What do you think the name of the continent Ravka is on is? Or the name of the planet? There's so little worldbuilding done lol
Honestly, at this point I wouldn’t be surprised, if the next book claimed their world is flat and endless.
To use @caprica99‘s apt comment:
For a story, where the main character is a mapmaker, the maps, distances and general worldbuilding isn’t exactly well-worked out.
What’s beyond those Eastern mountains? Where do Fjerdans grow anything, if their southern border starts with permafrost? Why is the Wandering Isle “Wandering”? How can bankrupt country like Ravka keep “Southern Colonies”? When did they get them in the first place? Is Novyi Zem supposed to be America, of Africa? Why does everyone call it “Novyi Zem”, when that’s probably something like Old Ravkan? Or are we not pretending Ravka’s based on Russia? How big is anything? Is Kerch able to feed itself, or is it fully dependent on trade? What the hell’s Shu Han? Is it deeply structured country with several big cities and plenty of agriculture? Is some part of it nomadic?
Headcanons, anyone?

It's a cold, quiet evening on the Wandering Isle.
Mhyza has retreated to her house under the bridge to find some rest, but it's proving difficult to find. After a few hours of mindless pacing and failed attempts at meditation, she ascends the wooden staircase and heads back towards the Temple of the Five Dawns.
Tumblr media
She nods quietly at the Temple guards as she passes them, entering the main building and using the Mandala to travel to the ground floor. Not many people are in the temple itself tonight - not this late in the evening anyway. Mhyza plods down the wide staircase into the Village.
A handful of buildings are scattered on the edges of the central training grounds; there's a large one with two floors, that's the Laughing Crane Inn, and from its open door echoes the sounds of many merry late-night patrons. On the other side of the village is a much smaller, much quieter building; This is the Stormstout Inn, and currently it has no patrons.
Mhyza enters the Stormstout, nodding a silent greeting to the bartender, and sits down in front of the small cracking fire. The background buzz of people celebrating nearby - but not too nearby - is of great comfort to the sleepless monk. She eventually lays on her back, arms folded across her chest, and falls into a contented slumber.
Tumblr media
Serveral hours pass as the bartender watches over her single sleeping patron. As the sounds from the Laughing Crane eventually die down, and the crackle from the fire wears away to nothing but a dim glow, she leaves her positon behind the bar and extinguishes all of the candles - barring one, which rests on a table near the sleeping monk.
Mhyza is left in peace to recover her body and mind. The comfort of being near friends brings her soul an unexpected measure of relief.
Perhaps she should spend the night here more often.

My players uncovered some of the Tragic Backstory (TM) of one of my key NPCs in yesterday's session so... I had some fun drawing it! Nothing like being powerless to prevent the death of your celestial soulmate, so you fuse with their essence as they lay dying to become a whole new independent being - unshackled from divine providence.

Pov: you’re one of the normal Kerch farmers who came to Kuwei’s auction
“Me? Oh I’m just in the city visiting my kid at the university, saw the posters and thought I might as well come down,”
“It’s getting a bit busy, isn’t it? Glad I got here early to get a seat at the front, yeah,”
“I wonder why such a big group of Kaelish have come?”
“Bloody hell, half the damn country of Novyi Zem are here,”
“The Fjerdans are here - and, Ghezen, that’s the Ravkans too!”
“THE SHU!!??”
“Ok, seriously, who the hell is this kid?”
*whispered during the auction*:
“Dare you to bid 60 million”
“I am not bidding 60 million, are you insane?”
“Ohhhh come on, it’d be so funny! And you won’t have to pay it, they’ll all outbid you,”
“You do it then,”
“Ugh, no way. I’m not embarrassing myself in front of half the saints-forsaken world”
