I'm sorry but the only reason klaroline ever got so much popularity and their huge fan base was because the fans used Caroline as a self insert: she's the stereotype of a teenager girl, a gorgeous blonde vampire who's insecure and is always put second aka what every teen has been in one point of their lives.
That's why other Klaus’s ships, such as klayley, klamille, klaurora and especially klonnie, didn't get the hype and love klaroline did. These women were all adults or young adults when they were introduced (except Bonnie of course) and the people didn't like them at all at first. I mean, the hatred towards Camille, Hayley and Aurora when The Originals was streaming was crazy and this has reduced a little, but still remains.
I'm aware that even if klaroline hadn't happened, klonnie wouldn't have gotten half the support that Klaus and Caroline have. Of course it wouldn't, why would they care about a poc romance? Bonnie wasn't ignored only by the show itself, but by the fans and this shows. I mean, even klena (Klaus x Elena) gets more love than them and while I don't hate this pairing, it just proves that writers will never put their favorite white person with a black woman.

If I had a nickel for every time Derek has spun around on a miniature Eiffel Tower in a musical, I would have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

the thing about the thing is that any klaus ship makes more sense than kl*roline and those people have to act like that to compensate. and i do mean literally any klaus ship.
the originals edition? klaurora ate. would've done great things if not for elijah. klamille? ain't everyone's cup of tea but it still makes more sense for klaus to have an interest in her than that other blonde girl at the very LEAST from a psychology aspect and to get at marcel and kieran. klayley? even if the only thing they Ever did was hate fuck, it still would've been more in character. klaus and lucien, klaus and genevieve, all of them make at least some sense from a narrative point of view.
tvd? klaus and elena? would've been a dark and twisty ass romance, but would've been great to witness. klaus and bonnie? not only would it have been eagerly accepted, but it was WANTED by the actors too. klaus and katherine? c'mon. (if you come to me about 'he killed her family!!' i'm sorry but i do not care they would've been so fucking funny). klaus and stefan.
even in the fucking BOOKS, klaus and vivianne were so, so much better. it's just.
like i'm SORRY but no matter what other ship it is kl*roline falls flat. he liked her because why? he has a weird complex about his sister and he wanted to assert dominance over tyler. there was literally no other reason for that man to give a shit about her.

She’s not sure why she doesn’t just break this up. Why she chooses to wait here, eavesdropping.
Maybe she wants to hear what Klaus has to say about her when he thinks she can’t hear. Maybe she wants to torture herself.
Finally, Klaus rises from his chair. Looms over Kol.

FE 66 Preview
Before the fire, Kol lolls in his chair. “And what am I to do if she asks me to touch her? She seemed keen enough.”
Klaus places his drink down. “She won’t.”
Kol smirks. “I’ve always liked pretty things with sharp tongues.”
For his part, Klaus makes no attempt to dress his words with false smiles or to feign casual ease. His words contain all of the gravity of his thousand years of ancient bloodborn horror. “I’m serious, Kol. If you touch her, I won’t care that you’re my brother. I’ll end you.”
Kol scoffs. “I see. So Bekah’s allowed to play with your toys, but never me. Truly, nothing ever changes.”
There’s a very long pause, then, filled with nothing but the crackling spit of the fire as the logs collapse in a plume of embers. With nothing but the beating of her heart as she waits, breaths as even and deep as she can make them as she pretends to still be asleep.
“She’s not a toy.”
