The more I learn about judaism the more I wonder where tf christianity got all its bad shit. Why is divorce a sin in christianity when judaism has recognized the right to divorce for nearly a millennia and has codified religious laws for it. Why does christianity consider sex to be dirty (to the point where puritans considered it a sin to enjoy having sex with your own spouse) when in judaism it's considered holy and it's a literal mitzvah to have sex with your spouse on the sabbath. Why does christianity consider it a sign that you're faithless if you question your religion when in judaism that's considered an essential part to developing your faith. I'm probably stating the obvious here but I still can't get over the fact that there's no historical basis to any of this shit before christianity started, it's like christians just said "hey guys what if we took the torah and built a new religion around it but this time it was actively hostile to human life"

#rambling #disclaimer this isnt about individual christians im speaking about the religious trauma i experienced in my own life etc etc #these are just a few examples that I've noticed but they're definitely something #the part about sex in particular shocked me bc sex is pretty much viewed as actively evil in a lot of christian denominations #like you should only do it to create children and if you take pleasure in it (even if its with your own spouse) youre a dirty sinner #there arent as many examples like this nowadays but if you read puritan laws about sex it's like #you're allowed to have sex with your wife basically 10 times a year but you have to be fully clothed with the lights off #and you cant have sex on a holiday or a sunday and you cant touch each other and you have to try as hard as possible to hate it #literally WHERE did that mindset come from?? like for real #in judaism having sex with your spouse is basically considered a celebration of everything holy #and if you have sex on the sabbath (the holiest day in the jewish calendar—above every holiday)#its considered TWICE as holy #make it make sense #this is one of the things people mean when they say that lumping judaism in with christianity as 'abrahamic' religions is meaningless #theyre literally nothing alike #the only similarity is the torah but thats only half of the christian bible and one third of the jewish one #AND christianity interprets most of it completely differently from how judaism does #im tired #greatest hits #hall of fame

Honestly, Danny is having such a good time right now. He gets to travel with Ellie, explore space, just have fun. Plus his secondary protector-instincts are having soothed despite him not technically doing any hero-ing anymore. Really his sister had the right idea when she decided she wanted to become a doctor, this is honestly a blast.

And if someone does end up passing away, well, Ellie is always happy to help soothe their spirit and guide them to the Realms where they can reach their respective afterlife. Or become a ghost.

They are completely oblivious to the fact that there are now legends and entire temples dedicated to them now. Apparently accidental ascension is in fact a thing, as Dan later laughs at them about.

How they both have to maintain distance from others bc of their positions as captain & vulcan #I hate when people dismiss Tuvok as not being remotely interested in Maryana or Noss - it erases an interesting struggle that he and Janewa #both share - their desire to stay loyal to their spouses vs the 70 years of loneliness that that loyalty demands of them #But they BOTH triumph and they BOTH remain loyal (Tuvok until he returns to T'Pel and Janeway until Mark informs her that it's over)#and for both of them it's a little bit insane for them to do that.#Isn't it more interesting that Janeway and Tuvok both have feelings for people other than their spouses but don't give in #to that temptation?#They're both people who live very fastidiously by codes. Either written codes or moral codes - they very rarely if ever do things because #it's what THEY want to do. I'd say they're the least emotion-driven members of the crew and yes I'm including Seven because Seven #has a very...how to describe? It's a blunt and insular selfishness. She does what SHE wants to do and doesn't really care about others.#To me that's emotion-driven. Or...personal desire-driven? Not a bad thing at all but very different from Janeway & Tuvok who #are always more 'this is logical' or 'this is for the crew' rarely do they think 'this is what I want' bc they can't afford to #for different reasons (captain & vulcan)#they both also are in the most 'caretaking' positions on the ship from my POV. Love (cannot emphasis how much sarcasm there is in that word) that an official Canadian government response to high cellphone rates is to switch carriers.

Switch it to what? We basically have three companies since one was allowed to eat the forth (with the government saying it wasn't anti-competition and the company eating the other pinky promising they wouldn't jack rates up). Even the smaller companies have to rent infrastructure from the Big Three so there's only so much they can do if that rent costs an arm and a leg.

And that's not touching on how many "small companies" are actually just subsidiaries of the Big Three. You may save $5 but you're still with Telus/Rogers/Bell.

Or that the actual small companies tend to have shit coverage because they don't have the infrastructure available to them and are prevented from getting it. Or their traffic is throttled in favour of the Big Three's customers. Or both.

Or that they're extremely regional thus aren't an option for a huge chunk of Canada's population.

We have no true options and the government has shown time and again that they're fine with monopolies, in multiple industries, and don't care when said monopolies jack up prices to make shareholders and the c-suite more money at the expense of everyone else. At most there will be a verbal slap on the wrist and a giftcard for $25 that people have to register for, for a decade and a half of price gouging.

It's not talked a whole lot about outside the country from what I've seen and heard but Canada is a country of monopolies. A handful of companies own nearly everything, every province has a family or two that owns a hell of a lot (Nova Scotia is basically owned by one family at this point), and our government ignores it. Even the branch that is supposed to be against monopolies is fine with mergers and takeovers in most cases.

Because, you know, the company said it totally wouldn't use consumers' lack of options to increase prices.

#canada #so much of our infrastructure and critical construction such as housing #has been pawned off for decades to private companies #and i forgot to mention one (1) family owns the bridge that is a major international corridor between canada and the us #which is apparently fine even though they fought tooth and nail to stop a bridge they don't own from being built #like our housing crisis can be traced back to the government deciding to stop building public housing in the 90s #because they figured private developers would pick up the slack #affordable apartments don't bring in much money so we got decades of cheap-ass 'luxury condos' instead #and once airbnb became a thing we got entire buildings with units <300sqft #and of course when the party in charge rotates between conservatives and neolibs nothing changes and that can gets kicked down the road #and keeps getting kicked until something collapses and they see the chance to fully privatize an industry #something similar is happening to our healthcare system too #it has been left to languish for years/decades with funding freezes and cuts #and private companies are quick to jump in and get the government stamp of approval to do [thing] that the public system clearly can't do #when [thing] would absolutely be possible if it was actually funded and/or staffed #so many communities were cut off when greyhound closed up shop because there's no government inter-city transportation #we lost internet/banking/cell service/etc nation-wide because one of the big three decided to push an update to live without redundancies #and it bugged and took the entire company's network down #even the government agency that demands major companies have a backup on a different network was taken down because they ignored that #and they got a deal if they kept their backup with rogers while their main network was also rogers #so they couldn't even make an emergency statement or anything about it #half my province also lost all digital infrastructure because it's a private company and making a redundancy line would mean smaller bonuse #it's just so bad #joke all you want about how canada is nice and friendly #but you are wrong and it's hell if you actually live here #the only reason canada is seen as nice is because it's hard to not seem like the better option when the us is your neighbour #and because of decades of pr work to make canada seem friendly and nice and not at all problematic #in some countries you actually have to try to hide you're canadian because of how much we colonize and the damage we do to other countries #yes these tags have derailed from the post but ugh #i take major issue with people who insist canada is nice and has never done anything wrong

#ive talked a lot about helmets lately oops #i guess i just rly have an obsession with how they're an extension of the driver #and a representation of them and their only sense of personality and individuality when theyre all geared up #so theres something to me about the separation of helmet from driver like in these pics #of course theres pics of the helmet on its own for model kinda pics(like all the pics i used for my past project posts)#but this is its own genre. helmet doing its own thing. helmet away from the vicinity of its owner #helmet being protected from the elements. it has its own carrying bag. it gets an umbrella. etc etc #the first pic made me on the lookout for pics w a similar vibe. I love how the AFTG fandom has been expanded upon so far from the Canon content; I don’t mean just overwriting potentially questionable canon choices but also creating its own content surrounding the USC Trojans, Pro-teams etc, like Laila and Alvarez were created in response to the first fanfiction written about TFC being about the Trojans and two original female characters a fan wrote about, It’s so interesting to read about when someone creates fan fiction surrounding topics that weren’t even touched upon in canon, or the fact that the majority of us, despite not being mentioned, come to the same conclusions and head canons regarding certain characters, like we’ve all universally agreed that Matt and Dan aren’t white, Allison is tall, or Jeremy is tanned etc

i should have never dated an iranian person like i told myself i would never do it bc it would be too much intensity all in one place and i was RIGHT now that i've experienced it (smn who can engage in poetry in a similar way, talk in the same language, making all the cultural stuff gay and hot, etc) i feel like without those aspects things will just be missing Something like from now on . idk . let's drink black tea w saffron and then make out . i've never celebrated the solar new year or leapt over a fire the wednesday before or read romantic hafez poetry w someone who loves me romantically and now i crave it . so much

I wonder if Dot will take more of a researcher route in her future. From the beginning, she's always been interested in mysteries and now made the choice to be more active to chase them with Liko and Roy. She also accumulated lots of knowledge since she is able to identify Pokemon moves without being told what they are for example (she knew what move Kuwassu learned in HZ041 just by watching it). She also looked up Friede's research papers and probably read them as well and expressed admiration for his work too.

In this episode, she specifically expressed curiosity when the topic of professors researching Terastal energy came up. Which makes her very similar to Spinel in a way, since the latter was also intrigued by Liko's pendant looking like the crystal of a Terastal Orb back in HZ015 (and Spinel is a researcher as well).

A Song of Ice & Fire AU idea: Jon is the only boy Stark of his generation. Ned & Cat have five daughters.

Robert "steamroller" Baratheon arrives in Winterfell to demand Ned be his new Hand and to engage his eldest son to Ned's eldest daughter. When Ned points out Robb is Ned's heir apparent and future Lady Paramount of the North, and therefore can't marry Joffrey and be Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, Robert just goes "Well I'm sure that son of yours will be excellent as Lord Paramount, seeing as how you raised him Ned!" and promptly legitimizes Jon.

Catelyn is furious about this, right up until Robb quietly goes "Aw, but I wanted to marry Theon," at which point Catelyn is still furious but also 100% onboard with the Robb-Joffrey betrothal.

Bran still gets pushed out a window. But now Arya & Rickon are both there with him after Catelyn leaves.

Sansa still goes to King's Landing, but this time it's as her older sister's companion. Gray Wind and Lady probably survive the journey? But I'm not sure if they'd be allowed in the city let alone the Red Keep, they might have to go hang out in the King's Woods.

Jon is obviously not at the Wall now. The weeks between "King Robert & Ned & company leave Winterfell" and "Catelyn leaves because of the knife" are TENSE AS HELL.

I am honestly not sure how the war goes. Baelish is still up to all his machinations. Sansa has been treated differently because she's not the Presumed Future Princess so she wouldn't go to Cersei when Ned orders her to pack, and I can't imagine Robb doing so, but Ned tipped his hand to Cersei all on his own so that probably doesn't make a difference. The presence or absence of direwolves might.

Jon obviously wants to avenge his dad and rescue his sisters, and Catelyn wants that too, but she is nooot down with him being King in the North and he doesn't trust her to give good counsel (though he still yearns for her approval) so that whole plot is ripe for disaster.

#I left all the kids' names the same for clarity #in an actual full fic their longforms would be a bit different though they might manage to keep the nicknames #what Theon is up to depends on how close Jon's decisions are regarding him to Robb's canon ones #and what Theon gets up to affects how shit goes down at Winterfell #etc etc #fic ideas #A Song of Ice and Fire #Sansa might have been spending more time with Myrcella while Robb was suffering Joffrey's company #Jeyne Poole or a slightly older girl of similar position would still go #rather than Arya because Ned is not taking more than two of his kids south at a time #oh shit Jon 'I never want to sire a bastard' Stark is not gonna have the Jeyne Westerling arc that Robb did #what does THAT change #do either Robb or Sansa make it out of King's Landing or are they both hostages #if Robb is a hostage she is going to make the Lannisters REGRET
