These headcanons are actually so random but they are fun so
Bendy first language isn't English, it's actually latin. He has NO idea how he learned it, he just knows it. and whenever he hears a demon speak it he gets super excited because FINALLY someone who speaks the same language as him, well, other than English.
THOUGH, since he can speak Latin like every demon he..feels appreciated because of it. Because every demon just always says that they finally have something in common and actually sounds like a demon, just because of him knowing latin.
sometimes, whenever he remembers Felix's talent, he tries to communicate with the cat in latin, but all he gets is gasps and confused looks.
But the cat himself? Looks at the demon like he just said he found the biggest secret ever, but then he replies!!
Now everyone just grew used to it. Well- Boris, Holly and Felix. The rest just keep forgetting.
He swears holly keeps making him translate phrases in Latin like he's a translator...he doesn't mind though, it's fun. Better than being stuck in a room struggling to read a book in a language he doesn't understand too well.
Not me who keeps rambling in the tags

the fact that in the first moving poster, we have Penelope angry and upset at Colin, closed off, pulling into herself, and he is yearning for her and confused, just wanting to reach out and touch her and knowing he can't do so because of the walls between them, so he grabs his own wrist, and he holds back, and they're both more on edge for it
and in the second, we have him breaking that barrier to gently trace along the edge of her neckline, softly whispering over her skin, and she reaches up to hold him in place, as though to say 'stay, don't pull away', melting into him as he leans into her, and he even lifts his fingers to wrap around hers as she holds on because the distance they had wasn't serving either of them positively. almost as if, only when they're together, anchored into one another, can they fully open up
one might even say they
unfurl
like a flower in bloom

Actually interesting tidbit re: your languages comic! In game it’s implied that Kazuichi can speak/read English bc he reads a sign in English to Hajime! Although I always kind of just imagined he picked it up from watching TV/Movies and isn’t super fluent
Yeah lots of ppl pointed that out and admittedly I plain forgot. But i do think it makes sense that he taught himself through manuals and the internet, so he's better at reading it than most, but when it comes to listening to (the hurried, limp, molasses-like American) English that's where he fumbles. Seeing the words makes sense, hearing eybuddyowyadowein is another. Also being HoH post-game doesnt help.

Tamaas (eventually Tamara)
Addressed as: Madam* (she/her)
Age: 23
Height: 5’0”
Occupation:
Main Skills: Shadowy, Watchful
Prominent Quirks: Melancholy
Closest to: The Urchins
*it's a form of address that feels strange compared to its Varchaasi equivalent, but she no longer has any claim to that title.
Backstory below the cut:
She never questioned her life, much like she never questioned her love for Mihir and her native Varchas. One rarely has to when all is well and life is easy.
She doesn’t understand why her brother did not share this contentedness. Fraternal twins, they were ever-close, sharing everything, but his interest in the Jewel-Turbaned Youth and his fanciful club was something that she simply could not get her mind around. The rest of the family paid it no mind—they’re harmless anyway. Let him have his fun.
She doesn’t know what it was that stopped her from retiring to bed that one fateful evening, a nagging in the back of her head that something was off. When she stepped back out into the yellow evening lamplight, a familiar shape slipping down the streets confirmed her intuition. Her brother made it as far as the Mirrored Gate before she clamped her hand around his wrist. Was he mirror-mad? What could he possibly be thinking? Who would want to leave the light, and to set sail on a steamer with a Tamaas captain he’d only met that morning? She’d argued with him, begging him to see sense, until they were both shouting. Deep in their quarrel, she’d barely noticed the shape in the mirror pressed up against his back until it was too late. It struck and he screamed, jerking to the side. Hand still latched around his arm, she slipped in turn, down the slope beyond the gate and both of their lives ended in an instant.
She’d later piece together what had happened from The Sympathetic Captain, most of her memories a blur, and Mihir knows, she’d had enough time on that ship to play her retelling back in her head in endless combinations. Before her brother had even met the ground, before his head had hit stone and his heart had stopped beating, he was Tamaas. As was she, not a fraction of a second later. The Captain had heard the commotion and was not far from the bottom of the cliff. She had insisted that the Captain take them both, that no one in the city would help them anymore. She had to get him to the next port where he could recover.
How his body had disappeared a day later, on a ship miles from the coast, was not one the Captain could answer, no matter how much she raged, how many objects in the cabin she smashed in her fugue. The Captain could only offer a sympathetic ear and a cup of tea.
When the ship finally docked in London she disappeared into the darkness, too ashamed of her grief to say goodbye. Her life was over, but somehow she would have to keep living, Tamaas or otherwise.

I love love love that the ccs will be forced to use the translator in order to communicate with the new ccs joining qsmp because that’s what it’s there for!!!!! it’s a translator!!! use it to translate, even if both of you are able to speak the same language!
I don’t see enough people use the translator, especially when the ccs are both able to speak (usually) english, and it’s still great that they can speak easier if they speak the same language, but the language barrier is one of the causes for the creation of the qsmp! Let the language barrier be a barrier in the first place, and let the translator do the work it was meant to do!
Let people who physically can’t speak the same language interact! It’s part of what makes qsmp qsmp, and even though it has impacted hugely just from adding people who generally create content and talk in different languages, I do think it somewhat lacks in the people speaking different languages category, because while that is true, it is also somewhat untrue in that all of the ccs can speak one of the same language (usually english), even if they’re not a natural at it!
Now, that’s not a bad thing at all! But, it does blur the speaking different languages problem that was meant to occur in qsmp. They speak different languages! Let them speak whatever language they want and let the translator do the work! Again, that is what it is there for! It is a translator! (I’m looking at you twitter)
And even if it takes a million repeats of the same sentence for someone to finally get what another person is trying to say, a hundred fuck-ups of the translation or a thousand language barrier/cultural miscommunications, again, qsmp was made for this to happen! It was made so people who come from different backgrounds and are usually unable to interact because of cultural/language barriers can interact, whether it start out negative or positive!
And I trust them (the ccs and fans) to communicate if controversy/confusion happens culturally and language-wise, and (hopefully) for the fans to not turn anything minor** into a huge drama, so I am extremely excited to see the ccs be forced into using the translator!

Being second generation half Russian in Canada is like a weird purgatory bc of course i reap all the benefit of white privilege and pass as just another white Canadian mf yet ppl still treat your country of origin as some crazy foreign boogeyman and regurgitate insane propaganda, but if your parents retained their communist moral compass (75% of them turned into materialistic consoomers the moment the country opened up) you also just feel this immense cognitive disconnect from the west and Canadian ideology. It's like an identity in here ...

hmm thinking about the idea of love songs. i think the idea of what a love song is that we have in our culture is inherently a little bit flawed because we have the idea that any song written about romantic feelings is a love song and im thinking thats not exactly true because there is a difference between "romance" and "love". what i'm saying is not that love is a broader category and applies to things that are not romantic in nature. this is in fact true, but it's not what makes the important distinction here. the true distinction between "romance" and "love" is that romance is a societally defined type of interest in another person, whereas love is, essentially, a promise that you make when you build a relationship.
as such, what i call "love" here might be better defined as "care", as that implies more time and effort, but that's a different suitcase to unpack and largely unimportant to my point here, which is more about the societal conventions of what we call love songs. the point is, relationships can be built with other people, yes, but also animals, places, organizations, ideas, so on and so on, whereas romance requires another person, hence the difference between the ideas of "romance" and "love".
with that in mind, there are two types of songs we in western, english speaking, society call "love songs":
1) songs that are about a person's romantic interest in someone that is either definitively known to be unrequited (existing monogamous relationship, sexuality that doesn't align, etc) or simply not requited (aka romantic interest being unknown); and
2) songs about an existing relationship (keeping in mind my points about relationships not just being with people, but also places, things, etcetera) as is.
(some examples of the latter category: mountaintop by relient k, which defines the relationship in question as non-romantic; or i miss my mum by cavetown, which is - as the title implies - a song about the singer missing their mother.)
now, the thing that makes distinguishing these two difficult is the fact that songs about an existing relationship CAN be about wanting certain aspects of that relationship to change. in these cases, determining that a song is one or the other will hinge either on a) authorial intent or b) whether the song is more about what the singer wants (thereby implying #1) or the lack thereof in that relationship (which would imply #2).
to get back to the subject at hand: the term "love song", as we think of it, is an umbrella term that include both of these two categories, and i think that perhaps it is reductive to do so. with that in mind, i think perhaps it would be more appropriate for "love song" to mean only the latter, whereas the former is a category of its own. WHICH is not to say that the two can't overlap — just that if a song is about a person with whom the singer has no relationship, it cannot be considered a love song due to the fact that it is a song about infatuation, not love.
(another interesting wrinkle this provides is the fact that a song might start out in the first category and, as the writer develops a relationship with a person, might move into the second category as they write more.)

@eternalglitch I AM INTRODUCING LFLS INTO A NICHE AND POSSIBLY UNSTABLE ECOSYSTEM
so there's this website that's called "Pixilart" and it's actually kinda like tumblr a little bit, but it's much more art based and focused on pixel art specifically. It's a lot of fandom stuff, not really a lot of tmnt. A niche sector of the fandom. Not a single piece of lfls art on there smh. So I fixed that :)
I was thinking about that part in lfls where. It's. The. Second. Time. Donnie. CHNAGED THE WAY LEO COMMUNICATED WITH THE WORLD AND - hands neck hands neck hands neck up contrast. 1=Neck the first time. 2=hands the second time. SECOND TIMES THE CHARM. I seem to go a little insane when the emotions get to me that's interesting. Then I start analyzing my own response and things around me. SECOND TIMES THE CHARM. LEO BLAMES DONNIE FOR THE SHOCK COLLAR. CRYING SOBBING SMILING GRINNING LAUGHING SOBBING SOAMING ON THE WALLS GIGGLING.

Okay overall, this draft is actually in a great place (though I'm getting into the chapters that need more edits so we'll see how I feel about it in another 80 pages) but I do sometimes laugh at the shit I flag for changes. I had to make a note to alter how I introduce a couple of pieces of information because I was sitting there like, I don't actually think this character would know this in this manner, it's just the most convenient way for it to be explained. But to change it I'd have to rewrite a whole page, and maybe four readers would notice that this is purely expository, and is that really worth it?
But unfortunately, I am one of those readers. So I gotta change it.

I feel like a fucking idiot.
I'm part chinese, I know the vaguest amount of chinese, I've even taken mandarin classes throughout my life...
Yet somehow, somehow, I failed to realize that PM (may have) made a double-meaning joke with the 'hong' in Hong Lu's name meaning 'red'
