Related to the last two posts on here but this is the flag of the Imperial Federation, which yes is a little idiotic but blame Britain and France if you will for proposing the use of it in our actual timeline. The Imperium, for short, is the main antagonist in my original homebrew setting of Plaxion. For the long name, which is hardly used, is called the “Imperial Federation of Lenuvia and her Allies,” after the founding member of said Imperium.
Lenuvia was formed after the royal union of Theudia (with a French-like pronunciation its more like “Too-dia”) and Drenga at the end of the First Unification War (sometime around the 1650s I.R.). And from the 1700s onwards the realms of Lenuvia expanded to conquer the entirety of Plaxion, becoming the rulers of all of Plaxion up until the Arcadian revolts (1900s I.R.).

The latest (ep8 s2) episode of Strange New Worlds is the closest we have to a proper live action 40k show (currently), that being Trench Warfare In Space.
10/10 Foxholes, would shotgun crimes again.

still annoyed by the tiktok i saw once of someone smugly declaring the Federation was “an empire” and that this point was so obvious it brooked no debate
like
you have to apply for membership! it’s a post-scarcity utopia that has transcended the need for money! this meets no definition of an empire, except that it has some of the aesthetic trappings of liberal democracy, and edgy online types like to refer to liberal democracies as “empires” when trying to discuss the more general phenomenon of imperialism.

By Gary Wilson
In the current crisis, the banks hold the government hostage. They demand anything and everything to "bail us  out, or we will take you down with us." As long as capitalism rules, the bankers are not lying when they say this. On March 12, the Federal Reserve, Treasury Department and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation unveiled a plan to rescue uninsured depositors, Semafor reports. Only customers with deposits $250,000 and below are insured by the FDIC. But by invoking a “systemic risk exception,” they’ll now be able to cover larger accounts, which make up a much higher percentage of SVB’s deposits than most banks.

As an anthropology nerd, every time a Star Trek character describes the Prime Directive as apply to ‘less-advanced’ civilizations, I am physically incapable of not shouting at the tv, because THAT’S NOT HOW CIVILIZATIONS WORK!
Development is not a linear concept and the idea that is it is rooted in imperialistic nastiness. Because if development is linear, than that means some civilizations are better (’more advanced’) than others and should get to boss the others around. And Starfleet does that sometimes! I just rewatched SNW S1E1 and it’s all about Pike lecturing this warring planet into making peace because he’s from the big, advanced Federation where they know all the answers. That’s kinda creepy actually - it’s taking agency away from the pre-warp planet in favor of casting the Federation as the saviors. It also implies that the Federation is capable of coming into a situation like this, fumbling around for a couple hours, and suddenly knowing everything they need to fix a centuries old problem, because they’re just that smart - and the natives are just that stupid. Of course if this were realistic, the locals would be way better equipped to understand and solve their own problems than a bunch of outsiders who have been there five minutes. One lecture about destiny from Starfleet’s boy scout captain is not going to end a war. He’s not that special.
Okay, rant over. Disclaimer: I really do love SNW and Captain Pike, I am simply incapable of seeing this level of blatant inaccuracy and not yelling into the void about it. Come on, it’s egregious.

THE WAR IN UKRAINE IS STILL GOING ON!!!!! READ BELOW
Tumblr media
Hundred of tons of food supplies are still blocked in ukrainian ports.
Russian gas still brings billiards to russian economy.
Ukranian people are still dying from russian shelings and bombings.
____________________________________
If you are european - this all should still mater to you. The winter will come, the price on gas will rise or russia could block it all together.
If you are not from Europe - its still matters to you, especialy because Ukraine is one of the world largest food exporter. War in Ukraine means millions of people around the world will be affected by shortage of food supplies.
____________________________________
If you are european - talk about this on any level you can:
-Now is the best time to join eco activists and demand urgent development for using alternative energy sources. Fossil fuel from Russia brings only death to ukrainians, fossil fuel from Saudi Arabia will bring only death (read about war in Yemen). Any fossil fuel will bring death. It is time to change it.
-Talk to your representatives, to your governments - demand help for Ukraine. Clearly, we need weapons to win, any other case - Third World War in Europe.
-If you are not fan of military aid - solidarize with Ukrainians, with refuges, with victims, with different social groups in Ukraine. Talk about the war, talk about Ukraine, talk about russian imperialism. If your political views prevent you to stand with NATO and EU position on Ukraine - I understand, than criticize russian warmongering, educate yourself and others on russian imperialism and despotism of putin.

President Vladimir Putin announced on Wednesday that Russia would impose martial law in the four regions in Ukraine he illegally annexed last month, as his military struggles to maintain its grip on territory amid Ukrainian advances.
“Now we need to formalize this regime within the framework of Russian legislation. Therefore, I signed a decree on the introduction of martial law in these four subjects of the Russian Federation,” Putin said on national television.
Speaking to his National Security Council, Putin announced the immediate declaration of martial law in Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Donetsk, as well as the establishment of a new state coordination council aimed at fulfilling the objectives of his so-called special military operation.
Last month, the four regions held controversial referendums on whether to join Russia. These were widely criticized as illegitimate by the international community, and Ukraine. Some residents alleged that they were intimidated or otherwise forced into voting, and that the outcome of the vote was preordained.
Despite these criticism, Putin went ahead with formal annexation of the four regions at the end of September.
On Wednesday, Putin also signed an order introducing some elements of wartime measures to recognized regions bordering Ukraine — such as Crimea, Belgorod, Voronezh, Kursk, and Rostov, among others. Several of the regions have been important staging areas for Russia’s war in Ukraine and in recent weeks have come under increasing Ukrainian fire.
The order allows for unspecified economic mobilization in these regions, as well as seemingly laying the groundwork to organize local residents to support the military and security services. Much about the measures signed on Wednesday are vague and give the state more legal room to maneuver.
INTENSE WEEK OF COMBAT
Putin's announcement follows an intense week of combat in Ukraine. Russian forces, in response to the bombing of a key bridge to Crimea, have launched waves of missile and "kamikaze" drone strikes across Ukraine, killing civilians in cities and villages and seriously damaging critical infrastructure such as power stations.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Tuesday night that Russia’s latest turn in strategy — the use of stand-off missiles and drones against infrastructure and other targets far from the front — has taken 30% of his nation’s power plants offline since the strikes began on Oct. 10. Russian officials have warned that more is come.
The war has reached a critical impasse. Ukrainian forces continue their advance on Russian positions in eastern Ukraine, particularly the critical city of Kherson. Local Russian-installed officials have begun to sound the alarm on a potential Russian retreat from the city, warning civilians that the time has come to abandon the city.
The Kremlin-appointed deputy governor of Kherson, Kirill Stremousov, said that Ukrainian forces, supported by the West, would “start an offensive” against the city in the near future.
“I ask you to take my words seriously, and to understand them as meaning as prompt an evacuation as possible,” he said in a video message addressed to Kherson residents Wednesday.
Stremousov’s message follows Tuesday night’s appearance on state television of Russia’s new general in charge of what the Kremlin still insists on calling its “special military operation” in Ukraine. It is rare for a Russian general in any situation, let alone one at the helm of the nation’s largest military action since the Second World War, to give an interview.
Gen. Sergei Surovikin, who some have credited with masterminding Russia’s new strategy of bombing Ukraine into submission, signaled to the public that the situation for Russian forces in Kherson was on shaky ground — but that no matter what happens, military leadership was taking measures to ensure the safety of civilians in the region.
“Our further plans and actions regarding the city of Kherson will depend on the unfolding military and tactical situation. I repeat — it is already very difficult [the situation] today,” Surovikin said. “We will act consciously, in a timely fashion, and will not rule out taking the most difficult decisions.”
Some interpreted Surovikin’s remarks as preparing for a Russian retreat from Kherson, a city that has become a critical focal point in the war. Ukrainian victory in Kherson would potentially bring Crimea within striking distance of Ukraine’s long-range weapons — a situation that would drastically raise the perceived stakes for Putin.

Count Antonov, his father fought in the great patriottic war as a sailor on a patrol boat. I kinda relate to him, I have a noble title just like him, and just like him, I'm a communist, I just wish I had such a heroic heritage as well

Unfortunately, among the many names I learned during the immortal regiment, I lost hers. However, I remember one thing she wanted me to stress. When her grandparents lived under the occupation in Odessa, they were so desperate for food that they had to eat tree leaves. Not much is known about said grandparents because they didn't want to tell their story after the war, but this one detail was told and she wanted me to tell it to you all
