I had a real 💩 end of the school year this year...
Dealt with a LOT of BS from my (former) school all because I stood up for our school counselor when she spoke up at a biased, politically incorrect "Professional Development".
Long story short, the school had the Sargent from the police station across the street come in for our safety procedures PD, & he proceeded to go through the history of allllll the shootings (triggering!) with a biased slant (it's not a gun problem, or an American one...🤨) and of COURSE had to point out the gender of only ONE of all the shooters - the transgender one.
When our H.S. counselor spoke up - politely and professionally even though she was PISSED, the officer got all huffy and started talking like, "Do you even want me to be here? I can just leave right now..."
Anyways... I didn't let THAT one slide and wound up in a big meeting with admin. Took some PTO after that, switched to a leave of absence, and wound up on "paid administrative leave" since they were basically too scared of my righteous anger to let me come back to work! 😆
After all that BS - getting a message like this from one of our SPED teachers warmed my heart:
Image description: screenshot of text message reads: Yeah, I wish you'd been able to say goodbye but please remember that in [redacted]'s life alone, you made a huge difference... you were the first teacher whose room he stayed in for an entire school year... no catastrophic freak outs and no refusal to return... all the other kids and their issues aside, it was clear to him the class was his space and that was pretty much all YOU... thank you...

i think another super important nuance of toshiro's character that people miss is how the commentary of his character is so effective because his flaws are not a personal moral failing on his part, that his problems are greater than simply being a "bad person", even beyond the already very reasonable parts of his character like the culture clash. in truth, everything about him and how he responds to things is extraordinarily ordinary. the name of the game here is conformity and the status quo, and not only is that not excerbated by a single person, but it's such a big highlight that this is hurting him too even when he thinks he's doing what's best, what's expected of him, and he starts to realize that over the course of the story. there's a lot of subtle bits of his character that show how he wishes things were different too, how a lot of what he does and says isn't even what he really believes, but his own inability to break free of things is what stifles him. kabru is actually really important to his arc as a Status Quo Challenger, in how he both gets him to admit he would've done the same with going to great lengths for falin and how he challenges the canaries.
none of what he does is fully unique to him, all of the ways that he thinks are present in so many of the other characters, and the issue i have with fan response is how he's singled out in conversations like this because it's not just about one person, it's about everyone, it's about the system. the way he acts and thinks is just as understandable as any other character, and singling him out as the bad party here instead of the overarching themes that are present in everyone... is what disappoints me the most. there's about a million different layers to this conversation because kui is a genius with this stuff.

history 101 💛
This was originally just supposed to be me having fun exploring what Ephemer would be like as a teacher but it got a bit out of hand in a good way (but I think I spent way too long on this lol)
Notes:
I wholeheartedly believe that teaching is Eph’s true passion. While writing Overmorrow, I came to realize that his role as a teacher/master is necessary in ensuring that light and the will of the keyblade lives on, but it’s also something he would just genuinely enjoy doing on a personal level. Aside from being able to infodump to his heart’s content (that’s a big deal! 😄), he can also help, inspire, and lead as a teacher! I think if he does actually establish the Keyblade order/academy in canon, it would be his pride and joy
Eph’s actual classroom may not have looked like kh3/dr’s, but I like to believe it was probably similarly designed. (He learned a lot about teaching from Hestia 🥰)
Lyra first appeared here :) the rest of the students are new, I made them up on the spot
my ass could not have handled making Overmorrow as a webcomic

also none of that means you can't send me asks or whatever. i can decide whether or not to answer and in how much detail and if i give an in depth answer then that means i both have the information and am happy to provide it. i'm just tired of the repeated trend of my shitposts being held up to the standard of Educational History Content when they were never intended to be that, they're just me blowing off steam in my nerdy way because that's who i am as a person

this is intended to be, like, if a stranger on the street you were having a conversation with called you love.
think of any random person. I know this is dependent on context, but I don't want everyone to be hitting "else" just because if they're really nice they'd be okay with it. If any typical person you were chatting with called you "love", how would you react?

Those "x character joins Jujutsu Tech" AUs/theories always seem like the worst outcome to me, especially if it's with young characters like Junpei or Hana, or it involves Hakari and Kirara staying or returning to the school. It always has that feeling of: "I know what would make these people happy? being turned into a tool". Sure, Junpei going on missions for the higher-ups isn't as bad as being transformed by Mahito, but he's still gonna die at 18. I give him a year max. And Hakari and Kirara conforming to the system that mistreated them is even worse.

do you have any tips for like... paneling? your lil comics, if i could call them that(?) with Dave are well made (to me at least) and I'd like to get into making comics! or if you know any resources that helped you. :') - sincerely, a beginner.
sorry to be answering this so late, wanted to try and give some kinda proper advice haha
so what i do is i just make my posts as long as possible so that it takes up like all of ppls dash, this means they are forced to look at it and engage with it!
no ok but for real, first off
this is just how i do things and by no means any sort of proper tutorial or anything,
most of this is prob kinda basic and intuitive stuff, but its good to be reminded of the basics and to notice why you might be doing said things intuitively so you can start doing it intentionally
so how i approach things is by picking a focus panel
whats the Punchline/Emotional pay off for the page/comic?
and then i try and build the rest around that
for actual Comics not every page is gonna have one of those ofcourse and thats fine
i tend to often have to many focus panels,,,, lmao(which is why my posts end up so long,,,,)
i try to group similar panels and make them smaller, it saves space, makes it so the attention goes to the more unique panels and makes things feel more sequential(or u can do like me and have too many similar panels and think, what if i just make it an animation, its just a few extra frames right,,,?<- clueless(i have done this twice now,,, the second is still a wip,,, ))
heres one of my posts deconstructed using all this, id do more of them but i dont wanna make this even longer asdsd, but i think its pretty obvious to pick up on once you know the formula lol
after that i think its mostly just clear composition and flow so things dont get confusing(like what panel(also applies to text) youre suppose to read next and such(thats easier with this cus its usually just individual panels and not full pages))
edit: oh and resources that helped me, i mostly just looked at other comics, paying attention to how the paneling was effecting the story and mood!
some comics ive looked at for paneling inspo are houseki no kuni, how they play with contrast and stuff, idk theyre all just very striking, i looked at ajin at some point as well for help with some action stuff, most action shonen are also great for that 2
so yeah, just find a comic scene that has the same vibe that youre trying to get and see how they did it, finding a few and comparing and contrasting what you feel works best
thats my thought process while doing stuff at least!
i hope this helps at least a bit haha

culinary school students sukuita that always get paired up together because yuuji’s dishes are literally the best. the secret ingredient really might just be love because somehow they always taste right, except… his cutting skills are awful. always messy and uneven. and sukuna, i don’t even need to say it, is the best at it. the best of the best when given a good knife and a cutting board. but still kind of bad with cooking timings so gojo always makes them work together because they’re good students and he really wants them to succeed.
sukuna: oi brat, still can’t dice a simple onion? i learned that when i was still in diapers. wasuke would be disappointed
yuuji, threateningly pointing the knife at him while crying because of the onion: you’re on thin fucking ice. and stop hanging out with my grandpa
gojo, from a distance: aww they’re so much like we used to be
geto: just fucking pray they work somehow peacefully satoru
nanami [gordon ramsey voice]: fuck me. why did you make them work together again. they almost set off the fire alarm last time. jesus christ gojo.
gojo: hm but was the food good?
nanami: ………..yes.

Between TF and my other fandoms like BG3 and TES, I keep finding myself making OCs that have some element of "battle hardened hero who is actually good and righteous, but so traumatized by the toll of war that even after the war ends they feel empty/wrecked and can't enjoy the fruits of victory" and I'm not sure if it's bc I gravitate to a certain type of media where such OCs fit in best, or bc I have a specific character archetype I like and gravitate towards media that contains those things.

Small Things That Could Have Been Added For Character Development
Have Johnny pickpocket or somehow take the id card of a Crystal Theatre employee to help them get back on set after they got fired (their ids wouldn’t have logically worked and it would hint towards Johnny’s past).
A scene of Ryan giving Johnny a fist bump or hug when the dancers arrive on set as well as Johnny texting Ryan to come to set (now marks them as on friendly standing).
Add Marcus stepping between Johnny and Jimmy when the cops are dragging him out and/or covering his head when the helicopter is above them in Sing 1 (shows that he is protective of his son).
Have Jimmy interrupt Porsha or correct her harshly when she makes a mistake when talking (now has their relationship be a bit more clearly rocky and a reason for Porsha to rebel).
Add more of a reaction from the younger troupe members (Johnny, Meena, and Ash) to things in Redshore like the buildings and decorations (it’s unlikely any of them have been in somewhere quite as expensive or elaborate before).
When Ash is trying to convince Buster that something is a bad idea, have her clearly nearly slip up and say dad instead of Buster (shows how close the two are).
Add scratches or tears in the wallpaper and paint to Ash and Lance’s apartment and it’s decorations in Sing 1 (shows how much they were realistically struggling with being able to find gigs and get money).
A hug between Johnny and Stan and Barry after Johnny hugs Marcus (now we know that Johnny is close with them as well and solidifies them as being uncle figures at least to him).
When it shows Marcus and the others watching Johnny’s performance in Sing 2, have Stan be holding Marcus back a bit (Marcus and the others would have realized something was wrong by Johnny’s expressions alone and would show the gang’s dynamic a bit).
