming from that the concerned groups are only a 'loud minority', and that they somehow don't contribute massively to the game as a whole. (The same people, by the way, who call G1 collectors & UMA makers a plague upon dragon society for being an elitist rich boy's club, then turn around and say they're not at all a driving force in the site's economy.) Which one is it? You can't have it both ways. Do these people spend thousands whaling for their perfect XXY G1 wildclaws then hundreds buying gem genes for their fancy showoff dragons? Or are they at best a negligible population in the game, whose activity and monetary contributions to the site are far outweighed by the tens of thousands of 'nice, normal, sane' players who log on once a week to hatch a nest and post on forums once in a blue moon?
There's 825 pages of user-made skins on the site right now. At 50 items per database page, that's 41,250 skins. 41,250 skins that had to be submitted with blueprints that can only be bought with gems.
Tumblr media
Let's give these numbers the benefit of the doubt and say each skin was only submitted once, using a 10-print blueprint at 5000 gems, and each accent was only submitted once as well, using a 10-print blueprint at 2500 gems. That's 136,875,000 gems sunk into blueprints - if each individual usermade skin on site has only an average of ten copies on site. (Which is categorically not true, I've had multiple skins print over 300 copies. And I am just one person, and far from the most successful skinmaker on site.)
This is 1,368,750 USD in skin blueprints alone, by the way, using the most barebones and least generous numbers possible. We're not accounting for skins that sell more than one run, or the fact that no skin artist sells their skins to the public at print price (you can add another 30-40% to that number if you want to estimate how much money is actually spent to circulate those skins). Even if none of these artists pay money to buy gems, these gems are coming from somewhere. Even if you, as someone who doesn't care for G1s or never even heard of GASP, never set foot into these places, these gems are still circulating and being sunk into the site. And it helps no one to scoff and say you doubt there's no real impact on anything if all of this goes away.
There's 51k items on the site, and over 80% of them are skins. There's 5k users actively signed up and using GASP - more than the average amount of users logged onto the site at any given point that's not a new breed release or anniversary update.
Are you getting the picture yet? It's not self-absorbed to say that the UMA market has a very real impact on the game economy. It's just numbers.
I need to get my thoughts out about the new mass-ping update somewhere. My thoughts on the actual tool are entirely positive, it's a great change for the site and not one I ever thought I'd see. But there's people worried about the future of tools like the GASP & G1 sales pinglists for very good reason.
I think game economy is a very real concern if you're a dominance participant, a skinmaker, an old dragon collector, a G1 hatcher, an ID hunter, or anyone else whose community relies on mass ping lists. You aren't wrong for feeling this way. I'm sorry people are dismissing very valid concerns about the state of your community out of some misguided 'i don't do this and neither do my friends, so everyone who does must be a loud overexaggerating nitwit' attitude.

(updated) commission info
all money from commissions will go towards my homeless mutuals, not me. i don’t need the money, but she and her partner do. all payment will be made in USD and will have to be sent with confirmation from my mutuals before i begin working on the art. all the details will be below the cut. dm if interested!
what i AM willing to do:
animals (mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, simple insects)
most mythical and extinct animals
humans
anthro/furry
body horror
violence/gore
fanart
original characters
sfw ship art
standalone scenes/backgrounds
(if anything you’d like isn’t on this list, dm me and ask and i’ll let you know if i’m willing to do it!)
what i am NOT willing to do:
anything nsfw
anything hateful/promoting hate speech
pedophilic, incestuous, or non-consensual relationships
heavy mecha
heavy perspective
hyperrealism
i reserve the right to deny any commission for any reason - just don’t be weird and we’ll be fine
please provide references/a detailed description if you want anything specific! personality descriptions are very much appreciated if you’re getting a specific character so i can properly draw the pose/expression.
focal item/character
simple sketch — $7-12, additional $8 per extra character
Tumblr media
if you’d like simple and quick shading like on the first example here, let me know! also feel free to choose background and line colour (default is purple lines & grey or white background)
coloured sketch — $15-20, additional $10 per extra character
Tumblr media
the second image here would be somewhere around $35 for the shading, but i didn’t have many examples for this style lol
plain lineart — $16-30, additional $14 per extra character
Tumblr media
please specify the complexity you’d like by referencing the examples given here! again, feel free to choose line and background colour
reference sheet — $30-45
Tumblr media
please provide a detailed description of the character for this! picture references are best but i can 100% go off of descriptions as well, and please provide a description of their personality, character traits, etc
simple flat colour
headshot: $15-22
halfbody: $20-25
fullbody: $26-35
Tumblr media
for some reason i don’t have an example for headshot for this one but it’s essentially shoulders-up
complex flat colour
headshot: $30-36
halfbody: $35-42
fullbody: $40-50
Tumblr media
please note that the second example here has a complex background that would cost more, but just the main character itself would be around $40
shading
shading prices will be added on top of any of the above
simple shading — $15-45
Tumblr media
the fire in the second example here does count as simple shading and a very simple background so it wouldn’t be any extra money for a fire background like this one
complex shading — $50-90
Tumblr media
all of these prices are set with a presumed transparent, solid colour, or simple background. these are all free of charge.
backgrounds
all background prices are added onto existing focal item prices. standalone scenes and backgrounds without a focal item are the same prices as listed here.
simple backgrounds/flourishes — $10-20
Tumblr media
sorry for the reused pictures i don’t have a whole ton of examples
complex backgrounds — $25-75
Tumblr media
if you have any questions or would like to know what i’d charge for any of these examples here, send me a dm and i’ll answer as fast as i can! lots of detail in the descriptions of what you’d like is very appreciated, and feel free to correct me on anything you want different! dm me if interested!

I still 100% unironically wholeheartedly believe that this scuffed ass reality tv show from 2007 where CBS stranded 40 children in the middle of the NM desert a la Lord of the Flies is one of the most genuinely fascinating pieces of TV I've ever watched just because of how ABSURD it is on every level
Tumblr media
-Their society is a bizarre Communism/Democracy hybrid whose entire economy is based on the barter system
-There is a set class system everyone is sorted into against their will who each get paid more or less money depending on how high or low they are on the ladder, and at the end of each episode they must compete in competitions to decide who gets to be at the top, with the "strongest" being able to get the esteemed title of "upper class"
-Every time they would complete a challenge, at the very end they were given a choice of 2 things that could be added to the town, to which the leaders of the teams would vote on which to get (For example, in one episode they had to choose between fresh produce or 50 pizzas). One of these things was letters from the children's parents, implying that the adults on site were receiving the mail from these kid's parents and deliberately withholding it from them
-In one episode the district leaders of each of the 4 teams (the classes) go out and find a chest full of buffalo nickels (the town's currency), they bring the chest to the town and naturally, this creates unprecedented inflation near instantly, as there's now a mass amount of currency that suddenly appeared in the economy
-Their entire society existed in relative stability until the moment religion was introduced in the form of various religious texts (Bibles, the Quran, etc), after which the town immediately started to go to shit. The Jewish kids and Christian kids were at each other's throats about which religion was """better""" (because they're children who had religion forced upon them at a young age before they were able to think for themselves but that's an entire can of worms I won't open), while the 1 (one) Hindu kid was trying to keep the peace
-At one point the kids start to crave meat, as their food up to that point was mostly canned goods and various produce, so one of the """eldest""" members of the group, (I say """eldest""" because he was still only like 14 or 15) who had worked as a butchers apprentice, took one of their chickens and lead the kids into the desert to where he then taught them how to decapitate, pluck, drain, and cook a chicken.
-One of the kids later did a Reddit AMA about his experience on the show, where he then disclosed various things that happened outside of the camera such as, but not limited to: Oil burns, a kid drinking bleach, scorpions, venomous snakes, an outbreak of herpes, the lack of showers, the lack of multiple toilets (up until I believe a few weeks in they only had one outhouse), etc etc etc
-The parents of these kids allegedly had to sign a 22 page waiver that was basically CBS going "If ur kids get hurt you can't sue us", specifically noting "acts of god" in the contract of things that they weren't to be held accountable for
-At the end of every week, the 4 leaders got together to choose which person would receive that week's "gold star", a star made out of 20,000 USD of solid gold (around 30k after adjusting for inflation), an unfathomable amount of money to give to kids who likely had no concept as to how much money 20 grand was
-The town used for Bonanza City is actually a ghost town/film set located just 20 miles from Santa Fe used as a filming location for movies like A Million Ways to Die In the West (2014) and The Legend of the Lone Ranger (1981). The reason I bring this up is because it's the same film set in which 14 years later, Alec Baldwin would accidentally discharge a firearm on the set of Rust, resulting in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins
To anyone asking where to watch this, I genuinely don't know. All of the 13 episodes used to be available on YouTube by someone who re-uploaded them in 2010, but the channel was terminated last year. I've heard that there are a few Google Drive folders floating around that have the raw MP4 files and you could watch them that way but you'd probably have to go digging for it

Unsolicited Writing Advice
Completely random reminder to back up your work, especially if you're a writer, IF or game developer, coder, or creator of any kind. People sometimes ask me what my advice for other writers is, and I always forget to include this one, but it's one of the most important things, especially if your career, livelihood, or long-form projects hinge on writing in any way! Take it from someone who just had two backup methods fail unexpectedly and only the third backup prevented me from losing a solid month of work, you need to back up your work in as many ways as you possibly can. It may seem like a pain in the ass at the time, but I've seen a lot of games or stories stall or fail completely due to a catastrophic loss of data that utterly kills any drive to keep going with the project because of the need to start over. I'M BEGGING YOU, BACK UP YOUR DATA.
I recommend having at least 2, ideally 3 methods of backup:
Automatic cloud storage. I personally prefer working with Dropbox, where every change I save is automatically synced and backed up to a cloud server as well as natively saved on my own device. It also has robust version history, so if you figure out you've done something horrific and unknowingly saved over something important or rewritten a section you weren't supposed to, you can rewind everything in a folder down to a specific minute (over the last 30 days): a feature that has saved my hide just a few too many times for comfort. A free Dropbox account gives you 2 GB of storage to work with. Working within Google Drive works just as well, and the free version gives you 15 GB of storage (though that's shared between your email account and other Google apps, as well)! However, I don't believe it provides automatic syncing and backup the same way Dropbox does: you either have to work directly within a Google doc for your work to be automatically saved to the server, or you have to manually upload the files to your Google Drive to back them up each time.
Physical storage. Every few weeks or months, I also take the time to back up my important files to an external hard drive or thumb drive. Again, it's kind of a hassle, but if the day ever comes that you lose your passwords or find that they've been changed, a company's servers go down or they go bankrupt, they decide to start charging you to access your data, or whatever crazy circumstance you can think of, it's always good to have a physical backup somewhere. A basic 1 TB thumb drive is somewhere around 20$ USD (though it can be slower at that price point if you're transferring a large amount of data each time), and it's even less if you don't need that much storage. A 1 TB external hard drive (which has a much quicker transfer rate) is around 40-50$.
If all else fails, email. If you can't get access to physical storage devices and cloud storage services don't work for you, consider setting up a free Gmail or what-have-you account specifically for backup purposes, then email a copy of your most important files to it every time you make a significant change to them. This may seem sort of primitive and simplistic, but it works, and you can even use it as a little journal or diary of your progress!
Again, you may think this is overkill, but I am convinced that writers are especially prone to proving Murphy's Law and have seen way too many projects, friends, and colleagues fall prey to this oft-overlooked issue. I can count at least half a dozen times where -> my primary device like my laptop broke, failed, became corrupted, had water spilled on it, etc. -> I then turned to my secondary device (hard drive or thumb drive) only to find something was wrong with THAT (broken, outdated, incompatible with currently-owned tech, corrupted, not up-to-date backups) OR I turned to my cloud storage and found something wrong with THAT (unknowingly saved over data and didn't realize it until 3 months later, meaning not even version history could save me) -> and it was only the THIRD method of backing up that saved my ass.
Anyway, this is just your friendly neighborhood writer reminding you to back your work up! It's a necessary part of the job! Thanks for coming to my TEDtalk!

I'M DOING COMMISSIONS AGAIN! yes, i am semi copy and pasting from my old one, and i will be updating my carrd, but here is the down low. some of these are going to be a big higher in price - i can 100% work with your pay range ! - due to the fact i'm somewhat in between jobs at the current moment and i have 500+ dollars worth of bills to pay. which, yeah, might not seem like a lot, but add in gas and food, etc, etc it is ... and it's all mostly medical.
customized gdoc & slides: 6 USED to 10 USD.
promo header: 5 USD per panel; add in 10 USD for non-static.
regular header: 5 USD depending on static vs gif.
icon border: a simple psd for it is up to 3 or 4 USD, depending on the level of difficulty.
base icons: depending on how available the resources are and how many, which can be discussed at length. 50+ is 5 USD. anything above that can be in the range of 15 USD to 20, depending on the difficulty and time. again, we can discuss it.
dash icon: 3 USD.
a blog makeover: this will feature my own psd / coloring, icon border, promos, headers, dividers, gdoc / slides, dash icon, pinned post, etc. the whole nine yards. while it used to be no more than 30, i will have to up the price to 40 USD for now. again, we can discuss the payment and if you want a blog makeover, but don't want some of the things that go into it, that will lower the price as well. at this time, while i am playing around with carrds, i do not do customized carrds bc i don't trust myself in making the best content in that regard yet.
the prices aren't set in stone, but until please consider buying me a ko-fi in the meantime! please signal boost this <3 x poppy

My commissions are open again! Doing this one person at a time, so as not to stress myself out and overwhelm myself.
Info below cut
Prices are in USD.
Busts: +$10
Sketch/Lineart: +$10
Half-body: +$15
Flat colors: +$15
Full-Body: +$20
Shaded: +$20
Background addition: +$10
Additional characters: +50% per character, not including background (EX: $40 shaded bust, +$30 for two more characters)
animations (simple loops/sequences only): 2-5x price based on complexity and length of loop or sequence. max detail of flat colors only, backgrounds not included.
Will do: Furries, mecha/bots, humans, monsters, nsfw (18+ only, dm for details), mild/moderate horror or gore
Won't do: incest, pedophilia, zoophilia, rape, typical immoral stuff along those lines, homestuck, south park, certain kinks/fetishes (again, dm for details)
turn around time is about 1-2 days, variable. depends on my schedule. I have one slot at a time, so as not to overwork myself. Payment will be completed only via paypal, and will not be accepted in other forms whatsoever. this is non-negotiable. I will only send the HD picture only after payment is completed fully, which payment can be done whenever, but I prefer payment once I tell you it is done. Progress pictures are done throughout the process to gauge how you would like the picture to be completed and to tweak as needed. I have any and all right to refuse service or cancel your commission if at any point you treat me in a way I do not like, or if I am uncomfortable with what you are asking me to do. Upon payment being completed and you receiving your art, payment is finalized, and you are unable to receive any refunds. The reason I ask for no payment until completion before sending the image is so you do not have to be out of money if at any point you are unsatisfied with my service. Please be patient with me, I am slow and awkward about communication with strangers. I ask that if it is an OC that you provide a reference image with a color swatch to pick from, otherwise I will devise my own colors that while trying to be similar as possible, will have a chance to be deviant of what you have set.
if something isn't listed in this post that you're curious, or if you would like a quote on how much something would be for the future, do not be afraid to ask via DMS.

Help the world's oldest comic book store survive ❤️
Fantask, the oldest still active comic book shop in the heart of Copenhagen, is on the verge of closure here on the first of March.
They've been selling comic books since 1971.
Here's some historical pictures, including a visit by Will Eisner and Stan Lee, to the shop, which is still the same location as in 1971 when it opened:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can help them survive by ordering comic books (in English!) here:
From January 1st and until February 28th, they are also having a 50% sale on all comic books pre-2022 in loose issues (all costing around 30-40-50 DKK), which means I just managed to get 48 missing Hawkeye comics home for half what I was expecting it to cost - and I helped preserve comic book history ❤️
Explore the shop through Google Maps:
They ship worldwide, but they don't have an actual shipping cost available outside of Denmark when checking out. You can contact them at their socials listed at the bottom of the page for inquiry.
If you want to support, even if you don't want to buy anything, you can buy a gift card as a 'donation' here*:
50 DKK (7.2 USD) gift card
100 DKK (14.4 USD) gift card
150 DKK (21.6 USD) gift card
200 DKK (28.8 USD) gift card
300 DKK (43.2 USD) gift card
400 DKK (57.6 USD) gift card
500 DKK (72 USD) gift card
600 DKK (86.4 USD) gift card
700 DKK (100.8 USD) gift card
800 DKK (115.2 USD) gift card
900 DKK (129.6 USD) gift card
1000 DKK (144 USD) gift card
Please help them survive.
(*Danish tax authorities won't accept a regular crowd funding campaign on GoFundMe or other due to regulations on white washing in Denmark, so a gift card is the best way to support the business).
//

Cranky McCrankypants
I've been spending a lot of time on Den of Angels and Instagram. Got an email from Tumblr thanking me for another month of advertising-free payment, and I realized, "Oh, shit. Tumblr."
I am a cranky collector today (again). Sorry.
Things that irritate me (in no particular order):
Scalpers. Oh, sorry - resellers. I remember when "drop-shipping" first became a thing, and everyone and their neighbor paid for those stupid "learn to be a drop-shipper" online courses. I didn't pay it much mind, cuz I wasn't a doll collector back then. Now, I live in Scalper McScalperville. A doll will go on sale at my local store, and by the time I get there, it's gone, and 50 of them are on feeBay for double or triple the price. Message said scalper, and it's all, "Oh, I couldn't possibly let it go for less than list price." Bitch, you paid $10 for that doll, and you're a SAH-soccer-mom looking for some extra pocket money for your nose candy habit. Trying to buy a doll now is a click-war... unless you know the scalper's threshold, and you bid over it. For example, old R&D Susie dolls? Scalpers don't want to pay more than about $40 USD for her, cuz they re-list her for $75. So - bid $75, and you're more likely to get her for $40.
Related: Mattel. You are a multinational corporation that has been around since 1959. Fucking learn logistics, already. JFC.
On a less serious note: plastic. Dear dog, the amount of plastic (and foam and bubble wrap and...) these dolls are packaged in. I get it for playline dolls, but holy shit, for BJDs? You're already charging an arm and a leg for these dolls. Add $50 to the cost already and ship in a reusable cotton bag, FFS. Also, use plain cardboard boxes, please. I can't recycle them once you've put all that fancy foil decoration on there. When you own as many dolls as I do, keeping the boxes makes you look like a hardcore hoarder. If you're keeping the boxers to maintain the resale value, you aren't a collector anyway. You have inventory. Get a warehouse like every other business.
Tumblr media
(the hoard)
Doll nudity. It's an inanimate object, FFS. It doesn't care. If you can't handle seeing nudity, the problem is YOU, Becky. People are born nude. They wear clothes to stay warm and protect sensitive bits. Get laid already.
Tumblr media
(holy shit, newds!)
The drama blog. I am aware that the mod thinks they're offering some sort of "public service" letting "shy people" confess their opinions. I'm old. We old farts call that "passive-aggressive bullshit." Besides, that's not what the blog is being used for. It's being used by newer doll artists to shit on other newer doll artists. Econ 101, doll artist: if your doll isn't selling as well as you like, it's not cuz of competition. It's because not enough people like your doll. Work on your sculpting. Don't take it personally: Iplehouse is about as old-school as it gets, and their dolls are notoriously shitty posers. Impldoll has been around how long? And they just now released a new body that a lot of collectors like. It takes time and practice to make a very popular doll. So, invest the time, and practice. Don't bitch about how you can't afford to. I knew - personally knew - lawyers who worked days as attorneys and worked nights as stock workers at Target. If a lawyer can get a second job, so can you. Does it suck? Sure. But that's the world we live in, kids.
Phew. I feel better now.
Again, sorry. Needed to get this off my chest.

Hey Commissions open!
Reblogs super appreciated at this time, I’m not going to lay out my entire situation right now but I am struggling a bit.
All payment will be through cashapp for the time being! ($possibleraccoon)
For details dm me but I’ll put some rough estimates here:
For these memes/drawn over images it’ll be ~15 dollars (USD), bc they usually take me at least an hour to make
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For sketches it’ll be like 5-10 dollars depending they don’t take long, with flat color too it’ll probably stay around that amount

Heavily detailed and colored pieces like this will be around 70-100+ dollars bc they take a *long* time (first one took me 13:33 hours and the other one was 40+, mostly bc of how many times I changed it but still)

Heavily detailed flat colors like this will be around 50-60+ dollars, they take a long time as well but not as much as with color

For less detailed colored pieces like these I’m thinking around 15-30 dollars

For a medium detailed piece (I don’t have an example but somewhere between the quality of the high detailed pieces and the ones directly above this) it’ll be about 35-50 dollars.
I could also make traditional if you should wish :3

Sorry if you've already answered this before. But why can't we get around the rising sea levels that climate change will bring by just doing land reclamation/sea walls like the dutch successfully did in the 50s to save their country from flooding?
Would take a lot of concrete to build sea walls around every continent. Or even just around the major inhabited regions of every continent.
If all polar and glacial ice melted, sea levels would rise about 70 meters. Omitting Africa (which has fairly high relief), the continental coastlines of the remaining inhabited continents is at least 250,000 km. I don’t think that includes anywhere near all inhabited islands, either. Even building walls around only inhabited regions would probably add more length than it subtracted—since you’d need to build lots of walls inland, or the ocean would simply flow around them. A wall holding back the sea with just air on the other side would have to be extremely thick. The Afsluitdijk in the Netherlands is 90m thick according to Google and it holds back much shallower seas.
This implies a total sea wall volume of about 1.5 * 10^12 m cubed, or 3.8 * 10^12 kg of concrete, which is 40 years of the entire US concrete production in 2022 alone, a cost of 4.8 trillion USD in raw materials alone (not counting all other material and equipment costs, labor, transport, engineering, ongoing maintenance), plus the carbon emissions of all that cement production.
And this estimate, which probably undersells the scale of the engineering works required by multiple orders of magnitude, would solve only coastal inundation—assuming the sea walls never failed or broke and nobody lives on any big islands—and not CO2 and climate effects on food production, wildfires, political conflicts, human health, etc.
It makes much more sense to try to reduce carbon emissions than to try to build seawalls to avoid the consequences.

Hi im a trans guy and i Really would like to know where u got ur strap and harness !!! the video of you jacking off is so hot and it's also like. super interesting to see someone cum like that if that makes sense??? like having such an intense mind-body link like that is really unique to watch and i Really want to see what it would feel like myself!!
Hey for sure!
Dr. Lucas Dildo ($29 USD) - it's on the smaller/slimmer side (which I intentionally wanted to use on myself) but it's honestly really realistic, especially for the price point. It's soft to the touch and slightly bendable, and works really well with:
Sliquid H2O ($8 USD) Water based lube, a little goes a long way. You'll feel weird jacking off a dry silicone dick- lube it up and it'll help you get into it.
Rodeoh Brief+ Harness ($40-$50 USD depending on style, they also have frequent sales) - I have a Rodeoh boxer brief harness too, but I prefer the briefs for control- it sits the dildo more firmly on your body and you can also adjust it a bit easier to really sit right over your bio dick/clit. I find that the underwear style harnesses like these help me mentally connect the dick as 'mine' better than the typical strap harnesses, bc I'm just feeling the briefs, not straps.
As far as that mind-body link- it always feels a little silly at first for me, but the lines start to blur really fast once I get started. When I spread the lube around my cock and start stroking, the strap takes on some of the heat from my hand. When I tug/stroke down in certain ways, it puts pressure on what's underneath the strap. It sometimes helps me to watch/listen to JOI porn... I'm also a huge sucker for porn of ppl fucking a fleshlight (especially a clear one). Jerking off a strap feels more 'real' when I'm watching/listening to masturbation stuff, vs watching ppl fuck, personally. Play around with positions, too- you don't have to be laying down. Stroke yourself off standing up, holding yourself up against a wall. Or maybe you're on your hands and knees, fucking into your hand. Have fun with it!

Hi! I'm considering buying the jelli m1 reusable mask, but am not super literate/skilled in understanding what makes a covid mask safe and reliable, I was wondering if you or your followers have heard of this mask or have suggestions for others that are safe and affordable (my budget is $50 usd and under, with reusable filter sales at roughly $1-2 per filter max, which I understand is Hard to achieve). Thabk you in advance for any help!
hi! i don’t know a ton of like detailed specs, just that your best bet is a P100 respirator that’s NIOSH approved (or equivalent in a different country). i haven’t heard of that particular model but i’m definitely not an expert! the best option is definitely whatever seals around your own face so i recommend checking reviews that match your face type if possible :)
i use a GVS respirator which was recommended to me by other disabled people, my model is slightly different because i was in the UK when i purchased it but this is the model a lot of my friends have:
it runs about $35-40, if anybody reading this wants to get one make sure you check the sizing :) i used it on my like 24+ hour travels moving from the UK back to the US & pretty much nobody on the planes were masking & i did not get covid so that’s my review lmao
my gf works at a hospital & swears by the flo mask (again review: we haven’t gotten covid yet) if anyone with a different budget is going through my tag etc but that one runs $100 unfortunately. there’s only a 0.02% difference in filtration between that & the GVS one linked it’s just less obtrusive or whatever, has different nose bridge options, etc
other folks feel free to add on if you have info about that mask or criteria to look for! best of luck & i’m so glad to hear from someone else who’s masking 💖
