Do you sometimes have a thought so specific that it is straight up messed up?
For me it was:
Und der Haifisch, der hat Zähne
Und die trägt er im Gesicht
Und Echo, der hat Ohren
Doch die Ohren sieht man nicht
(Translation:
And the shark, it has teeth
And it wears them in his face
And echo, he has ears
But the ears you don't see)
Tf is my brain connecting the threepenny opera with fucking Star Wars the bad batch???

...Since it's just about 41 more days until The Threepenny Opera becomes public domain (at least in the US), appropos of nothing I feel I should note that it would be entirely in keeping with Brecht's vision to make an adaptation done entirely with SFM using Team Fortress 2 and Kabalmystic models.

January, 2024: Bertolt Brecht's The Threepenny Opera enters public domain.
Me: Grabs my computer and resumes work on the girl power/sisterhood/women-supporting-women play inspired by it that I've put on hold since 2019.

John Darnielle said there are three ways to get out of an untenable situation: the Machine (Jenny), the Divine (Stable Boy Song) and the Horrors (The Day the Aliens Came). Alternatively, there are three ways to cope—a friend/lover, your own faith, or outside substances.
All three of these songs are Pirate Jenny but Brecht/Weill could write none of them.

A week ago, I went and saw my first opera. It was very good to the extent that it has taken over my music listening and made me start learning german again.
Ja, der Haifisch, sehr der hat Zähne!
Poor Mackie Messer... At least he has a £10,000 pension and is now a member of royalty and definitely got rescued.

Bonkers album cover from Italy, 1973, it's a compilation of Kurt Weill songs from The Threepenny Opera and more. This is why vinyl slaps.
