that is def possible based on the previews, though given fig is sort of protecting ankarna's domain and also we know she's going to go talk to zara sool who has a connection to the celestial plane, so there are a few diff ways she could talk to ankarna without dying

the thing is like. as an overwhelmed teenager who was just killed by a system that didn’t protect them properly and wants above all to live, yeah i can see pledging yourself to an unnameable rage god, like you should be angry your school just shipped you off to die alone in the mountains on your spring break.

that said, given gorgug, kristen, adaine, and riz have all died and not pledged themselves to a rage god, i simply know that adaine in particular will see this as simply a skill issue

i will say kipperlilly’s rage at riz specifically for having an unfair advantage in his dad’s tragic murder when riz has been practically killing himself all year bc they are a single parent low income household and won’t be able to afford uni without a scholarship precisely because his dad’s tragic murder isn’t accounted for is just,,,, oh boy

i think this is going to be especially interesting in the final battle tbh - doubt vs conviction, is your rage justified, is feeling like your rage is always justified and a power for good a good thing in itself? like going up against a handful of people dedicated to a god of rage and conquest as a barbarian asks some really fascinating questions imho that i think gorgug will have to reckon with, especially given his whole new sort of clear sighted thinking through rage as a barbificer
