It's wild how Tamlin gets so much shit for bringing back the Tithe (which is literally just. feudalism.) after his kingdom has been decimated from the past 50 years.
But there's never any alternative explanation for how the High Lords in other Courts are able to maintain their lavish lifestyles.
Like. Okay fine, Feyre can criticize Tamlin for having his subjects pay taxes. What are the alternatives? How does Rhysand purchase his five mansions and hire the staff to maintain them? How does Rhysand buy expensive clothing, food, and weapons for himself and the IC? Mor goes out drinking and partying every night, who fronts the bill?
And HONESTLY normally I wouldn't care because these are fluffy fantasy books, I never would EXPECT serious worldbuilding from them. But THE AUTHOR BROUGHT IT UP! If you're going to criticize one character for doing something a certain way, there need to be viable alternatives.

Open to being convinced otherwise but currently I have no issue with the onepiece art tab thing? I was confused when I saw it so I hovered before I clicked, saw that the link address was "netflix_one_piece_campaign", thought oh ok not relevant to me then, and didn't click. And then later I got curious and did click, saw some cute fanart, went about my day. In terms of using people's content for advertising, like... can't all fanart be considered word of mouth advertising? And tumblr putting it in front of more people is just like a bnf reblogging it? idk I'm trying to think critically about new tumblr stuff and so far this one seems like a nice lil income boost in the spirit of the site.

Is it crazy to think the reason why Netflix keeps cancelling tv shows is bc they're using all the money for stranger things? lol

Let's put this into its own post: with appropriate resources, you can teach any subject in any language. Obviously the absence of resources in minority languages is a problem, indeed in some sense the problem, of language revitalization. And it's a difficult to solve one, but let's bracket it for now. You can teach math and science and music and history and pretty much everything else a child needs to know in Scottish Gaelic or Lakota or Warlpiri, if you've got the resources. So the idea that education in these languages would harm a child's education in a general sense is ridiculous.
There is one very important skill, though, that you can't teach in a minority language: the majority language! But this is a pretty tractable problem, frankly. Kids are going to acquire competence in the majority language automatically, especially in cases like the above, where bilingualism is near universal. In fact, even with immersion schooling in the minority language, they are reasonably likely to be more competent in the majority language, if it's what they're using outside of school all the time. So it's really not about teaching the majority language at all, but teaching literacy in the majority language. Given the success that e.g. the Nordics have had teaching English literacy, in a society where English has to be taught as a second language to begin with, while the rest of their schooling is in their native language, I don't think this is an especially difficult thing to achieve. Or, well, of course it's difficult, in the way that all education is difficult, but I should say that it's clearly tractable.
Given how much personal sadness and pain language death causes for people, how much of artistic and intellectual value disappears when languages die, and so on, I think it's plainly worthwhile to make an effort to solve these tractable-seeming problems. And given that bilingualism is generally regarded as cognitively beneficial (although I'm not familiar with the research, so I can't speak to its validity), I think bilingualism generally is probably worth encouraging. So the argument that education in a minority language is detrimental to the child just doesn't seem to hold water. It's also the argument that lead to things like the Indian residential school system here in the US, which is more-or-less principally responsible for indigenous languages being endangered here in the first place.

seen a lot of people saying that episode 13 is a spider episode, but am i the only one who sees it as a desolation episode? idk it’s just the cycle of the finance bro clawing his way up to ultimate fortune by losing everything else, and at the end of it all he doesn’t even get to keep his riches. he literally has nothing by the end of it, he’s burned every bridge, alienated himself from his friends and parents and completely fucked up his health. all that suffering just for one terrible loss, he got a taste of the top and it was stolen from him right at the finish line. life metaphorically going up into flames.

I swear to God , or whatever is most holy to me , if i ever make it big, as in money wise??? I'd just cast dylan O'Brien and tyler hoechlin in a gay drama where they meet after going their seperate ways for years , only when derek's nephew(hem hem son) is getting ready to go to college . They actually talk(fight) it out , finally reveal their feelings .
Stiles was like ," I couldn't face you after i woke up with your sister of all people!! I don't do that derek. I was madly in love with you!!!! And i don't even remember how or what happened"
Derek was like " i already forgave you. She already told me you both were blackout drunk and she was high on- wait . You.....loved ?? Me??? !? "
And then they proceed to have the bestest hottest most romantic lovemaking scene in the history of film , and their son has to gag everytime they're on screen together coz they're oh so sappy.
I WILLL do it. I'm threatening you all , whomsover it may concern.
I will make them kithhhhh 😡

"transmission replacements are one of the costliest car repairs, costing upwards of $5500 in some cases"
ok but like that's cheaper than a new car or even a decent used car and keeps me from having a note, as long as i can come up with the cash up-front and to be frank is also not significantly more expensive than the down payment on either kind of said car would be so like......

currently looking for some persona zines to show some support for (ie buy them) but it’s pretty difficult since most zines are “old” (a year or more) and the stores that hosted them aren’t showing them anymore.
There’s a bunch that I would love to see/have but just. I can’t find them. And this isn’t for lack of trying, I would love to throw my money at the creators/organisers but with no way to actually get the zines now it’s like they’re a lost sort of media.
I get that zines typically are in a much smaller circulation than officially published works but it makes me sad that there are whole lovingly crafted zines (not just persona! any zine!) that people who find them/the fandom later will never be able to see or experience.
