Mmm, no? Especially not for younger characters, but like, its not a thing I seek or or actively dislike in general.
Codependency: +5
LOL yes, I'm into fics that explore this. Either in a fun way or in a serious way, because its interesting no matter what. I suppose sometimes if we're talking really toxic codependancy that isnt dealt with it might turn me off in the long run but it definitely will draw my interest in the tags.
Obsession/Possessiveness, jealousy: +4
Complicated feelings. I'm kinda into it, so it definitely wont put me off, but jealousy as a trope can either be really fun in a story or really toxic. Like, I'm a little obsessed with Simon's jealousy in the series, because its not the kind where he gets mad at Baz, really, or lashes out at him, its very internal and about his own insecurity, but also really indicative of how very attached he is despite his assertions through wayward son that he was going to end things.
I love a bit of possessiveness as long as its not the kind that hurts their partner or turns really bad to the point of me disliking the character.
So, yeah, in most situations i'm a fan of exploring this, though I can't say I specifically look for it.
Opposites (grumpy/sunshine etc): +8
Yes, definitely. I love this in a romance, its really fun to explore those dynamics. Like, IRL I think really good relationships have people who make up for each other's shortcomings, or balance each other, like if one is really impulsive it helps when the other is level headed or a planner, or else you just get an echo chamber of rash decision making (or, on the other end, no spontaneity!) I like seeing how their differences effect the other. It's a really fun dynamic to read about.
Enemies to lovers, Enemies with benefits: +4
I mean, I'm a snowbaz fan so I gotta right? I do think though that the idea of true enemies to lovers is usually not done it a way that really works for me, because a lot of the time i cant see why these people end up together, because its all anger and hate lust and sometimes it doesn't ever evolve past that, or we just skip the bit where we see them getting along. Ideally theres enemies to friends to lovers, or at the very least friendship within the lovers realm.
I guess what I'm saying is they still need to like each other or else it make me sad.
Friends with benefits: +2
Ehhh is it benefits to full on love? I don't really connect with allo perspectives on sexual relationships, like I get them intellectually but I don't jive with them on an emotional level, so there has to be that emotional draw for me, that underlying romance. I mean tho, @fatalfangirl stacy is writing an excellent fic on this premise right now that I absolutely love because there are clearly feelings involved. But it also might fall more into the realm of the next trope on this list ... which is ...
Sex to feelings: +10
Oh yes yes yes. Pining while actively having sex is absolutely my thing.
Fake dating/relationship: -1
I am not really opposed. This is just a very romcom trope for me in that it rarely delivers really big honest emotions, its usually a lot of fun contrivance. Which is definitely a good time and has an appeal, but I generally don't take to these stories as much as others. I think its one that really depends on how its written, because I have read some REALLY good ones too.
Friends to lovers: +6
I like this a lot, I think it can have a good amount of tension when done right which is important for me in a story. Plus I love the slow burn of feelings, and also just the depth of emotion and comfort you get from friends to lovers, and sometimes it can be genuinely hard when one of those friends is dating other people, or if theres a really interesting thing keeping them apart. Yeah, I like it.
Found Family: +1
I don't feel a specific way about it, definitely not a turn off. I've read a few really really sweet fics that frame the trio (Baz, Simon and Penny) as found family, which is nice. Generally just fine about it.
Hurt/Comfort: +10
PUT IT DIRECTLY. INTO MY MOUTH. I am a fucking sap for hurt/comfort. It gives me the swoops. There is fucking nothing I like better than lovers (or almost lovers) comforting each other and taking care of each other, emotionally, physically, spiritually, whatever. It's sexy to me. It affects me deeply.
Love Triangle: -7
I fuckin hate love triangles actually, in all manner of media. Like, it's not a sure thing that it'll put me off a fic on sight, but I seriously can't think of any examples where this trope didn't make me deeply unhappy.
Poly, open relationships: -5
Mmm I'm very monogamous and also have bad history with open relationships so I definitely don't seek this out and it's generally a big turn off for me in a fic. But that being said I am deeply interested in the complexity of managing an open relationship (something sort of touched on in Someone Wicked) and there are definitely some throuples that I can totally get behind. I am allergic to most snowbaz throuples except sid/simon/baz (catch me one day writing some delectable threeway smut for Dre.)
Mistaken/hidden identity: +2
I truly don't know if I've ever read a story with this that like, really drew me in a specific way? I don't think this is a regular snowbaz trope either, and I admittedly don't wander too far from the snowbaz fic these days. I'm not opposed, just don't have a specific affinity for it.
Monsterfucking: +6
I like monsterfucking, but its gotta be tied to emotions. (Those emotions can be overwhelming incoherent ecstasy tho.)
Pregnancy: -9
I want kids and I like kids, don't care to read about them or pregnancy. That being said, I have read nearly every mpreg fic in this fandom (snowbaz) because you all are too talented and too fucking powerful. But it took me a while to click on them, generally.
Second Chance: +8
I do actively seek this tag out, because I am a sadist, but breakup angst also really truly hurts me. As someone who's a well known angstweaver (which I definitely just made up) most angst is appealing to me, delicious to read, exquisite, etc, but breakup angst wounds me deep ya'll. I hate thinking of them not together. I hate thinking of them thinking they are better off not together. I hate IT it makes me cry all of my tears.
But I love the path of recovery and finding their way back to each other. That shit is GREAT.
Slowburn: +10
Yeah baby gimme that pining. I love a slowburn because I love tension, and you get such good fucking tension when it takes a lot of work for them to get together. Also you just see more rounded, complex characterization because they are generally working through feelings and spending time together and just building up that relationship. And I'm a sucker for it, makes the get together all the sweeter. I love all kinds of burns, but slow burn gets me good.
Soulmates: +9
Yes, absolutely yes to soulmate fics. I also love a trope reversal here specifically, because there's a part of me that's also obsessed with the choice over destiny factor and seeing how that comes into play meaningfully, but I will say that the vast majority of Snowbaz soulmate fics have been really fucking good and it's a tag I purposefully seek out.

umineko ep 1 impressions
i liek never rlly successfully text post on here. but since i keep fan art and vgm on here i thought i might as well track my progress on this million word 100 hour visual novel JOURNEY to look back on later. obv spoilers for the first episode and its tea party and ??? segment.
for the most part, what drew me into umineko was atmosphere and that amazing ost and ive watched little out of context vids on the game just to get a taste cuz im just rlly into it. im so glad i chose Umineko Project over 07th mod for my first pt since just small things like the rain effects and the lip synching add so so much. the Experience of Umineko just has really nice levels to it. Ive listened to goldenslaughterer like a million times just from that one erika furudo clip and it didnt lose a bit of its power when i heard it for the first time in the scene at the garden shed and it made that whole scene just so exciting after literal hours of shifting from light playful scenes with the cousins and tense scenes with the ushiromiya siblings, building upon both heavily only for both sides of the family to just come crashing down in one morning.
speaking of the cousins i feel like theyre by far the most fun characters to hang out with outside of maybe eva and natsuhi reading the fuck out of each other. i have a long history of immediately gravitating to my cousins during family get togethers and its really nice to see they more or less keep their camaraderie through the events of the first episode except for maria but like. lmao. also seeing the cousin's varied reactions to their parents deaths hits kinda close as someone who has a really strained relationship with theirs. how grief manifests differently for each of them based on the trauma and issues they have with their parents is so interesting to see and i feel like a lot of games dont really explore this besides the kids feeling generally sad abt it, and im super excited to see the inner workings of this family laid bare.
that also includes the parents as siblings too cuz even tho theyre all kinda fuckheads in their own way, theres some real truth to how their upbringing kinda ruined all their relationships and potentially their outlooks on life. and even tho krauss is the most outwardly fucked up most of the time, rosa is Super sinister to me just being a character whos at the lower end of a power dynamic but still having responsibilities as a mother. of course we know how she mistreats maria and it would be nice to see rosa like admit that her issues with maria are somewhat her fault, but it would also be nice to see rosa begin the path of redemption and like ive seen clips of her with the rifle in one of the episodes so im sure itll be somewhere hopefully. at the very least i like the inlaws a lot too, hideyoshis nice, kyrie is super cool and the irony of her "flip the chessboard" outlook not being used before krauss could turn the tables on his other siblings earlier, because rudolf wouldnt let her talk, is not lost on me, and i was unsure abt natsuhi at first and she def still has issues but she really grew on me by the end after she had sorta made up with jessica, especially the scene where she accepted the charm from her daughter. again i gravitated toward jessica from the start and her experience feels like the richie rich version of how i was in high school, and her and her mother have a lot to sort out with each other, but the gesture and the fact that they both at least tried starting to make things better was just. so sweet. as for other characters, i rlly like kanon and shannon, the other servants besides like the chef guy are cool and kinzos funny as hell (love that in the UP translation he calls jessica fucking ILLITERATE for being a c student. like damn girl me too). again i cant wait to see how everything pans eventually pans out.
this is just a tentative ranking for the characters ive seen so far. i maybe coulda put george one rank lower idk, even tho ive seen hate for him, i just kinda like him. hes good with kids and the scenes where he lost his loved ones were touching. and like yea his relationship with shannon from a power dynamics perspective isnt great but i feel like it was kinda fraught to being with anyways.
for the plot i admittedly dont have a ton of ideas so far. ive never been one to make crazy predictions on stories as i was experiencing them. and im trying to here which is why im writing everything out. but, with my previous exposure to the game being crazy out of context clips, it makes the main conflict of the first episode being the issue of an 19th person and the reality of magic kinda weird considering. all the shit ive seen. with witches. and is anticipating crazy shit. i rlly didnt know what to think until the tea party and the ??? segment which did elucidate things. guessing that going forward, instead of having to reckon with the presence of magic, battler is gonna keep his strong stance against the "magical/fantastical/etc" and that he and beatrice will be diametrically opposed, considering i also know how they end up in debates later on and stuff like that. bernkastel in the ??? segment also explains how beatrice is more of a metaphor of an abstract concept rather than a person which also makes things kinda simpler in my head. and i know about the metanarrative aspects too (clocking all the detective literature references) so im prob gonna hold off until i see a bit more of it to make any crazy predictions. i mostly just wanna see new perspectives on some of the weirder happenings like the tool shed murders and the chain locked room, why natsuhi shot herself, how the key to the gold was even located so that the first six could be chosen and everything else. super excited to jump back in with episode 2, even tho the previous episode felt like it took eons to get thru, and i cant wait to see how everything changed over the course of this game.

Shen Yexi so far is the closest a priest protagonist has come to me (that ive read and not counting whatever he does later sjdjjf) dude works too hard, comes back to work still not totally healed, hears some heartbreaking stuff occured, starts speedwalking and crashed into someone with coffee, immediately apologizes
And ohhhh i think (im making wild guesses here) we have just landed on perhaps... the love interest? A major character either way. This is a *youth* profusely apologizing for running into Him, more worried about if coffee got on Shen Yexi, and not concerned as much that it got on himself. Wearing dark clothes, dark brown hair with curls, black rimmed glasses "newly transferred admin."
Look. Im hoping for a guo changcheng kind of mold. Maybe less of a goody two shoes (given the title of this being the way of evil and all that) but more guo changcheng than fei du maybe?
On the other hand. Im hoping the love interest is an actual killer and stuff because if theres gonna be a cat and mouse mutual chase i want it to be like Light and L or Hannibal and Will. I loved Guardian's mutual investigating chase with weilan but in the end they were on the same side, the tension dropped. Same with luo wenzhou and fei du, ypu realize either 1/3 or 2/3 into it that even with Fei Dus secrets 1 hes never really gonna have evil intentions, at worst just unhinged fucking decisions that might break law. And 2 luo wenzhou is so Loyal to people he chooses to care about that he'll love fei do Regardless now forever, worst case he might just have to arrest fei du himself or else look the other way. Reading modu i thought a potentially fun alternative to explore would be if fei du really had decided to cross a line (in his head sure he thouggt he had, and it was manipulative and fucked up, but at the same time he wasnt the monster he feared he was... and not the one the bad guy expected, and just as good as luo wenzhou felt he was). Had like been the bad guy himself. Now, that doesnt fit his character. But in another novel... maybe this one? I can hope.
Maybe this new admin isnt even an important character ToT maybe hes the killer of the case of the moment or some lil corrupt cop leading to a more important character. Im jumping ahead lol.
If shen yexi crushes on a younger man tho... thatll be yet another age gap relationship in a priest novel. (In modu's defence, cause im not actually fond of the trope unless like there is some useful reason in story or exploration? Well in modu their age differences do so Much to inform so much of how they act: luo wenzhou the savior, the guardian, forgiving things u forgive a child for but not a stranger - also thar way with all he sees as family like tao ran - but simply that fei du being youbg when they met made luo wenzhou want to Take Care and see a stranger as family, the way fei du wants to be yelled at, wants guidance even though he finds it hypocritical and useless, that he uses lup wenzhou in many ways to work out his own issues with his father and seek out an alternative to his utterly fucked upbringing - he also uses Tao Ran for this probably likewise cause tao ran was also older and pushed bu luo wenzhou to sorta Adopt fei du emotionally, the way all 3 of them are in this web of using each other as pedastals for their morals and proof of their own inner guilt and surrogates for family/friends/mentors/victims/saviors they want or feel they lost or are afraid to get. A LOT of fei du and luo wenzhous unique dynamic wouldnt exist without their like 10+ age gap.) So back to this novel like. 28 and new admin is like 21 to 28... its like. Guo changcheng x zhao yunlan. Its... fine? Its not really that much its just. Me lol judging a little if so, cause dating a subordinate is Not professional and Such a mess and well. I get coffeeshop aus and office aus in theory but in reality the idea of dating a coworker boss or subordinate is something i avoid. Djdjjr oh romance fiction and ur tropes. (I say this while shipping coworkers in guardian galore so yes i know djjjdjd)

taken from here. i did this last year and it was fun so im doing it again
1. How many words have you written this year?
i published 110,143 words this year! written...... no clue.
the first half of this year was mostly spent working on the jdau, but the second half was mostly spent on working on oc stuff that i dont post anywhere. i have no way of tracking how much i wrote for that bc this year i shifted all of my oc works from google docs to saved files on my computer, so the dates are all fucking wrong. ; ; if you add that mystery number onto the mystery number of scrapped projects and wips..... theres no telling. theres no telling.
2. How many works did you publish this year?
i posted 12 works on ao3 this year, not counting the fics i rewrote. i posted 9 drabbles on tumblr. this wasnt a great drabble year for me, i think.
3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
i like the afterlife drabble i wrote about jason and nico. i feel like every time i write about them theres just something so bittersweet and punchy about it. it was a cool idea that kind of leaves me thinking about the world behind it, but not in a way that needs to be elaborated on.
as far as fics psoted on ao3, maybe under the skin? its such a different dynamic, and the tension is drawn so taut, it walks the line perfectly between violence/hatred and grief/love. its one im always second guessing myself about, but i had so much fun with it, sometimes i just have to remind myself its okay to make things just for the sake of exploration/indulgence.
4. What work of yours has the most hits?
snow day, with about 1k hits. i think thats the fic where a lot of people stop reading the jdau. its short, its fluffy, and i do actually still love this one a lot. i wrote it when i needed it.
5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?
i feel like a lot of my drabbles this year were really weak, so ive been surprised by the number of notes some of them have gotten. otherwise, mostly oc stuff? ive always struggled with sharing original content bc it never feels interesting enough, but the few friends i have shared it with have been so supportive and it means everything. @roomfulloferidans and @ashysiashy especially are always encouraging me and motivating me to keep making more, and i mightve given it up a long time ago otherwise tbh
6. Favorite title you used
oh thats gotta be The Family Disappointment actually. i like how much meaning and interpretation is embedded in it. if youve been reading the jdau, you might think its jason, but seeing that the fic centers damian, you might think its him. both boys struggle with feeling like theyre bruces biggest disappointment, but the fic is about brotherly solidarity, and recognizing that maybe bruce is actually the disappointment.
honorary mention to under the skin, bc i think that one was very funny/clever. i also named some oc works "the debilitating fear of garage doors" and "the inherent eroticism of handholding" and i like those a lot.
7. If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most?
its a fucking miracle. for once, i didnt use any.
8. Pairing you wrote the most for this year?
i guarantee it was bruharv again. bc the jdau. ive finally finished it tho, so who knows what the next will be?? the world is full of possibility.

im going to be so real w you. my ocs. their dynamic is so much fucking fun.

i guarantee it was one of the drabbles. altho i did spend much more time agonizing over them this year

the jdau. but specifically, im sure it was retirement, bc that one is the longest by miles.

one!!! im working on a hs fic for the first time in ages, tho i dont have all of my plans for it 100% solid yet. ive got threeish chapters written tho, so i think i will end up finishing it. ill probably start another wip soon so i dont contaminate this one w the urge to write nonsensical fluff.

its retirement. its definitely retirement. its 46k and everythign else doesnt really pass 10k
14. What’s your shortest work of the year?
one of the drabbles. on ao3, its off book.
15. What WIP are you taking into next year with you?
the aforementioned. its davesprite centric and so far its a lot about family and growing up.

bruce fucking again i hate writing him so much its unreal hes barely even a person to me hes been written so many different ways so many different times the source material is basically a suggestion and i HATE IT. also, nepeta. i cant get her voice right and its killing me and i refuse to write in pesterlog format im NOT DOING IT

eridve baby im coming home <333333 (<- insane) but probably also a lot of hal ships eventually

i have reread the jdau so many fucking times reviewing for the next chapter its fukcing unreal and insanity inducing. if i reread it any more im going to start hating it

772. this feels liek nothing compared to last year but its so much compared to the previous years so i think im doing good and last year was just a fluke

nope! not this year

most of my drabbles were requests, and i definitely wrote some fics w specific ppl in mind, namely @roomfulloferidans (Calming a Storm) and @ashysiashy (some oc stuff), but i didnt technically tag any gifts on ao3 this year
25. Did you receive any gifts this year?
nope! im kind of the writer of my friend group so fics are not generally smthn i receive. however, trustymikh drew this drawing inspired by my mermay bruharv drawing inspired by their mermay harvey drawing, so maybe that kind of counts?? i was delighted to see my bruce design in their style, at least. @roomfulloferidans drew a very nice drawing of my oc rogue that i cherish, @mudp1es and another friend of mine drew our spidersonas, and i participated in an oc art trade where another friend drew my oc barbie. i think those count as gifts, even if its not Ao3 Gifts(TM)
26. What’s your most common category?
M/M again bc i think its hot when men
27. What do you listen to while writing?
i tend to just loop playlists or single songs, unless im really struggling to concentrate, in which case ill switch to white noise.
28. Favorite work you wrote this year?
my oc fic, the inherent eroticism of handholding, which im 99% sure i did write this year? it captures a very specific kind of uncertain tenderness where a crush is new and theyre feeling out flirting still. i think about the scene where theyre lying together in the dark while everyone sleeps and holding hands for a reason they cant justify, not looking at each other, talking about nothing, all the time. i also rlly like the oc fic i just finished a lot- domestic(ated).
that i published, i guess under the skin for reasons i already talked about.
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
im just gonna collect a few here, bc its hard to pick when i write so goddamn much:
Two Face hesitated. Carefully, he asked, “Do you think they want to get rid of you?”
Jason’s eyes flickered away from him, his mouth opening, and then closing. “Yeah?” he said, finally. He sounded unsure.
Water dripped from Two Face's curls and slid off of his nose, spattering against the symbol on Bruce's chest. He found himself blinking hard, his breathing coming fast and tight. "You told me- You were supposed to be- Not even in death. Not even in death, would you have ever told me."
The Backroad Home
Eridan kissed like a fire slowly burning him from the inside out. He tasted like liquid courage and saltwater spray, sticky sweet like taffy the way he stuck in Dave's chest. His hands left scorched trails behind when they slid over Dave's skin, haunting, dizzying, warm like the inside of his mouth.

For a while, Two Face just let the breeze wash over him, ruffling his hair as his skin prickled from the chill. A siren blared somewhere in the distance, and he sucked sauce absently from his thumb, setting aside the tupperware.
“I care deeply about this city,” the TV crackled. “That’s why I’m donating-”
Two Face tucked a cigarette between his lips, pulling his lighter out of his pocket. There was a ritual to it. The slow inhale, the gradual exhale. The wind pulled the smoke from his lips, and it disappeared over the rooftops.
Bruce’s laugh washed over Two Face. It was vapid and fake over the airwaves, but the memory of it rattled around Two Face’s chest, warm and startled as they rolled in the sheets in Bruce’s dorm. Longing took hold and ached.
Under the Skin. there are a lot of great lines from this one, but this may be my favorite
Spectre's chin bumped gently against Rogue's shoulder, inches left between them, and Rogue thought about how easy it was to steal things in the dark. "Tell me about something," Spectre whispered. "Anything. And I'll sleep."
the inherent eroticism of handholding. this whole fic was very quoteable and so is Domestic(ated) but i will make this my single oc quote.
30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?
that people would like my ocs, really. moth tenderly cares for them like real blorbos and i still dont really know how to process that

finally finished watching str*nger th*ngs s4 so im just gonna put my thoughts under a readmore bc i Have... A Lot And I Need To Get Them Out (also needless to say, dont click unless you want spoilers for the whole season)
overall i came in with low expectations and still felt that a lot of things were pretty underwhelming. most of what i like from previous seasons wasnt included in this one or was pretty badly written. this was a very plot-driven 1st half of a season and they pulled off some good things but there was so little emotional material available which frustrated me the most. JKSHFLKDJGLG i hate being such a downer bc i did have fun watching! theres just a lot of stuff specific to my tastes that i feel werent developed well
ANYWAY, to be more specific
--MAX MAYFIELD MY BELOVED
--Max was AMAZING this season and i love her so much
--all things being said, im amazed that they were make such a solid story with multiple plotlines given how LONG this whole thing was. i expected a lot of bullshit twists being pulled to keep things interesting but i didnt see much of that. do i like the direction they went in with a lot of things? not really, but i admire that they were somewhat able to keep it cohesive
--hawkins plot was the best plot. i like the concept of 'teens with a haunted past' being targeted and of the town turning against the hellfire club. its an interesting change in dynamics for once to see other people get involved in the strange happenings, although i dont really like how theyre making the upside down this single hellscape entity bent on the destruction of hawkins instead of some alternate doomhorror dimension minding its own business unless you accidentally stumble into it/let it seep into your own world. idk i like the ambiguity of antagonists driven mostly by instinct, like the demogorgon in s1 and the mind flayer in s2
--on the other hand the california/russia plotlines just seemed so... pointless? like there was so little explored about the byers (not-)adapting to a new town before everything was launched into motion. which i get for pacing reasons but leaves very little for like. exploring the emotional aspects of it. hated will being absolutely completely invisible in the new town. hated seeing el being forced to team up with her literal abuser to get her powers back and it being presented as a choice. and i feel for hopp but the prison plotline was just... boring to me JFKHDLJKHFLKD idk how else to explain it. like we know that hoppers sad and angry and misses joyce and el, there just wasnt much room for much else character development in his arc, like something something he lets his anger get the best of him when hes scared and doesnt know how to cope with it in a healthy matter something something
--it would have been so nice to see El and Will being forced to interact more closely for once but somehow despite being Literal Siblings now the writers still somehow managed to get them to nope over each other like same sided magnets, save for a few single lines at the beginning of the season. i do appreciate those few little moments of will trying to watch out for el sometimes but wish that there had been some reciprocation at some point
--they really did my boy Will so dirty reducing him to a single character personality point again: Pining
--Michael Wheeler Didn't We Go Through This Same Exact Plotline Last Season. Why Are You Excluding Your Best Friend In Place Of Your Girlfriend Again
--a single verbal apology doesnt really do it for me also. it doesnt ever feel like will and mike made up bc theres no ACTIONS to make up for it! Pls just give me some kindhearted gestures, some consideration, some platonic affection...!
--ARGYLE MY BELOVED. Argyle was great tho. god knows jonathan deserves having someone to destress with
--my god why is it that the only way the writers can make relationships interesting is threatning to have them break up. max and lucas make sense but is the nancy/steve teasing really necessary? you're really gonna have her move on like that without even talking to jonathan first?
--and jonathan's plotline about feeling obligated to throw away his future to care for is so good! wish they'd explored more of it in the plot itself
--on the breakup note: really didnt enjoy the argument mike had with eleven just because so much of it felt... manipulative? not in an intentional way but i dont think that was handled well at all on either side. but i mean, i really dont blame mike for being upset about the rollerskating incident and then for everyone to try and pretend it didnt happen. and eleven being like, you're scared of me so you dont love me anymore. OOF! idk it just gave me a lot of vibes about insecure ppl in relationships who do bad things and then use their upset feelings as a justification without properly apologizing for it
--LUCAS MY BELOVED
--my poor boy lucas was just trying to have a normal life and get a better reputation for both him and his friends jdkhflkadhjfkl he didnt ask for everyone to suddenly go unhinged around him. im love him so much
--ROBIN MY BELOVED
--robin was so good this season. i love her and her motor mouth and im cackling so much because i KNEW that awful outfit was a disguise! nancy honey why the fuck do you have that monstrosity in your closet? i know you can do better
--also really adore robin slowly inching her way into nancy's heart as a friend. nancy needs more female friends. And also how dare vecna use barb's death against nancy (gleeful). im wondering how theyll handle pulling her out of the trance considering i dont think anyone knows nancy's favorite song (and even if they manage to contact mike or her parents id be surprised if any of them would know it as well)
--the running up that hill scene? iconic. amazing. outstanding. i cried, oh my god i love max mayfield so much
--i do love that even though a big part of max's grief involves guilt for billy's death, they acknowledge that he was not a nice person and and that his relationship with max was complicated, and that some part of her is even relieved at not having to deal with that anymore.
--the One/Henry Creel reveal twist at the end was neat but i still dont get what this fucker's deal is? from what i understand This Man Just Wants To Be A Murderous Bastard. sure everyone assumes hes working for the mind flayer but we never saw it outside of flashbacks this season
--Speaking Of Which, Why Are There So Many Flashbacks To Previous Seasons. i mean i know the duffer brothers love their flashbacks but i promise you we remember what happened before duffers

The pieces I mentioned above (nightmare pieces and fighting pieces and angsty home life ha.. ha.ha.ha.). That Oikawa one where the reader wakes up in bed without him and thinks he left. You write these gorgeous atmospheres and descriptive, visceral feelings, and if you chose to use it for evil…. You could get evil shit done. You’re SO powerful. So I want to read it… but also…. I don’t. I’d love to see you write ABO like you mentioned a while back or just see you explore a cutesy soulmate AU or something. I think you’d be really good at writing an AU where you hear what the other person’s listening too. I feel like you’d be so good at making me feel something for someone who was in another city. (think this would be cute with Tsukki cos he’s headphones boy, OR terushima because I like the dynamic of someone flirty, who clearly cares about looks, falling for someone he can’t see) ANYWAY….

LMAO that’s why she’s called Kat. She’s not exactly the same as her brother. In terms of being very deadly in combat they’re both pretty similar, yes, they spar often, but Kat won’t go as far as mastering all weapons and picking a fight with strong looking people. Before Ajax fell into the abyss, his desire is to be an adventurer, explore the world and what not. But after the abyss, well things change. Kat knew that the minute she stare in her brother’s eyes, she knew she lost a part of him.
Her going on her merry way, exploring entire nations, meeting interesting people and over all just having a grand adventure was her way of fulfilling a part of Ajax that she thought she lost. She still loves her brother but she doesn’t know how to confront him with the past and the fatui. Speaking of the fatui, it’s not exactly hard to not suspect a few things. Honestly she doesn’t want to know, hopefully it won’t cause her too much in the long run.
For the most part she lived up to her Anemo Vision. She does what she wants with no regrets. Except on the topic of Ajax and his very questionable life choices. And you were right to assume that their parents have their hands full. Ajax likes adventure + Kat likes adventure = sneaking out a lot to have their own little adventures. Never mind the bone chilling climate of Snezhnaya or the fact this twins are getting pretty adept at climbing houses. Nothing stops them from rescuing a dragon and fighting a princess— no wait that doesn’t sound right.
In terms of sending souvenirs she actually doesn’t do that. Unless she’s going home then she’s sending the souvenirs in bulk. But if she’s still in her conquest of 100% exploration, one nation at a time, she’s only sending letters and recipes and for the sake of trolling her brother her will. Alright now for how she met Xiao. It’s actually pretty funny, after befriending Smiley by buttering him up with compliments he agreed to give her tips on cooking and teach her how to make their specialty dish. When she mastered that, it’s obviously going to lead with her making a few modifications here and there.
Once she’s finish with her version of Almond Tofu, she left it at one of the tables that give the best view on the balcony and went to fetch her Kamera. She’s planning on sending a photo to her family and the recipe. She went back to the balcony only to find her that her food is missing. It obviously piss her off that someone had the AUDACITY to steal from under her nose, her room was close to the balcony she would have caught them red handed!
At this point in time, she’s already a regular and a friendly face in Wangshu Inn. She stayed there whenever she investigate Sal Terrae and to collect horsetail for rice buns. So she’s comfortable whining like a child at Verr about how some punk stole her dinner last night. She woke up the next day with an empty plate on her nightstand and a qingxin flower on it. All Kat could think at that moment was ‘Is this an apology or an insult?’ So that night she made an Almond Tofu. Her Almond Tofu. And she meet the adeptus that night as well. An unlikely friendship was born from this. I’m not gonna go into details because it’ll turn into a fic.
In summary though, their friendship dynamic consist of, a very free spirited woman with a Guardian Yaksha for a guard dog best non human friend. When the traveler arrived and also befriend the yaksha Kat wouldn’t help but feel possessive. They befriended him the same way she unintentionally did. So she cooly challenge them to a chess game, because fighting is her brother’s thunder and unlike some people she doesn’t steal anyone’s thunder. Also chess fights is what cool and sophisticated people do.
They were good, more than that! The traveler actually made things challenging and interesting. Before she or the traveler knew it, quite a few hours had pass already. The traveler was close to dozing off but Kat still wants to play. Despite that, her big sister instinct kicking in, she gently coaxed the traveler to rest. She comfort herself that there’s still tomorrow to continue the game.
Uggghhhh I knew I was gonna word vomit about this. Things might get funky in my ‘descriptions’ because it’s honestly getting dangerously close to being a fic.

Yeaaahh these two would totally make their mom go bald and their dad constantly scolding them for their behaviour or something 😭😭 but you know I think its nice that Childe can have a sibling who is similar to him rather than protecting them 24/7 while hiding his secret life. I think they would share each other's burdens from time to time due to how close they are, at least thats the vibe I'm getting at xP Knowing that Kat isn't as extreme as her brother tells me shes probably the one who has to look out for him the most.
Oh would you look at that, now theres two cooks in the family (the moment I found out that Childe can cook was canon had me melt and vaporize 🥺) Maybe both of them would also have cooking sessions than just fighting ones? Thats some wholesome family moments uwu. Your OC kind of reminds me of a mix with Xiangling and Hu Tao because of their cheery vibes, but compared to their bold attitude, Kat sounds more brave (I guess its cuz she grew up with Childe). Xiao is a scary looking guy whom barely anyone goes near, unless they brushed off that glare like dust and just continue being their cheery self (I honestly love that dynamic as you can see xD). But truthfully, Xiao needs someone who is like that because obviously he's too secluded to do it himself ._.
I think his first impressions of her would be "presumptuous" but later he gets used to her company and it even grows on him. Maybe I'm just over analyzing this, the fact they both have anemo visions show how different they handle it's meaning. One wants freedom and the other knows how to live in it (eeek! Okok i stop before this gets off topic). In addition to the traveler coming into the scene, I bet they'll also become good friends too! After all, they both share the burden of loving their siblings too much (perhaps traveler would find some familiarity in her presence).
Hehe this was a fun read tho \(^0^)/ thank you for sharing! Honestly even if I said this many times, I really love reading people's ideas since it helps me get my inspiration back >_< The word vomit had just begun my friend, you might wanna keep it in a notebook LOL.

Quick first thoughts on the first ep of the Hypmic Anime. Spoilers beware (and im writing this as I watch so :p)
Otome’s speech is.... questionable from a persuasive point of view. Manga did a great job of introducing her (which you can read here) but they really cut out the more terrifying parts of her speech and how she uses force to show people that she's not to be messed with
Its cool seeing everyone in their respective environments though. thats cool. Though they could have added Sasara and Kuuko (shhh i know why they didn’t let me dream)
I love how poppy the typography is. Its amazing how the visuals just leap out at you. The OP does a great job of this. The first few seconds before the title really gives me Persona 4 OG OP vibes with the influx of information given. The rest is a clear concise and streamlined way that still gives character. Animation is sparse but still carries across a general idea of each character and shows off each character object. Rendering is really nice and pays a bit of homage to the posing artwork thats done for the MVs. They also do their division hand signals and thats cute
Love how the OP has blatant HifuDoppo and DRB matchup foreshadowing
so far I really like what theyre going for. BB is about brotherly familial bonds and they show the goods and the bads. Jiro and Saburo bickering right out the gate really cements the fact that they get along like cats and dogs but you can still see that they love each other, working together when the situation calls for it
Now the 3d models. Theyre... not great but usable if you don’t look too hard. They serve their purpose and don’t actively detract from the viewing experience.
Visual typography in the rap itself are fun and poppy but they dont.... speak to me? like theyre there yes and I appreciate them but the only ones that got me excited were from Ichiro’s rap

I love how they interpret the Hypnosis Speakers though. Esp. Saburo’s organs. That was super creative and I love it! If there was one thing that I felt was missing from the franchise was a deeper exploration of the speakers but the anime puts a new and fresh spin on it! Love it, especially with their attack patterns!
If the production team ever feels inclined to, Id love to see those info sheets on Otome’s desk released. There seems to be very interesting info and stats written out about each member (like capabilities, personal status etc.) They all seem unique too so I really really really hope they release images of those sheets
OOOOOOOOKAY MTC. I have such a big biased for them so Im very torn to see what unfolds
Rio striking out on his own is interesting. Out of everyone in MTC hes the biggest team player yet here he trusts his teammates to go ahead. This either displays Rio’s willingness to trust his teammates or it becomes very OOC if the anime wants to set him up as a lone wolf like character
I love how they specify its a drug deal. It means that Jyuto surely will show up and it also shows that Samatoki knows Jyuto’s motives and willingly gives black market info that he knows aligns with Jyuto’s goal. Thats A+ detail writing there and a great establishing characteristic for both of them
OOohhhhhhhhhhhhh man Asunama-san’s voice acting is god tier his work as Samatoki is phenomenal. He pulls of Samatoki’s threatening voice so well with those almost calm words before his voice becomes loud and confrontational. Those rolling syllables in contrast to Komada-san’s almost lyrical and airy speech and Kamio-san’s strict and enunciated words is such a delight to hear. It just speaks to how amazing and great these Seiyuu’s are in order to pull of such amazing work
Im so biased but MTC has such a better rap than BB im so sorry. Just by watching Samatoki’s part, the imagery is amazing. Even the arrival of his Hypnosis Speaker was awesome and sent a shiver down my spine. using the lyrics to form blades and blood was such a great thing to do. Theres so much more variety that just him standing there and shots of his hypnosis speaker. The old fashioned vignette shots, the four panel spread, the nods to old Kurosawa era films are great and I love these small details. Even the typography looks better.
Again, the interpretations with the speakers is fresh and new. Its great and I love the different imagery and attack patterns. Each one is so unique but carries across each different style of rap.
The 3d modles aren’t any better tho lol
(Hi this is Astro who is reading over their assessment again and making a note. Yeah I’m a bit harsh on BB’s rap. I’m not going to change it since I still stand by it and this post is supposed to be a documentation of my first impressions. I think one of the reasons why I’m so harsh on BB is because of their dynamic as a trio of brothers. They Have to have a more uniform approach than the other divisions. Which in of itself isn’t a terrible thing, it just doesn’t catch my eye as much as MTC did. Thats all! I definitely don’t hate BB, they’re maybe my 3rd favorite division out of the current lineup [not including TDD era teams like Kujaku Posse, MCD, and Naughty Busters] its just that their rap was pretty meh)
Samatoki crouching like a real gangstar and the cigarette kiss killed me
sadjkhfjkasdghsadjkcsdjhsdfsjhf im dying i love these trio of dumbasses so uch oh y fod someone save me aaaaaaaa (Astro note here! yeah i died when the jyuto and samatoki’s stomach growled im weak please. Samatoki’s face is just so precious and funny I might set it as a profile pic somewhere)
But also my initial assessment of Rio possibly being characterized as a lone wolf is very much jossed and im very thankful for that. It seems that Rio was simply trusting his teammates to carry out their part of the plan while he carried out his own. I like that, it really shows how much of a team these three are and that they genuinely trust each other. He’s also comfortable enough around them to invite them to dinners after work casually and not just for special occasions.

Oooh! we get Ramuda on his design process which is really cute. the inside of his studio is super cute and retro and i love it. the poppy old music you would hear in a cafe or 90′s resturaunt is also really cute (astro note: yeah i know that in ARB you see the interior of Ramuda’s office but its kinda different seeing it animated)
the translation i have has gentaro speaking in early modern english (Shakespearian english for those who aren’t english nerds like me) but from what I can hear, he doesn’t speak in a particularly old fashioned way? Its more formal than old? and hes speaking without any of his character persona lying thing that he likes to do (as he refers to himself as “Shousei” throughout the segment where hes in Ramuda’s office which is kind of his default pronoun of choice). so its kinda odd for the translation to go in that direction but im not complaining
Gendice banter is gold but it feels... flat? a little? it doesn’t have the same impact as in the drama cds or in the manga? i feel? Also Ramuda using gratuitous english is??? idk how to feel about that
kjshf thats against the rules Ramuda omgggg,,,,,,,, (astro note again: while watching i was under the assumption that using your hypmic for monetary gain such a as buskering [which is what FP is doing] is against the rules. May not be the case but whatever)
FP’s rap might be my favorite in terms of tune and lyrics though. It’s a nice laid back bop and really gives of chill vibes. the integration of 3d and 2d is really nice and i love how they play off each other in the rap. The wordplay is so fun with little nods here and there and the beat is poppy too so it really energizes me.
Ramuda’s rap concerns me slightly since he makes very subtle and small nods towards his past (being created in a laboratory, warfare, and his overall very unpleasant life experiences) but spins it into something cutesy. It could be a coping mechanism, it could be me overthinking it. But it does make me worry a bit. Gentaro and Dice’s rap really play off each other with Gentaro sticking to stories and Dice taking up the baton by carrying on that same imagery but putting his own spin on it.
the self awareness of how scattered they are as a team is interesting though. It doesn’t seem like something you’d speak about in a rap? but i guess since its not really a do or die situation they can afford to be looser on things like this.
Right off the bat, i don’t like how they handled Hifumi and Doppo in relation to Hifumi’s fear of women. Slug made a post once talking about this and I echo many of his sentiments. Hypmic has never been very tactful about tackling this particular issue and while I didn’t have high hopes that the anime would be any better it hurts to see Doppo take away the one thing that allows Hifumi to function within society.
Doppo’s breakdown mirrors a lot of my own mental state when I spiral though its shown a lot quicker than what happens to me oof. that hits close to home. though Jakurai’s advice is. Questionable. Its not the best advice to give to someone but we have no idea what kind of doctor Jakurai is so ill let it slide
Jakurai’s pose looks like hes going to do a mahou shoujou transformation lmao
I don’t have many thoughts about the rap though again. How they visualize the rap is interesting. the different imagery is quite interesting for each of them and the typography is nice a distinct but im still on the fence about the visuals here
The sound is in the same boat. The sound effects either drown out the rap or are too quet but some parts are nice at least. When they talk about Tokyo’s beating heart, the heartbeat sound is a but distracting especially since its only played once. But the imagery is at least nice
I wonder if for the eds they’re going to take a similar approach to what Enstars did and have a four different endings, one for each division. I love the blend of styles here and it really accentuates that although they’re different they mesh well together.
Ramuda’s silhouette though is hilarious. Love it.
:p and thats it. Uh not bad for a first episode. Established all 12 characters really nicely and their dynamics. I had some problems with it but then again nothing is perfect. I look forward to what they show us next week

I definitely should ignore them but it seriously makes me kind of sad and angry at the same time? The hades and persephone posts are everything(mostly tumblr-fad!) Version I reread your original post and yes I do agree, tumblr-fad! Persephone does take away a lot of the complexities and archetypes I read you examine. I think Hadestown might portray Hades and Persephone's power struggle well, it doesnt completely ignore the implications its giving off for the sake of some romance. This is what tumblr is doing and it's really annoying. By doing this and reducing the characters here to simple boxes it's taking away your interest in the myth, I think that's what you meant? I think your study of Hades/the underworld being Persephones self, cthonic meaning "spirit of nature within, inner self" while I dont fully understand that's really cool. I especially dislike how woobified and depowered he usually is in the tumblr-fad! Theres a lot you can work with him as the antagonist in a retelling I think. In fact maybe itd be great to have a retelling that explores the power struggle between Hades and Persephone and shows how Persephone gets through adversity and becomes of equal power through oppressive authority? Thatd be really cool. Tumblr-fad! Version is the twilight of myths but kind of the opposite. In twilight, the author itself romanticizes the creepiness and power struggle that might be there between Edward itself(although Bella does have a lot of agency so I think that's why it resonated so much with female readers?) while the Persephone has a various amount of versions, most versions being she was kidnapped/abduction with many meanings and metaphors and allegories to things, and tumblr-fad! Version ignores nuance in favor of their ships. Thanks for being so open and honest about this, I honestly was stressed because I thought my response maybe being immature or uninformed might be irritating or annoying. I haven't been sneaking through your blog or anything like that, I just saw your original post in the goddess demeter tag so I searched up "Persephone" on your stuff since I was curious with what else you might have to say about it. I wish Tumblr could maybe bother to learn something called not everything is entirely not THIS thing or the OTHER and maybe do something different from what Hades and Persephone coming to be known as the peak of all love stories on the website.

I think I’m starting to understand what you’re getting at regarding the perception of victims as “weak,” and it makes a lot of sense. Thank you for clarifying regarding the “damsel in distress” trope because that’s when it clicked for me what you were talking about. I actually agree on that point, I think there is a tendency for pop feminism to kind of portray more vulnerable, sensitive or fragile women as less feminist, so I can see how you’re applying that to your views on how people on tumblr perceive the story of Hades and Persephone.
That said, I think you have a lot of different angles you’re looking at this whole thing from, and that’s great! However I think there’s so many subjects you are trying to tackle here that it seems like you are kind of are only half informed about, maybe from exploring discussions online. I think this is resulting in conclusions that are kind of confused and lacking in more solid foundations, if that makes sense. I think maybe you might benefit from exploring each element further on their own merits.
For example, did you know that there are a lot of different feminist viewpoints on Twilight itself? And not all feminists completely condemn it? In my opinion, there are a lot of things about Twilight to criticize, however there was a distinct element of hatred for the interests and desires of teenage girls involved with how people responded en masse to the Twilight phenomenon. I don’t think you were old enough to be directly familiar with all this at the time. I think a decent primer would be this video from Lindsay Ellis (tho please keep in mind that some of her most recent content is not for younger audiences). It doesn’t cover all angles of the topic, but it does give an alternative perspective in retrospect about the raging Twilight hate that swept through pop culture for a long time:

Also, there is a whole conversation to be had about the concept of “woobification,” and why that word exists, as well as how it is used in conversations about girls and women’s fantasies. The original post I made shows that I have my own frustrations when male villains and darker archetypes are whittled down to something seemingly non-threatening and “socially acceptable” myself (like...turning the beast into the prince in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast), but in my experience, people have often used the word “woobie” to describe any explorations of the vulnerability of these types of male characters when women do so because they find those men intriguing or attractive, and that can get kind of tricky because in many ways, those conversations can harbor a subtle resentment and shaming towards female fantasties, period.
I’m getting the impression that maybe there’s something about Hades and Persephone, or at least the archetypes they embody, that really intrigues you, but you’re not sure what you are supposed to think and feel about it from a feminist perspective. That’s ok, ultimately you’ll figure it out on your own. I can’t tell you what to think about the myths themselves on their own, separate from contemporary feminist media because that’s ultimately it’s own thing, and you can springboard your own perspectives and reimagining off of the original in any way that feels right to you.
What I can do though, is leave you with some age-apropriate content that I was consuming at your age, as well as a link to a site that explores stories with similar archetypes that Persephone embodies.
The site is called Girls Underground, and it explores and catalogues stories about girls who go on heroine’s journeys in the “Cthonic” context like I was talking about, as in exploring their own inner psyches through the experience of traversing a strange, scary, magical place. Sometimes these stories involve the trope of a spooky attractive male character who takes on an adversarial role that is sometimes also romantically charged, but not all of them do. I think the resources page may be of particular interest to you because it links to essays on subjects within this genre of storytelling. The Examples page has a ton of other stories not listed here that you can take a look at, however not all of them (but many of them!) are kid friendly.
Movies that I would recommend:
Labyrinth (1986), which was my favorite film since early childhood, and is the reason I love these types of stories to begin with.
Legend(1985), which doesn’t depict a healthy dynamic, but is a great film and does have a big place in the general conversation about this type of storytelling.
Howl’s Moving Castle, either the book or the film.
Pan’s Labyrinth is rated R for some gore and violence, and it has scary moments, but I think it’s fine for most teens. The character of Pan is not part of that whole “demon lover” trope because the heroine is a small child, but he takes on a similar role in terms of being a figure that embodies the underworld and thus a major part of the heroine’s psyche.
Honestly, I would consider Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (the original, not the live action remake) a good rendition. It was written by a woman.
Jean Cocteau’s black and white La Belle et La Bete.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, or a film adaptation of the same.
Rebecca by Daphne DuMarier, which is what my username is from. I’m fond of the Hitchcock film adaptation.
Honestly, the 2004 adaptation of Phantom of the Opera is...flawed, but it was my introduction to Phantom, and it’s a lot of melodramatic fun.
It’s worth noting that in a lot of these stories, there are not perfect, healthy relationships depicted between men and women. There is cruelty, there is harm. But in many cases, that does not mean these stories have nothing to say about relationships between men and women, nor does it say that they are solely tales about abuse and we cannot find romanticism within them. Each story has it’s own flaws, it’s own strengths, hold deeper meanings beyond the surface. They contribute something distinct to a rich history of artistic explorations of the dynamics of power in romance and the female experience with our own desires within a patriarchal society.

kinda agree with the anon who said katsuki being guilty older for stuff he did when he was 14 is kinda...
tho i think katsuki has a lot to make up for and stuff he did when he was 14 was really bad, i also think that like 10 or 20 years later, he should have gone through enough character development for him to regret his actions but not dwell on it like it's the be-all end-all of his character. I read a fic barely ten minutes ago that had deku turning down katsuki's engagement when they were thirty because he still hadn't forgiven him for the shit he did when katsuki was 14(granted deku had been hit with a quirk that made it harder for him to forgive but katsuki having to crawl through coals at thirty for stuff he did when he was fourteen is still a weird plot point)
I think it's ooc for both of them to still hold on to it when so much time has passed, tho bkg currently feels guilt for his actions he doesn't speak much about it, just tries to atone by helping deku, and deku holds no malice whatsoever. So it doesn't seem in character for it to still be a major minefield in their adult relationships when it isn't even treated as a minefield in their current one.

you do not do that to my favorite fic of 2019. while its takes have aged in light of current bkdk dynamics its a fun reading on IF deku had internalized bkgs treatment like any kid without the constitution or luck of an op shounen mc (and also its literally just the authors way of narratively beating the shit out of bkg and honestly i can stan;
also iirc: in that fic their dynamic had stagnated pre-UA. bkg did not develop or grow character-wise to the point that he wont even admit to wanting romance with izk while DATING HIM and izk endures it for so long its kinda reasonable he drags bkg through emotional hell and back over literally anything like the pivotal swan dive comment)
but also this isnt about deku; that guy literally thinks about sticking his hand out to a terrorist overlord, bkg calling him a worthless loser is basically just a shoulder bump at this point
this is bkgs baggage i want to explore. reiterating: he is still thinking about and making up for damage he had done at age four. theres a Flavor in uncertainty. dekus convinced he doesnt need forgiving so theres basically no end goal or verbal reassurance to stop. when can he stop atoning? at what point is the damage healed? what is this anime characters gauge for closure
anyway no the breakup au isnt just about bkgs past bullying making things weird, its specifically about how the whole 'atonement' thing can go wrong

Macbeth:
+ Sorano: Its one i’m happy with either otp or brotp (its an original ship from way back but i havent developed it or had a chance to think much about it so its probably more sitting in brotp land atm, it needs more love in any case). They have been together forever, they Know each other. They Get it. Which could also be bad in a way but idk. She is also one of the few people he actually cares about :’) and they just have such a Look
+ Meredy: Ever since Oracion Seis joined CS i’ve been thinking about these two! They’ve done bad things, she’s working to be good. He’s.......well, not really working on that. It could all go so Bad but also just be interesting. He might mess with her and i dont think my boy is really capable of a good kinda love but kjngkfjn they look nice together ok. And i think they could have a good dynamic and she really just. Puzzles him. I’ve also kinda actually had a bad experience with this ship in the past but I’m trying not to let it taint the ship as a whole!
+ Levy: She’s a feisty little nerd and he is here for it ok. I have been craving at least a brotp with them for like 5 years for real 😭 i think her intelligence will get him hooked especially. But also again, he’s gonna mess with her and tug at any insecurity she has, so theres gonna be some rough patches for sure. But also i just think they’d look cute.
+ Juvia: HE KNOWS ALL ABOUT HER OK she and gajeel destroyed some of the guilds Oracion Seis were running and in my book he was impressed. He has long been interested in her since then, she’s highly skilled and she’s smart and he also just doesn’t really understand her
+ Millianna: they’ve both survived the Tower and he remembers her from there. A running theme for him in any sort of relationship is for him to push the boundaries and just be an ass, he likes to get into peoples minds and mess with them (it isnt until they either break or he starts to respect them more that he eases up) but with Milli i think he will just let her be. He knows what she’s been through and for once he doesn’t want to further someone’s pain. She’s also super frickin cute and I’m a sucker for the bubbly girl and emo dude aesthetic. Also he really likes cats so they can bond over that.

+ Cana: Canon teammates, good friends. Beautiful looking pair. They have such great potential and with the right plotting it could hurt so good. I imagine they had a lot of trust before he was called out as being a spirit and i’d love to explore them working on rebuilding their connection. Angst and tension central.
+ Lucy: Their bond is so so so so important to me in whatever form it is. I’ve shipped them for a long time but also its difficult because of him being under her contract, so honestly I’m absolutely happy for some one-sided love or tragic forbidden love/believed unrequited stuff. He would do anything for her in any case.
+ Juvia: a guilty pleasure ship tbh. She deserves someone as generous and open as he is, and he’s a gentleman who will treat her right. I imagine mostly a soft friendship to lovers kinda thing (but obvs with some Drama bc he’s a spirit), he’d just be a very supportive and good friend to her and then the feels creep in? She’s also hella pretty. Also his friendship with Gray could also come into play too, like in a version of Juvia and Gray being close (bc gdi i would support a healthy friendship with those two) which leads to Loke spending more time with Juvia and he would approach her more without Gray too.
+ Yukino: I mean, again there’s some difficulty with the spirit/summoner and spirit/human thing but at least Yuki isnt his summoner (tho hmu for an AU maybe) and like. She just deserves someone nice like him.
+ Levy: she’s pretty and smart and deserves more love. I would love to explore their dynamic in general tbh bc i mean they were guildmates for a few years and i think he would have had some fun flirting/teasing her a bit and she’d maybe blush or roll her eyes or think nothing of it and never guess he actually does like her !

Favorite Quote- there are so many off the top of my head but like the biggest gutpunch to me personally was when jesse called derek out for his suicide attempt, asking what was he doing there when she found him and he just says ~i was waiting for you~ THO THO THO ALTERNATIVELY when they’re trying to get ellison to help program john henry and he says- you wanna teach it commands? start with the first ten.
Worst Character Death (if any)- uhhhhhh i think i like all of the character deaths on this show- i mean rileys death K I L L S me but i’m not angry about it and it was incredibly well done. dereks? maybe? i’m not actually mad about it but it was very abrupt. like i get it tho? OH WAIT I HAVE A REAL ONE friendgirl of johns who killed herself in the plotline that was never resolved bc of the writers strike. that was horrifying and ultimately we never even got a reason (beyond the obvious one they hinted at)
This made me so happy you have no idea Moment- what on this show makes anybody happy????? ever?????????????????????? uhhhhh. fuck. i mean the reveal about who riley is is SO GOOD i’m just always happy when the pieces slot together and we see new depth?

This made me so happy you have no idea Moment- when cindy and max cheated the money off of those assholes and then beat them up, still in their itty bitty sparkly outfits and left with such flair :) but just also max forever........ cindy/max forever.......... mine own heart.
Saddest Moment- when the show decided to make clones a thing breaking the whole internal logic of the entire first season aka them not knowing what the kids looked like :( I SAD

Favorite Location- the hyperion hotel is one of my favorite sets in all of television. i just wish we’d explored more of it, and that they hadn’t ditched it in favor of that new wolfram&hart set, which was honestly very very boring to me

Dazai n chuuya have such a fun dynamic its really a shame to bury their dialog under 'dazai insults n chuuya takes it'. Lke writing their dialogs was the most fun i had when working on the fic, i maneged to get such a good tone for dazai going (though i later rewatched dark era n realized i made him a tad too like hus adult self instead of bis teen self dgdgf mistakes were made). Like Dazai is smart and quick witted so its fun to write a lot more imaginative insults for him n then have chuuya rebuke with 'fuck you bastard ill kick your ass', like chuuya is never as creative with his insults and does a lot of reacting but he does in fact react n not just go :/ damn this sucks. Like they hate each other but they have that strong trust between them that cant be based on one side dishing out insults and the other taking them. At least in combat sense they have good communication and work as an effective pair. I do think they have a bit more problems communicating their feelings properly because i think dazai would be overexpressive and dramatic and chuuya would instinctivly react to it and it would take them a bit to like really get in sync. But also if you are talking about after dazai left mafia, their communication would probably be a little more strained at the begining but they really feel like the sort of pair that just very naturaly slides back into an old dynamic.
Idk i just think theres a lot of different ways to explore chuuya n dazai communicating to each other then fandom does n oh gosh now i feel like ill have to reread bungou again because ur getting me back into soukoku and i need to refresh myself on dazai without the angy at the writing glasses

Pfft. Soukoku just sucks you in with it’s potential (and then you mourn how many fics you just aren’t interested in reading because the way someone interprets their dynamic goes against they way you interpret it).
And yes! Chuuya never takes Dazai’s insults, he always reacts in some way, either by cursing him out or trying to hit him. He always rises to them and doesn’t let Dazai have the last word (in a sense), or at least lets him know that he won’t sit back and take his jabs silently (...Though Chuuya, baby, you need to work on your comebacks) so it’s so weird to see Chuuya so submission in some stories.
Especially if Dazai says something that would truly upset him. Chuuya would definitely make his anger clear (and it would be a lot different from his normal reactive anger to Dazai’s comments, it would probably be something dark that he usually directs at his enemies who have hurt his men).
Soukoku’s communication skills still manage to impress me everytime I watch their teamup episodes because it’s incredible to see how much these two trust each other in battle despite being on other sides. Dazai trusts Chuuya to protect him from attacks and Chuuya trusts Dazai enough to come up with the most effective attack stratergies. And then there’s the use of corruption that completely relies on the two of them to trust one another, or at least for Chuuya to trust Dazai.
Which is why I can understand your disappointment with Dazai after that activation of corruption with how he left Chuuya in the middle of the field and didn’t take him to the extraction point like he asked. I have a theory why Dazai did that but I’ll discuss that in your second ask because you bring it up in that and I don’t want to repeat myself XD
Dazai’s and Chuuya’s dynamic is just so interesting to explore T-T

Slow Burn or Love At First Sight (I don’t really like either tbh, but love at first sight has potential for interesting stuff with a character seeing another in action and wanting to be them and idealizing them, and how that mixes with attraction. it’s not a good set up to a healthy relationship of course, but the way its dysfunctional works for character exploration)
Fake Dating or Secret Dating (i’m a sucker for two people from conflicting factions having a relationship they hide, and i like some settings where societal homophobia and class divide makes secrecy in relationships a necessity)
Enemies to Lovers or Best Friends to Lovers (i really like characters who change a lot over the course of their story! and i like it when an antagonist switches sides and istead of dying or going to jail forever theres all kinds of messy working them into the group stuff)
Oh no, there’s only one bed! or Long-Distance with Correspondence (i like this for platonic immimacy more than anything, because thats what its been in my experance, but i can like a romantic angle if its done well (like in moby dick))
Hurt/Comfort or Amnesia ( i dont think amnesia is even really a popular fandom trope anymore )
Fantasy AU or Modern AU (i DO really like fantasy aus, but i like modern aus quite a bit more. especally when the setting is harsher on the characters then modern day would probably be and putting them in modern day lets them devolp in more possible directions)
Mutual Pining or Domestic Bliss (established relationships are underrated! plus having a couple whose happy and established leaves more room in the story to focus on other things)
Smut or Fluff (both are good, but you can do more with smut i think, as far as character dynamics and exploration goes)
Canon Compliant With Missing Scene or Fix-it Fic (i like both a lot, and while i wish i could say i didnt like fix it fic more... i do. althought not all fix it fic, my favorites are ones that undo an endiing that kills or otherwise destroys characters so they can have further stories)
Alternate Universe or Future Fic (i like the characters i like, not their kids haha)
One Shot or Multi-chapter (nnnnnn i’m not good at reading either way)
Kid Fic or Roadtrip (ppl often dont write kids so well, and i love roadtrips)
Reincarnation or Character Death (weirdly enough i think fic with character death scratches the same itch for me as fix it fic where characters live instead of die)
Arranged Marriage or Accidental Marriage (neither? but arranged marriage has potential as something to escape at least)
High School Romance or Middle Aged Romance (this is hard because i like a good high schoolers au that doesnt focus on romance but... well writen high school aus are pretty rare. i like stories about romance between employees at a high school, like a teacher and a janitor, while other characters are students, but those are even rarer. so...high school wins out but very narrowly)
Time Travel or Isolated Together (what if we self quarentined... together 😳😳😳)
Neighbors or Roommates (i’m an anatomized modern american and i dont know any of my neighbors by name :/. i think neighbors could be cool if it was a story about like... a rent strike tho, or in a setting where ppl talked to neighbors more)
Sci-fi AU or Magic AU (aaaa this is really hard because theres more you can do with magic aus but cyberpunk aus!! i love them so much!)
Bodyswap or Genderbend (god i LOVE aus where male characters are women, it doesnt work for all of them but theres quite a few i activiely prefer as women then as in canon, like hammer horror dracula and van helsing)
Angst or Crack (i dont have to much preferance for either if its writen well, but ive found humor fails more often)
Apocalyptic or Mundane (this is the same as modern au! but anyway yeah mundane, college aus included)

10. What is your favorite class to play?
i haven’t played as a lot, but i’ve got two warlock characters and i think i really like their dynamic :0 the relationship-with-the-patron aspect is fun for rp and story stuff, and the lack of spell slots makes spellcasting a little easier to keep track/less stressful of bc you just don’t have as many options :p my other main character is a bard & in comparison i feel a lot Less Pressure playing a warlock

PARTY 1 [the bandwagon of fun! party for a homebrew game], currently composed of:
”Wren” Firenze Jasperdune, a brass dragonborn bard [college of glamour]
“Sunny” Soluminaris Codexia, a high (sun) elf evocation wizard [+1 lvl knowledge cleric]
Basil Smalltown, a lightfoot halfling rogue [thief]
Blank, a warforged eldritch knight fighter [of mysterious origin, name comes from him saying “entry blank” when we asked what his name was]
“Nova” Novella Dante, a half orc sorcerer [dragon soul, gold]
We also have Clove, a high (moon) elf druid [circle of the moon] who was kidnapped :’) but will probs be returning soon bc her player, who is currently playing nova, misses her a Lot and kinda gave her away impulsively.
PARTY 2 [still unnamed, depite the campaign running for almost a year now. Playing Storm King’s Thunder,, but with plenty of added stuff], currently composed of:
Luka Oarback Um’Qatha, a goliath explorer [homebrew class bay-bee; he’s the survivalist subclass, which has some ranger-y flavour to it]
“Gnat” Nathan Gruffson, a [kinda babboon-esque] goblin druid [circle of the shepherd]
Teddy Greenbottle, a lightfoot halfling sorcerer [cloud giant soul]
Lightstick Octopodes, a chicken-obsessed high elf barbarian who was raised by orcs [is a homebrewed caster subclass that i cant remember the name of :’v]
Hector West, a (???race unknown) warlock of Sseth [homebrewed pact; he’s nicknamed “snektor” as we suspect he’s a yuan-ti but his yuan-ti traits might be bc of his pact??? we have No Clue.]
We also had another guy, a tiefling invoker [homebrew class] named Hektor Greyfell,,, but he just got petrified into a jade statue and whisked away to some demon lord’s collection so!! yeah :’) his player’s going to be rejoining as a dragonborn forge cleric i think

“Bug” Birgitta Cobblersen, a (3! year! old!) goblin warlock of Y’dizel [great old one ;0 Y’dizel, or “mr fizzy” is the monster under her bed/her imaginary friend]
Qassiel, a cambion accursed [homebrew class based on the 7 deadly sins- her subclass is wrath]
Meri Calypso, a mermaid cleric of Trishina the Joyswimmer [tempest domain]
–and my dad’s just playing Shiro from voltron :’p who is an oath of devotion paladin that rides around on his summoned steed, who is a giant black lion.

32. Most memorable NPC you’ve encountered in a game you played in.
i think my favourite NPC/the most memorable would have to be Scrungus;; who lives up to his name in every way possible. He’s a shopkeep that lives in this giant junkheap who is effectively just the scrungus meme;; he looks like a humanoid version of This.
stinky, grungy, scrungy shopkeep who weilds a stanley knife as a weapon that can stretch out to sephiroth type lengths and Beyond. He sells such goods as “eeling potions” [throw it on the ground to make some giant eels appear], “bullet sweaters” [it sweats bullets], “frying carpet” [a flying carpet that heats up the longer you fly on it until it eventually is just On Fire], scrungus fungus [which grafts onto your body and gives you a chance of doing wildmagic– my goblin urchin’s pet vole has one on her head now and, among other things, has accidentally set of chain lightning with it that nearly killed my familiar],,, there’s so much more but essentially? he’s a wild ride and Im Love Him.
There are so many other great NPC’s in all the campaigns im in tho, especially shop keeps and some of the villains we get pit up against.
