london/manchester adventures: part 1
Vague spoilers below for anyone who hasn't seen Octopolis.
A few weeks ago I went to see Octopolis and Great Expectations with the Berena group of @batnbreakfast @ktlsyrtis @elphiessolsikke @iordio @starfleetwitch @ariverandasong and @akaanonymouth.
I have a lot of feelings/thoughts! For the sake of brevity I'm going to try to keep the focus narrow.
octopolis
Anyone who's not able to see the production, I highly recommend buying a copy of the script online if you can. It's very beautiful and strange, and I think it's a satisfying read if you want to get a sense of some of the funnier and more vulnerable moments, and imagine Jemma in those moments.
I saw the play three times in total (twice on Thursday and once on Friday night), and each performance was very different. Because the show is a two-hander and both actors do such an amazing job listening to each other and taking in each other's (and the audience's) energy, there's a lot of variable space for the mood/vibes to shift between performances.
The Thursday matinee got lots of laughs in the first half and then felt really sad at the end. The evening show got almost no laughs at the beginning and felt sort of tense? In a way that I don't think was intentional, but made for an interesting experience watching it. Also the director, Ed Madden, was at that performance - my eyes kept flicking over toward his area of the audience to try to gauge how he was reacting.
Friday was definitely my favorite performance of the three. Ewan Miller's comic timing is pretty great in general, but in this production it was perfect - and everything he said felt very honest and vulnerable, not like a punchline. And the chemistry between both actors was definitely at its best in this version. I will say that I found the chemistry to be a bit unsatisfying in general - they have a lot of fun together, but I never quite believed that either one had fallen for the other, so it didn't quite click for me as a romantic chemistry. But thinking of the two as curious and vulnerable friends and intellectual partners, I definitely found that chemistry to be most palpable in the Friday show.
Additionally, Jemma hit a different level of anger in the Friday show, which I loved. I think the ending of the play really depends on the sense that her character feels incredibly betrayed, and on Friday, I could really feel the depth of that betrayal in her reaction to it.
And if I'm not misremembering, the final dance between the characters was a little different in that version - not the choreography itself, but how they initiated physical contact at the start of it. It had a bit more of a loving/vulnerable quality, which was very sweet and sad.
Oh, also: Jemma snort laughed the most times in the Friday performance. Very important data.
My favorite difference between the three was the bows at the end of the Friday night performance - Jemma and Ewan did a little cute shoulder bump during each bow, like they were happy about how well it went and what they'd created together this time around.
It was really lovely being able to see the show with friends the third time around, and to spend time talking about bits of the production that broke our brains, and parts where her intonation was similar to a specific Bernie moment, etc. It was also great being able to chat with Jemma after the performance - I'm not good at writing about that sort of thing so I'm going to refrain, but @ktlsyrtis's post covers it pretty nicely.

Y/N walks to the counter with Daisy and Jemma. Her head has started to feel fuzzy and her thoughts are going all over the place, but she tries to shake it off and ignore it. She stops when Daisy and Jemma do, almost bumping into them.
“Once we get inside, we’ll separate and search, and if he’s not here…”
“He better be dead.” Jemma comments, completely serious.
“What?” Daisy whispers.
“Better dead than in the brothels.”
Y/N nods at the sound logic. She turns to Daisy. “I agree.” She mumbles. “You better die before going to the brothel.”
Daisy scrunches her brows. “I’m not going to the brothel.”
“Right on.” She pokes her shoulder. Y/N chuckles quietly, making the other two laugh quietly as well.
They walk over to the counter. “Welcome to the House of Games.” A person in front of them greets. Y/N leans her head to the side, staring at the person, they don’t look entirely human. “Please check your weapons and moral high ground.” Her eyes widen the more the greeter talks. The speech is starting to get slow and distorted. “Robots, droids, mechs, cyborgs, and synths are strictly prohibited. Violators will be removed and executed.”
“Wow.” Y/N whispers, nodding along, though she feels like she doesn’t understand half of what is being said. They walk to the counter where Jemma gives her weapons away to the guard. Daisy and Y/N don’t carry weapons on them, as they have their powers.
“Are you two feeling okay?” Daisy asks quietly.
“Are you?” Jemma asks back.
“I asked you first.”
“I asked you second.”
“I didn’t ask.” Y/N mumbles, wanting to be part of the conversation.
Daisy raises her brows. “On three. One, two, three…”
“I’m tripping balls. I’m tripping balls.” “I’m not okay at all.” Daisy and Jemma say at the same time.
Y/N starts giggling, trying to muffle it with the back of her hand. “So am I.” She prolongs the last word. “I’m sooo high right now.”
“Oh, we seem to be experiencing some kind of adverse reaction to something.” Jemma sniffs the air, which makes Y/N snort, as she somehow finds everything funny. “Perhaps the atmosphere.”
“Maybe sending Davis back to the Zephyr was a bad idea.”
“No. I’m sure this is just temporary.” Jemma assures. “Our bodies will adjust.”
“I’m not sure I want to, this feels funny.” Y/N leans her head on Daisy’s shoulder, dropping it when Daisy starts to move.
With a grumble, Y/N goes to stand in front of the hallway inside.
“Welcome.”
They start walking through the hallway, going through a scanner. Y/N gasps as all the rainbow lights start dancing around her. She lifts her hand up, trying to touch them.
“So pretty.” Jemma smiles beside her.
Y/N lets out an airy laugh. The trio walk through the hallway with their heads leaning back to look at the lights and bumping unto each other as their coordination isn’t the best.
When the group gets to the stairs, they haven’t gotten any better. All three of them are slowly ascending the stairs while crouching and holding onto the railings so they wouldn’t fall. Y/N is behind the two, practically sliding down the stairs.
“I’m just gonna say it. I don’t think it’s the atmosphere.” Daisy mumbles, her words slurring slightly.
“No. That was silly.”
“Yeah.”
“Silly scientist.” Y/N mumbles with a giggle.
Jemma’s eyes are half closed as she comes up with a more possible explanation. “It’s clearly p-psychopharmacological epxpisli-docious.”
“Docious!” They all yell and laugh. “Oh, I think it was the things, the little puffies we ate.” Daisy realizes.
“Bad little puffies.”
“You ate two of them!” Daisy laughs, turning to look at her girlfriend.
Y/N giggles. “They were so so good!” Her head nods down, but lifts it quickly. “But Davis, he ate like six of ‘em.”
They all laugh, stopping momentarily to lean against each other. “Oh, I hope he’s okay.” Daisy mumbles.
They continue ascending the stairs. Y/N slips, but gets her footing back quickly. Daisy puts one of her hands behind her back so Y/N can hold it.
They make their way to the bar, very slowly, and finally they reach it. Pulling themselves up to the chairs, they all smile, looking at each other. The bartender puts drinks in front of them.
“We made it.” Daisy smiles, leaning the side of her head against the table.
“Yes, we did.” Jemma lifts up her head. They high five each other, almost falling off of their chairs in the process. “Why are we here?”
Y/N shrugs, drinking her cocktail.
“Because we’re on a mission.” Daisy answers with a grin.
“Right.” Jemma nods. “What is the mission?”
“The mission is…” Daisy and Y/N glance at each other with smirks. “Ladies’ night!” They yell at the same time.
“Yeah! Ay-ay-ay-ay!” They all celebrate.
“Woo!” Y/N lifts up her hands, waving them around in the air. “Party, party, party.” She chants, downing the rest of her drink like a shot. “Can I have another one?”
“Do you remember when we first met?” Daisy looks at Jemma.
Jemma’s head is propped up against her palm. “Yeah. You lived in a van.” Daisy hums. “And it really smelled.”
Y/N starts laughing. “Oh, I really wanted to see the van. And smell.” She smirks at Daisy.
“It didn’t smell.” Daisy pushes Y/N’s arm.
“Yeah.” Jemma nods, laughing at Daisy’s shocked and annoyed face. “We called it the Fartmobile.” Once again, they all laugh. “You had..you had big hair.” She comments.
“You had big…nerd face.” Daisy tries to bite back, though it doesn’t really land. Still she continues, raising her brows. “Do you- what house are you in, hmm? Gryffindor?”
“Uh, Ravenclaw. Girl, please.” Jemma scoffs.
“Show us some spells!” Y/N shouts.
Jemma grabs the straw from her drink, making Daisy gasp and Y/N look at her intently. “Expecto Patronum!” She waves the waves the straw around. Gasping, she stares at the end of it. “Hello, little monkey Fitz.”
Daisy turns to Y/N when Jemma starts talking to her hallucination. “You’re really pretty.” She mumbles with a smile. “I’m so glad you’re mine.”
Y/N rolls her eyes with a shake of her head. “Stop it.”
With a laugh, Daisy turns back to Jemma when Y/N starts talking to the bartender so she could get a third drink. “This might sound so weird, but I feel such a strong connection to you, like we’re both different parts of the same cosmic being.” Her words come out slowly as she goes to put her hand on Jemma’s head. “Do you feel it?” Turning to face her, instead of seeing Jemma, there’s an unknown man there.
“I can feel it.” He smirks. “Your ship or mine?”
“I- I have a girlfriend.” Grabbing Y/N’s arm, Daisy pulls her away from the bar. Y/N whines, staring at her non finished drink standing on the bar top, all alone. “Where’s Jemma?”
“Huh?” Y/N’s side bumps into Daisy’s.
Daisy stays quiet, scanning over the bar. She has a very focused look on her face as she tries to maneuver through the people while still holding onto Y/N.
The stop in front of a game table. “Don’t worry everybody. We got this.” She slurs out. The players glance at her, not really caring. Crouching, Daisy and Y/N get under the table, finding Jemma laying there. “Oh.” She feels the soft carpet.
“Hey, I think my parents are mice.” Jemma says out of nowhere.
Daisy nods. “That makes sense.”
They go to sit up. Y/N groans when her head hits the underside of the table. “I’m sorry for dragging you all across the universe.” Jemma apologizes.
“Oh, no, don’t be. It’s good. It’s only made us closer.”
“I just miss Fitz so much.”
“Aw, yeah, I’m sorry.”
Y/N pats Jemma’s leg, though it feels more like slapping. “We’ll find Fitz.” Jemma nods, patting Y/N’s arm in return.
Getting sad, Daisy pulls Y/N closer, so she’s almost laying on her. She wraps her arms around her neck, squeezing her, making Y/N cough. “I’m so glad you’re my Fitz, well, not Fitz, but you know.”
“You’re choking me.” Y/N mumbles, but fully leans into Daisy’s touch.
Daisy giggles. “It’s not the first time.”
Jemma awes at them. “I just love that you two found each other. Daisy, you are so strong no and so confident. And much happier.” She puts her hands on Daisy’s cheeks. “I’m so proud of you.” She cries.
“Really?” Daisy sets one of her hands on Jemma’s cheek, the other still wrapped around Y/N’s neck. “It means so much coming from you.”
“I just love you so much. You’re my best friend.”
“I love you too.” Daisy starts crying as well.
Caressing Daisy’s skin, Jemma’s voice breaks. “Your skin is so soft.”
“I know.”
Then Jemma turns to Y/N, holding and squeezing her cheeks. “And I’m so glad I met you. You’re my best friend too.” Tears are streaming down all of their cheeks. “I’m so glad you decided to join Shield, even though it was really sad what happened to the After Life.”
Y/N nods, her lower lip jutting out from the pressure of Jemma’s hands pressing on her cheeks.
Suddenly a high pitched noise rings in their ears. “Shh.” Daisy presses her fingers to Y/N and Jemma’s lips.
“What is it?” Jemma whispers, the crying all forgotten.
Daisy shushes her. The high pitched tone comes again. “Do you hear that?” The sound comes and goes, sometimes they hear one whistle, sometimes two.
“I mean, it sounds almost like a dolphin.”
Y/N gasps. “Are there dolphins in here?” Suddenly the noise becomes louder and constant. Groaning, Y/N presses her hands against her ears to muffle it.
“I’m never eating alien food again.” Daisy grumbles.
“No, but is it possible to share auditory hallucinations? I think this is something different.”
“Well-“ Daisy scoffs, sticking her head from under the table, jostling Y/N in the process, before coming back in. “And why does nobody else seem bothered by it?”
“Maybe it’s only perceptible to humans.”
“Like a secret signal.”
That makes them all more alert, except Y/N, who keeps tapping her palms on her ears to make the sound distorted. “Fitz.” Jemma and Daisy hurry to stand up, forgetting they’re under the table and hitting their heads on it. “Ow.”
Y/N giggles. “Idiots.” She goes to sit up, but hits her head on the table, for the second time. “Oh.” She rubs her head.
When the noice stops completely, they crawl from under the table hastily. “Excuse me.” Jemma grunts as Daisy uses the table to hoist herself up. Y/N takes hold of Daisy to pull herself into a standing position.
They turn to the entrance. Chronicoms with big guns are walking in. “Oh, man.” Daisy turns Y/N and Jemma so their backs are against the entrance. “Do those guys look like the guy that we have tied up on the Zephyr?”
“I see them too, which means they’re very real and they’re here for Fitz.”
“They’ll have to get by me first.” Daisy extends her hand and uses her powers, but it hits a panel instead of the enemy. “That was way off.”
One if the Chronicoms shoot towards them. “Hey! I got him.” Jemma takes hold of Daisy’s arm and points it towards the shooter. “Fire!” It gets knocked down by Daisy’s powers.
“Okay.” Daisy breaths heavily. “You go. We got it from here.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah. If I can’t quake it, I’ll break it. And Y/N can literally conjure up anything.”
“Okay.” Jemma runs away.
Daisy and Y/N stand on in front of the Chronicoms. “Sorry, boys. It’s ladies’ night.” Daisy starts fighting them, kicking and punching quite well considering her state.
Y/N holds out her hand, looking at her palm with a glare. A bag of chips appears on it out of nowhere. “Ooh! I wanted these.” She smiles, swaying on her place.
“Y/N!”
“Oh, right.” Throwing away the bag, Y/N thinks of a knife. “Yes.” She grins and starts throwing them towards the Chronicoms as fast as they continue appearing into her hands. Most of them stick into their heads or somewhere in their body, but some of them land way off.
Y/N and Daisy continue fighting them, at times stumbling on their place, but still holding their grounds. Grunting, Y/N kicks one Chronicom to the ground while stabbing another in the neck.
When she notices Daisy getting overcrowded by the Chronicoms, she conjures platforms under her feet to get over the obstacles to get to her. She jumps down on top of one of the Chronicom’s shoulders, doing a maneuver to get it to the ground.
She rolls away from him, giving Daisy space to quake its head off. “Please let that be the last of them.” She leans to a table, taking a breather.
Y/N still lays on the ground, giggling. “That was fun.”

Excerpt from Chapter 26:
Fitz shivered slightly beneath the gentle scrape of her nail over his bare skin and leaned into the touch, humming quietly. “I think it depends on what you’d boss me about,” he eventually murmured. “You’ll get quite different reactions if y’ insisted I go down on y’ versus makin’ me get up t’ clean.”
Jemma laughed. “I wouldn’t have any intention of making you get out of bed. I wanted to stay here, remember?”
“So, that should give y’ a hint t’ my reaction if y’ wanted t’ be a little bossy right now,” he replied with a lopsided grin. “I think y’ should develop a hypothesis and then test it, Dr. Simmons.”
Her smile turned downright saucy. She was going to have so much fun exploring with him.

Reveal - Ch. 11: Control
Tumblr media
Summary: Daisy has a lot to learn about her new powers, but she receives the best help there is from a distinguished guest.
Read on A03
-----------------
Between catching up on classwork and having to watch everyone else train with their new powers while she had to sit and heal, Daisy was depressed. She tried to be happy for Carol, who was learning how to use her rocket powers in a safe, fireproof room where she could train without destroying anything. On the more invisible-powers side, Jemma and Fitz had gained limited telepathic abilities to send each other mental voice memos so they mostly just stared at each other even more than they used to. Joey practiced his metal bending, Kenesha turned water to steam and ice and even a little rainstorm, and others dashed around with superspeed, built up their superstrength, or honed their gymnastics with stunning dexterity and balance. One kid could even walk up walls as long as he used his hands for stability.
She reluctantly applauded along with everyone else as the spider kid completed his first journey across the ceiling.
Jemma plopped down on Daisy’s makeshift sofa made of gym padding.     “Vibrokinesis.”
“Sorry?” Daisy turned and raised an eyebrow.
“It’s what you have. Vibrokinesis.” Jemma let the word hang in the air as a revelation.
“Are you sure it’s not lycanthropy?” Daisy asked sarcastically.
Jemma rolled her eyes. “You’re not a werewolf. No one is afraid you’re going to suddenly cause an earthquake on the night of the full moon.”
“Awooo!” Daisy howled quietly and poked Jemma with her elbow. “Certain about that?”
Jemma laughed a little.
“They are afraid of me, though. I can tell.” Daisy gestured out to the cadets.
Jemma didn’t have patience for Daisy’s dramatics when there was a new scientific discovery to convey. “Would you like to know more about your powers or just wallow?”
Daisy sat up straighter. “I’m listening.”
Before Jemma could launch into her speech, Carol trudged out of her fireproof room and collapsed next to them on the floor with a sigh. She laid her head on Daisy’s lap, and Daisy began stroking Carol’s disheveled hair out of habit.
“I’m exhausted,” Carol whined. Daisy noticed Carol’s training clothes were a little singed, but not nearly as bad as her first time practicing.
“You listen too,” Jemma instructed, tapping Carol’s shoe with her own. “I’m about to tell Daisy what I’ve deducted so far about her powers.”
Carol straightened and turned to Daisy, who was still slouched in discouragement. Carol intertwined her fingers with Daisy’s and squeezed gently before focusing on Jemma.
“Whatcha got, Simmons?” Carol asked.
“Vibrokinesis,” she said a third time, finally eliciting the desired reaction.
“Oooo, impressive!” Carol looked back at Daisy, who was still reticent to cheer up.
Daisy shrugged. “So I make stuff shake and break things, including my own bones. Any way to make it voluntary, and preferably, painless?”
Jemma sighed. “I think you’re missing the—Hold on, I have something to show you. I’ll be right back.” She stood and began walking to her lab, but then turned to further explain. “The global director of the Secret Warriors program, Dr. Jiaying Zabo, wrote about this possibility in her research. It’s so much deeper than you think. I mean, truly fascinating, beyond any physics I’ve studied, but the theories she had…”
Jemma finally noticed in her ramble that everyone in the entire gym had gone silent and was staring just behind her in awe and reverence. Jemma slowly turned and found herself face to face with the global director herself.
“Daisy Johnson?” Dr. Zabo walked up to Daisy, who snapped up to attention. “Your friend is right. Come.” She beckoned.
Unsure of this invitation or where they were going, Daisy looked to Bobbi, who only nodded that she should follow immediately. The Program’s global director outranked them all.
“You too,” Dr. Zabo gestured to Jemma and they left the gym floor for the lab. Carol tried to follow, but Bobbi called her back to discuss Carol’s progress with her powers.
Once they were in the lab, Dr. Zabo nodded to an agent Daisy recognized. On their first night being recruited into the program, Dr. Zabo had been there with her.
“Alisha Whitley,” the agent introduced herself. Jemma and Daisy introduced themselves in return.
Dr. Zabo told Agent Whitley they “wouldn’t be long” and the agent understood it as an order. She stood guard just outside the door, close enough to hear but far enough to keep an eye on anyone approaching.
“Dr. Zabo—” Jemma began after a moment of silence.
“Please, call me Jiaying.” She seemed to wince at her title and last name, unless Daisy imagined it. No ring, but a ring outline tan. Recent divorce was Daisy’s guess.
Jiaying noticed Daisy’s evaluation of her but besides a silent challenge, daring Daisy to ask, she ignored it. Instead of feeling like a spy in training, Daisy realized sheepishly upon being caught that she just felt rude. This spy stuff was going to take more practice for sure.
Jemma started again, also a little flustered, “Jiaying … ma’am … I was just telling Daisy about your work on vibrokineses, but Daisy would like to know if there is a way to control it.”
The corner of Jiaying’s lip turned up in a slight smile, letting them relax a bit. “Of course. So I take it your destruction of property was involuntary then?”
Daisy wasn’t sure if she was being tested or made fun of, but she decided a simple yes was best and tacked on a ma’am for good measure.
Jiaying thought for a moment, considering Daisy inscrutably.
“You don’t just make things shake, Cadet Johnson. You can sense and control the vibrations of everything around you.”
Daisy looked around the lab. “Vibrations of what?”
Jemma stepped in. “At an atomic level.”
Daisy nodded to pretend she understood. “And I can control … the atoms?”
Jemma clarified, “Sense the vibrations and then manipulate them. Like, causing earthquakes, for one example.”
Jiaying rushed in, “But that’s not all. Here.” She walked over to a sink and turned on the faucet. A steady stream of cool water poured out. “Feel the water without touching it.”
Daisy approached the sink, and Jiaying demonstrated, holding her hand to the side of the water. She stepped out of the way, and Daisy copied her. With both of the scientists watching, Daisy felt a bit like an experiment. She closed her eyes and breathed as her mom had her do before. If centering herself could help her stop her powers, maybe she could start them again without bringing the building down.
She felt it. Each individual drop, no, even smaller than that. She opened her eyes and moved her hand. The water followed her even as it poured down, manipulating its path at her fingertips’ instruction.
Daisy exhaled in relief. She turned to share the moment with Jemma but lost control and directed the water in her direction.
“Hey!” Jemma squealed, now wet.
“Sorry!” Daisy turned off the water reflexively and Jemma assessed the damage to her outfit. Their eyes met and they couldn’t help the giggles that overtook them.
Finally, Jiaying cleared her throat. “Good start, cadet. Your next exercise will be harder. Come.”
One by one, Daisy learned and conquered the tasks Jiaying set for her, from moving a rock across a table to shifting liquid in a bowl. That is, until they got to a row of water goblets. Daisy was familiar with the party trick, of course. She knew the glass would sing when a finger glided water along the rim. But, of course, the point of all of these exercises was that Daisy wasn’t allowed to touch the items.
They were grateful Jemma had made them put on safety glasses as each goblet shattered. Over and over.
“It’s okay, this is why we have these,” Jemma said each time, picking up a tarp that had served as a table cloth and another off the floor, carefully wrapping up the shards of glass they contained. Each time, Jiaying added more glasses on a fresh tarp as Jemma recycled the old one.
“I’m never going to get this!” Daisy finally cried out. She couldn’t rub her eyes with the safety glasses on, but she could feel the embarrassed tears starting to burn.
“You’ve made progress today. We start again tomorrow in practice room 3.” Jiaying placed an understanding hand on Daisy’s arm before leaving her and Jemma alone.
“She’s right.” Jemma leaned against the table with the fresh goblets, arms folded. “This morning, you hadn’t even used your powers on purpose. Now, look at what you can do.” She gestured to all the completed tables of exercises.
Daisy collected herself and took in her accomplishments for the day. Another realization hit.
“It didn’t hurt.”
“Hm?” Jemma began cleaning up the tables, and Daisy joined her.
“Using my powers.” Daisy looked over her shoulder at Jemma as she poured the water from the unbroken goblets into the sink. “It didn’t hurt this time. I’m ready to fight again.”
Jemma swept up a pile of dust that Daisy had earlier, with great effort, shaped into circles on another table.
“Well, that’s up to the doctor, but I’d certainly mention that to Jiaying tomorrow. Maybe she can  clear you for training.”
-------------------------
Daisy didn’t have time for fighting this week, Jiaying informed her. Once again, Daisy felt sheepish at Jiaying’s unstated correction. This opportunity to hone her powers with the global director was a huge honor for Daisy and incredibly rare for any enhanced person, especially a cadet. Daisy wondered what new high expectations Fury and the higher-ups at Shield had for her if she was receiving this kind of one-on-one instruction with Jiaying.
Occasionally, Agent Whitley would interject with urgent business from the Shield council of directors, and Daisy would be humbled that her teacher was also the leader of the entire Program around the world. Jemma too was taking advantage of the opportunity, gathering as much information from Jiaying and data from Daisy’s training as she could. Fitz was doing the same with the others as they trained, and they would compare notes in the evenings.
“Do you see different patterns to powers in different regions?” Jemma asked one day as Jiaying corrected Daisy’s posture and arm positioning.
“It’s not patterns so much as where the need is,” Jiaying explained. “Each power fulfills a need in the world, rights a balance to the energy of the universe.”
“How did you learn all of this?” Daisy asked. It felt like an intimate question, but they were in close proximity with just the three of them all week; it seemed reasonable to want to know something about her teacher so she dared to let the personal question fly and see how it landed.
Jiaying stayed silent for a moment. “From my mother, and her parents before them, for generations.”
“Your family was Shield agents that far back?” Daisy wondered if it was common to have legacy families like her own, forgetting Shield’s founding date for a moment.
“No,” Jiaying let out a surprised laugh. “Just my parents. They left the haven where our people, powered people, had lived for generations. They were scared of and saddened by what they saw in the world after the war, so much pain and so much evil. They met Agent Carter and her husband working undercover. He wasn’t in all his red, white, and blue.” She gestured to her body to indicate she meant his superhero suit. “If they had seen him in costume, they probably wouldn’t have made such fast friends. But meeting someone else outside their village who had powers and was using them for good changed them. It gave them something to believe in. They helped Carter and Rogers with the early days of Shield, specifically the part for people like us. It wasn’t always easy, even within Shield.”
“That’s why you stay,” Jemma said, putting pieces only she had together. “You don’t just protect the program’s existence. You protect those of us in it.”
Jiaying looked away. “There are those who would use our abilities for their own selfish ends. My parents lived through horrors no one should have to experience. But they did it to serve and shield our community. So we’d never have to go through what they did.”
When she met Daisy’s eyes, Daisy read deep pain there but also deep hope. Jiaying was willing to shoulder the heavy burden of leadership and bureaucracy and legacy to carry on a duty. One she’d inherited as her birthright but also as her responsibility. Daisy felt less alone for a moment. She too knew the weight and honor of Shield family expectations.
“I’m sorry,” Daisy said meekly. It didn’t seem like enough.
“Don’t be.” Jiaying shook her head. “Be willing to protect others, and use what you’ve been given wisely. You have a gift. So do many others, in every corner of the world. Every one of us has a part to play in the balance of the world’s shield.”
Daisy and Jemma understood she didn’t just mean the organization but the metaphorical, symbolic shield of protection that they formed. Enhanced people all around the world were united by this woman and by Programs like this one to train them to use their powers for the benefit of all.
By the end of the week, Daisy could not only make water goblets sing but move mountains—or hills, at least. Jiaying and Agent Whitley took the four friends to a state park just outside the city on Saturday, and while Carol practiced flying in the open space and FitzSimmons took notes and formed theories from observing them, Daisy practiced causing small rock slides without earthquake tremors. It was all about precision and control, the breath and the focus. Sometimes it was hard to maintain her concentration with Carol’s flight attempts and Agent Whitley calling out instructions to Carol to test her aerobatic agility, but the distraction was helpful for the training as well. Jiaying reminded Daisy that in the field, there would be many more distractions and she would need to be able to work precisely, whether to dismantle a gun or take out a specific target, without destroying everything else in the area.
It took hours of flattened trees and failure, but Daisy got there. She could push a park table without touching it, even rattling it free first when it was bolted down. She could shake the chains of a basketball hoop in rhythm without cracking the backboard. And she could cause rock slides hundreds of feet away.
At the end of the day, Agent Whitley drove Jiaying and the cadets back to the Secret Warriors building where Bobbi was locking up for the evening.
“I return these cadets to you in full confidence, Agent Morse,” Jiaying said formally. “Keep up the good work with your Program and keep an eye on them.” Daisy could have sworn Jiaying winked in her direction.
Bobbi lit up at the unexpected compliment. “Thank you, Director. I certainly will.”
Seeing Bobbi’s honored reaction, Daisy realized these last few weeks had been a test for Bobbi too. She was an excellent field agent, of course. But she had taken to being an instructor like a duck to water. To have the global director’s approval in her first year was a major milestone and an honor, especially if Bobbi wanted to make it her career.
She caught Daisy observing her. “What?”
“Nothing!”
“So you’re ready to be back in the ring?” Bobbi asked. “No more pain or fractures?”
Daisy beamed and showed Bobbi her clear, healthy arms, no bruises or inflammation. “All better and ready for duty, ma’am.” She gave a quick salute with a wink.
Bobbi pursed her lips and gave a mock scrutinizing inspection to match Daisy’s teasing formality. “Carry on, then, cadets. See you Monday morning, bright and early.”
“Don’t remind us,” Fitz grumbled just as his stomach growled.
She laughed and shook her head as she left.
The four turned to each other, having succeeded at the two most intensive weeks of their training.
“Well.” Fitz clapped his hands. “Time for dinner?”
“Yes!” the girls agreed enthusiastically.
As they walked across campus to the cafeteria for dinner, Carol slung an arm around Daisy’s shoulders.
“Hey babe, have I told you you rock my world?” Carol could hardly get it out, she was already laughing at her superpower humor.
“Aw yeah?” Daisy returned. “Well, you light me on fire.”
“It’s photon energy, actually,” Carol teased.
“Whatever, shut up.” Daisy kissed her on the cheek already conveniently located next to her lips.
Jemma leaned into Fitz. “Is that what we’re like to the outside observer?”
Daisy broke in, “WORSE. You guys don’t even say it out loud anymore.”
Carol added, “Yeah, at least when you bantered out loud we knew what you were talking about. Or, heard what you were talking about, even if we didn’t understand it.”
Fitz tsked. “Nosy and cheeky.”
“You’re cheeky,” Daisy retorted, too hungry and tired to care if it made sense. “God, I could eat a whole pizza.”
“Ugh, me too,” Carol added.
“Mmm I’m thinking about a lovely burger and a pile of chips.” Jemma said it so dreamily the others laughed.
At the end of the day, no matter how much changed or what obstacles they had to conquer, they had each other to lean on, laugh with, and come home to. And after all, that’s what they were fighting for: love, hope, joy, friendship, and family.
----------------------------------
The end! Hope you have enjoyed our three-fic journey! It's been so fun joining the AoS space. I'll have more Daisy and Carol, in other "universes" and deviations from canon, soon. :)

Agents of SHIELD Rewatch Season 3A (ep. 1-10)
Here's my commentary on my rewatch of Agents of SHIELD Season 3 Episodes 1-10. This may not be the best commentary since these are just the thoughts and opinions that come to my mind as I watch the episodes rather than a full-blown analysis, but I'm just having fun with it!
3x01 Laws of Nature
Can’t wait for more no lighting this season!
JOEY aka Marvel’s actual first on screen openly gay character. POC LGBTQ+ character to mention. Do wish they did more with him though. Love him.
Very beginning, and the government already wants to use lethal force against innocent, scared, and confused people.
Joey’s power is really interesting. Wonder if there was more they could explore with it.
QUAKE THEME (yes i’m continuing this)
QUAKE SUIT
SHORT HAIR
“My name is Daisy, I’m here for your protection”
ZEPHYR ONE
Also I can finally call her Daisy!
Daisy is so good at helping people and the inhumans. She really was destined to protect and lead them. Wish the show had gone more into this after season 4.
“I’m not a freaking TED Talk”
“You love your new toy, don’t you” “I very much do love my new toy”
Daisy calls Coulson Phil in this episode, and it’s so season 1 vibes before she chooses AC. I think this is only the 2nd time she’s called him Phil in the whole show. I think.
Also Doctor Bobbi. Love her.
“Name usually short for Robert, but in my case, Barbara, which I think is worse”.
Facebook. It knows all.
Coulson… why do you have the axe that Mack used to cut off your hand pinned up on the wall??😅
“Wouldn’t want to make you do something that makes you feel uncomfortable” *takes off robot hand*
I am looking 👀respectfully👀 at tank top Daisy.
MACK AND DAISY PARTNERS! IT BEGINS!
Also I want a hug from Teddy Bear Mack🧸
Was SHIELD able to get hold of other inhumans before Joey? Like I think Daisy mentioned having names later in the episode or the next. Was that a thing?
I feel for Joey. I’d probably have a very similar reaction.
I’ve always thought about what power I’d like to have if I was an inhuman. I’d want force fields like Violet from the Incredibles.
Bobbi has a biology degree
NOT THE HAND ON DISPLAY IN THE LAB
And here’s the season where I start to not like Fitz. I get wanting to get your loved one back but having your friends cover for you with nothing in return?? Also not to mention the shit he doesn’t get for it while Daisy got so much shit for doing what was best for her in season 4.
Though I will admit, Fitz’s field skills have improved well.
Kinda hate how no one talks to Fitz and confronts things he might be doing wrong because they don’t want to have that confrontation. Mack and Bobbi just choose to not talk to him about it. Maybe that’s why he is so much worse in season 4/5.
Sorry Fitz fans. This is where it starts for me (Actually started back in s1 but it’s more prominent here)
And I get wanting Jemma back. I have no doubt in my mind that Daisy researched the monolith for months and tried everything she could to get Jemma back. I just hate how much praise Fitz gets for being single minded.
“Only love can make a man so stupid” I don’t disagree. But there’s a certain level with Fitz that I just had to laugh. Also I’m willing to argue obsessive more than love.
I’m really going in now with my disdain for Fitz, aren’t I haha😂
I wasn’t a big fan of Rosalind at first, but she became a fun character.
Coulson and Hunter is always a fun duo. They bounce off each other so well.
Every time the power flickers at the hospital, I always just think about the people on life support lol😅
21 more episodes until you get the shotgun axe Mack
*every time Daisy runs into danger* Mack: “This bitch”
Also was Lash/Andrew specifically going after Lincoln. Because of his connection to SHIELD, I feel like he would be a no no target.
I get why people are upset with how Lash looked, but given that’s it’s an actual costume and not CGI, I think it’s pretty impressive. That’s just me though. Honestly, doesn’t take much to impress me.
Mack’s big brother protectiveness in full force🥺
Oh there’s my answer for “I can’t do this anymore”
This whole news broadcast is sounding too much like covid lockdown words and I’m having flashbacks.
Jiaying was right. World’s not ready.
Ant-Man reference. The only movie tie in that matters because I love the Ant-Fam and the Ant-Man movies are pure gold.
Wait, so was it Fitz’s idea not to tell Jemma’s family she’s missing?? Cause his reaction says he doesn’t want to tell them. THEY DESERVE TO KNOW THEIR DAUGHTER IS MISSING!! My god, here we go…
Though I do kinda like the father-son sort of relationship between Fitz and Coulson.
Sure Fitz, scream at the rock and put everyone in danger.
But Iain’s a good actor.
First look at Maveth!
3x02 Purpose in the Machine
And we open with a human sacrifice. Fun!
It’s a split second thing, but when Daisy is helping to push the containment door to the monolith closed, you can actually see Chloe’s tattoo on her arm!
I see people be critical for Coulson looking at the negatives, but then again, he’s being realistic. They wanna have all the facts straight before they put all their energy into something and reach a dead end. I love Jemma, you guys, so I do want her back.
See, why is Bobbi reprimanded for covering for Fitz, but not Fitz himself for leaving and having Bobbi cover?
GO. AWAY. WARD.
What is the purpose of speeding in a parking garage?
Just breaking out of jail. No biggy.
ANDREWWWWWW I LOVE YOU
“My job is to keep everyone safe, not just potential recruits, but you as well”🥺 I love that Andrew has this soft spot for Daisy.
“Not getting me on the couch”
There’s a Sun City in California too fun fact.
“Mellie”
Any time James Hong is in something, I always go “the goose from Kung Fu Panda” and now “May’s dad!!”
I don’t think he’d have a problem getting through you, Fitz.
Love Amazon Woman for Bobbi. I’m actually glad I understood the reference and why.
“tO tHe PlAnE”
Rats. Nothing says Hydra like rats.
“You know, there’s a ginormous eagle symbol on the top of our jet”
It makes me sad as to why Andrew hasn’t allowed anyone for the team.
Why is everyone “he is who he is” but Daisy has to change and grow for everyone. She does that on her own perfectly fine for her own growth. Why can’t everyone change and grow??
I want more little ice skating May🥺
“Well, and you could hit people” Good enough reason to join martial arts if you ask me.
I love how everyone is just pressing buttons and levers all “let’s see what this does”
“Midlife crisis… eArLy midlife crisis”
“He didn’t say that. Did he say that?”
Everyone has a personal vendetta with Andrew Garner😂
Literally no one sees Daisy in pain???
I literally do not care about the Ward Hydra story so don’t expect much on it lol.
But Werner von Strucker
IDK why but the “Melinda 1979” on the back of the photo makes me emotional. I wish we got more of May’s life before SHIELD.
Also, is there a confirmed year of birth for May? Ming was born in 1963, so she’s be 16 in 1979, but she looks younger in the photo.
Here is the scene of a major red flag for Fitz. Totally disregarding Daisy’s health. She said she can hold it for maybe a minute. She holds it for too long because Fitz is single minded and cares for no one else but Simmons and himself. Again, I want Jemma back, but not at the expense of another. Daisy could have had serious brain damage or other injuries due to her powers. She also doesn’t have her gauntlets, so her arms are being damaged as well.
I feel like this scene lasted longer in canon time but for screen time, it was about 3 minutes long. Again, Daisy said she could only hold it for 1 minute. Fitz totally over exerted her.
Also the way she just plops down so weakly.
I’m glad Simmons is back though and didn’t drag her being on Maveth for too long.
“You did good, Tremors”🥺🥺🥺
Also, we don’t have anyone caring for Daisy??? Again, glad Jemma is back and yes, she deserves the medical care, but we just glanced over Daisy?
“Come on, May, smile for once in your life!”
DONT TOUCH ANDREW
3x03 A Wanted (Inhu)man
Again with the lethal force. Really?
Okay but the electric rain is really pretty.
Disney+ subtitles need fixing cause they said Daisy was speaking when Bobbi was, and Daisy wasn’t even in the scene until like 30 seconds later.
They should not have tagged Lincoln, but it definitely should have been ran by Daisy.
I understand Lincoln’s desire for a normal life, but he should understand the importance of SHIELD wanting to help him. They’re his best option.
May’s so hot in this episode. Just thought I should mention it.
When Spud hugs May, she kinda sounds like Mulan there.
The subtitles for the drunk brits haha.
It is sweet that Fitz is helping Jemma, but I’m about to mention a negative side to the fandom because of it. I often see people hate on Jemma saying “This is what she should have done for Fitz with his brain injury”. SHE DID TRY. But she was obviously not helping, and not to mention the trauma she went through too. She left Fitz because she needed to do what she needed to do.
It might be my Daisy bias but every time a character does something that Daisy did that she got reprimanded for, I’m gonna say something cause both the show’s and the fandom’s treatment of her is disgusting.
“She knows I’m lying, so is it even a lie?”
The May and Hunter team up is definitely interesting. And there is a small moment where Hunter is actually right.
Also, wouldn’t people notice that Hunter came accompanied?? The point of May not fighting is because word will spread and get Ward, and Ward knows May. Like people could be telling Ward, “Yeah, he came in with a small, Asian woman”.
Agents of SPOOF has ruined so many scenes for me haha😂 Evil Queen as Rosalind and the TV as the mirror then Clark in the Peggy Carter costume.
I love this little Skimmons scene!! “You can call me whatever you want”🥺
It’s also kinda sad how when her team is going through something, Daisy is the first person to be there for them but when she needs the help, she’s on her own. And people wonder why she ran.
Not your fault Lincoln.
“Where are you going?” “The beach😁”
“and it’s a HIM”
Leave May alone!!
But then again, she can easily beat your ass.
“So who’s first?”
Why don’t I remember this scene being so quick? haha.
“How about I do you a favor and not tell anyone that a tiny, little Asian woman kicked your ass” YES MAY I LOVE YOU
“You’re having a hell of a day” The same thing Coulson told Daisy when they found Cal’s hideout😭
“We’re not Hydra” Haha…ha
Rosalind says Daisy has a pretty face. YES SHE DOES.
“I know the real you” “You don’t” THIS HURT.
“You help people because you were meant to” YOU TOO DAISY YOU TOO
My Staticquake feelings are coming back oh no! (Still a Dousy girl though. Dousy all the way)
KISS KISS KISS KISS
How many times has Mack had to hear kissing in his comms between Daisy with Lincoln and Bobbi with Hunter??
Again, big brother Mack for the win.
“I will devote all our resources and manpower to crushing your agency” CAUSE IF YOU TAKE DAISY FROM COULSON… YOU IN TROUBLE
See, Jemma did help him by bringing him out.
THE WINE😭😭😭
I see both sides with Daisy and Coulson but Daisy’s side showcases the lives in danger and how they need to protect them.
I need more game time with Daisy and Mack.
3x04 Devils You Know
Lincoln said the elders at Afterlife only chose one person every few years. How is there such a handful of people who have powers??
Again, Daisy just dragging Mack with her along for the ride haha 😂
So did Coulson just like sneak around the building to meet with Rosalind.
Ward, you know NOTHING about accountability.
“Yes, mom”
Again, Daisy’s side focuses on the lives in danger. They should be able to get to them first to help.
Fitz, do you not know privacy and not read things that don’t belong to you?
Also Bobbi does you an explanation for anything, Fitz.
“I did the same to you. Now we’re even” UGHH IMMA CRY😭😭😭
Of course Daisy was able to track the virus.
Dragon Lady
What are the lengths of inhuman powers. We got the destroyer and a devining rod.
“It’s got a laser finger”
Does this Dwight guy only know Lash? He hasn’t seen Andrew??
A guy trying to do the right thing?? HE’S KILLING THEM!
“I feel like his meds are wearing off” idk why but the way Daisy says that makes me laugh.
Mack used to call Daisy “D”🥺
“A human one, so not your thing”
Again, Bobbi doesn’t have to tell you ANYTHING.
YES MAY
“I’ve taken out five” “Slow day??”
DONT TOUCH ANDREW
KARA WAS YOUR FAULT WARD!
I don’t really hate Hunter for going in for Ward. I get he’s impulsive but Ward would have killed Andrew regardless. Since when does Ward keep his word. He doesn’t have that kind of morality.
Also Hunter had a point. If they didn’t act, so many people would have died.
But at the same time, Hunter almost cost Andrew’s life. It’s a sticky situation in my opinion.
Ngl, first time I watched this, I thought Fitz brought Jemma toilet paper and not a mug of tea haha😅
3x05 4,722 Hours
ICONIC EPISODE
Jemma is a lot calmer than I would be lol.
Also saying it now but Elizabeth Henstridge BLEW THIS EPISODE PUT OF THE WATER! I love her.
Jemma crying for the sun😭
“YOU’RE DINNER BIATCH”
“And then I burped really loud”
Also I am a Will Daniel’s supporter.
Tbh if I saw a person for the first time in 14 years on a deserted alien planet, I would’ve thought I’d be going crazy too”
I’m sorry if I don’t say a lot, I’m really invested in this episode so I kinda forget.
“I think it’s the fires of hell” “Okay then”
Has Will aged at all? I don’t think so. Cause in 2001, Jemma would have been 14 and Will was a fully trained adult astronaut.
The Doctor Who cake🥺
Also when did this video take place. I’m imagining season 2 cause Daisy has the bangs, but at the time, Fitz was still recovering.
“I always thought there would be time for that later”😭
Fly Boy
The whole scoliosis story leads to the series finale where Jemma names her daughter Alya🥺
“You think I was gonna build a helicopter?” “Kinda”
I myself am not super religious, but I go to a christian college, and I am required to take religion classes and I wrote a paper on this season for a media analysis and how it reflects the gospel and the Bible. Just a little fun fact cause Will mentioned “Garden of Eden”
Will doesn’t deserve to hate he gets. He literally did nothing wrong. He protected Jemma and helped to keep her in check and not lose her mind. He truly is an amazing guy.
Also Jemma does not deserve hate for falling in love with Will. She didn’t cheat on Fitz, they were never a couple. Jemma deserves to be happy and if she was alone on a planet, she deserves someone like Will. Also they were together for six months. That’s enough time to fall in love with someone. This episode shows some of the fandom’s true colors and how they view women compared to the men on the show. Yes, I am calling this out.
Also, what’s so wrong about Jemma just wanting to be best friends with Fitz? She doesn’t owe him romantic feelings just because he feels that way about her.
RIP Will. You deserved so much better.
3x06 Among Us Hide...
ANDREW’S ALIVE!
“Yeah, I’m back” Me coming back
“They all want me dead that much” SO DO I.
Daisy just wants May back🥺
May, couldn’t have given Bobbi a warning?😅
I love May, and I get that she trusts Bobbi and knows she can do it, but I feel like May shouldn’t go behind Bobbi’s medical orders. What if something bad ended up happening? Again, love May, but some things might be uncalled for. Though, I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt since she’s out for blood.
This season has a common theme of characters going off the deep end and are justified but the moment a special someone (i think you all know who I’m talking about~) does something for herself, she’s not justified. I’ll be taking about this more in season 4.
“Ward’s starting his own Hydra dynasty. Cute”
Ugh Gideon Malick. Screw him. At this point, I don’t know if I hate him or Nathaniel more. But rest in peace Powers Booth.
So Rosalind just picked Coulson up like a school kid? lol.
Hunter, have you bought a plane ticket for an ex of Bobbi before?
Ugh Hunter, I like you, but you don’t know Will either, so you have no say in his character.
“You saw him” and realizing that Andrew is just questioning Daisy as to see if she saw him.
Poor Hunter😂 He just wants to help.
I just love May and Bobbi’s face changes lol.
Ngl that alarm took forever to go off.
May’s commentary in Mandarin is just hilarious.
I also love Hunter added to the Daisy and Mack team up. It’s much more chaotic and I love it.
Oh, Ros, he HAS been scoping things out.
Everything following Mack’s “oh no” is just chaotic.
Andrew’s support for everyone🥺
Lance Hunter: King of “I didn’t do it”
Can we have Academy Bobbi please??
“It’s awesome, so I stole it” I love you, Daisy.
I love Daisy’s discipline in this scene. It’s short and small but it’s very telling of her character development. Her instincts turned out to be wrong, and though she was so sure, she accepted it and it moving on the working the problem.
Also, Fitz trying to find dirt on Will is just gross. Not only does it show something about his character, but it shows how he doesn’t trust Jemma about what she’s saying about Will.
Another reason why Daisy was right all along. Putting inhumans in the gel matrix is in no way more humane than what SHIELD is trying to do. SHIELD, well at least Daisy, is trying to educate people and help them understand their heritage and powers. Daisy wants to help others better themselves. Putting people in involuntary comas is not making them better. It’s also taking the choice to learn and grow away from them.
MAY AND BOBBI TEAM UP
Being under water can’t be good for the lungs😬
Bye bye Kebo
ANDREW NO! I LOVE YOU. WHY’D THE SHOW DO THIS TO YOU?!?!
Daisy and Lincoln were cute early-mid season.
NOT THE OMINOUS MUSIC WITH ANDREW NOW
3x07 Chaos Theory
ANDREW AND MAY WERE SO GOOD WHY DO YOU HAVE TO HURT THEM AND ME SHOW? WHY???
I see that red bikini May😏
MAY’S SMILE🥰🥺😭
So when did Jiaying plant the terrigen crystal in that book? Cause it cracked right when it was opened.
How come when Daisy turns out fine, she’s the outlier. But with Lash, it’s all inhumans are uncontrollable and want to hurt people.
The fact that it was Lincoln on the phone with Mack cause he trusts Mack.
I just feel so sorry for May.
The little background elements with Mack make the climax of this episode so much fun (but still hurtful cause I still love Andrew)
DAISY AND MAY HUG #1 OF 4
JOEYYYYY
Yes, Roz, a containment pod is more humane than induced comas in gel. Also, the pod is temporary for travel. They have more resources where they can expand training and understanding.
@ryder616 made a post about the whole “for every Daisy Johnson, there’s a Lash” which everyone should check out. To sum it up, it’s a very unfair comparison to make as the inhumans just want to be left alone, but everyone else wants to blame inhumans for the problems they face and are too quick to judge.
Also, inhuman abilities are not an illness. It’s something that is naturally apart of them. Making them give that up, trying to “cure” them, that’s truly the inhumane part of everything.
This episode really showcases Ming’s acting and I love it.
I know it’s a serious moment, but May sitting on her legs was cute. Like a little kindergartner😅
“I’m still in love with you, Melinda” UGHHHH😫
No, Roz, you definitely overstepped.
Shark attack? Really, Coulson?😂
Daisy still giving Andrew the benefit of the doubt😭 That’s why she’s still so good.
“And you know I’ll never lay a finger on Daisy”🥺🥺 Andrew and Daisy really did have a good relationship.
Okay, Andrew this is where we draw the line. No using Bahrain with May. You are actually killing innocent people. But I do understand apart of it is Lash and not Andrew. At least a little I understand.
Andrew and May used an oven as a heater yet my mom yells at me for having a small fan on my nightstand on during the night when it’s so hot in California.
I do like Rosalind going with Coulson’s plan and not going towards her own wants.
May’s face when Andrew turns to Lash😭
15 more episodes, Mack. 15 more episodes🔫🪓
So much of Daisy’s powers is just “well, that worked”😂
Not Fitz and Hunter saying Will has a hog face. So disrespectful not just to Will but to Jemma as well.
I have mixed feelings about the gel matrix in Andrew’s case. I still don’t agree with it fully, but I see what Daisy says about it as she says it’s a temporary solution.
I think May has cried only 3 times in this show. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think it’s only in 2x17, 3x07, and 5x22.
“Never thought I deserved this. Happiness” BRB CRYING😭😭😭😭😭
I DID NOT NEED THIS EPISODE TO END ON WARD. FUCK YOU WARD.
OH SHIT I FORGOT THE HYDRA x ATCU was this episode!! ALSO ROZ AND COULSON DID IT.
3.08 One Head, Many Tales
Not the octopus💀
Ward really thinks he can take on the head of Hydra, who has been head for YEARS, all on his own. Please lol.
But the history of Hydra is a little interesting as it spans longer than WWII.
Andrew IS one of the good ones😭
Here we go, Fitz already pissing me off. I get you’re focused, but that doesn’t excuse you to be an asshole to people helping you.
“Will that happen again” “Pinning takes the fun out of it” This was cute!
If May singled me out and I knew she was upset, I’d be crying and/or shitting my pants right then and there.
Where was the location of the Playground? It’s probably a simple google search on the mcu wiki, but I’m lazy rn.
There’s just something about Daisy talking with her hacking lingo just makes me feel soft. I guess it just feels like little Skye in season 1🥺
I love tech support Mack.
Also love “Damn the Yanks” Hunter. Again, just completely chaotic.
Now Ward is just full blown terrorist. I mean, not that he wasn’t before.
SHIELD snatched Coulson up because he was uncovering SHIELD secrets due to history lessons. Kinda like how Daisy was picked up because she got into SHIELD servers.
Someone, probably Daisy, teach Hunter how to type😅
Ughhh I am not a big fan of this Fitzsimmons kiss. It’s not just that I’m not the biggest fan of Fitz or the ship. The whole situation is just shitty. Fitz says they’re cursed yet there are other relationships (ex: May and Andrew. Coulson and Rosalind. Later Daisy and Lincoln) that are literally being pulled apart. It’s not the universe’s fault that the two of you (Fitz mostly) took years to say your feelings Also, Jemma JUST said she’s in love with Will, yet Fitz still goes ahead and kisses her??? Kinda an ass move.
The May and Lincoln team up is actually pretty cool. I kind of like it. Even though we get a little bit. I kinda want more of it.
Introduction of Giyera. Tbh, despite actually being in majority of the season, Giyera’s a pretty forgettable character.
Ward falling through the ceiling is just so random😂
Rosalind was recruited in 2001 with NASA, the same year Will was shipped off to Maveth. Wonder if they knew each other?
Okay. I know it. You know it. We all know it. That old Hydra symbol looks like a dick.
That being said, how the hell did the cast keep a straight face? Especially since literally the whole cast is there😂
3.09 Closure
And goodbye Rosalind Price. Definitely a fun character and deserved a little more time.
And her death was BRUTAL.
I really feel for Coulson, I really do, but he went off the deep end and not in a good way. I understand wanting to get information on Ward, but interrogating the og team, making them open up about uncomfortable things.
And then there’s Daisy’s interrogation. He’s quick to accuse Daisy of being able to forgive Ward despite knowing all that Ward had done to her and how she will never forgive him. Did we just forget about the kidnappings? Kidnappings! Plural!
Again, a character going off the deep end and acting on emotion and being excused for it, but the moment Daisy goes off the deep end cause she’s drowning in guilt or when she’s in charge, making emotional decisions, she’s ridiculed. No, I will never stop talking about it.
Director Mackenzie foreshadowing.
LEAVE JEMMA ALONE!
They never explicitly said Thomas died or survived in season 1 did they? Cause they kinda implied he died.
YOU killed Kara, Ward. YOU KILLED HER. YOU had the gun. YOU we’re just stupid enough to fall for the fake one.
Somebody protect Thomas please.
JOEYYYY
Let’s go Daisy, Joey, and Lincoln! Just waiting on one more😉
Mack and Daisy fist bump🥺
Thank you Bobbi for being rational right now.
Fuck Ward. Fuck Malick. Fuck all of Hydra.
COULSON!!!
3.10 Maveth
Not Fitz still trying to talk through to Ward. He really feels like the whole “I can change him” archetype😅
“That’s it?”
Poor Joey😅 He just needs a SHIELD crash course real quick.
“Fancy new plane”
Couldn’t have snuck away a little better and not draw attention, Fitz??
“I’ll be damned. Tatooine”
Power Rangers
“We’re all feeling that.” “I’m not” “Okay, everyone but May.”
Okay, but how did none of the Hydra soldiers not see the containment module light come on or hear Andrew??
And the soldiers that did come in were literally looking straight at Jemma? Like what?
I know this is Hive inside Will, but it’s so different from when he’s in Ward.
Bobbi’s got it handled.
“I’m bulletproof!”
Also Joey willing to jump in front of Daisy to protect her from getting shot🥺
But now I wanna write a fic if she would have gotten shot. I just want other characters to care about her okay😩
Coulson beating the crap out of Ward is very satisfying.
Shoot Ward again.
Just wanna say that May’s lipstick in this episode is *chef’s kiss*
Did Coulson know about Will?
Twice is not enough for Ward to be shot.
“Can’t speak for everyone, but I’ll probably run” Same Hunter.
Again, RIP Will.
“I’ll be fine” *literally passes out the next scene*
And Coulson crushing Ward’s ribcage is the most satisfying thing about this episode.
The reunion on Z1😭🥺

AoS finale thoughts that no one asked for...
1. Elizabeth's ACTING.
Her blank looks and confused stares at information/all of the people she's known for years. The comedy, her wanting a costume for protection. The stream of random babbling that was very important nonsense. The moment she remembered Alya and she reached for her stomach. Their reunion. Just everything.
2. Alya.
I knew just from that one look from Iain De Caesteker when he was trying to get Jemma to remember and she said the star name Alya that it was their daughter's name. Just one look. World class actors on this show. All of them.
3. Deke.
At first I was mad. Very mad. Not because he was left behind but because of the way it was treated. Like he didn't matter, like a joke. I'm still a little mad about it. But I'm focusing on him rather than the team. Because look at where he started vs where he ended and I think Deke's character arc was so well done. We saw all of the work. We saw selfish OG straight from the future Deke, we saw the Deke who thought he had a place with the team and a family get left behind again. We saw him go through his issues and learn from them to get to "I don't give up on my friends". He sold out the team, his instincts were always to look out for himself, they had to be in his world. Given the chance to grow and be a part of a family, he gladly and willingly gave up everything for them all. It wasn't even a question in his mind, their happiness over his. That ladies and gentlemen is character growth and I love one Agent Deke Shaw 🍋
4. Mack/ Yoyo
I screamed SO LOUD when they showed Mack on the helicarrier. I love Mack. He was always the best choice for Director. Also, Uncle Mack sending presents? Yes, please. Protector Mack laughing with Sousa and then questioning his intentions with Daisy. Love the Director. That final scene when Yoyo just peaced out of a moving vehicle just like byeeee after asking for videos of Alya swimming? Unphased badass queen. I love their relationship so much because it's so solid. They aren't the ones who get constantly torn apart and its not big and dramatic, that's not who they are. They both put their jobs before themselves because they love to help other people. Their relationship is an accumulation all of those little things you see them do for each other and I think it's beautiful.
5. May/Coulson
Honestly? Unpopular opinion but I was happy with their ending. In my head, I never considered a relationship between May and LMD Coulson. Coulson died. May had whatever time with him in Tahiti and she mourned him and said goodbye. Then Sarge came along and stabbed her. May doesn't need anyone. She is not a relationship. She loved Coulson and they had their time together but he died. I was honestly surprised to see the backlash? Having a romantic relationship with a robot...not healthy. What happens when she ages and he stays the same lmd Coulson? May had to move forward and she did. I lived for the moment that she owned the Calvary name.
6. Daisy
Not to braggg but I called Daisy/Sousa before the season even started. It was the easiest way to give Daisy a relationship with a character that we were all already emotionally invested in. It takes time that the writers didn't have to establish a whole new character that would be good enough for Daisy and Sousa was...recently available. I love them together. But more importantly, Daisy/Chloe Bennet crushed it. The fight scenes, the emotions, the subtlety. PERFECT. Daisy calling Coulson, AC? I lost it. She was so afraid to lose her family but it just got bigger and her face at the end 😊
I wish there was a bus kids scene. Or Daisy's reaction to Fitzsimmons having a kid. It also perturbed me about FitzSimmons retiring completely, except Simmons seemed to be secretly not? That was weird to me. Was she still working because she is an extraordinarly intelligent person who probably wouldn't do well with nothing to apply her brain to for the next 40-50 years of her life, and keeping it a secret from Fitz? Which is not in character at all? Did I misread that scene? BUT overall, I think they did a pretty good job of wrapping up all of the storylines while still leaving it open ended enough for more.

Thoughts on the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D series finale
********AOS SERIES FINALE SPOILERS AHEAD*********
********AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D SERIES FINALE SPOILERS AHEAD*********
*******SERIOUSLY. IF YOU DON’T WANNA BE SPOILED STOP READING NOW********
You were warned.
Okay. So Agents of Shield is finished.
On the first watch I won’t lie, I was REALLY conflicted and bothered by the ending. I really couldn’t understand why they chose to go that route and I ended up pacing my house for like 30mins. However, after a couple hours of mulling it over, a rewatch and a nap. I understand why they ended it the way they did and actually have a newfound respect and maybe even love for the ending.
I know on first watch seeing everyone (especially May and Daisy) separated and alone initially feels depressing and possibly like the last 7 years of building this family was redundant, but if you look closer, it wasn’t...at all.
When we first met May, she wasn’t just alone, she was broken and self-isolated from everyone that she cared about and who cared about her. After the events of Bahrain, she closed herself down and became a shell of herself while her guilt and self-loathing threatened to eat her alive. The May we see in the final 3 episodes is so incredibly far from that. When Daisy throws Bahrain in her face in s2, the self loathing is still very present and she still can barely speak on it, she still feels like a monster for what happened and she retreats away from the team (to a degree) and back into herself. This reaction is so different to when Kora throws Bahrain in her face in 7x11. May is at a point where she fully realizes she wasn’t the monster in that story, she did what she did to save the innocent, and that at her very core is who she is, a protector of the innocent and those who can't protect themselves. And like she tells Kora, she’s “made peace with it”. In the last scene with May, yes there is a sadness that the team isn’t all together, but she’s not broken, unhappy or even alone. She’s found a new calling teaching at an Academy named after Coulson which upholds his legacy. She’s jovial when Flint comes and she laughs and jokes. It's so far removed from s1 May. Before Bahrain, May wanted kids and even when she was trying to save Katya, you could tell that she cared about kids a lot, this echoes to her protectiveness over the bus kids, and also extends into the Framework where kids being in danger was the thing that kinda brought her back to herself, and then also Robin, who she becomes a mother to. This is where the best of May comes out, she’s a mentor and a protector and in her last scene we see her happily being that to Flint and other students. So it’s full circle, she’s physically away from the team but not holed up alone in a cubicle in pain. She’s healed over these past several years and found a new purpose for her life, and her Shield family and time with them gave her that and made that possible.
The same with Daisy. When we meet her she is truly alone, she’s grown up alone, has nobody, she’s living in a van, she doesn’t even know her real name or date of birth, she’s searching for her family and searching for an identity and purpose. Throughout the last 7 seasons she’s found all of that and more. In this ending, like May, she’s not with the team, but she’s not truly without it either. She’s still in Shield, still doing missions, still in contact with the team, she still has them. If something goes wrong, there isn’t a doubt in my mind that they will come running as they always have, but after several years of fighting Hydra, Inhumans, ghosts, demons, LMDs, aliens, Chronicoms, being stranded on alien planets or at the bottom of the sea, being thrown into the future and then into the past, being mutilated or killed and resurrected or not, they all deserve some reprieve. They also can’t live under each other forever and they all deserve to actually live their lives. At the beginning of the series Daisy was lost and she didn’t know who she was, by the end neither of those are true anymore. She’s found her calling, she’s found family, she’s found relatives, she’s even found love. And now It’s like she’s paying it forward. Someone found her and gave her love, home, family and solid ground and now she’s doing the same for others (namely Daniel and Kora). Everything really goes back to the conversation her and Mack had where he tells her that even if the team dynamic shifts, it's okay and she’ll be okay. In real families we don’t all stay under the same roof forever, we branch out, take jobs in other cities or countries and start families of our own, but it doesn’t negate our original family and I don't think this ending does either. It doesn’t mean found families hold less weight than blood families, because with family (the people you’ve chosen to love and have chosen to love you back, blood or not), even when you’re not around them 24/7, distance and time change nothing. Based on the group conversation, they clearly have been in contact and will continue to be, Jemma saying she’ll email Daisy later about something they had earlier discussed, Mack and Yoyo still being together even though they’re on mission in different places at the moment, May telling Mack she has some names of recruits to send him, Coulson telling Daisy to give him a call once she gets back to Earth etc. It's not that they’re not family anymore or that they’re only gonna contact or see each other once a year, their life choices just have them spread out and busy, but they’re still family. Jemma saying they need to do the group meeting annually doesn’t mean it has to only happen once a year, nor does it mean they won’t interact individually whenever they can, it just means that despite how busy life gets they need to make sure they as a whole group isolate some time to be together however they can. That is the most family thing ever. Throughout the year ppl are busy and you see each other but not everyone together at the same time, but then you have something like Thanksgiving or Christmas where everyone makes it their business to find themselves under the same roof for a day. It feels like the same concept applies here. It only feels sad right now because it's new, but after a while it will be normal. They’ve spent the better part of a decade living under the same roof and now they’re not even on the same planet all the time, it's a weird adjustment, but they will adjust.
As far as Philinda goes. Philinda has been my AoS OTP since season 1 and while I was kinda sad initially that they didn’t end together, I get it. Phil is dead and PhilLMD is just that, an LMD. A robot. He’s not real and as such, while still having Philinda scenes makes me happy, I don’t think I want May to have to settle for a robot no matter how advanced. It’s not fair. Especially with her being an empath now, every time she touches Phil it's a reminder that he’s not real. He can’t grow old with her or be truly intimate because everything about him is coded into him. She deserves the chance and the space to move on and find something real with someone real and him being around her all the time would prevent that because she loves Phil, even though he’s not really here anymore. Phil was ready to go in season 5 as he felt like he had already been given a second chance and didn’t want to be greedy, which is why he didn’t seek out the cure in space. LMD!Phil who works solely off of Phil’s memories and feelings is echoing the same sentiments by contemplating shutting down. It's not fair for May to let herself explore this any deeper (especially now being an empath as she feels things more deeply), only for him to decide to shut down leaving her again, and it's not fair for them to explore this and him to force himself to stay operative until she dies as to not hurt her again, even though his Phil coding is telling him it's time to go. I feel like once everyone is comfortably settled into their new lives and he knows they’re all truly okay, he’ll shut down for good, until then he’s just around in case they need him.
I don’t think I need to speak too much on Fitzsimmons or Mackelena. With everything Fitz and Simmons have endured over the last 7 seasons, retirement (not sure if Simmons is fully retired too) seems beyond reasonable. We’ve watched them lose each other or themselves in one way or another every season, and like everyone else on the team they kept coming back for more when it would’ve been easier to walk away and most probably would have. But they're not most people, they are a family and refused to abandon the team while it was in need. So this ending with their super cute kid is just very deserved and great to see. Mackelena. I love that they’re still agents. I was also initially surprised Mack was still an agent as he seemed like the most likely to leave a couple seasons ago. Maybe the Adventures of Mack and The D gave him a new outlook, realizing that there are so many out there who want to and will do good if given the space and opportunity to. I also love that Piper asked for a Davis LMD and that he and Piper can argue like old times. I thought that was kinda cute.
Overall, I feel like this moment was necessary. Change sucks, but it's necessary for growth. I also think the messaging is great and applies to the cast, the fans and just the world in general. Change isn’t bad, people come into our lives for seasons and they teach us, love us, heal us and sometimes leave us, but that’s not the end. There are new people and new adventures waiting, and the same way people come into your lives for a reason, we also are destined to go into other people's lives and be that person who teaches, loves and heals them the way someone did for us. It’s a cycle. And that's one of the ways the world moves forward and gets better. Good people bringing out the best in other people, who move on to bring out the best in other people, creating more and more good people. Philindaisy will always hold the most special place in my heart in this show. Phil found May in her cubicle and Daisy in her van, and the three of them saved each other in so many ways and gave each other everything they needed as well unconditional, unwavering love and support which helped them move beyond their past traumas to the point where they were mentally healthy and strong enough to not just have the family they formed with each other, but also form their own families outside of the original family unit and do the same for others. That in itself is beautiful. This is the end of this particular part of their journey, but in no way do I think it's the end of the family that they all formed over the last 7 years, because you don’t go through all they went through and then just feel nothing. They will forever be a part of each other and they will forever pull from the lessons, experiences and love they have for and gave each other. And that’s life, and also what I’m taking away from this show.

Soulmates aren’t romantic. They never were, and they were never supposed to be - whoever designs these things figured that each person should find their lover (or lovers) for themselves. Romantic love is something that varies so hugely between different people, and the whole point of it is to fall naturally in love, isn’t it?
But for all its beauty and joy, love can also go horribly wrong sometimes. Still, these are things each person has to find out for themselves, by themselves, without any cosmic guidance.
But people shouldn’t be forced to go through all the struggles, trials and tribulations of life and love entirely alone, right?
So what the universe decided to do was to grant each person someone else who they’d meet at some point in their life, and who’d be there to hug them through the toughest of the tough, and laugh through the brightest joy with them. Someone who’d be more than just a best friend - someone who would be a sibling, with an unconditional and eternal supportive love, bonded to their very soul.
Everyone would carry their soul-sibling with them at all times, in the form of a small tattoo on the inside of their wrists.
Skye’s soulmark is a cup of tea, of all things, with a curl of smoke hovering over it.
The curl of smoke, she’s always thought, looks a little bit like a heart. Or a smile.
Either way, it’s warm and comforting, and she can’t wait to meet the person it represents.
As time passes, though - tough, cruel times, times where she longed for someone to hold her and tell her it was going to be okay, times where she wished she knew anyone cared - she starts to resent her soulmark.
She starts to wonder if it even works, at all - because isn’t her soulmate supposed to be there to support her through her struggles?
Well, she’s struggling - many nights, she’s so cold that she has to fold herself double and tuck her toes under her, her crappy van’s equally crappy heating on full blast just so she doesn’t freeze. And though she smiles and agrees with the Rising Tide’s grand ideals of freedom, her heart is just as aching and lonely as she was as an orphan with more or less the same chill seeping into her bones.
Why isn’t her soulmate here? She wonders bitterly as she hacks her way through firewall after firewall, chasing something she’s never had but so desperately longs for.
She hates herself for it, but she starts to resent her soulmate, resents the way she keeps hoping she’ll meet them, that her life will make sense, and that she’ll finally have someone who’ll just be there.
Then, completely out of the blue, she does meet her soulmate.
Her name is Jemma Simmons, and she has the brightest, warmest smile that Skye has ever seen. She is welcoming and instantly compassionate when she greets Skye and helps her settle in on their Bus, and something deep inside her just thinks, yes. This is someone I can stay for.
But she isn’t quite ready to let herself believe it yet - what if she’s wrong? How much will that hurt?
So she stays with SHIELD, plays their game, and betrays them when she needs to - but despite herself, they (Jemma especially) have slipped in under her cracks.
The first time Skye’s resolve to deny it to herself begins to weaken is when Jemma forgives her almost immediately for her little dalliance with Miles. They have their Hub adventure next, and while Skye dies inside over just how terrible Simmons is at lying, there’s also something something also settles, comfortable and sure, in her heart.
She knows it for a fact when, after the boys are back and settled in, Jemma comes to knock on the door of her bunk - and she is holding a cup of tea.
It is, shape for shape, curl of steam for curl of steam, exactly the cup that Skye’s spent so long looking at on her wrist.
And when she takes it from Jemma, she cannot help beaming.
She doesn’t tell Jemma immediately - no, they chat and laugh over you certainly have a gorgeous... head, and tease the boys. They even watch a chick-flick once they’re sure May won’t pop in to scold them.
And it’s... everything, really. It’s everything she always wanted - and the longer she stays in Jemma’s presence, the more her resentment fades away, until it’s completely gone somewhere between their third late-night bout of hysterical laughter.
It’s impossible to resent Jemma, and impossible not to melt into the warm feeling of comfort and safety she brings with her.
It is, Skye thinks with a touch of amusement, exactly like the cups of tea Jemma has successfully gotten her to like - sweet, comforting, and with this indefinable sensation of home, warmth and love and home, the more you drank. Or, you know, talked, to finish the analogy.
She’s never been entirely sure what her corresponding mark on Jemma’s arm is - it’s only much later when she finds that one out, in one of the many nights she spent sleeping on the bunk above Jemma’s after her return from Maveth.
It’s a daisy - a daisy in the epicentre of a miniature earthquake, complete with cracked earth zigzagging in all directions about it.
Daisy’s first reaction is to apologise for it - but Jemma stops her with a smile that for the first time in days actually reaches her eyes. She explains what the mark represents to her: no matter how bad things get around you, you can still stand tall and get through it.
That’s what the mark has always represented to her, Jemma confides - from when she was six years old and recovering painstakingly from scoliosis, it has inspired her that she can get through it, whatever “it” is.
It’s one of the main things that kept her going on Maveth, she confesses.
Daisy doesn’t think she’s ever been more touched in her life, and once she’s holding Jemma in a very tight hue makes sure to tell her about how her warmth and caring is all Daisy’s ever wanted, and how she used to comfort herself with the knowledge that she’d find that someday.
And she thinks - that’s exactly what their bond is, what they keep representing to each other.
When she breaks and runs from SHIELD after Lincoln’s death, it’s Jemma’s warmth that first pulls her back. And when Jemma breaks two years later after Fitz’s death, it’s Daisy who helps her stand up and gather herself enough to search across the entire galaxy for him.
They will keep representing this for each other, too, she knows, no matter what happens - because they’re best friends. Soulmates. Sisters.

Simple Melancholy pt. 2 ❣ Kelce ❣
for my full masterlist and the first part, click here! If you want to be added to the taglist for this fic or any of my other works, just let me know!
word count - 4.4k warnings - Brief mentions of past abuse, underage drinking, swearing synopsis - Jemma “Little J” Maybank finds herself a little over her head when she accidentally falls for a boy from Figure Eight. Between her overly protective brother and Kelce’s incredibly rude friends, neither of them are sure how they’re going to make it, but they’re determined to.  tagging - @diverrdown, @yourlocalauthor, @outrebanx, @starkeystyles, @simonsbluee, @parkerpetertingle,  a/n - I’m sorry it took me so long to update this, but I hope you enjoy this part! I love you all. Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay the grooviest.
The water beat against Jemma, her surfboard flying over her head. She tried to push herself to the surface, but another wave crashed into her before she could. The force of the water pushed her into the hard sand, but the pain didn’t register. All Jemma could think about was getting a breath of air.
It wasn’t until the waves pushed her onto the shore that she could finally breathe. Coughing up water and gasping for air, Jemma crawled away from the water.
“That was a nasty wipeout, Little J!” John B said, laughing as he and the others ran over to her.
“Jemma, are you okay?” JJ asked. He dropped to the sand and put a hand on her back as he brushed wet and matted hair out of her face. Nodding, Jemma coughed again. “Come on.”
JJ ducked under her arm and helped her to her feet, moving her farther away from the water. John B, Kie, and Pope followed, dropping their surfboards into the sand. JJ lowered his sister back onto the ground as she continued to suck in deep breaths.
“That...was...sick,” she said, gasping with each word. And then she smiled up at her brother. He shook his head, wrapped his arm around her neck, and tugged her in for a side hug.
“It was pretty cool,” JJ said with a grin. “That’s going in the pogue hall of fails, Little J.”
“Anyone get a picture?” She teased. Kie and Pope, who were still standing with worried looks on their faces, glanced between each other. John B walked over to the cooler they had brought for surfing day and pulled out a beer bottle. When he came back, he handed it off to Jemma and JJ didn’t even protest.
Once she could breathe steadily enough, Jemma popped open the beer and took a short drink. John B sat down beside her with a beer of his own. He grinned at Jemma and JJ narrowed his eyes slowly.
“Don’t be looking at my sister like that,” JJ said. Jemma and John B looked at him with raised eyebrows.
“Get your head out of your ass, bubba,” John B said, taking another sip. JJ looked like he was about to beat his friend into the sand, but Jemma reached out and put a hand over her brother’s.
“Would you chill?” She asked him, a twinge of irritation in her voice. JJ huffed and dropped his hands into the sand. Jemma shook her head and took another swig of beer. She wouldn’t lie and say she would be mad if John B looked at her the way her brother always accused him of. She’d practically grown up with him, been there for him through some of his worst moments and he had been there for her in hers. Thinking about macking her brother’s best friend wasn’t the worst crime Jemma had ever committed. It was, however, the only crime that would probably get her killed.
In an attempt to shake the thoughts away, Jemma pushed herself onto her feet, teetering ever so slightly as she did so. She felt lightheaded, her vision going dark for a second.
“Where are you going?” Kie asked, putting a hand out to steady her friend.
“Gotta go get my board,” Jemma replied.
“I’ll come.” John B started to push himself upward, but not before JJ tackled him back to the sand.
“No way in hell!” His words seemed harsh, but there was a laugh in his voice. Jemma scoffed and rolled her eyes as the boys rolled around, kicking up sand.
“Dude!” Kie protested, trying to jump out of the way of their flailing legs.
“I’ll come with you,” Pope said but Jemma shook her head.
“I don’t need an escort,” she told him with a laugh.
“I’ll come anyway.”
Jemma shrugged and took another sip of beer. If she had felt more attached to her personal items, Jemma might have been upset that her board wasn’t currently on her person. But she had gotten used to disappointment. Losing it would just be losing another thing. From her experience, nothing stayed long, why would a surfboard?
But, losing it would be a potential reason for her dad to get angry. Jemma’s first reaction to her dad being angry with her for losing her board was fear, but the second was bitterness. Let him hate her, let him hit her, let him throw everything he had at her. She could take it.
“Are you even looking?” Pope asked as Jemma stared existentially out into the ocean.
“Huh?” She turned to look at him and he raised his eyebrows. “Right.”
Taking a long drink of beer, she narrowed her eyes and scanned the surface of the water. Waves still crashed against the shore, but there was no sign of her sunset orange board.
“JJ said you got a tutoring gig,” Pope said, shoving his hands into his pockets. Jemma felt herself grimace.
“Yup.” She took a drink.
“Didn’t go well?”
“No, it went perfectly fine. Guy’s a dickhead though.”
“I’m sorry, Little J.”
“Don’t sweat it.” Jemma smiled behind a sip. “At least I’m making money.”
Jemma wasn’t sure why she was so quick to call Kelce a dickhead. He really hadn’t been that terrible any of the times she had come over. After their first mini fight, it seemed like everything became less tense. She helped him write his essays and study for his tests and he didn’t complain nearly as much as JJ did. He tried to ask her questions about her personal life, but she avoided them at all costs. There was no reason for him to get to know her. They weren’t friends. They were supposed to hate each other.
But Jemma couldn’t help but feel like he tried so hard to get to know her because he wanted a real connection with someone that wasn’t just it in for his money. Then again, maybe she was just projecting. Truth be told, he was actually really sweet. And funny. And adorable. And-
“There!” Pope put one hand on her shoulder and pointed with his other.
“Where?”
“There, dumbass!”
Then she saw it, floating by itself just beyond the crashing waves. A smile spread across Jemma’s face. She shoved her beer bottle into Pope’s hands and started for the water.
“Little J, wait!” His attempts to hold her back failed, but his shouting got JJ’s attention.
Jemma dove underneath the first wave she came in contact with. All of her senses came to life. When she was away from the water, it always felt like there was a part of her that was dead, or at least not alive. Even when the ocean tried its hardest to kill her, she always found herself yearning to be right back in it to feel that last bit of life she so deeply desired.
Which was why, even though she had yet to completely catch her breath after her beat down, she didn’t hesitate to dive in headfirst.
“Jemma!” She heard JJ yell over the thundering waves, but she wouldn’t listen. Even after her feet could no longer touch the ground below, Jemma didn’t slow. She maneuvered through the waves until she reached her board.
“Reunited,” she whispered, breathless, a gleeful smile on her face. Before she clambered on top of it, she pressed a kiss against the deck. She rode the waves back to shore, her smile never once fading. But JJ was fired up all over again which was almost enough to put her back in a sour mood as she ran over with the surfboard under her arm.
“You almost died and you just run back into the water like a maniac?” He asked. Jemma shrugged.
“Had to get my board.”
“I could have gotten it for you.”
“I don’t need you to do everything for me. I’m not a baby, J.”
“I know you’re not, but-”
“But nothing.” Jemma tried to keep her smile. “Can I have my beer back?”
Pope, not wanting to get between Jemma and JJ, handed the beer back to her before running back to stand next to Kie. She was waiting patiently to deescalate any situation that arose, John B laughing silently to himself to the side. Not breaking eye contact with her brother, Jemma took a long drink of her beer. He narrowed his eyes but said nothing. The wind blew and a sudden, sharp pain made Jemma gasp.
Looking down, she saw a sand rash marred the skin around her hip bone. JJ’s eyes followed hers and he rolled his eyes.
“That’s what you get for being a dumbass,” he said, but then he stepped forward and took the beer can from her. “We should get this cleaned out.”
“It’s a burn, not a bullet hole,” Jemma said with a roll of her eyes.
“It looks pretty bad, Little J,” John B said, walking over to her and JJ. She looked up at met his concerned look. “We should get you home
“Okay,” she said, her voice cracking.
“Okay,” JJ mocked her voice. Jemma slapped her hand against his shoulder. “Ow! What the hell!”
“You’re a douche,” Jemma snapped. JJ sneered.
“Well, you’re stuck with me.”
“I’ll help you to the car,” John B interrupted.
“No!” Jemma and JJ both shouted at the same time.
“I can walk perfectly fine,” Jemma tried to say in a calmer voice, offering John B an apologetic smile.
“You’re not touching my sister with a ten foot pole,” JJ warned, pointing a finger at his best friend.
“Would you knock it off?” Jemma shoved her brother back. JJ was about to retaliate when Pope and Kie stepped in.
“Alright, you two,” Kie said, putting her hands on Jemma’s shoulders and pulling her backward. It wasn’t a rare occurrence for Jemma and JJ to fight, in fact, it happened almost every time they hung out with the Pogues. It was just life with the Maybank twins.
By the time John B’s van rattled to a stop at the Chateau, the argument between Jemma and JJ was completely forgotten. They were chatting back and forth about whatever dumb movie they had stolen from the abandoned Blockbuster even as the entire group clambered out of the car.
“I gotta go get this cleaned up,” Jemma said, covering her sand rash to keep the wind off of it. She wasn’t a pussy, but sand rashes hurt like a bitch.
“You got to tutor today?” JJ asked as she headed off toward the house.
“Yup. In about an hour.”
“Your nails aren’t done.”
Jemma felt herself smile. Ever since their stupid argument about nail polish, JJ had knicked a few bottles from the Kook cougars he worked for to give to her. It was an olive branch gesture, one that made Jemma smile just thinking about.
“Don’t have time for it today,” she told him. JJ shrugged his shoulders, trying to seem like he didn’t care. “But I’ll paint them tonight when I get back, yeah? That blue color was really nice.”
He perked his head up and a hint of a smile crossed his face. The others weren’t entirely sure what was going on, but they knew it to be a Maybank Moment. These moments usually followed a fight, so they weren’t really surprised.
Trotting up the porch steps and into the house, Jemma couldn’t help her smile. There was a small part of her that was giddy. Even though it was only her fifth time going over to Kelce’s to help him study, she found herself looking forward to it. Maybe it was because she could almost convince herself that she was living like Kook for three hours. Maybe it was because when Kelce looked at her, he didn’t see the damaged goods from the cut that she saw in the mirror.
After cleaning her sand rash, Jemma threw on a new outfit, something a little nicer than before that covered up the beating her body took from the ocean. Saying a quick goodbye to her friends, she took off toward Figure Eight.
She wasn’t even the least bit nervous knocking on Kelce’s door that night. It was later than she usually went over, but he had texted her the day before asking to change the times a bit. Jemma was more than happy to comply. It just meant that she could spend the rest of the day with her friends.
When he opened the front door, he was smiling. God, she loved his smile.
“Hi,” he said, leaning his hand against the door. Jemma couldn’t help the stupid grin on her face.
“Hi.”
He just watched her for a moment as she tapped her fingers against the back of her hand. Then he suddenly cleared his throat and opened the door even more.
“Come in.”
Jemma stepped inside, immediately kicking off her shoes and setting her bag on the counter.
“So, what are we studying to-”
“Are you fucking kidding me?”
A shout from another room in the house startled Jemma. She jumped, turning her concerned gaze toward Kelce, who grimaced.
“A few of the boys are over,” he explained slowly, tucking his hands into his pockets. Jemma raised her eyebrows as her pulse started to slow back down to normal.
“Is this why you pushed the time back?”
Kelce stepped toward her in a hurried attempt to cover for himself.
“You’ve been helping me out so much I just wanted to give you a break in return for all your help,” he said. Jemma almost laughed.
“Kelce, your parents literally pay me to be here. I don’t need you to do anything else for me,” she told him. For a brief second, there was almost something like hurt behind his eyes, as if wondering whether or not she would still come if the money stopped flowing into her bank account.
“I just want you to meet my friends.”
“I know your friends. We don’t get along.”
“It’s just a few guys. They’ll be cool, I swear!”
Jemma eyed him carefully, but she heard the desperation behind his words. She wasn’t sure what came over her that made her finally nod her head with a sigh. It didn’t matter which of Kelce’s friends were over, there was no way this was going to end well.
He gestured toward the living room and Jemma let him lead her there.
“Fuck you!” the same voice from before screamed. Jemma saw the TV and the game that was on before she saw who was watching. Clearly, the game was not going in their favor. But then she saw Rafe Cameron and Topper Thornton sitting on Kelce’s couch. Fear immediately rose in her stomach at the sight of them, her eyes going wide.
“Shit, shit, shit!” She seethed, moving out of the doorway and behind a wall. With a scowl on his face, Kelce followed after her.
“Jemma, what-”
“You didn’t say your friends were Topper and Rafe,” she whispered, her chest heaving.
“I said a few guys.” Jemma shut her eyes and leaned her head back against the wall. “What’s going on?”
Jemma tried to steady her breathing before answering. She popped one eye open only to see Kelce watching her with a worried look on his face. She let out a deep sigh and pulled him farther away from the living room.
“You have to swear to never repeat to anyone what I’m about to tell you,” she said, her voice low. Kelce nodded his head.
“What happens in the house stays in the house,” he said, repeating one of Jemma’s rules. Jemma swallowed a hard lump in her throat, cringing as she tried to build up the courage to say what she was about to say.
“Okay.” She put her shaking hands up and took a deep breath in through her nose. “Don’t be mad at me.”
“Why would I be mad?”
“Because I’m about to tell you something that might ruin your perception of me.”
“Nothing could do that.”
Jemma ignored the way her heart spiked. She heaved out a sigh, tapping her head against the wall again. There was no easy way to say what she was about to say.
“JJ and I got into an argument once a few months back. A bad one,” she started, peering back at the entrance to the living room as if waiting for someone to walk right through. “He wouldn’t let me run off with this touron I met at a party. I was angry as hell and horny as hell and drunk as hell, so I did something I knew would royally piss him off.”
Kelce scowled, still not really understanding. Jemma was hoping that she could get him to understand without spelling it out completely, but it didn’t appear to be working.
“I found the one guy I knew would make my brother the angriest and I…” She trialed off, gesturing with her hand until Kelce got the picture. She watched him press his lips into a fine line. “Not my proudest moment, but-”
“Who was the guy?” Kelce asked, his voice as quiet as hers was. Jemma swore quietly to herself. He was really going to make her say it, wasn’t he? She bounced a few times before blurting the name out as quickly as she could.
“Rafe.”
“Oh, my god, Jemma!”
“Shh!” She hissed desperately, pressing her hand to Kelce’s mouth and turning to make sure no one heard. “I told you not to be mad!”
Kelce swatted her hand off of his mouth.
“I’m not mad...I’m just….” Kelce put a hand on his head before dropping it back to his side. Jemma grimaced at the expression on his face. “You’re a fucking minor, Jemma. And he’s-”
“I know!” Jemma wrapped her arms around her stomach. “It was a mistake.”
“A one time mistake?”
Jemma set her jaw, starting to bounce again. She got bouncy when she was nervous.
“A multiple time mistake.”
“Oh, god.”
“So, now you know why I can’t go in there, right?” She was begging him to understand, to just let her walk away. She hadn’t seen, let alone spoken to, Rafe since their last hook up a month or so ago. She wasn’t really intended on tonight being that night. Kelce turned away from her, his hands on his hips. He was reacting almost as badly as she expected JJ too. She wasn’t sure why he was so upset by it. At least, she told herself she didn’t.
“I thought you hated him,” Kelce said, turning back to look at her. Jemma chewed on her lip, holding her arms tighter.
“I hate his guts, but….” She trailed off, letting out an embarrassed breath. Her words grew quieter. “I also have a bad habit of letting him rearrange my guts.”
Kelce scoffed and Jemma grimaced. That was the worst possible way she could have said it. It seemed like every time she opened her mouth, she was just making things worse. If only she could just dig a hole and bury herself deep inside. She would rather be literally anywhere other than where she was now.
“It’s not like I actually like him, or anything.” She was still trying to defend her actions for whatever reason. She just couldn’t bear to have Kelce thinking that she was easy like everyone else did. The thought forced tears into her eyes. “It was just-”
Kelce lifted his hand and Jemma swallowed her words. His eyes were closed, pinched shut. She waited for him to explode, to scream at her, call her a whore, maybe even shove her around. It was what she expected from men. She messed up and they came for her, tooth and nail.
But Kelce never even curled his hands into fists. He waited to talk until his breathing was steady, until the confusion and anger were gone from his face. Then he opened his eyes slowly to look at her.
Jemma hadn’t realized how tense she was, waiting for an attack, until Kelce lifted his hand to rest on her shoulder and she flinched. He pulled his hand back, a concerned look on his face as he leaned away from her.
“I’m not going to hurt you,” he said, his eyebrows pinching together.
“I...I should go.” Jemma took a few steps to the side before starting for the front door.
“Jem...wait.” Kelce caught her by the wrist, his grip gentle. Still, she spun around ready for the attack that she still expected to come. Her eyes were wide, her breathing heavy. “You wanna get out of here? Go somewhere quieter?”
Jemma’s body relaxed out of surprise and she scowled.
“What?”
“I’m not mad at you, Jemma. You’re entitled to live your own life. I was just shocked is all.”
Jemma kept her scowl for a few more moments even as he dropped his hand from her wrist. She was trying to figure out what his angle was. There had to be a reason he was doing this, saying the things he was saying. There had to be a reason he was talking so softly, so gently.
Her dad used to do it a lot when she was younger. Pretend he wasn’t mad just so he could explode later. Get her crying in his arms before throwing her to the floor. Make her think she was safe and then….
She couldn’t help but wonder if Kelce was doing the same thing now. It took her a few pondering moments to decide that he wasn’t.
Stepping out of her defensive stance, she kept a small scowl on her face, just in case.
“Sure.”
At her acceptance of his offer, Kelce smiled. It wasn’t the same, wide smile as before, but he was happy to hear her response. He walked her back to the front door, sending one last look back toward his friends.
“Will they miss you?” Jemma asked as she stepped into Kelce’s car, her legs still shaking ever so slightly. Kelce shrugged and shut her door for her.
“Not likely.”
Jemma rolled down the window, hoping that the cool evening air would be enough to calm her nerves.
“So,” Kelce said, one hand resting lazily on the wheel and his other hanging out his open window. “Rafe.”
Jemma scoffed and rolled her eyes, a small, cringing smile on her lips.
“I ended it,” she said, refusing to look at him as she watched the rich people houses dash by in a blur. “It felt wrong, lying to my brother all the time.”
“I thought you did it to piss him off.”
“Yeah, I did, but I didn’t want to get Rafe murdered because I was being petty.”
To Jemma’s surprise, Kelce actually laughed. It was a nice sound, like the waves against the shore. No, something softer than that but just as powerful.
“And,” Jemma continued, though she didn’t know why. “It made me feel like...like the things people said about me were all true.”
“What things?”
It was Jemma’s turn to laugh, but hers was bitter, accompanied by a roll of her eyes.
“You know.” Kelce glanced over at her and gave his head a little shake. “That I’m easy. That I’ve got daddy issues and that means I’ll let anyone in my pants. That my dad….” She paused. “Whore, slut, homewrecker, the whole nine yards. You’re telling me that you’ve never heard anyone say that about me?”
Kelce shrugged his shoulders, but Jemma knew he was lying. She let out a heavy breath.
“Fine,” Kelce said. “I’ve heard it all. But I never believed it.”
Jemma raised her eyebrows, leaning back against her seat and looking at him as she propped a foot up onto the dashboard.
“Really?”
“Yeah.” Kelce fixed his eyes on the road. “Most decent guys don’t believe it when someone says stuff like that about a girl.”
“Most decent guys wouldn’t touch me with a ten foot pole.”
Jemma’s mind went back to the beach, to John B’s offer to help her, to JJ telling him off by saying the same thing. She scrunched up her nose and looked down at her hands. Never before had any of these words ever left her mouth before, to anyone, not even her closest friends, her family. How was it that Kelce had managed to pry it out of her after only knowing her for a few weeks?
“I haven’t seen my parents in two months,” Kelce said suddenly. He didn’t tear his gaze from the road even as Jemma looked up at him. “They’ve been contacting you from somewhere in Europe.”
“Kelce, you don’t have to-”
“No, you bore your soul to me. I just want you to know that you can trust me with these things.” He looked over at her finally. “So, I’m trusting you. My parents pay so little attention to me, the only reason they know that my grades were as low as they were was because I told them.”
Jemma felt her jaw tense, her throat starting to swell.
“I’m sorry.”
Comforting people wasn’t her strong suit.
“It’s been this way all my life.” He shrugged. “Do you trust me yet?”
Jemma felt a smile pull at the edges of her lips, but she tried to hold it back.
“We’re getting there.”
“Friends?”
Jemma narrowed her eyes, pulling at her lip with her teeth as she mulled the idea over.
“Friends have nicknames for each other,” she said finally, crossing her arms. “I’ll call you Kellie.”
Kelce laughed.
“No way in hell!”
“I thought you wanted to be friends.”
“I do!” Jemma cocked an eyebrow. “Fine. You can call me Kellie. As long as I can call you Jem.”
Jemma felt her heart freeze in her chest. The only person who ever called her Jem was her mom. Jemma swore to never let anyone else call her that in case her mom ever came back and laid claim on the name once again. But her mom was gone. She was gone and she wasn’t coming back. Jemma had to realize it eventually.
“Deal.” Jemma finally let herself smile. “So, Kellie, where are you taking me?”
He gave her a mischievous grin before settling his gaze back on the road.
“I guess you’re just going to have to wait and see, Jem.”
“It better be good.”
“Oh, trust me, I’m sure you’ll love it.”
Jemma’s smile grew wider.

Home is where the plane is
Honestly no idea what this even is, nearly 5K of Daisy and Daniel just cause?
Wrote this out in an afternoon and haven't really gone over it, so may have some errors.
Enjoy!
Read below or at ff.net or AO3
A sharp knock on her bunk door drew Daisy out of her ravine, from the constant time looping to the way in which they had been able to break it had drained her physically, but even more so mentally. Once the others had been debriefed, more by Coulson than herself, she had slunk out for some peace, Enoch's words still screaming at the back of her mind.
"Yeah," Daisy answered evenly, unsurprised when the door opened, and Sousa entered.
"Just wanted to check in on you," he explained, taking in her quiet demeanour as she sat on the edge of her bed, legs drawn in close to her chest.
"Of-course you did," she shook her head, catching sight at his furrowed brow to her words, "it's just very time-loopy of you, well I guess, very you of you."
"I'm sorry about Enoch," he brushed past her odd comment, sitting alongside her in quiet comradely.
"He said this is the teams last mission together," she spoke after a few minutes, stretching her legs out as she turned her head slightly towards him, a sadness to her expression as she continued, "that we'll survive but the team won't."
"What do you think he meant by that?" he watched her closer as he questioned her statement, pushing aside the desire to pull her close and hold her tightly, he knew that it was not his place, not yet anyway.
"I, I don't know, maybe something happens, maybe SHIELD is different and doesn't let us stay a team, or maybe we change something and we don't even know each other when we get back to our time," the scenarios that had been running through her mind spilled out, her concern at the options evident as she fidgeted.
"This team is closer than most families, I'm sure whatever happens, you'll still have each-others backs," he told her optimistically, neither really had any idea what type of future they would go back to, especially not someone who had ever been there.
"They're the only family I've ever had, this plane, it's the only home I've had, I don't know how to give that up," her words breaking the little self-control he had, as he reached a hand across to hers, her fidgeting stopping instantly.
"They'll still be your family even if the team doesn't do anymore missions together," he tried to reassure her, stroking her hand with his thumb as he filed away the little bits of information she had let slip out amongst her statements.
Staring straight ahead, she could feel his eyes on her, watching, making sure that she was okay, as always. Maybe it was watching her friends die over and over, or watching her friend die for real, but it gave her a need to live in the moment more than she usually would, to take a risk she wouldn't normally – sure she had acted more freely in the time loop, but she knew that would reset and he wouldn't remember. There had been a type of power in that, that she could see how he would react, how she would feel, when she questioned him, all while knowing and receiving the same response, a power that allowed her to be more open with him than normal.
Turning to him, she saw the question in his silence as she leant toward him, her hands reaching his collar as she chastely kissed him, drawing back almost instantly to give him a chance to take her move in, after all he didn't have memories of their loop conversations like she did. The surprise in his eyes turning to hunger just as quick as the time before, as he pulled her closer to him, hands already on her waist before she had realised he had even moved them, initiating a second, deeper kiss, one that wasn't bound by the same time restraints as in the loop.
"Probably fair to tell you that that happened in the time loop," she told him as they paused for moment, "only once, that I remember anyway."
"Anything else that happen that I should know about?" he chuckled, his wrist resting on her should as he played with the hair he had messed with his hand.
"You died, but we all pretty much did a number of times," she threw out nonchalantly, the memory still fresh in her mind, along with the memory of him once again sleeping at her side in the reset; alive and well.
Using the hand still on his collar, she practically dragged him back onto her bed, his hands slipping under her black top, leaving a trail of fire on her skin at the contact, the new position allowing them to sink deeper into the kiss. He pulled away slightly, to her annoyance, until she felt his lips on her neck, the shift in focus giving her a chance to work on undoing the buttons on the blue shirt she had spent a little to long in the loops appreciating.
They both jumped at the sound of May's voice coming through the ship's speakers, requesting everyone's attendance to a team meeting, Daniel straightening up so quickly that Daisy couldn't help but smile. -----------------------------------------------------------
"We didn't interrupt anything did we?" May asked with her usual even tone, as they entered the lab, the glint in her eye gaining her a glare in return from woman in question.
"What's going on? Daisy asked, brushing past the question as she looked around for the next issue at hand as she stopped alongside the labs bright table, "what time are we in now?"
"We look to be just a couple months from when we last jumped," Simmons spoke up, a tablet in hand ready to show her workings should anyone want further information on her statement.
"Which means that we…" Yo-Yo trailed off, glancing to May for help in explaining the situation.
"Which means what?" Daisy questioned, glancing between the two women that seemed to be at the forefront of her summoning's, "what are you all not saying?"
"I promised Jiaying that we would help with Nathaniel and Kora," May informed her, the older agent spoke in no major hurry to elaborate.
"Obviously, we would, clearly he has teamed up with Sybil," Daisy pushed in an annoyed tone, wishing that they would be more direct with her, but also apprehensive of where the topic was going, a slight glance to Sousa who was standing quietly next to her told her that he was unsure as well.
"It's just that to do that, she'll have to come onto the Zephyr," everyone's attention turning on Daisy the moment May got to the point, watching, waiting for what her reaction would be.
"Can't you just meet up with her on the ground? Or on the quin jet?" Daisy questioned, the unease at the idea bristling under her skin.
"We've already given them the co-ordinates," Mack spoke evenly, his tone and crossed arms leaving no room for further discussions on the topic.
"So, this isn't you guys asking me, this is you telling me," Daisy stated, her tone level and cold, gaining her a hint of surprise or concern, or something else that she couldn't quite pinpoint from the man still standing a fraction to close to her side.
"If there was any other way, but we just can't risk it, I don't have to tell you want happens if she dies," Coulson explained with a bit more tact.
"I won't be born," the young agent sighed, knowing it wasn't a fight she was going to win.
"That's not a risk I am willing to take," Coulson stated warmly, his head half-cocked with a small smile as he attempted to bring her on board with the plan.
"Bringing her on here could risk that still," Daisy countered, raising her eyebrow as she stared him down.
"The chances are better this way though," Simmons spoke up as she continued playing with the screen in front of her, "they've just arrived."
"We'll go get them," May stated, nodding for Yo-Yo to follow, figuring some familiar faces would help the situation.
"You guys really couldn't give me more warning?" Daisy asked, crossing her arms as she leant forward to talk in a quieter tone.
"They were worried you would talk them out of it," Deke told her before he realised what he was saying, his eyes going wide when he backtracked in his mind.
"Deke," Simmons exclaimed, glaring her grandson down before putting on her fake, supposedly calming smile and turned back to her friend, "we didn't have the time too."
"You only had, what, two minutes to tell me, was five too much to ask for?" Daisy hissed back, her words lacking any real anger as she had already accepted what was happening, not that she got much of a choice, as she uncrossed her arms to lean on the lap table instead.
"Play nice," her best friend shot back with a laugh, glancing up towards the door to watch their incoming arrivals, clocking the way that Sousa placed a gentle hand on the Daisy's arm in comfort.
"And this is the team," Yo-Yo explained, catching the unease in the air as they joined back with the group and hoping their companions would not.
"Hi, Jemma Simmons," Simmons jumped to greet the guests, her politeness pushing aside any of the room's bad energy, "and this is Deke."
"That's Mack, Phil Coulson, Daniel Sousa, and –" May continued the introductions, hesitating for a moment, realising there could be an issue with giving out the final member of the teams name to the past version of her mother.
"And I'm Skye Sousa," Daisy smiled politely, using the first thing that came to mind, the team's eyes flying to her and the man she had just roped into a marriage with her; his closeness to her and his hand on her arm playing into it enough that her statement wouldn't be questioned from the apparent strangers.
"Thank-you all for this, we were starting to worry we might not hear from you again," Jiaying told them, unfazed by the team's demeanours as she got to business instead, "but from the look on all your faces, you have had your own worries to deal with."
"You could say that," Simmons responded, nodding at her words, "but we did honestly come as quick as we could."
"Where exactly did you come from?" Gordon pressed further, unhappy with the lack of information being shared.
"It's a long story," Mack stated firmly, putting an end to the questioning.
"I've seen a lot in my time, but nothing like this plane," Jiaying moved on, understanding the tone of the room as she looked around it, her eyes settling on the younger woman across from her, "Skye, you have powers as well?"
"Yeah," Daisy drew her answer out hesitantly, making no move to demonstrate.
"Your friend was very tight lipped about where she got her's from, but you, there's something about them, you got through a diviner and a Cree temple didn't you?" Jiaying getting to the outcome quicker than the team liked, especially the one in question.
"Not by choice, but yes," Daisy responded honestly, trying to keep the bite from her tone as she instead tried to focus on the reassuring lines that Daniel's thumb was drawing on her arm.
"That has not been done in a very long time, it must have been very difficult to locate, how did you manage it?" Jiaying exclaimed, genuine interest and amazement blocking her concern for the tone to the responses she was gaining.
"It's complicated," Daisy stated coldly, bringing a silence over the room, and ending the questioning.
"Right, so we have been trying to locate either Kora or Nathaniel but not having much luck, any ideas where she might have gone to lay low?" Simmons switched the subject quickly, giving her friend a gentle smile.
"No, but I also never knew she would turn to the dark side so easily, I have spent her whole life trying to protect her," Jiaying responded, accepting the change with a polite ease.
"Maybe she needed to be taught to control her power not to fear it," Daisy stated evenly, knowing first-hand what it could do to you when the thing you feared was yourself.
"I tried, but everyone else was getting more and more afraid of her, which made her worse," her mother reasoned, the care and concern in her voice just working to anger Daisy further.
"Did you ever think about taking her away from Afterlife?" May cut in before a response could be voiced, a firm stare given towards the younger agent.
"Many times, but as I'm sure you all would know, people are either afraid of us or want to use us as weapons," Jiaying spoke sadly, she might not yet have been fully against everyone not powered, but for the team that knew her future they could sense the anger and hatred under there even now.
"Well we were designed to be weapons," Daisy stated casually, catching the eye of the man next to her, knowing he was paying close attention to the whole conversation and remembering he knew very little about any of the inhuman stuff.
"Some powers are more dangerous than others, but it is a gift, not a curse," the un-aging woman's sentence coming out as if she had said it a million times.
"That doesn't change the fact we were literally meant to be used for weapons, even your powers, they might seem harmless enough, but you can drain the life out of people," Daisy informed her matter-of-factly, she had after all felt those powers first hand but she knew it best to leave that particular part out.
"How do you know that?" her mother's tone went dark for a moment, the knowledge of what she could do troubling her, before she regrouped herself and continued, "regardless, that's not the belief that we choose at Afterlife."
"It's not a belief, it's just a fact," Daisy shrugged, turning to her team for support.
"She's right, the Cree who created the mutation in the first place told us," Coulson backed her up.
"You've met the ones that started this all?" Jiaying questioned, her interest peaked at the new information.
"Along with the monster meant to lead us to battle," Simmons shuddered at the memories, her tone enough to drop any further questions from their guests.
"Even if that is what we were first meant for, it's up to us to decide what it means now," Jiaying fell back to her almost cult sounding words.
"And that's not always the right choice," Daisy fired back.
"Alright, how about we all get some rest, I think we all need it," Simmons put a stop to the conversation at hand, deciding it best before something was said that might trip them all up, "May, if you could be so kind as to show our guests to their rooms."
Watching them leave, Daisy moved towards a closed laptop nearby, waving off Sousa as she did, she needed a moment to herself, to process and the best way she knew how was to hack. She could feel her best friend watching her closely, a warmth to her mothering that she couldn't help but wonder if she would feel once the mission was done and Enoch's truth came to light.
"That means everyone," Simmons scolded her with a soft smile.
"I'm just going to run through some of the cities networks, see if I can get into any," Daisy explained, returning her smile, "and then I promise to leave." -------------------------------------
Opening her bunks door, Daisy stilled for a moment at the sight of Daniel lying on her bed, flicking through some files he must have come across somewhere. His eyes catching hers as she entered, and she held back a head shake at the fact he was once again, always there.
"Mack told me to stay here, you know, to keep up your lie about us being married," he explained his presence, watching her carefully, not fully sure where they stood with each other right now.
"Right, sorry about that, I didn't think she should know my real name, and I didn't know what else to say," Daisy rambled her excuse off, smirking at him as she lowered herself down next to him, "though, really you started it by telling Gideon you were my fiancé like a decade ago."
"That would be a very long engagement," Daniel agreed with her reasoning, eyes narrowing as he asked the question that had been bugging him the most, "why Skye?"
"I went by that for a long time, I didn't know my real name and the orphanage gave me a terrible one, so I made my own," she told him after a moment, quieter than she had been and pulling her legs to her chest as she spoke.
"It's a nice name," his words kind as he focused on the positive, knowing she had gone through too much the last few days to want to delve into the rest of her statement.
Humming in response, she stared at the files he had been reading, her mind to busy to be able to focus on them, but after a few moments of silence, she turned away. Taking the hint, he went back to his reading, far from wanting to push her into anything and just thankful she seemed willing to let him stay, willing to let him be there for her and part of him wondered just what they had discussed in the time loops; at the very least, what had made her kiss him, not that he was complaining.
"The last time I saw her, my father killed her because she was trying to kill me," Daisy broke her own silence, the words coming out before she had decided if she was ready to share them, "she wanted to kill a lot of people and thought I would help her."
"That's horrible," he placed the files on the bedside table and reached for her hand, her fingers wrapping around his slowly as if she wasn't quite convinced that she should reach out to him.
"She had a lot of terrible stuff done to her, and I've always tried to convince myself that that excuse was enough, enough to explain how she was when I met her and what she did to me, I mean she apparently searched for me my whole life and yet was willing to kill me," she found that once she started talking, she was struggling to stop, he was just too easy to talk too, "but I have had terrible, terrible things done to me, and yes, I've done bad things, but I've always ended up doing the right thing, or at least I hope so, and I mean it just makes me think her excuses don't quite cut it, you know."
"And now to learn she had another daughter, that I've got a half-sister, one that she actually raised, and that one jumped to the wrong side so quick, and it makes me wonder, am I just fighting a loosing battle? Am I just one bad thing away from switching sides too? Deke's future knows me as the Destroyer of Worlds, so maybe it's not that big of a jump," she kept talking, "I've done some real bad things Daniel, you have no idea, maybe I'm not that much different than her. But seeing her like this, seeing her as a good, nice mother, it just makes it so much harder, maybe I was the one that come into her life and ruined it, that is my specialty, so how can I claim to be one of the good guys?"
"You are a good person, Daisy," he stated soundly, he had wanted to interject so many times through her rambling, but he could sense that she wasn't looking for a response, she just needed to talk.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to just unload on you," she sighed, refusing to meet his eye, but relishing in the warmth from his hand holding her tight.
"Daisy, I'm pretty sure you're the strongest person I've ever met, leaning on someone else doesn't make you weak," he told her honestly, squeezing her hand as if to back his statement.
Blinking away the tears that had started to form, she turned to him, her eyes trained on his as she tried to determine if she could believe him or not. Leaning forward, she closed the gap between them, kissing him firmly, a part of her hating how needy she could feel she was, but she needed this, she needed him, more than she could admit to even herself.
He rolled her onto her back, his lips never leaving hers as she set about undoing his shirt, his hand wrapped around the back of her head, tangled amongst her hair as his other slipped under her top and to the side of her waist, her hands dropping down to help him lift the plain black top up and over her head. She used the extra space the move created between them to push his now undone shirt off his shoulders, humming in annoyance when he used the space to pull away further.
"Are you sure you want this? You don't seem like you're in the best head space," he questioned, slightly out of breath, but ever the gentleman.
"Not sure if you've noticed, but I'm never really in a good headspace," she smirked back at him, nodding at his question nonetheless, pulling him back down to her level.
----------------------------------
"How long have you been up?" Yo-Yo asked, entering the gym with May following close behind, the two having planned a sparring session the night before that Daisy recalled had, while doing her hacking, overheard them fight over the start time of, won of course by May.
"I was checking on my hack and saw Jiaying heading to the kitchen, so here I am, hiding on a treadmill," Daisy huffed out a laugh, slowing the machine down to a walking speed.
"You seem in a better mood today," Yo-Yo grinned at her, whether implying something or just glad that her friend was happier, Daisy couldn't quite pinpoint.
"It was the first time in what seems like a very long time that I've woken up – " Daisy started, only to be interrupted before she could complete her response.
"We don't need to know what you woke up to," May smirked at her, her words catching an odd look from Yo-Yo as she tried to unpack them.
"That I've woken up not in the time loop," Daisy glared back, not playing into the older woman's trap, she could admit to herself that waking up next to Daniel had definitely also added to her good mood, but she was not about to admit that to her current companions.
"What is May talking about?" Yo-Yo asked, switching her focus between the two as she came to her own conclusion, "has she been doing her creepy empathic thing with you and Sousa?"
"Wait, what?!" Daisy near yelled, suddenly worried about what exactly her friend meant.
"Oh, come on, everyone can see the way he follows you around, and that you don't seem to mind," Yo-Yo explained her reasoning, smirking at her friend as she chose to ignore the bigger question for her statement regarding May.
"What did she mean May?" Daisy stopped the treadmill completely, feeling the dread come over her that she could only imagine was how teenagers felt when they were caught by their parents.
"It's okay, it doesn't reach through to your room," May let her off the hook quickly, shaking her head at the thought.
"Why not?" Yo-Yo asked, confused at the turn of events, but more interested in the answer.
"My room is lined with stuff to stop me from causing issues on the plane if I lose control of my powers again, so I'm guessing that stops your empathic stalking?" Daisy grinned, relief flooding over her as she started the machine back up to a light jog speed.
"Yes, thank god," May shared in her relief, she would have been feeling it had she been able to feel and it was refreshing for the emotion she felt to be fitting to what she was thinking.
"How do I get that? I told Mack and he's now traumatised," Yo-Yo exclaimed, making a mental note to bring it up with Simmons later as she quickly realised that although the other two knew of the lining, they weren't the type to have questioned what it was.
"Good, that would be too weird," Daisy smirked, making no move to dispel any beliefs that they had formed regarding her and Sousa, something not lost on the other two, "you're like my mum."
"Plus, I've seen you have nightmares, I don't want to feel those," May deadpanned, turning back to square up with Yo-Yo.
"Real supportive May," Daisy grinned back, expecting nothing less, but thankful now that those nightmares had gotten her at least some privacy.
"May, supportive? Feel's like we are interrupting something," Coulson joked from the doorway, flanked by Deke and Sousa.
"Yo-Yo was wanting to do some redecorating," Daisy stated quickly, making sure to get in first before any comments were made as she smiled in greeting to the men, her eyes resting on Daniel's for a moment longer than the rest, his trailing over her as she ran, gaining him a smirk in response.
"Oh, well if you want me to pick you up anything, actually here to see if anyone had anything they wanted added to my list as I'm heading out for a supply run," Deke informed them, missing the shared glare amongst the women.
"Jiaying's making breakfast," Coulson told them, his eyes narrowed on one in particular.
"I saw, hence the early morning workout," Daisy nodded, making no effort to hide the fact she was hiding in a gym.
"There are a few things you could get me actually, Deke," Yo-Yo stated as she stopped the sparring with May to write a list.
"Make sure to put some things for Daisy too," May told her, a grin on her face that put the woman in question on edge as she once more slowed her treadmill down to a walk.
"Oh, no, it's fine, she already told me," Deke brushed it off quickly, the underlying conversation of the room completely lost on him.
"Did she now?" Yo-Yo looked up from her writing with a smirk, sharing a look with the other two women.
"Yeah, I've got the sniffer devices and the list of the locations to plant them, it's like basic level hacking, super easy," Deke rattled off the information as if she had drilled it into him.
"Oh, right," Yo-Yo responded as she returned to her list, biting back a chuckle.
"See, I knew you three would be up to no good, what's going on here?" Coulson questioned them all, clearly not buying their poor attempt at hiding the previous topic.
"If you must know," May started, glancing between the two women either side of her as she could feel one's worry and the other's amusement at the turn of events.
"I don't think he does," Daisy stated quickly, her eyes narrowing on the older agent.
"My new empathic abilities, well, they have some side effects, and turns out I can also feel other people's, you know, alone time together," May explained with a grin, watching as everyone around her went dead still and slightly pale at her words.
"What now?" Deke asked, shuffling uncomfortably at the new information and wishing he had not been in the conversation at all as he looked between the unmoving Coulson, who was opening and closing his mouth as if he was actually lost for how to respond, and the small woman across from them, amused by the control she had over the room.
"They really don't want to know this May," Daisy stated sternly, giving a slight shake of her head to the now frozen Daniel, clearly very unsure of how he should proceed.
"So, I picked up on Yo-Yo and Mack's reunion and that's why Mack won't make eye contact with me anymore," May told the group, deciding to leave out the part about Daisy and Sousa, as she thought he might actually be good for her.
"We did not need to know that," Deke stated, turning, and leaving the moment that he got the list from Yo-Yo.
Simmons voice coming through the intercom interrupted anyone from commenting further, the break in the rooms focus gave Daisy a chance to mouth thank-you to May, before grinning at Daniel as he took a visible breath. Stepping off the treadmill, she made a move to follow the small group out of the room, falling into line next to Daniel with a quiet 'I'll explain later', she watched the team merge into one big group, one big family and couldn't seem to shake the tinge of sadness over Enoch's warning.

Catching up with the 30 days Aos challenge, Day 25: Funniest scene(s).
I think at this point you already know it's not easy for me to just chose one answer. But this time I'm not even trying because this is so much fun!
Spoiler alert: I just rewatched season 2 so there will be a lot of that.
Skye: "Just say something" - Jemma (to Sitwell): "You certainly have a gorgeous head, don't you?"
Tumblr media
Undercover Simmons improvising:"You never had time for her, but you made time for your work and your prostitutes!" - Coulson: "Prostitutes? Plural?"
Hunter: "I'm sorry, agent May" - May: "Don't be sorry, just wait."
Team reactions to May being undercover, laughing and flirting.
Skye: "Is she okay? Is everything okay?"
Skye: "She said more words than I've heard her say in a year." May: "I just have to say, philanthropy is my passion." Trip: "All right, Agent May!" Fitz: "That's very alarming."
Also, May herself in that episode: "I would pay you $500 right now for a pair of flats."
Tumblr media
Hunter: "guys, drop everything!" Fitz: "No, this is worth a fortune. I'm not gonna drop it."
Hunter: "Subtlety is key." - Bobbi: "You were dressed like a cowboy!"
Bobbi: "Drop the accent. It makes you sound like a douche bag." - Hunter:"Now you know what it feels like for me to live in this country."
When Hunter knocked down Banks to take a blood sample and his phone rang. Hunter: "I didn't do it! It wasn't me!" - Mack: "We know, it's a phone."
Mack and Elena being upset with Coulson not having his artificial accessorized hand. Yoyo: "So, wait, that one doesn't have a blowtorch or the laser gun or anything?" - Phil: "Okay, first of all: I'm not Inspector Gadget."
Mack: "You know what? You know what, Coulson? I'm out. I'm out. We get through this, I am packing it in." - Coulson: "Sorry, Mack. You already quit years ago. Mack:"Yeah, well, I didn't quit hard enough." (and now he's director, lol, poor turtleman)
Everything Mack said during the season 5 premiere is gold
Tumblr media
Hunter: "Rusty's the best getaway pilot money can buy. (Rusty crashes the helicopter) Well... the best getaway pilot my money could buy."
"That's the strangest thing I've ever heard. Except for the sexy robot that you made that became human and wanted you to stick the old floppy into her love drive."
Tumblr media
And of course Daisy and Simmons and Davis and Piper on alien drugs. Especially when Daisy couldn't find Jemma and started to narrate everything

Fitzsimmons Family Headcanons in case canon fails me
And before they destroy them. Buckle up.
(I wrote this in less than an hour and english is not my first language, sooo sorry for any mistakes)
Tumblr media
Edit: I re-posted it because it wasn’t showing up in the tags. sorry.
Enjoy! (Gift credit: X)
They finally decide to retire to their cottage.
Daisy and May lived with them for a while but at different times. Daisy around the time their first kid was born and May when the youngest was a kid already.
May and Daisy totally live together in the USA.
Fitzsimmons started a biomedical company, they make prostetics and medical supplies. They fund small researchers and become relatively known in the medical field (under aliases of course). They run their company from their home as much as they can.
Deke got bored of his company, so he eventually fused it with FS’s, he has enough money to travel around the world and be whatever he wants. Once was a TV chef, and he got bored and became a travel blogger, then launched a clothing line so it goes…
Tried to convince the team to turn their story into a broadway musical. They all said no. He brings it up everytime they are all together (you never know)
Fitzsimmons have three kids, they were all planned ;) of course
Daisy teases Fitz about how the three of them look like Jemma. “You are adopted”. the son is the only one who kinda looks like him. Fitz doesn’ t mind.
After the kids go their own ways they leave together again.
Have their own quinjet in case of emergencies, they say. Let’s be honest after years of flying with SHIELD, commercial flights lost their charm.
Look retired Fitzsimmons would be that kind of couple who travels the world together (properly this time), they say the quinjet is to visit their friends and Family around the world but would randomly send pictures of them in front of a famous landmark.
Mackenzie Skye Fitzsimmons (Daisy calls her Kye) (Born around 2021) (Quarantine baby) or (Timetravel baby)
They never asked Deke about their daughter’s name in the original timeline, but once they told him, judging by his reaction they knew it was this. (but in the lighthouse timeline her nickname was Kenzie)
Fitz was really adamant on this name, Jemma thought it was cute and a great way to honor their best friends, but years later he told the kid:
“you were named after two of the bravest persons I’ve ever met”.
Jemma just stared into the space as it dawned on her that her husband was really an idiot.
He winked at her and she forgave him. Eventually.
When she was a toddler Fitzsimmons moved back to the city and left their cottage, they wanted their daughter to have the best education and also didn’t want to wake her up early because the closest school was still an hour away.
Around that time Daisy found Bobbi, they met up, and Bobbi introduced her to her baby son Owen.
“oh my god. I need to call Fitzsimmons”
“what”
“shhhh. wait, it’s connecting... Hey guys! Look who is here! Bobbi and her baby Owen Shaw”
Fitz spits his tea all over his phone. Bobbi doesn’t know what’s going on, and they eventually explain it to her, well, after Daisy stops laughing and Fitz stops coughing.
Bobbi and Hunter had changed names and moved to England. After learning that Fitzsimmons live nearby, they make plans to see each other as much as they can. Look this is my headcanon AU so Fitzsimmons offer them positions in their company, Bobbi in the lab and Hunter in a made up security position that doesn’t fit his nametag.
Some weekends Fitz and Hunter take the babies to the park together, while Jemma and Bobbi work or hang out together. One day kye and Owen were playing and Owen proudly declared he was going to be an astronaut. Fitz was like “you and your son are the bane of my existence”.
The kids become best friends. Duh
BUT this is Bobbi and Hunter we are talking about, they’re nomads so they eventually move out around Europe and America, when the kid started high school they agreed to stay in one place.
Anyways,
Tumblr media
Amazing kid, took a while for her parents to figure out the whole parenting thing but she was so great, as long as things went her way.
Fitz can’t say no to her. A dog? We’ll manage. Ice cream for breakfast? c’mon you know how convincing she can be.
She is a really calm kid, well behaved. Responsible older sister, mom friend, but messy af. “look mom, I have a system and I know where everything is”.
Nicest kid you’ll ever meet, but if you mess with her siblings be careful, you never know if you will find trash in your backpack.
Tumblr media
She is an MD. Eventually, her parents moved back to the countryside but she stayed in the city with her sister to finish her education.
Makes friends everywhere she goes.
She and Owen started dating in their teens but were on and off several times, they even briefly dated other people because one of them would get scared of things becoming too serious (even more when they learned that Uncle Deke was genetically their son).
In their late twenties they decided to get married as a compromise to stay together and work things out, after all, some things are inevitable.
They had two kids: Daniel Shaw (Deke, but They wanted him to be his own person so they changed the name), Gabrielle Shaw (Born as Oliver Shaw)
Owen worked for a while for SWORD. Eventually decide to move to Germany to work as researchers.
Margaret Abigail Fitzsimmons (Maggie) (Born 2025)
Tumblr media
The odd one. Grew up to be a successful artist. Really independent as a child, could play hours by herself or caually chill around her parents or her brother’s crib.
Despite being the only one in her family who isn’t into science, she loves doing experiments all the time, in the name of aesthetic. One time turned the dog blue. There’s a fire extinguisher in the living room just because of her. Banned from her parents’ lab “Pretty colors can go boom”. Aparently.
After being constantly told she is diferent from the rest of her family, she feels happy when someone tells her she looks like her mom. She scoffs but she doesn’t really mind.
Tumblr media
Acts though but is a softie, vegan, activist, animal lover. Loves to tease everyone, prankster, makes fun of her mom but it’s the first person she thinks of when something troubles her. Late night calls are not unheard of.
Can’t commit to a single hobby. Photography, cooking, volunteer work... name something, and she has probably already tried it.
Really close to Deke, sometimes travels with him. They are kindred spirits. Feel like only them understand the need to explore and try new things.
She grew up to resent shield. Look she loves what her parents and their friends did, but hates how it affected them. Forgive and forget? in this economy??
Lives in Paris by herself but somehow always manages to get everyone to come to her art exhibits. You won’t be able to stop her once she sets her mind to something. Stubborn as her dad.
Doesn’t want kids, maybe one day if she feels ready she will adopt but she is happy as an aunt.
Matthew Phillip Fitzsimmons (Matthew) (Born 2030)
Tumblr media
Ray of sunshine, Momma’s boy. He loves it when his parents take him to their lab. Ever since he could walk he is always following his sisters around, if they are up to something he is the first one to know. They love to tease him, but he has enough blackmail material to get them to shut up. He would never use it tho.
Computer genius. He has his own video game company. Launched his first video game at 16. Fitz is mildly offended he sees the Framework code as “old stuff”.
He is a sweetheart, adores his parents and calls them every single day. He met his wife in college and has been happy ever since. It was fast and passionate, they got married within a year and a few years later they had a baby.
Truly an example of living fast.
Melissa Fitzsimmons (his daughter) a sweetheart, may is her godmother. (The babies’ baby’s baby, i cry). The cousins are thick as thieves.
May loves the kid, “age is making you softer”, Daisy tells her and laughs, May’s glare while holding a baby is too much for her.
Emma Johnson (born 2029) (the honorary fourth kid)
Tumblr media
Daisy’s daughter. Jemma cried when she told her the baby’s name. She wanted May and Jemma in the delivering room with her.
I can see Daisy being a badass single mother but I also see her finding love, I haven’t made up my mind but I think she will be loved either way.
Only child, so loves to hang out with the FS kids.
She and Matthew are best friends since they were little, even having video calls when they couldn’t see each other in person.
Fitz and Daisy had a bet on whether they would get together, but it was called off when it became apparent Emma wasn’t interested in men altogether. She was the first woman in his wedding.
The “Quake” legacy was too much for her so she decided to focus in something different. Currently works as an architect and on her spare time works as a freelance illustrator.
All I can imagine is a scene where the are all together in a field (probably the same one where they buried Coulson and Loop!Fitz) May, Fitzsimmons and Daisy. They try to meet up there at least once a year to chat and reminisce about old times, sometimes with Deke, Mack and Elena (and their twin boys) or just them.
Their kids are playing while their parents watch, but May’s watching them, with their backs to her they almost look like the kids she met in the bus all those years ago. Coulson would’ve been so proud, this is the future we were fighting for all along, she thinks.
“You did good”.
Daisy turns around with a soft smile on her face and says “yes, we did.”
The end

Wherever You Will Go (Ch. 2)
Fandom: Agents of Shield Pairing: Daisy x Daniel Rating: Teen and up Word Count: 2440 Summary:  The team spends a week relaxing. Daisy and Daniel get closer before they have the rug pulled out from under them. Author’s Note: Who else is surprised I've already got the second chapter ready? Just me? I might even have the third chapter up sometime tomorrow before the finale!!!Well here you go, lovely readers. I hope you enjoy! Comments are treasured!
Read Ch. 1
Chapter 2:
Over the next couple of days the team settles into a routine. Most mornings, Coulson has breakfast prepared for those who aren’t sleeping in, which is basically everyone except Deke. They watch movies and tv reruns from the stored collection they have, and they sit around answering Sousa’s questions about the 21st century. They take turns making meals, and May leads a few of them in Thai Chi lessons.
And every night, Daniel finds himself back in Daisy’s bunk, and every morning they wake up wrapped in each other’s arms. They haven’t done anything more than sleep next to each other, content for now with enjoying the safety and intimacy of the bubble they’ve created.
The decision to try and not take the next physical step comes to Daniel while sitting around with the guys drinking some gross beer called Zima. It’s their third night of floating through the temporal zone, and the girls are in another part of the Zephyr doing girly things, or so he was told by Deke. Mack and Coulson bring out a deck of cards, and they all sit down to an impromptu game of poker. At least this is one thing Daniel doesn’t have to be shown how to do.
“And there are hundreds of women and men, ready to swipe left or right on,” Deke explains enthusiastically.
“That sounds...overwhelming...and depressing,” Daniel comments. “Like it’s too easy.”
Coulson and Mack discreetly fist bump under the table.
“Well, when you come from a future where there’s the same thirty people to choose from for all of eternity, it’s easy to fall for the next new person.”
“I suppose that would make this online dating thing seem ideal,” Daniel responds.
“Yea, but is it really the same as meeting organically? Jemma and I were best friends for years before, you know...and now look at us. We’re stronger than ever,” Fitz adds.
“C’mon Bobo, you and nana are totally relationship goals, but you’re one in a million,” Deke says before dramatically folding. “The rest of us aren’t that lucky.”
Daniel thinks about the infinite ways his life could have gone, and acknowledges the rarity of the situation he’s in with Daisy. He leans forward and carefully pushes all of his chips into the center of the table.
“I’m all in.”
***
On the fourth day when Daniel wakes up, he wakes up alone. He throws on some clothes, and carefully makes his way through the ship in search of Daisy. He’s light on his feet in an effort not to wake anyone. Eventually he finds Daisy sitting in the cockpit next to Coulson, both of them staring out into the bright colors flashing beyond. He pauses as he hears their conversation.
“I just want to make him feel at home, and I figured you’d be the best person to ask, what, with your love of history and all,” he hears Daisy say.
“That’s a very sweet idea. I’m sure he’ll really appreciate it,” Coulson replies. “I think I have something in mind. How about after breakfast I go over the recipe with you?”
Daniel’s heart melts and he backs away from the bridge of the ship. Hopefully they don’t hear him on his way back to Daisy’s bunk. He settles back into the still warm bed, and when Daisy reappears ten minutes later, he pretends to wake up. He doesn’t spoil her surprise, and when she makes a lame excuse to leave his side after breakfast, he easily goes along with it.
That night Daisy leads him into the dining area with his eyes covered. He can smell something has been cooked, but he can’t quite place it.
“Surprise!” she yells as she lets her hands fall.
He opens his eyes to see a large dish of meatloaf and sides sitting in the middle of the table on display. The team is gathered around the table, all with varying degrees of concern on their faces.
“I thought I would cook something you’re used to from your time,” Daisy explains even though he already knows.
He acts surprised and squeezes her into a big hug before sitting down in front of the meal. They all dish out their servings, and one by one, Daniel watches all of them try to hide their initial reactions to the meatloaf. He mentally prepares himself as he takes his first bite, conscious of the fact that Daisy is watching his every move. He likes to think he does his best undercover work yet.
He enthusiastically gulps down the overly dry and salty concoction, and then lies through his teeth.
“It’s delicious! Just like home,” he tells her. He watches her clap her hands in excitement, and he thinks his parched mouth is worth it in the end to see her so happy.
He carefully stares at every other member of the team in warning, and they all start to sing their praises as they hastily dig into their meals.
Despite how awful it tastes, it’s still his favorite dinner to date.
***
“You mean to tell me that Daisy isn’t a part of this group of superheroes?” Daniel asks, befuddled one night.
Daisy laughs and snorts in derision. They’re passing around snacks, gathered in the common area with a large screen t.v.
“I’m not exactly Avenger-material. I was kind of a vigilante for a while there,” Daisy says with self deprecation.
“Honestly,” Fitz starts, “she’s been too busy saving the world on her own,” he comments.
“Oh, that’s sweet Fitz, and very true,” Jemma adds.
“Okay, first, that’s a major overstatement. I have not been doing anything on my own. I’ve had your help at every turn, and sometimes I’m the reason the world needs saving, so no, I’m not supposed to be an Avenger,” Daisy finishes.
Everyone except Daisy passes knowing glances back and forth, but decides to drop the subject.
“So Jemma, do you have any more pictures of Thor?” Yo-yo asks with a grin.
The men groan and the girls huddle around Jemma’s phone.
***
Daisy is sitting alone in her bunk on their sixth night in the Zephyr. While she has enjoyed, coveted even, her time with the team and Daniel, she can feel restlessness brewing in her gut. Her body is no longer aching and her mind is already planning all the things they need to take care of as a team when they return to the present time. She’s looking forward to going home, and focusing on her family, and herself.
That starts tonight. While Daniel has been off with Mack, Yo-yo, and May training and exercising his new prosthetic, Daisy has enjoyed some quiet moments of pampering. She has re-highlighted her hair blonde, and has chosen to add back her purple streaks. She thinks it’s the perfection combination of the edgy side of herself she has had to embrace over the years, and the young, hopeful girl she’s always been underneath. It absolutely has nothing to do with Daniel’s preferences.
She’s parting her hair in it’s signature look when someone knocks on her bunk door. She answers it and is surprised to see Daniel standing there in a suit holding a bouquet of paper flowers. His face is just this side of sheepish as he holds them out for her to take. Then he notices her hair and his smile goes wide.
“What are you doing?” she can’t help but ask.
“I would like to formally ask you to dinner, just the two of us.”
Daniel’s face is full of hope and anticipation, so she doesn’t hesitate to answer.
“I would love to,” she says, pausing to take the bouquet. “I’m assuming you weren’t really training this whole time.”
“That’s need to know,” he says smugly, and she can’t help but laugh out loud.
Thirty minutes later she meets him in the dining area, wearing a hastily put together outfit, including the yellow shirt she had from the 50’s, and a pencil skirt she borrowed from Jemma. She’s nervous, because when she starts to really think about it, this may be the first real date she’s ever been on. She’s always fallen into relationships rather impulsively, and this feels more like a conscious decision. For the first time, she really wants to actively make this work, and for the first time, she feels like she’s with someone who’s willing to put in the effort.
He’s pinned to the spot when he sees her walk in, and there’s a softness in his eyes as he looks her up and down. Then he walks up to her and takes her hands while leaning over to kiss her cheek. It sends goosebumps all the way down to her toes.
From there, he leads her over to a chair he pulls out for her, and slides her seat in. In a moment he is pouring her a glass of red wine, which she didn’t even know they had, and she’s looking down at a delicious, juicy looking burger. She has been dying for a hamburger, and she eyes him suspiciously, wondering how he knew. He smiles back at her mischievously.
The dinner is perfect, and so is the company. Towards the end of the meal, Daniel puts on some soft music, and they spend the rest of the night dancing close. When they kiss at her bunk door, it’s the most passionate to date. Her back hits the door as their hands explore and their lips nibble. He seeks out her neck, and she holds him in place, her fingers mussing up his hair.
Without looking, she slides her door open, and starts backing them into her room. He stops abruptly, pulling away from her as he catches his breath. His face is flushed from the wine, or their kissing...or maybe both.
“I think, maybe, I should sleep in my bunk,” he says regretfully.
“Are you sure?” she asks, slightly disappointed.
“Yea, I don’t think there’s an ounce of me that I could control tonight,” he says with a dopey, longing expression.
So he kisses her goodnight, and leaves her standing at her door with a dreamy look on her face. And for the first time they sleep in different beds, and she’s okay with that, because she really wants this to work.
***
On the seventh night, their bubble of happiness pops as they sit gathered together and listen to what Coulson learned in the time stream.
Some of them will be going back to 2019, instead of 2020, to be turned to dust by an egomaniacal tyrant, while others will be going to different periods in time.
When Coulson is done explaining everything, the room is silent before abruptly breaking out into discussions and arguments.
“Why can’t we all just jump to 2024?” Yo-yo asks.
“It’s not that simple,” Coulson starts. “From what I can understand, the only reason some of us weren’t snapped back in 2019 is because of another time loop. Some of us have to go back to that point in time to be snapped, so that the other past version of ourselves can stay there and take care of Izel, and find Fitz.”
“So you’re saying that if we go to 2020, instead of 2019, our past selves will be turned to dust, and Izel will succeed in taking over the Earth?” Mack asks for clarification.
“I’ve talked it over with Fitz, and we think it’s because the stones will always choose to snap the oldest version of ourselves,” Coulson explains.
“And Daisy has to be there, where the battle will take place, so that she can help fight this Thanos guy?” Daniel asks with concern.
Daisy chooses that moment to stand up abruptly, and leave the room. Daniel moves to follow her, but May has him hold off. “Not this time,” she tells him, before going to follow Daisy herself.
Daniel looks around the room brokenhearted.
“In every timeline I really cease to exist if I’m there for the snap? I won’t come back with everybody else in 2024?” he asks.
“In every timeline,” Coulson answers regretfully.
Coulson looks pensive for a minute, a fraction of doubt on his face, and Daniel jumps on it.
“What is it?” he asks.
“There’s a very, very small cha--” he starts, but Daniel cuts him off.
“I’ll do it, whatever it is, no matter how small of a chance,” he declares with determination.
“Let’s go over a plan,” Coulson responds with a knowing smile.
***
An hour later, Daniel is standing outside of Daisy’s door. Coulson lectured him at length about all of the unknown variables at play, how one move could completely change the course. They’re not only relying on themselves, but others to play their part. When Coulson and Daisy return to 2019, they can’t warn a single soul. They can’t guide the Avengers in any way. They have to let things run their course, or they could be responsible for Thanos winning in the long run, and Daniel will never see the 21st century.
With the weight of everything he knows on his shoulders, he knocks softly on her door.
“Come in,” he can hear muffled through the door.
He steps in and closes the door behind him. She stands up from where she had been sitting on the floor against her bed, and he can see the balled up tissues littered on the floor. Her eyes shine with more unshed tears, and something inside him snaps. They deserve one moment of happiness.
He steps into her space and kisses her hard, and his hands connect with her body, pulling her as close to him as possible. He gently backs her up, and they fall onto the bed. He glides his hands up and down her sides as he moves his lips from her mouth to her neck. He starts to pull up her shirt, but stops.
“Is this okay,” he asks, and she answers by lifting the shirt the rest of the way off and over her head.
She leans back into place with her hand gripping the front of his shirt. There are dried tear tracks on her face, and a quiet desperation in her eyes.
“I need you,” she says, and it sounds a lot more like she needs him not to disappear from her life forever, but for now, he’ll give her everything he has.
“I’ve got you,” he says as he leans down to kiss her once again.
Their last night on the Zephyr, they go to bed together, like so many times before, but this time, they don’t sleep.

Welcome Back to my Uncle Reacts to AoS--Season 3
It has taken my Uncle months to watch season 3 as his schedule is super busy and what not. But we have finally watched it all and are on to Season 4. Anyway, here are some of his reactions to the third season of Agents of Shield
3x1
*Fitz comes to the lab after his excursion in Morocco* Coulson is like a father waiting in the dark kitchen. Where’ve ya been, Fitz?
*After the Do something scene* Ouch.
Is she on another planet? She’s on another planet. Guys, she’s on another planet!
3x2
He got her back! Oh my god, he got her back. Fitz is the man.
Hunter is the best.
Bobbi is the best.
Fitz is the best.
Oh, Coulson.
*About Jemma* What the hell happened there? What did she eat? She was there months right? Holy shit.
*Fitz sitting by her bed* Oh, Fitz.
3x03
My aunt: you two seem sad. What happened. Steve: Lincoln, Kate. Lincoln killed his friend and he didn’t mean to. And Jemma has ptsd. It was a lot of emotion. My aunt: ...
3x04
Yess May. Great timing. That’s all you needed.
3x05
Dammit, Will is hot.
She’s talking to Fitz? Cute!
3x06
Pauses the show uhh, Andrew turned into lash and kicked some ass. Calling it.
*Later* Called it.
3x07
“He does have a hog face.”  Bwhahahaha. That’s amazing.
Well that episode was emotional. The Fitzsimmons thing was so heart warming. And poor May.
3x09
Ward, you asshole. Why can’t they let Phil be happy.
3x10
Shit that’s not Will.
*At Ward’s death* Finally!
*Wards back* Freaking knew it. God dammit
3x11
What is Fitz 3d printing back there? Cool inhuman conversation but what’s he making?
*Anytime the subtitles are wrong on Netflix* That’s not what she said. That’s not what he said. That’s not what they’re saying.
*Steve understanding the Spanish and knowing what they’re saying without subtitles.* That is not what she said, subtitles.
*About Elena* she’s a badass.
3x12
Thank god for Hunter.
Ward is just creepy as hell. I know that’s not Ward, but it’s his stupid face.
3x13
Amadeus Ravenclaw Hunter. That’s fantastic. Is that really his name? Wait, no. Forget I said that. Ravenclaw is not his name.
Wait, so Bobbi and Hunter are just gone? But they can’t do that. They come back right? They’re the best, they can’t leave.
Mack’s crying the hardest.
That guy that’s supposed to be tailing them is very bad at his job.
Now I’m sad.
3x14
*Mack mentions friends being transferred” Aww, Bobbi and Hunter.
Repeats “It’s a building.” In Scottish accent. *laughs* that’s great.
Uh oh Fitz does not like Daisy’s methods of interrogation. He looks so uncomfortable.
A shotgun ax. Holy shit that’s amazing.
That dudes a hologram! Coulson knew. He’s a genius.
3x15
Holy shit we’re seeing the future.
*Hive melts the business men* Eeww, ugh that’s horrific. Aaah!
*Andrew becomes lash permanently* Oh no! Poor May. That’s so sad.
Wait, I bet you it’s not snow. Bet you it’s ash. *Snow is actually ash* Called it.
*Quinjet vision* That vision is familiar. Where have we seen that? Wait, that was at the beginning! Oh shit, that’s the future! Shit!
3x16
*Young Malick and Nathaniel appear on screen.* Maggie tries not to freak the frick out at Nathaniel so as not to spoil season 7.
Steve: oooh, does his brother get volunteered as tribute or something?
*Daisy explodes the mines in front of James house.* Badass.
*Reveal that Malick betrayed his brother* That’s why Ward had the stone! He knew! He remembers the betrayal! Oof, not looking great for Malick.
I hate Ward. Whatever he is.
Shit! Is he killing Malick daughter! That’s way more brutal than killing Malick! Ooooh, evil.
*Lincoln’s past is explained* See, I’m glad he’s sharing, but how do you bring something like that up in conversation normally. Glad their talking, but I get it.
*Giyera escaping from the containment pod* Fitz, please get away from the guy trying to escape. Please. Oh crap he’s got a seatbelt.
*Mack gets knocked out* Oof, Mack. Poor dude.
*Secret Warriors Assemble* Yes! I’ve got to put the baby to bed but then next episode!
3x17
Sorry Joey, I don’t think you’re going to finish that date. You’ve got to go fight people.
Whoa! Lincoln’s powers got even cooler.
That felt a bit too easy.
*Fitzsimmons flirting* They’re cute.
*Mackelena flirting* He’s speaking Spanish. Kay, that’s sweet.
I don’t think Joey is okay. He did kill that Medusa dude.
*reveal that one of the inhumans are swayed* That’s what he meant by someone on the inside! That’s not good. Now they’re all looking suspicious.
*Fitzsimmons find Malick’s body* Is he dead? Holy shit, was there a bomb! Shit!
“Aren’t you a spy, learn Spanish” Hahahahaha! Yes! That line is genius!
Okay, they are pushing for it to be Lincoln waaaay too hard.
*Fitzsimmons soft kiss in the bunk* *Steve Fist pumps* Yessss!
Uhhh, why is Daisy out of her cell. It’s her! Oh no.
Way to go Lincoln on the character growth. Staying for SHIELD!
Is Daisy going to fly? Oh no, she’s destroying the base. And she ruined Fitzsimmons make out session. And she’s bringing the base down. Also that.
Noooo! That’s it? That cliffhanger! *upset that we have to wait to watch the next episode*
3x18
“It’s risky, and irresponsible” Hahaha, May smiles.
Nice flying May!
*FS talking about sex* “I’ll see you in the quinjet” Hahahahahahahaha. That’s amazing.
*Hive talks* That’s not creepy. You know what happened to the last girl Hive kissed. Daisy run.
“Because all you are is big and strong.” Hahaha, Fitz is all pissy about it. Amazing.
Oof, Lincoln just can’t get Coulson’s approval.
Maggie: Fitz is so handsome Steve: He really is
*FS ending scene* Yessss!!!! Finally!!!
3x19
Inhuman backstory!!
Why are they all such jerks to Lincoln? Like, he just cannot win with Coulson and May. No one is nice to him. Except Fitzsimmons, they’re nice to him. Okay, and Mack.
*Piper is introduced* Red shirts aren’t red shirts! That’s awesome!
Oh, Mack, what are you doing? Please don’t get hurt. Daisy please don’t hurt him. Mack noooo!
Wow, Shield is just struggling on all fronts. Daisy’s missing, Mack’s injured, Lincoln’s sick—Wait no after credit scene?! Dammit!
3x20
Okay, they seriously need to lay off Lincoln. Like, he is not a bad dude!
Now I see why they can’t get help from the avengers.
Yo yo is awesome.
Fitz having to play whack-a-mole with security. Gosh, they’re going through it.
Lincoln, nooo! You’re smarter than this! Your character growth! Oh, thank god it was part of the plan.
Yes! Lash! Badass!
Oh my god he’s saving Daisy! Yeah!!!
No!!! Lash!!!!
He couldn’t just have killed Hive? I guess we need a finale.
Andrew saved Daisy!
Shit, he’s got a warhead. Ward’s trying to destroy the world again.
What’s Elena giving Mack? No! Mack put that down! Put the cross down!
3x21
That’s right, Shield is good at what they do.
They done pissed off an alien.
Fitz is amazing.
Fitzsimmons should go on that vacation. Take a break.
Oh no the cross! The jacket! Fitz put it down!
Wait, she wants to go back?! Daisy, nooooo!
3x22
Ooh Yo Yo no!!! She took a bullet for Mack. Yeah, she is not okay.
Shit, they’re going to use the torch to cauterize the wound. That’s majorly going to scar.
Why do I kind of like Radcliffe?
Oh, May was about to be super nice to Daisy and she gets hit over the head.
“You were a murderous wank before all this” Okay, that line’s amazing
Did Fitz cloak a gun?! That’s amazing!
Aaaah, the jacket! Can they stop freaking me out with the jacket?!
I like how they pan from the window so they don’t have to break it for real.
Don’t get rid of Daisy!
“Help me Obi Wan Kenobi” Oh my god, that’s incredible.
Badass shield team is badass.
You know the person who plays Daisy is a great actress.
Wait. wait. Wait. Lincoln. Lincoln? Noooooo! They can’t kill Lincoln. They’re not going to—they can’t. But I loved Lincoln! Nooo!
*Steve is quiet for a long moment* I loved Lincoln.
*Flash forward* Is Daisy on the run?
Director? What? Phil’s not the director??
“No Aida that’s not what we’re celebrating” It’s your birthday. “Today’s your birthday.” CALLED IT! Wait, are we going to have robots?
Shit, we lost a lot of people that season.
Crap, I want to watch the next episode!!

Being May’s Daughter and an Older Sister to Daisy would include:
Tumblr media
SPOILERS FOR WHOLE SHOW!
Being Melinda May’s daughter means you are an expert at control.
She always urged you pursue whatever passion you wanted.
But she always saw that part of you would be a fighter.
Andrew wasn’t exactly thrilled.
But he was supportive father and cared for you both.
In fact, an argument between the two was part of what made them split.
Neither ever told you that.
May, however, suspected that you always knew.
When you met Skye, you saw an innocent girl dragged into this world that looked fun, but one that held a lot of pain inside of it.
So, you trained her when May had to fly.
Despite that it had autopilot, May seemed to know the role you were choosing to play in her life. So, she let you be.
Skye was always wanting to let people in, but always waited for the other shoe to drop.
You seemed to recognise it and didn’t force her into talking about anything.
You just acted like an older sibling and friend in subtle ways.
Checking in on her when it was late and talking to her if she was up.
One time, when she had a nightmare, she woke to you waking her up.
She returned that favour to you when you had a nightmare.
It was about losing your mother.
Now, Phil Coulson always had fatherly instincts.
He knew you and May, obviously.
He played the role of a father to you.
But, assured you that he wasn’t replacing Andrew.
“He’s your birth father, Y/N. I’m never going to beat that. Just know I’m here if you need.”
Anyway, back to Skye.
That night when she woke you, you talked for hours.
May found you the next day asleep in the bed, with you having a protective arm around her.
May let you rest in.
Skye trusted you with a lot of things about her past after that.
She even trusted you about the usb stick with information about her parents.
When they found out about her ties with the Rising Tides not being cut, the team were disappointed.
You, however, took her side.
Your mother wasn’t exactly pleased, but only showed that through a look.
You, like the others did forgive her. But, in your eyes, she didn’t really have much to apologise for.
You took her aside before her talk with Coulson, “I know you’re probably nervous, but he won’t throw you out. I won’t let him…. I just wished you would’ve told us.”
She apologised, but you just shook it off.
She then came out of the office and sat with you, telling you about her actual goal of joining the team.
You just listened to her the whole time and didn’t judge her.
In the end, you hugged her assured her you would be there for her and help her in her search.
While you didn’t know much about hacking, you tried to help her where you could
When your mother kicks her off the plane and she go looking for Coulson, you sneak off to help her
“Y/N?! What the hell are you doing here?!” She asked
“Helping, obviously.” You respond as if it’s nothing
“But what about May --?”
“I’ll handle her when we get back with Coulson.”
She doesn’t say it, but she appreciates your company
She doesn’t have to though, as you can just simply tell
So, you follow through with her plans, including the one to drive into the water to get the car sent
“Sorry.” She says
“We’re alive.”
When you both play dress up, you play the role of your mother and Skye plays the role of Coulson
You’re a lot more convincing
You find Coulson and call the rest of the team
You’re the one who speaks
When your mother picks up the phone, Skye looks at you with a worried expression
But you don’t seem too bothered
“Y/N.” She greets
“Mom.” You return, politely
“Where are you?”
You look at Skye with a, “See? Easy.” Look as she drives you to where Coulson is.
After that, you become a partner to her in the field.
When she gets shot, you are one who beats Quinn up instead of your mother. She watches the door for you.
You stay with Skye whenever you can as she heals. You are just elated to have her be alive.
While you play older sister to Skye, you also do to Fitzsimmons.
If any of the three ever need anything, they come to you.
Normally starts of with “Y/N, can I ask you something?” If it’s either of Fitzsimmons with their manners.
You, of course, say yes.
When Ward betrays the team, it shocks and hurts you.
You are with Fitzsimmons on the plane and fight Ward to try and protect them.
You end up being caught, but a SHIELD team get you out.
When the team reunite with Jemma, you pull up in a car and enter the place.
May, in a rare moment of vulnerability, runs to you and hugs you tight.
She doesn’t say anything, just hugs you.
Skye is next in her hug, “I’m so glad you’re ok.” She says voice cracking.
You just hold her and rub your hand on her back in comfort.
Jemma thanks you for protecting them.
During the time, May starts training you again and you spar with Skye.
May see’s the sisterly bond between you two now: the loyalty, the laughs, the late-night talks.
Neither you nor May say it, but you can tell that Skye is a part of the family now.
You are the third partner in their little SHIELD team.
You try and be the one who goes in while Skye hangs back out of protectiveness. But she’s stubborn.
“No, I’m not letting you go in there alone, Y/N.” Seems that protective spirit has gone to her as well.
You ruffle her hair whenever you go past.
She’d act annoyed, but kind of find if nice in a way. With you openly being affectionate and showing her that you care.
If you’re ever hurt on a mission, she’s by your side either on site, or when you return.
“Hey, Y/NN, you need to stay with me, ok? You’re not dying, not now. May’ll kill me.”
When she gets taken by Ward, it’s you she has to convince last.
“I’m not letting you go with him, Skye.”
“You have to. You guys taught me how to look after myself. I’ll be ok.”
You sigh but let her go.
Then she gets her powers.
She’s scared shitless, but you stay with her as much as you can like you did when injured.
When the team argue about her showing them, you argue her case.
“She was scared.”
“She kept it from us!” Mack would say passionately.
“To avoid this reaction!”
“It’s ok, Y/N.” She tells you when she arrives at the door. She gives you a sad smile, but in her eyes, you can tell she appreciates it.
You visit her in her cell, so she doesn’t feel alone. But she can tell that you aren’t quite sure how to handle it.
“It’s ok, you know. I’m not hurt by it.”
“By what?”
“My powers. It’s ok to say that you don’t know how to handle it.”
There’s the last tenet of your sisterhood: honesty
When she leaves, you stay in contact as much as you can. She asks you how it’s going back at base, and you ask her how she is.
Then SHIELD go after her, and real SHIELD enter the scene.
Now you’re all having to careful and tread lightly with this new SHIELD.
When Bobbi comes back, she tries to explain it.
“Y/N, just let me –”
“If you so much as lay a finger on any of my friends or look at them the wrong way, I swear, we are going to have issues, Morse.”
However, your mother see’s it and reigns you in.
“I understand that you’re angry.”
“So, you want me to, what? Bottle it up?”
“No, use it for something more. They’re after Coulson, and he’s after Ward. We need to keep her heads on straight.”
“…Ok, you’re right. I’m sorry.” May just nods, forgiving you.
When Fitz leaves, you help devise the scam for him to get away with the real toolbox.
“Are you sure about this, Y/N? What if it backfires on you?” Jemma asks you, worried about your wellbeing with this situation.
You just smile at her caring nature, “If it does, then it hits me, and not you guys. Now go on.”
When Skye comes back, your smile is as wide as it can be.
You hug her so tight, “Welcome back, Skye.” You tell her in a soft voice.
“Thanks, Y/N.”
When you see her power, you are in awe, “Look at you!” She smiles and sends a wink.
She even pushes a bullet away that was coming for you.
Having to work again with Ward is difficult, but it’s a necessary evil. Just like your mother on the SHIELD board to argue Coulson’s case.
“Are you sure you have to go back?” You ask Skye when it’s her turn to do just that
“I wish I could bring you. I do, really. But they have a thing about outsiders”
“It’s ok. Go on, kiddo. Go be with your family.”
You know that she has her parents now, but it still hurts a bit that you might lose her.
“Hey, I’m not moving on, alright? I’ll still come back, and we can even team up! I’m not leaving you, Y/N.” She assures you.
Then it all goes to shit.
Everything happens quickly, but two team ups happen: Yourself and Skye/Daisy; you and your mother.
Now it’s you, Mack, and Daisy (Skye’s birth name) as partners
Daisy and you are almost completely in sync. She doesn’t even need to yell, “Duck!” anymore before using her powers.
You know each other so well.
Mack plays big brother and adores it when you both have that synchronisation. Makes him proud to be your partner.
Not that you don’t forget about him, you always include him in your fights and activities such as games.
You pass the controller to each other when someone dies in the game.
Late night game sessions and drinking buddies don’t go well.
Then Ward comes back and kidnapped you.
Oh, you bet your ass that Daisy is working day and night to find you.
You’re her best friend. And she nearly lost Simmons (her other best friend), so she’ll be damned if she’s going to lose you too.
May tries to pull her away but fails.
“Daisy, you need to take a break.”
“Not until we find, Y/N.”
“I’m worried about her too. But she can handle herself.”
“Not with Ward, though! I should’ve killed him!”
If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. And that’s what May does.
When they find you, they burst through the doors, more pissed than they ever have been.
Ward isn’t there, but you are, and that’s what matters.
Now they’re super protective over you now. Not only them, but the whole team.
Ward does a number on you mentally.
Jemma is extra careful with your wounds and keeps assuring you that you are doing well.
Fitz makes you some sleeping pills to try and help and makes you coffee every morning.
Mack gives you more and more hugs every day.
May checks in on you more.
Daisy…. well.
Daisy stays with you as much as she can. Whether that be in the same room as you, talking to you or being silent, going on missions with you.
She has your back all the way.
Whenever you flinch, she’s quick to withdrawal and apologise.
Sure, she’s worried and misses the spark that you had. But it’ll either take time to come back or it’ll be different.
Whichever it is, she’ll adapt. You’re her sister and best friend.
Then a version of Ward comes back and takes Daisy away from you guys.
Now May is very concerned about you. She can tell this is all building up to something with you.
Despite being her daughter and Daisy joking that you are pretty much May but bubblier. You are human after all.
Whenever they get closer to Daisy, May keeps you away.
You want to help Daisy, but you also know that you wouldn’t be able to handle it.
You start doubting yourself. Starting spinning ideas of, “What if?”
The whole team notices a shift in you. You miss more, take more hits in fights, you’re acting reckless more and now that your father is gone too, you’re spiralling.
And May is genuinely afraid that she can’t stop it.
One day, she goes to find you, only to find you gone and a note left behind.
It reads: “Mom, I know that this isn’t enough. But I can’t with this life anymore. You told me you’d support me through whatever I wanted to do. And I don’t think SHIELD is this. I’m done watching people die, mom. I’m done losing friends. I’ll make contact at some point. Just, let me be for now? Love you always, Y/N. PS. Find Daisy.”
Then there’s nothing for almost a few months.
When Daisy comes back after being freed from Hive, she doesn’t see you and fears the worst, “Is she…?” She can’t get the words out.
May shakes her head, “No, she’s just gone. She left.”
Then Daisy is gone too after Lincoln. Now May has lost two out of her three daughters.
Daisy, however, manages to find out what you are doing.
And what is that, exactly? Smuggling Inhumans out.
She watches from afar with her little scope, making sure you’re ok and safe.
She’s just happy that you’re alive. But doesn’t dare go close.
As Coulson chases leads on Daisy, May does the same for you.
She has a file that becomes bigger and bigger as she slowly pieces together just where you are and what you are doing.
Then Fitz finds it, “What is this?” He asks.
“It’s everything I’ve found on Y/N since she left. She’s running a smuggling operation of Inhumans to get them out.”
Fitz just nods, promising to keep it safe.
However, May does find a burner phone on her bed the next day.
She keeps it in her back pocket.
Daisy comes back first, and May is delighted to have one of her two missing daughter’s back.
However, it’s when Mace calls herself and Daisy in that shit gets real with you.
“There’s a situation developing.” The two share a look, worry filling them up.
“There was a fight between SHIELD and the watchdogs, some Inhumans were killed. But Y/N got away. But we think we know where she’s going.”
(Episode 4x13 - BOOM) They both capture the Watchdogs and find that they have been hunting you for a while.
When Shockley is going on a rampage, he see’s you in the road.
“Well, hell. There she is, Y/N May.”
You started firing your pistol at him but doesn’t do much.
Your gun clicks, “Sorry, sweetheart. I’ll make this quick.”
Just as your life is about to end, he is stopped –
By Daisy Johnson.
She moves to your side, holding out a clip for you. You take it, loading it in.
“You don’t touch her.” She snarls at Shockley.
So, it’s just like old times. Even if it cuts it a little close.
When Fitzsimmons arrive, they activate the machine and stop him.
Now, it’s silence, as the three stares at you.
You’re here, you’re actually here. They’ve found you.
Daisy doesn’t talk, she just hugs you.
You are taken aback by the action. But, before you can do anything, Fitzsimmons join the hug too.
“Come on, Y/NN, let’s go home.” Daisy says, taking your hand and pulling your dazed form along with her as Fitzsimmons flank you.
When May see’s you, that silence returns. You both can’t really seem to believe that you are seeing the other.
Coulson approaches you and put’s a fatherly hand on your shoulder, “Welcome back, kiddo.”
You might be about to cry here, but that’s besides the point.
You approach your mother with caution, “Hey mom.” You say, trying and failing to keep your voice steady.
“You’re back?” She asks you.
“I don’t think a normal life is for me.” You say, chuckling a bit.
She hugs you, squeezing you tight.
Her baby is home.
It takes a bit of Tim getting settled back in with the gang. But they’re patient with you, even with everything going on.
Then the LMD secret comes out. Your mother wasn’t the one you hugged.
You find Jemma and Daisy in hiding, close to losing it once again.
Daisy, being more in control, calms you down and sits you next to Jemma. She goes to leave, only to you try and get up.
“No, Y/N, I need you to stay with Jemma.” She asks of you, before she leaves on her mission of holding the LMDs off.
You all get out, holding hands in the Jet.
Then you enter that world.
The world where your greatest mistake is fixed.
However, as Daisy finds, your still May’s daughter. However, something is different.
You’re a TA for Coulson at his school. You aren’t a SHIELD agent.
You have a normal life.
It’s jarring to you at first, but you sink into the role as if it’s natural.
Meanwhile, you see that you and May are a bit distant here in this life, but there’s still a parental-child dynamic.
Jemma finds you first, at the school.
Then you meet with Daisy and all hug, having found one another.
Then you’re all right back in the thick of it, this time with Ward as you knew him: Kind, loyal, genuine.
To make it worse, you’re then stuck.
The rest of it goes pretty much the way most things do for you guys: badly.
However, when Daisy is caught, she brings up the fact that she knows you and that you are in the resistance to May.
You’re phone then rings, but you don’t answer, too busy helping the civilians in the base.
Now May is worried in this world too.
She springs Daisy, all in an effort to find you.
When she see’s you, she’s surprised to see you.
You’ve been a bit estranged as of late in this life.
She sees you are helping people and being in a natural element.
She’s reminded of the little girl who she used to be so close too.
“Y/N.” You turn in surprise to see your mother.
“Hi Mom.” You say, not quite sure how to act.
“I’m guessing you sure the report on the news?”
“Yeah, you’re footage. You did good, Mom.”
Tears come to her eyes at your praise.
Daisy smiles as she see’s the interaction.
You meet her eyes as you and your mother hug, you mouth to her “Thank you.”
You all get out, but you can’t even celebrate as Space them comes around and grabs you all.
You, like Jemma, are taken as a maid/slave and deafened.
You’re just kind of numb to this world, bottling it up.
You’re used as leverage against Daisy. She wouldn’t act brash if it would get her sisters killed.
And that bet was right.
When you are escaping and go to the lift, you’re shocked when Daisy wants to stay. You want to go to her and stay with her but May stops you.
However, Coulson stops that before it can even happen, Icing Daisy.
While May understands the reasons for you wanting to be with your best friend, she’s now a bit on edge with you.
So, when you go back to present day, she makes sure to keep an eye on you more.
Daisy, meanwhile, is a bit more evasive. Always fining ways to not go on missions.
It all culminates in the fear dimension.
You’re fear has always been losing your family. So, as you leave your room, the lights flicker before coming back on.
It’s everyone, dead.
You scream as you see it.
However, while this is going on, Daisy is also being tortured by the Doctor side of Fitz.
When that ends, your screams are still being heard.
The team (minus Daisy and Fitz) rush to you and see what you’re looking at.
Jemma quickly runs to you and assures you it’s not real. It takes a moment before you go with her logic.
Then she drops it, “Daisy needs you.”
You’re still a bit angsty after your trip with fear. But you’re little sister needs you.
You enter the room and see her lying on her bed.
You sit at the foot of it, knowing that she wouldn’t want to talk.
You just sit there, hoping your presence would be enough.
May enters a bit later, sitting next to you and taking your hand in her own.
After this incident, Daisy is a lot bossier and pushier.
You don’t mind it at first, but you do clash at times.
Then Ruby dies.
Then Coulson.
Then Fitz.
Then you’re in space and looking for your brother and you both have time to fix the gap in your friendship.
“I’m sorry.” She says.
“You’re good –”
“No, I mean it, Y/NN. I shouldn’t have been like that.”
“Daisy…. you couldn’t help it. We process things differently. Yours was more external.”
“And yours? I heard about your fear.”
“…. I don’t know if I have yet.”
“Me neither.”
So, that’s what you both do when alone together. You try and help each other through the shit you’ve gone through.
You just sit together in a room, writing reports, or in silence and looking at space.
You remind each other that you aren’t alone.
That you both have family right here.
Daisy even tells you about the kiss between Coulson and May. You both share a laugh at the story.
Returning home and reuniting with your mom is a blessing. You both hugs.
She’s even smiling!
But then you find out that Phil Coulson has sort of returned. This time with no knowledge of who he is.
Kind of like a shadow of himself.
Daisy and you are both freaked by it. Your father figure has returned but has no knowledge of himself or you both.
Despite being the older sister, Daisy is the one who snapes to attention and pulls you away. Pulls you around the corner before your breathing picks up.
“What the fuck?” You ask.
“Y/N,” She keeps her voice soft, “I know that this is fucked up. I know, trust me. But we can get through this, ok? You and me against the world, right?” She holds a hand to you.
You grasp it with your own, “Us against the world.”
That mantra is a thing you keep repeating as the two of you go on the truck journey with Sarge (Coulson’s shadow) along with your mother.
You can tell May is rattled too, but she seems to hold hope that this can bring Coulson back.
You aren’t so sure. You and Daisy both share that.
But you go with it for your mother’s sanity.
Coulson was the closest you had to a father after Andrew’s death. So, you understood with the way May felt about him would make her think this way.
You are the one to talk to May when she shoots Sarge.
“Seriously, Mom?”
“I don’t – I don’t remember doing that, Y/N.”
“…. I believe you.”
Then Izel starts taking over people, your mother being one of her victims.
When it comes to sharing information that no one else would know, Daisy is the one who clears you.
“When Y/N was on the run, she made a little grave for Andrew. It held a little silver box.”
May looks at you with sadness, but you nod and confirm it.
You are with Daisy when you hear that May is down.
While Daisy s hurt and blaming herself, she immediately looks to you.
You just stare at the radio.
“Y/N…. hey. Hey, look at me.” You do, “We’ll get her back, ok? We’ll fix this.”
“She – She’s dead, Daisy. My mom’s dead!”
“Hey, no! She’s just down. I promise you; she’ll be ok.”
It’s enough to keep you going, but now you and Daisy are fuelled by one of the most powerful things on earth: Hate.
She uses her powers; you fire every bullet that you have.
When your mother returns, you see that she’s weakened. She looks like a corpse.
She falls, but you catch her.
“Mom, mom, mom. I got you, I got you.”
Dais kneels next to you but holds one of May’s hands as you stroke your mother’s hair.
“Y/N…I – I wanted it to be him.”
“I know.”
Your mother gives you a smile that communicates something she doesn’t have a strength to say: I’m so proud of you.
Then she closes her eyes.
She’s gone.
Melinda May is gone.
Your mother is gone.
You let out a sob as it fully hits you.
Then a different version of Jemma enters the room and puts May in a pod.
Well, tries, but you interfere.
“No! Don’t you touch her!”
“Y/N They need to –” Daisy tries to stop you. But it’s Jemma who does it.
“Y/N, May will be ok. The pod will keep her alive.” She assures you.
“It better.”
Now you’re back in time. For you guys, only a few minutes have passed.
Robot Coulson is here, and May will live.
Your family is back together. But you aren’t the same.
You’re still processing.
Just before you leave to go out, Daisy stops you.
“Are you ok?”
“I’m fine.”
“Y/N, you don’t have to shut me out. It’s ok if you –”
“She died, Daisy! She died. And now she’s not. Coulson did, and now he’s here. I mean – I – I don’t.”
Daisy told you to stay on the Zephier. You did.
Then May woke up, as an empath who felt others’ emotions, but not her own.
She did, however, feel your familial love for herself and Daisy full on. Along with your conflicted feelings about her being back and alive.
However, it allowed her to be more in touch with you. As she could tell when you were lying.
That led to lots of looks from here that just told you that she knew.
It was nice though, like you guys were when you were younger.
When it all came to an end, May was a teacher, and you were her assistant.
You guys did the calls with the others.
Your family.
Sometimes, it would just be you and Daisy, catching up and having chats that lasted hours. May didn’t dare interrupt you then.
