Ship combat in A Starstruck Odyssey is very exciting. It feels like everyone is doing stuff all the time to accomplish their goals. Someone didn’t quite roll well enough? That’s ok! Someone else can use a reaction to give them a chance to succeed. There’s a collaborative nature to it and it feels real to how it would be on a ship. Everything is always moving and everyone is always contributing and it makes it feel extremely dynamic.

Between Critical Role and Dimension 20, it appears that if you play D&D with the same group of people for a few years, you will eventually have a party that consists of the following:

a robot

someone with telepathic abilities

someone with hatred against a former compatriot/mentor

someone with another being living in their brain

someone from a far-off land who doesn’t fully understand the social/cultural norms

someone who miraculously survived a near-death experience and the medical treatment significantly altered their body, and they’re also in debt

someone who is normal on all levels and becomes the de facto leader/voice of reason because they are the only one with a braincell

a monstrous creature that has tamed and occasionally shrieks
