I haven’t really seen anyone talk about this yet so there’s a possibility I could be the only one but I hate Chevreuse and how they wrote her
Even if I ignore the fact that she’s a cop and most cop-like characters piss me off anyways, within the context of the region she’s apart of, she’s just plain boring. As it stands we already have a good handful of characters in the game, a lot of them from Fontaine already, with the exact same motivations and high held personal morals; the law is there for a reason, if people enact revenge and take what they think is just and right All The Time, then there would be chaos and unfair violence everywhere. And from a real life ethical lens it WOULD be really chaotic if anyone, anywhere at anytime could take their views of justice into their own hands.
but that’s the thing!! kind of like how it is In the real world, Fontaine is not a wholly just and fair nation (e.g. the Entirety of the Fortress of Meropide, the trafficking and various other crimes that constantly happen within the nobility of Fontaine and the fact that it has yet to be thoroughly investigated/solved and continues to happen, the extreme economic and social juxtaposition between the court of Fontaine and its underground Fleuve Cendre area and Poisson) And it really sucks that the game fails to admit that or acknowledge it because then you have characters who they Want you to believe are doing the right thing and fighting for the right causes, but it winds up feeling meaningless when what they’re fighting for is the law of Fontaine.
Chevreuse would’ve been an Infinitely more interesting and compelling character if her passion for justice wasn’t rooted in upholding the law and order of the nation, but rather what justice means for individuals. How the injustice and discrimination happening in that nation breeds people’s want for revenge and justice outside of the law.
And yeah I get that they wanted another character who fights against evil and is unwavering in her beliefs of what’s right in the very conventional and legal way, but I find it really funny that Chevreuse herself says what makes the argument for her character being boring In the same event quest; when asked about possibly changing the ending and meaning of the Two Musketeers, she says she wants to keep the ending the way that it is because fiction exists in a realm separate from that of reality, where things like the morals of what’s just and unjust can be explored. and like!! that’s it’s!!! I’m literally sitting here playing a Fictional game that has the opportunity to showcase just how fascinating it can be to talk about those kind of things in a fantasy setting where your main player character has literally Killed mostly innocent human people before because they betrayed someone they cared about deeply. but whatever. WHATEVER!!!

Rating Rune Factory Children
(Because I play favorites)
Rune Factory (1)
1/10
Cute but not much else to say. You have to wait a ridiculous amount of in-game time to get one short cutscene meeting your genderless nameless child (Game doesn't even bother to give them pronouns) and then never get to interact with them again. Disappointing.
Tumblr media
Rune Factory 2
8/10
A unique idea that the series has yet to implement again, this game let you play through the second half of the game AS your child from the first half, and honestly It was a cool concept even if the gameplay got a little wonky and unbalanced near the end. The game also introduced the first female protagonist to the series, Aria (left). She and her twin Aaron (right) actually had some personality of their own and even had unique interactions with the other villagers and children of the town. Cool concept and solid designs. I just wish you could interact with them a little more as a parent before the timeskip.
Tumblr media
Rune Factory Frontier
7/10
I may be a little biased here, as this was my intro to Rune Factory, but I love these kids. Default names; Leif and Leona, are the first, and so far only, RF children you can interact with at multiple stages, these kids have several cutscenes documenting different milestones and are quite cute to watch. Once they reach the final stage, they don't do much besides toddle around the farm and look cute. You can gift them certain items but that's about it. Still, It's refreshing to watch your kid grow over time as apposed to the usual montage you get with RF kids.
Tumblr media
Rune Factory 3/ Rune Factory 3 Special
3/10
They get bonus points for being the first in the series to let you have multiple kids (up to three) problem is, there's not much difference between em. The birth of each one plays about the same and while there's technically some different "personalities" it's more like each kid get a random lot of four or so unique lines of dialogue and that's it. There are also just the two sprites so if you have two or more of either gender they'll be identical, no matter the age difference. You can't gift them and they don't sleep, leave the house or even show up on the map. Honestly they're little more than cute house accessories.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rune Factory Tides of Destiny/ Rune Factory Oceans
4/10
First off, please pardon the crappy quality. This game doesn't have traditional character portraits so it's hard to find decent quality pics. Tides of Destiny kiddos were the first in the series to inherit physical features from the player's spouse. (Pictured are Electra's daughter and Sonja's son) They appear to use the same child models as Frontier with some minor cosmetic changes but I liked Frontier's kids so no complaints there. I do wish they had real portraits and more dialogue but they're okay. At least they'll accept gifts and the events leading up to their births are quite wholesome.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rune Factory 4/Rune Factory 4 Special
9/10
RF4's kids are darn near perfect. Luna and Noel have identical dialogue but they have more to say than any RF kids before or possibly since. There are TONS of unique exchanges and events with them, they participate in festivals, and most interesting of all, you can equip them with gear and take them adventuring! These babies are really something special. If I had to pick one complaint, I'd say I wish they looked liiiittle more like their concept art. They look like they both got aged up a little, which isn't bad but they do look barely younger than some of their possible parents...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rune Factory 5
9.5/10
Rune Factory 5's children are right up there with Noel and Luna, but they get a slight advantage when it comes to customization. Like RF3 this game lets you have up to three kids, but unlike that game, these kiddos are treated like actual characters. Depending on your choice of spouse and your answers in a particular conversation, your kids can have a variety of looks and personalities, including the fan favorite feature of inheriting hair and eye colors from the spouse, and continuing along that customization train, these babies can once again go adventuring! My one, one small gripe...It'd be nice if your eldest could grow a little by the time their siblings are born. Heck, it'd be cool if the villagers kids could grow too. I'd love to see teenaged Julian and Hina~
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So there's my thoughts on the Rune Factory children. I hope future installments continue the trend of more giving their kids more personality and better customization, maybe someday we'll even see kiddos inherit traits from non-human parents? How cool would that be if your kid could actually look half elf or mermaid or furry wereanimal? XD
If you agree with me (or strongly disagree) feel free to comment. Always up for discussing my favorite franchise~
OK!!!!!! OK COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [also the fact the music that plays over this scene is JUST the duel links start menu screen music is SO good. 4th wall really rattling a bit at its seams.]
LIKE. ZOO WEE MAMA. THIS IS A CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE OF A LORE DROP HUH!!! A.) ok so now we have the VRAINS crew made aware of the fact there are other dimensions full of other Duelists in this virtual realm with them. cool cool COOL COOL!!! But furthermore B.) OH OK SO ALL THOSE UNLOCK EVENTS WITH CHARACTERS WHO SHOULDNT BE ALIVE??? ALL THOSE INSTANCES OF CHARACTERS BEING HERE WHEN IT SHOULDNT BE POSSIBLE??? All of those moments of DL denizen memories being read and recreated?? that's just A SIDE EFFECT. OF THE ACTUAL INNER WORKINGS OF SETO KAIBA'S WILD RIDE. DUEL LINKS IS ACTUALLY LINKING AN UNTOLD NUMBER OF CONSCIOUSNESSES ACROSS THE MULTIVERSE, FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON weaving these dimensions and their inhabitants (living AND dead) together in the process, potentially irreversibly. Linking their subconscious thoughts together and creating a virtual playground from the resulting slurry. I'd call it a hivemind BUT IT'S NOT EVEN THAT. IT'S SOMETHING EVEN WEIRDER. The minds of dozens of Yugioh characters being linked together but keeping the individual intact. And for what. FOR WHAT!!!!
"What will happen when every mind is connected?" YEAH GREAT QUESTION. WHAT WILL HAPPEN, SETO??????? since this STILL does all link back to one rich kid with a grief processing deficiency. haha... "link."
GOD. SPINS AROUND REAL FAST. this is huge and this is baffling and this is scary and i am SO excited for happens next. Where do we go from here!!! Why's Ai being so quiet all of a sudden!!! How do the Rush Duel Worlds fit into all this!!! Is the VRAINS gang going to be able to MAKE CONTACT with characters from the other worlds????!?! PLEASE. PLEEASE. we've now got a solid baseball team's worth of guys looking into This Increasingly Complex and Cosmically Horrifying Freemium Mobile Game's Inner Workings and i cannot WAIT to see what the next breakthrough is!
I think I've figured out the rest of First Soldier's plot (or at least how I'd write the rest of it while we wait)
Had some conclusive shower thoughts. Lots of this might not even happen. But the way that last chapter concluded definitely gave me an idea of the current trajectory (Read my recap if you haven't).
Sephiroth hasn't deserted Shinra so much as defied it, believing that there won't be any consequences like a typical teen getting his first taste of freedom.
Chapter Seven will be reuniting with Rosen and Refu, possibly saving them from the Mana overflow. We will get the cutscene with Sephiroth talking to Rosen. And Rosen will tell Sephiroth he needs to choose whose lives to save. This is important!!!
Shinra will arrive, Hojo in tow. Based on how Seph currently talks about Hojo, it's likely he doesn't think ill of the scientist yet, even if it's clear from the Halloween event that Hojo had abused him.
Sephiroth will be presented with a bargaining chip in exchange for his friends' lives. Kill Rosen, the last Rhadoran. That's what he came here to do, right?
The necklace might be brought up again. Hojo will tell Sephiroth that he'll get more answers about his mother if Sephiroth complies. In fact, he'll tell Sephiroth EXACTLY where she is.
Sephiroth hesitates. Glenn tells him not to do it, that he gets to decide, that he's not a cyborg, etc.
Rosen ends up dead regardless. Either Sephiroth succumbs to his fear of Hojo and kills him or Rosen fights back and Sephiroth's survivalist drive kicks in and he kills him.
Either way, Rosen is dead. Glenn is angry.
Matt and Lucia are killed. Hojo breaks his promise and guns them down but Glenn survives and lives to blame Sephiroth for everything.
For added measure, Hojo twists the knife deeper and tells Sephiroth his mother is dead.
Sephiroth hates Hojo for the rest of his life.
Glenn escapes to Wutai and takes the dog with him.
Flashforward to the future. Sephiroth and Glenn fight. Glenn survives and shows up in Rebirth as the hooded guy.
Sephiroth's guilt over Lucia and Matt is what influences him to be more covert in protecting Angeal and Genesis in Crisis Core. And since the opening cutscene takes place right during Gen's desertion, this theme of futility comes into play. Sephiroth will lose everything all over again.
That's it in a nutshell. At least that's what I currently THINK is going to happen. If I'm wrong, cool. I'm really interested to see where this goes.
A deep dive into the MK1 cinematics (PT1?)
Hi, I'm a nerd and I like breaking apart scenes for small details and hidden meanings that adds to the overall story. For my first official post on The Collective Fixation blog, Mortal Kombat 1 is going to be topic subject today. I’ll be talking about random scenes in the game and trailer that I found really cool and some of the relationships between characters. (I actually blame my family for introducing me to MK1 the other month and I’ve literally not stopped thinking about it so lets get into it hehehe.)
!WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Ok MK1 is definitely in my top three list of best looking cinematics in video games.
Tumblr media
This scene from the trailer was my favourite because it uses the lighting in the building as a medium for foreshadowing. Scorpion (Kuai Liang) being in the warm, bright lighting while Sub-Zero (Bi-Han) being in the cool, dark lighting. The light side referring to Liu Kang as he is first seen with light around him as he ascends down and Shang Tsung representing the dark side as he steps out of dark shadows revealing himself in the trailer. Foreshadowing the betrayal and the two sides of the story that occurs further on in the story.
Tumblr media
When Smoke first gets introduced he is seen under red light which can indicate danger or a sense of evil, paired with the dramatic shift in music from calming to almost a startling shift into a intense music. This convinces the audience to think that he is the antagonist in that current moment. The extreme close up on his face shows off his emotions, which is difficult to do since he has the mask on, so actors have to get creative with their facial expressions. We see this with the intense look Smoke has when surveying the area, indicated with his eyebrows and eyes. Also the camera pans left to show off more red light on his face. The camera is below his face making a low camera angle, low camera angles most commonly indicate a sense of power, strength and intimidation to the subject in frame.
(Side note: Live Laugh Love low camera angles, you see them so much in this game and I love itttttt)
The film codes (technical and symbolic) in the scenes between Johnny Cage and Kenshi Takahashi play an important part in the growth of their relationship. When Kenshi is revealed to the audience, the camera pans up from his feet to his sword to his face leaving in at a low camera angle. This increases dramatic tension by slowly revealing to the audience what Johnny sees. When taking in account of the music changing to a upbeat fighting kind of soundtrack the audience makes the conclusion of you guessed it danger, antagonist.
(Ofc cause he isn't the actual villain in the game but as the time he is lol)
(Side note: i love the way the game developers made it so the cameras seems hand held or on a dolly and not fixed in place, seems like we are in the game/story experiencing everything with the characters.)
Tumblr media
Not that important but I love how the light from the pool reflects off both Johnny and Kenshi, its all about the details.
Now lets talk about THE SLOW MO BETWEEN JOHNNY AND KENSHI. Gotta admit, it caught me off guard a little, because normally a slow mo is used to focus on a character’s emotional reaction to a person, place or event in that current moment. And after thinking long and hard, I have come up with a conclusion on why the directors made this decision.
To show the tension between Johnny and Kenshi. Kenshi at the beginning of the story does not like Johnny or his ideals, its shown between dialogue when talking about their reasons to becoming Earthrealm defenders and Kenshi disapproval. And is the base of why they interact in the first place, because Kenshi wants Sento and Johnny wont give it over. The slow mo focuses on kenshi’s facial expression of aggravation and intensity about his fight with Raiden and about Johnny’s bad sport man ship in the previous scene with Johnny vs Raiden when Johnny’s ego was talking was basically he talked down Raiden’s abilities. This contrasts Kenshi’s ideals of honour.
(side note again, I haven't done a full deep dive on their characters nor have I done a deep dive on a character so I may have gotten some stuff wrong but I haven't fully played the entire game yet I'm like halfway rn so yea)
Ok that’s all for now, I’ll maybe talk about more scenes once I fully play through the game. Feel free to share your options because I love talking about these kind of things.
Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon - All Dr. Eggman cutscenes
youtube
IT'S FINALLY HERE
All Eggman cutscenes and in game island encounter conversation dialogue since people keep leaving them out. Marked by chapters for easy access.
I really enjoyed Eggman in this story update, a huge improvement over the original ending's events! I love how Eggman hates the teamwork and hero stuff but when it's about saving him specifically and the world he wants to rule like Sage put it, he's a very pleased and smug bastard and it really shows his selfishness. They also have another brief good in character interaction at the end to, it's all a breath of fresh air after the fandom's mass misinterpreting.
Both Eggman's grumpy old man and evil villainous side were represented well here lol. I like how he got to do something cool and be little more involved with a slightly more active role in the story. And it's really cool that he's now on the map in the islands too, I liked hearing about his research and his thoughts and feelings on things. I could listen to him telling me all the lore for hours heheh 💜 And Mike Pollock's performance was fantastic!
Solid story upgrade overall. ^^
Season of the Deep cutscene reveals
I don't even know how to begin this but oh my god. The cutscene. The origins of the Witness. I am absolutely on the floor right now. I will post the link as soon as we have it but until then, I'll try to do it justice with screenshots. This is absolutely groundbreaking for the whole setting. I'll put it under just in case (also it's long). Seriously don't click until you watch the cutscene:
First things first, the prediction was correct! The first victims are the Witness' people!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This matches with the first message from Ahsa, about the first victims being "nomads and wanderers." They appear to have discovered the Traveler:
Tumblr media
It's interesting how it's shown here. As if rising from the ground. Probably artistic visual to show that it gardens and transforms the earth around it, but maybe it might also be showing that this was the first spot it showed up to garden. As if it emerged here first. The rest of the cutscene seems to support that, given that the Pyramid ships did not exist before this so there was nothing to chase it. So it was either gardening before this without being chased or it never gardened before and this was the first place it touched as it spawned into the universe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This matches the stuff about how they ended up getting to live in a big city in an oasis. The Traveler did for them it did for us, helping them get into a golden age. But as the messages from Ahsa said, they wanted something more from it, which isn't what the Traveler wanted to give them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love love LOVE how ominously it shows them building what would later become the Pyramid ships.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Man. Chills. And then their discovery of the Veil! Interesting information; they didn't make it or have it inately, they found it by studying the Traveler. This lends credence to Ahsa's messages where she talks about "two halves of a whole long divided" as being about the Traveler and the Veil.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They went out to find and take the Veil, which they did. The Black Fleet already fully developed. It's interesting how the Veil is show up there without the Tree of Silver Wings/roots section.
Tumblr media
Super cool stuff about how they got to perceive the Light as negative:
They already knew much about the Light. How it could bend the laws of the universe and create life. But they came to realise that it could bring ruin... just as easily. The cosmic events it set in motion could wipe out entire civilisations in a heartbeat... without reason. And so they saw the Light not as a source of prosperity... but of unfettered chaos.
This fits with how the Unveiling describes the Gardener deciding to pursue complexity and the Winnower being entirely put off by the mere idea that things could grow to be complex, uncontrollable and chaotic:
Your new rule will only make great false cysts of horror full of things that should not exist that cannot withstand existence that will suffer and scream as their rich blisters fill with effluent and rot around them, and when they pop they will blight the whole garden. Whatever exists because it must exist and because it permits no other way of existence has the absolute claim to existence. That is the only law.
This side of the Darkness philosophy despises chaos. It despises the idea that everything can develop as it wants, that there's no order, no goal, no rules, nothing special to strive for, just free will and your own choices. It seems that the Witness' people came to this conclusion too as they delved into studying the Darkness and started regarding the Light as too chaotic and without rules to follow. Without rules, there is no way to control anything and things can go in directions you can't predict which deeply troubled them. That means that anything could happen, including entire civilisations being destroyed for "no reason." Talk about an existential crisis.
Tumblr media
The object in the top left corner showed up as they mentioned the Veil which seems to imply that this is their symbol for it and it's really really good because that's the symbol we know from Rhulk's Pyramid:
Tumblr media
Here it is looming over Lubrae; is the Veil responsible for the power the Witness used over Rhulk and for Rhulk which led to Rhulk rising as a disciple and destroying Lubrae?
Darkness is described as:
Tumblr media
And then The Woman :) with the text as she appears and gets sliced:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in the Darkness they found the means to carve away the chaos of existence. To calcify it into a final shape. Eternal... and perfected.
Much to think about what the statue means now. I'll have to rewatch this and everything about it a few more times. But after this detour, it's revealed that the Witness' people returned the Veil to the Traveler and tried making a connection, just like at the end of Lightfall, in order to "reshape reality itself." Big potential implications for the portal:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the Traveler said no and left. And then it happened.
Having witnessed the truth in the Darkness, they used its binding power to merge themselves... into the salvation they craved. Thus began the Witness's pursuit... its campaign to impose meaning on a meaningless universe.
The reason the Witness has a smoke filled with faces above its head is beacuse that's all of the Witness' people merged together into one being, eternally in pursuit of the Traveler (Gardener), to "reshape reality itself" and to "impose meaning on a meaningless universe."
Tumblr media
There are a few very grim scenes of the merging which shows a lot of of dismembered bodies in the shape of a triangle just piling up and then something akin to their essences being pulled into one to create the Witness. Incredible stuff.
Tumblr media
Wildest shit I've ever seen. Seems also like we're on a good track with the general theme the game is setting up here. The Darkness is a power of the mind and consciousness and was used to create this being. They learned so much about the Darkness by studying the Veil and the Veil is inextricably linked with the mind and consciousness as well. Its link with the Traveler could, apparently "reshape reality" which, again, interesting implications for the portal now and possibly strengthening my theory that in order to enter the portal and survive, we must get in by transferring our consciousness or perhaps merging our consciousness with something.
Still much to learn about! And we might, given that Sloane has told us that Ahsa and her bond became too weak for Ahsa to also tell us how to get through the portal, but that she will be ready to say more next time.
Tumblr media
This season might actually end with telling us how to go through, which I did not expect at all since we have two more seasons to go after that. But then again, this will be just in time for us to be ready for the August The Final Shape showcase; perhaps knowing how to get through and what's on the other side are the basic necessities to understand the showcase at all. Which might mean that getting through and knowing what's on the other side aren't even close to being the biggest mysteries of what's going to happen in TFS.
Absolutely insane. I will be rewatching this cutscene on repeat until the end of my days. I will never be a normal person again after this. So much stuff to think about and try to put into place now with this hindsight. I'll definitely be looking over some stuff again now that we have this information.
Okay so I beat the story of Indigo Disk last night and I'm still processing all that. There will be some discussion of leaks along with story spoilers here.
Before getting into story stuff, I completed the Paldea and Kitakami dexs just before Indigo Disk released and the shiny charm is great. Found two shinies in the Terrarium already, Peaches the Slakoth and MArty the Axew.
Really liked the first part of the story, where you fight the BB Elite Four and learn more about what's been going on with Kieran since the end of Teal Mask. Fights were pretty tough, my team was level 100 but they aren't built for competitive battles seen here.
Did not expect Lacey to be related to Clay of all people, apparently it's confirmed that Drayton is related to Drayden but I must've missed that dialogue. No signs of Crispin or Amarys being related to old Unova characters, Crispin seems like he'd be related to Chili but there's nothing for Amarys.
I was waiting for that weird peach thing from that one Teal Mask cutscene to show up but it just never did? Apparently it's a mythical and we just don't have the event yet (seems like dataminers/hackers were able to trigger the event and have this little peach loser show up in game).
Second part of the story has the gang head down into a new part of Area Zero below the lab. Kieran using a Master Ball to catch Terapagos that broke when he Terastillized it was cool, and it was nice seeing Kieran go back to his old self. Terapagos itself isn't that interesting though. Somehow Briar didn't end up being evil, same goes for Geeta. Saw Geeta show up to discuss the Area Zero trip and expected her and Briar to have some sort of evil plan together but it didn't happen, both of them are CLEARLY hiding stuff from us though.
After completing the story, you can talk to Briar and she'll give you a book she wrote about your trip to Area Zero. If you go to the Crystal Pool in Kitakami with that book, you trigger an event where you meet Sada/Turo. Not the AI, it's the original professor themselves. There's some time travel shenanigans going on, this version of the professor hasn't made the time machine or their AI copy yet. They do mention Arven though. You give them Briar's book and they give you their copy of the Scarlet/Violet book and the event ends. Paradox just happened, also if you talk to Arven with this book he just assumes you have the library's copy.
Anyway uh Kieran is the best Pokemon rival no contest.
Mods that I like on Stardew Valley
The first things I will list off are Expansions, stuff that adds a lot of new things and areas. Everything I list will have their respective link, I am pretty sure you need to be on a pc/laptop to click them but I could be wrong.
Make sure to visit this post every once in a while in case I update it. There will be a re-editted/update date below to say when was the last time I was on this post.
EXPANSION MODS - These mods adds new area's, NPC's, items, events, foods, fish and many more things!
Re-edited and worked on: 5/8/2023
( WARNING PLEASE READ!
I do want to make a fair warning to not have too many expansions at once. It can and will make your loading time last a long time, can make the game very laggy and hard to play. Adding NPC's can affect stuff greatly due to how much work it takes to make an NPC. I am not telling you how to play the game, if you feel like adding all of these at once into your game then go ahead, but I am warning you now just so that you know why your game is lagging so much.
The next warning is to make sure you install all of the things that a mod needs! It will be on the requirements on the mod page. I am not to blame if you download said mods and not look at the requirements.
THANKS FOR READING! :) )
Stardew Valley Expanded - It's an amazing mod that adds 27 new NPC's, 50 locations, 260 new character cutscene events, 27 new fish, reimagined vanilla areas, two farm maps, new music, questlines, objects, crops, festivals and a lot of other things! I usually pair this with Ridgeside.
Ridgeside Village - This is a really great mod to pair with Stardew Valley Expanded! It adds 50 new NPC's, a new location, new items, new shops, new festivals, new music, new quests and a lot more stuff! To get to the village, from your farm go to the bus stop and then go behind the bus, there should be a set of stairs! Go up them and go up the lift and there's the new area! Just follow the upper path for a shorter way to Ridgeside, or take the long way along the bottom path.
East Scarp - Another amazing mod that brings a whole new town! It adds new NPC's, a new farm, new locations, new fish, new shops, special orders and lots of secrets! To get to the town, go into Pelican town and go to the Blacksmith house. Above it is a path, take it to the bridge and go across it. Just keep heading that way and you will load into East Scarp!
Downtown ZuZu City - Now, this mod is pretty cool! This adds the imfamous ZuZu city to the game! You remember how a lot of NPC's talk about ZuZu City but you can never go? Well, here you go! This expansion adds new NPC's, 7 NPC's to befriend and marry, new foods, new items, new weapons, moving cars that can and will kill you if you stand in front of them, a ZuZu Obelisk, a secret puzzle hidden in the ZuZu Sewers and many more things!
Stardew Aquarium - This adds an aquarium to the Valley! To get to it, you need to have access to the train. Make sure you download all the prerequisites that the mod asks for, because it's very important so you can get to the Aquarium! You can donate fish to the Aquarium if you don't feel like selling them or eating them, and watch them swim around! There is also a beach outside of the Aquarium and new shops!
QUALITY OF LIFE MODS
( Here are mods that I absolutely love to play with my game or mods that I may not use but you might like to use! )
NPC Map Locations - It does exactly as the title says! It shows the location of NPC's on the map and the optional Minimap. This mod is really good at tracking down those pesky NPC's that you want to shove gifts at.
Look Up Anything - By pressing F1 while in game, you can look up anything! Like a villagers bio, when a crop will be ready to harvest, how long a fence will last, why your farm animals are sad, and a lot more! ( Yes, I know that's exactly what the actual description says, leave me alone! 😂 )
Generic Mod Config Menu - This mod is very important! I would highly suggest you download this one with any other mods you have because it lets you configure said mods in the starting menu rather then going through the game files for it. You can also prep this with a shortcut key to access it while in the actual game itself.
Tractor - This adds a tractor to the game that you can purchase from Robin! It takes a bit to get the money and items in default, but if you go into the config, you can lessen the items and money costed to make it. This mod helps you water plants, cut down trees, break rocks, dig up dirt and much more!
Automate - I love this mod a lot. You put a chest near a machine and it will automatically use the items in it to create the desired item you want. Like say you put it near a keg, if you have fruit in it like Strawberries, it will make Strawberry Wine! It will beat the pesky task of going to all of your kegs and putting berries in them or collecting them when they are done.
UI Info Suite - This mod provides a lot of information about what's going on. Here is a list of what it can do from the mod page itself:
Display an icon that represents the current days luck
Display experience point gains
Display a dynamic experience bar that changes based on your current tool or location
Display more accurate heart levels
Display more information on item mouse overs, including items that are still needed for bundles
View calendar and quest billboard anywhere
Display icons over animals that need petting
Display crop type and days until harvest on mouseover
Display icon when animal has item yield (milk, wool)
Sprinkler, scarecrow, beehive and junimo hut ranges
Display npc locations on map
Skip the intro by pressing the Escape key
Display an icon for Queen of Sauce when she is airing a recipe you don't already know
Display an icon when Clint is upgrading one of your tools. Icon will tell you how long until the tool is finished and shows you which tool you are upgrading.
7. Skull Cavern Elevator - The title says it all! An elevator to the floors you travel to in the Skull Cavern!
8. Kitty Channels - It's a pretty simplistic mod that changes the TV channel people into cute kitty cats. What's not to love?
9. Better Beach Forage - You ever get tired that there isn't enough Beach Forage? This helps that need. It improves the spawn rate of the beach forage and even adds crabs to the beach!
10. Yet Another Harvest with Scythe Mod - This mod lets you harvest stuff with your scythe! You can still pluck them but using the scythe ( in my opinion ) is much faster. There is a incompatibility with this mod and the Tractor mod. So don't have these two mods together.
11. Move it - This mod lets you move things everywhere. Well, almost everywhere. There are limits. But you ever have your new farm and there is a tree stump in the way that you really want to move? This mod lets you do that. But I will say this, read the description of the mod to know its capabilities and its warnings.
12. Gift Taste Helper - This displays helpful tips that shows an NPC's favorite gifts when you hover over their icon on the calendar or social tab in your menu.
13. To Dew - With a press of the key, you can set notes for yourself at the corner of the screen. When you complete it, just click it and it gets crossed out. You can even make the notes yearly, monthly or daily. Please look at the description for more information that I may have accidentally left out.
14. Turn To Your Enemies - Whenever you attack, if there is a monster close to you, you will immediately turn to them. It's quite helpful for those that are still new to battle.
15. Fashion Sense - This mod gives you a pocket mirror you can use to customize yourself. I would 100% suggest looking into the description for more information. This mod is definitely worth a look at, especially if you love changing clothes or your hair in game.
16. Deluxe Grabber Redux - This removes the ability of you having to harvest crop, foraging, digging up artifacts and harvesting animals. Go into the config menu either in the game files or Generic Mod Config mod then adjust this to however you see fit!
17. Kitty Themed Scarecrows - This mod is very simple, it replaces the looks of normal scarecrows to that of kitty cats! They look like they are standing on perches. It's a lot more humane looking then some images that look like the stick is up its butt.
18. Starry Night Interface - This changes color to a lot of things in game. From the in-game dialogue boxes to the in game menu! Give it a look at!
19. Wear More Rings - You can wear more rings then two in game! You have five fingers on each hand, so why can't you wear rings on them all? Go into the config in either the mod file in the folders or in Generic Mod Config.
20. Autofill Pet Bowl - I don't consider this cheating really. I absolutely love this mod because sometimes I can be extremely forgetful, and that means I either forget to feed my farm animals or water my cat/dog. This eliminates having to water your pet, so you don't have to worry at 1:50am that you didn't feed your pet.
21. Tidy Crafting Menu with Optional Balancing - This sorts out the crafting menu in your in game menu, it makes it a lot more cleaner and it just makes more sense.
22. Fishing Info Overlays - Gives you an overlay at the corner of your screen when you take out your fishing rod to show you what fish you can get in that area.
23. PFM Automate - This is a very good mod to pair with Automate. It lets you connect some modded machines to chests to get the job done! But this doesn't work on every modded machine, so be aware.
24. Convenient Chests - This allows you to auto stack item to chests with a press of a key, so you don't have to open the chest to throw stuff in!
25. ChestEx - This mod lets you change the colors of your chests and name the chests! Of course, you can change the color of chests in the normal unmodded game, but this lets you change more then just a few colors.
MODS THAT MIGHT BE A LITTLE CHEATY
Friends Forever - This mod removes friendship decay. Very handy for someone who doesn't really like paying close attention to other villagers while balancing out everything else in the game.
No Fence Decay - This mod removes the fence decay feature from the game. No more replacing the fences!
Better Farm Cave Forage - This mod is here because in my opinion, this can give you a lot of options early game. Along with donations to the community center early on.
Chests Anywhere - This lets you access your chests anywhere you are. No more throwing chests down at the entrance to the mines to dump stuff and go back into the mine!
~ More to come soon! ~
the plant's plastic, isn't it
yeah the plant is plastic
Tumblr media
can't a boy and his cat just have a fucking summer vacation without being locked in a dream panopticon
Tumblr media
its nice to see you girl but where the fuck is igor, in my recollection when igor has not been around, shit has been Fucked.
(I assume they couldn't get the VA for this gig, but also: i love Igor? yeah.)
Tumblr media
It's fucking Zuckerberg, Reverie, come on. You shouldn't have installed that spyware shit on your phone!!!!
Tumblr media
i'm gonna be real, the textures are NOT fantastic in this game, lmao. I am gonna peek at settings later. the aliases need some more anti juice.
Tumblr media
there's a statue there?????
/googles
oh huh i.......... never noticed that. i just noticed the pretty trees. whoops. i'm a bad tourist.
Tumblr media
Rather than directing us where we need to go to get the camping shit, the shitty AI is like "hey INSTEAD I am going to direct you to an idol event nearby" this thing is atrocious and we should uninstall it and go back to mapquest
also, I have made an Executive Decision. I am resetting my emotions on Ryuji to zero. I am taking my hatred and ire and all the times he made me uncomfortable as the player of the video game, and I'm putting them all into a box and putting those emotions away. I am going to give Ryuji Persona5Strikers another shot to not be a contemptuous little shitheel I want to eject from the story.
Mostly because his voice actor is doing such good work and I would like to like Ryuji.
But if he dehumanizes or sidelines Morgana, the deal is off, okay? Okay.
ANYWAY, Ryuji is like, hyped for this instagram girl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reverie only hangs out in coffee shops that have oat milk and attends shows for bands you've never heard of, he doesn't care about influencers.
Tumblr media
OH WOW OKAY
Alice Hiiragi.... Hiiragi......... why the fuck is that familiar..............
oh, Hiiragi was the Enka singer who was married to Namatame in Persona 4 before the scandal went down. I wonder if that's relevant or just a coincidence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh okay so something screwy is going on and she's going to, like, kidnap all the people who have cards, or something? is she the white rabbit?
lmao no she actually references the white rabbit later. okay. i DO like her theme and vibe a whole lot, even if she is giving heavy Acid Trip Pastel Tim Burton Bad Guy energy. But Wonderland is honestly a very cool foundation for a neat villain, so I'm cool with that.
Tumblr media
thanks, they're fake so everyone thinks i'm a soft boy when really i'm more punk rock than iggy pop at a ramones concert. hi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I appreciate the consistency, Morgana, lmao.
Tumblr media
uh "Keyword"?????
oh my god EMMA is just a reskinned Metanav fffffff
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YOU KNOW WHAT reverie i am blaming you for this. You should have informed Morgana that you had a dream in the Velvet Room, since Morgana literally was born there and it might've clued him in to "oh hey maybe shit is going down" instead of being blissfully oblivious in vakittycation mode like a chump.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
huh the anime cutscenes look way better in this game than in P5R actually. dunno why.
BUT YEP IT SEEMS ALICE HAS A PALACE. the Cognitive World is back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh okay that seems bad. so everyone who friended Alice with the EMMAnav is getting their hearts torn out???? what does that mean exactly? it seems bad. people need their hearts or weird shit happens, either Apathy Syndrome or having their cognition rebooted like in P5.
I am Concerned.
Tumblr media
oh my god what is Happening there is so much on my screen right now
i think i might be bad at this oh dear
the first move Reverie learns is a pole dance, though, so I'm pretty psyched for that. maybe this will be the game where Reverie finally gets to follow his dreams and wear a skirt.
Tumblr media
everyone is off their game at being a Thief i see
Tumblr media
me IRL out loud: oh my god i love you
WHAT A FUCKING LOOK THAT'S AMAZING
i am sad she is probably just the first arc villain because WOW i am DIGGING this. god that FLAMINGO HEAD STAFF this is such High Kitsch, it's giving me everything.
Tumblr media
asklfjds;af /laughing hysterically to self
okay persona 5 strikers we are starting on some high notes huh
reverie are you sure you aren't dreaming, man, this feels like a dream you might've had except the person stepping on you in stilettos would be a mean boy.
maybe that's Reverie's type. bisexual but mean-attracted.
aaaaaargh my Odin is outta battery, i gotta recharge it.
BUT SO FAR besides me fucking sucking at the gameplay THIS IS A GOOD START.
DMC Questions Anon here!
A game starring Nero while Dante and Vergil are in hell has been announced and Capcom has placed you in charge! What are your plans for the game?
Okay I know I took 84 years to get to this but I forgor
So, If we're making a game without the Shit Twins, then I want the game to have everyone else. Both because everyone else deserves the screen time and to highlight the twin's absence.
Basically, it's the Devil May Cry business still doing it's thing. We got Trish, Lady, and Morrison at the shop. This location will have both main and side quests, both as Nero and as the ladies. Patty of course makes an appearance as well. Maybe she's the center of some quests, maybe she's just hanging out at the shop.
The shop will of course be placed in a map of whatever city it's in, and we can populate it with some characters from the anime. How are Brad and Angelina doing???? Hello???
But I think the main part of the game should be Nero doing his mobile business. I haven't played Assassin's Creed in ages, but I vaguely remember being able to choose missions from a map? So it'd be cool to choose the missions Nero goes on, which he and Nico drive to in their van.
Home base is in Fortuna, naturally. There's some maps that cover both the city and maybe the forest. The main feature is Nero's house. Kyrie is a permanent fixture there for quests (esp silly ones involving the kids) and to help further the story.
So, what is the story?
Well, let's suppose that Vergil's Qliphoth has had some unintended consequences. Maybe a high level demon was able to use the Qliphoth to enter the human world and escaped Urizen's notice. This will be our Big Bad. Maybe Big Bad has beef with Nero specifically because of his lineage. Maybe it's someone who knew Mundus and/or Sparda. Maybe they really fucking hate Vergil and Dante.
Whatever the reason, they're out causing trouble in the human world through a series of seemingly unrelated incidents, and Nero and the DMC gang have to investigate and figure out what's going on. At the end, Nero is able to take down this enemy, proving his strength to all the Nero haters out there. I'm unsure if he should get another power up. I'm leaning towards no, because he only just got his DT, but I'm aware the powerups are part of DMC's appeal.
The theme of the game is 'Nero coming to terms with having a family and having to clean up the messes the dumbasses left behind.' There's a lot of potential for dialogue with Nico and cutscenes with Kyrie to explore Nero and where he is mentally after the events of DMC5. And the fact that he can't even ask the assholes in question makes it all the more interesting, because no one can (or will) give him answers. And I think that would make the eventual reunion of Nero and the twins all the more rewarding, because we'll have been in Nero's shoes.
The Special Edition DLC is the only way Vergil and Dante show up in the game. Aside from flashback cutscenes, maybe.
thank you for the well wishes yesterday! i am making this post to clarify some stuff
i realize its a bit funny to drop a trailer when i've only updated this blog once or twice every month. i think i work best in secrecy..
but, for those wondering:
the game can currently be played from start to finish, if that wasnt already clear-- not all, but Most of the endings i want are implemented in some way (i.e. the CGs might be storyboards, or there might not be sounds, etc). i'm not saying how many there are yet though just in case i make some changes :p
There is also a major event i am thinking of changing a little so that its easier to come across (can you tell im trying to be vague?), but... i imagine i can do it in a day once i get around to doing so.
all item art is done. all music tracks are done. 99% of character sprites are done. tilesets are done. that's pretty cool i think. i fear there are a lot of loose ends, but when i actually go and think about it, there really isn't a lot left to do. exciting.
Anyway, i dunno how many photo posts ill have to show over the next month. i am truly addicted to keeping secrets secret. so we'll just have to see. i am off to go draw more cutscene art now; thanks for reading.
I think my D/ave the Div/er insert would be an event character, who shows up when all your employee slots are filled, and I'm like hey I need a job!!! And Dave is like umm well we're pretty good on staff right now but I can still take your application! And we talk, and Dave finds out I'm a struggling artist who came here to get inspiration but my job fell off and I'm unemployed and surviving off my art
and then I just keep coming back to ask about it, and Dave keeps forgetting to talk about me with Ba/ncho and Cob/ra FJDSHKJFHDSK but I hang out, and like other event characters I ask for a specific dish, and just wait every night for that dish and when I get it I do the AOWOAOWAOAWWAHHHH cutscene the other event characters do FHSDKJFHDS and SUPER FAST MAKE A REALLY COOL ART FROM THE INSPIRATION FROM THE FOOD, right in front of Dave and then he's like WOW!!!!! you're a really good artist!!! and then that unlocks... like... idk some like advertising graphic design mechanic idk
Morgott Thoughts because I love his character and Fromsoft should not be cowards and give him a Figure, and I will FIGHT THEM IF THEY DON- also some Mohg thoughts!
Elden Ring Spoilers
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Ngl, Morgott’s whole identity as the King of Leyndell is really funny when you think about it
Like imagine just being a rando after the Shattering and the Night’s Cavalry come in and basically just go “Uhhhh hey folks, new king! He’s a uhhhhh, “descendant” of the Queen! O-oh, you wish to see him? Well uh, that’s- that’s impossible, so. At least you guys have a King, though!”
And he earns titles such as the “Veiled Monarch” from his mysterious presence, and the one that cracks me up is “Morgott the Grace-Given”, because that man deadass just went “Hmm, I wonder how I could possibly hide my Omen heritage… I’ve GOT IT” and just called himself the Grace Given
Also one thing that’s also funny as hell is his appearance in the intro. Because he’s tackling a really fucking Young Radahn which you can tell because Radahn is shorter meaning he hasn’t even gotten his Great Rune yet. Meaning that an entirely possible scenario is that Morgott, immediately after the Shattering, somehow obtained a Great Rune(possibly by just scampering to the Erdtree right after), saw that others were invading, and basically just did one of those Giant Jumps that Omens do, unintentionally jumped 30 feet in the air like his Margit cutscene and just fuckin tackled Radahn.
One thing I love about Morgott and Mohg are their clearly differing stances on their family. Because you can imagine that they saw most of the events in the Capital from Sewer Grates growing up, and it’s possible that they caught glimpses of their family through them, seeing them in public places giving speeches, and possibly even seeing secret interactions between Marika, Godfrey, and Godwyn, and Marika, Radagon, Malenia and Miquella. And what you can gather is that Morgott essentially took all of those observations as “Oh wow! Look at how amazing they are! One day I’ll be free and be able to be with them, and perhaps even become loved by them as well” and Mohg thought “Where was this when we were literally thrown down a well? We deserved this, and yet we received a fate worse than the Omens born to commoners, as at least they either died or lived above ground, whereas we must live as Rats. No, no I will become far, FAR GREATER THAN THEM” and you can see it even in their naming, as Morgott keeps the name to stay in the Golden Lineage naming convention of “God/Gott”, whereas Mohg, seemingly out of envy, names his dynasty with the latter half being named after the Golden Child, Godwyn
The idea that Morgott’s act of love for his mother being basically just, keeping her and his father’s seat warm is honestly really cool to me. Because he legitimately gets remorseful after his cursed blood breaks the throne, because it’s not his, it’s his family’s, and you basically just caused its destruction
Morgott’s lack of horns after defeat is sad as hell to me because it basically shows that his rune were the reason they were there, meaning that he basically just shaved them off, nearly killing himself to do so. And the parallel between that and Mohg letting his horns overtake any human features is just really meaningful when it comes to Omens
The fact that those 2 were in what is essentially the nesting grounds for Outer Gods and only Mohg got into it with them really shows Morgott’s devotion to the Order.
Also btw can we talk about how the Sewers are where most Outer Gods apparently are? Because that’s where Mohg met the Formless Mother and that’s where the Frenzied Flame is, so it really just seems to me that they are just waiting for the Elden Beast to be killed in order to overtake the Erdtree and waiting right under its nose
I really wish we got a hint of how Morgott’s siblings would have interacted with him and Mohg. Because while at first you may think that they’d react like most would, the fact is they probably wouldn’t. Rykard went against everything the Order stood for, possibly including their hatred for Omens(especially since a Crucible Knight is in their service). Godwyn was willing to negotiate with literal dragons, so i imagine he would likely accept Morgott and Mohg with open arms. Radahn had a variety of people in his service, and wanted to be like Godfrey, rather than like idolizing the Order as a whole, and he’s also like, one of the most worldly in his family so he’s likely not that close minded. Idk abt Miquella, since he did make a have for all kinds of people, but there are no Omens there, so, idk if he’s a fan of em.
Also you cannot tell me that they got thrown into the sewers as babies when Godfrey interacted with Morgott like that. He definitely got at least a few days or years with em. He probably didn’t care about the Omen shit when his men used Crucible Incantations, he was probably just stoked to have some babies. So I headcanon that Marika decided to just throw them into the sewer either to avoid political strife or to avoid killing them outright and just told Godfrey they tried to remove their horns and they died in the process.
A Queer Study: AWL's Nami
Among the bachelorettes of the A Wonderful Life games, Nami easily sticks out the most: she has a more androgynous style compared to the other girls, is the least expressive, and is the hardest to romance--she doesn't like flowers and gems like the other girls do (with the exception of autumn's Trick Blue flowers). All of these things make it easy to headcanon Nami as LGBTQ in some fashion. Heck, I always write Nami in my fanfics as queer/genderqueer too! In my opinion, what supports this theory the most isn't Nami's appearance or behavior, but her direct dialogue with the player in A Wonderful Life. Character spoilers under the cut!
First, let's take a look at the final heart events of Celia, Muffy, and Lumina:
Tumblr media
Celia reveals that she turned down an arranged marriage to be with you.
Tumblr media
Muffy wants to make your relationship serious if you're going to take her on a date.
Tumblr media
Lumina is realizing her feelings for the player. And Nami...
Tumblr media
Nami doesn't want to go home. Note that there's a lack of the word marriage in 2/3 of the ways you can get engaged to her. You can offer her a place to live, or she can ask to live with you. But unless you give her the blue feather directly, there's no specification that you'll be getting married--just that she'll be living with you. This carries on to her betrayal cutscene too--if you propose to another girl after inviting Nami to live with you, Nami will show up on your farm to (sarcastically) congratulate you on your engagement and say that means she won't be living with you--understandable, but again, romance nor marriage in mentioned in this dialogue. Of course, this could just be Nami's personality, especially taking her other heart events into account--you have to approach Nami like a cat. If you're too pushy or friendly, she'll be repelled pretty easily. You have to let her interact on her own terms. What sticks out to me is that while the other girls make it a point to confess their love to you, Nami does not.
I was pretty young when I first played AWL; if I had gone in blind and invited Nami to live me before choosing a girl, I would've just thought "oh cool, I guess she'll be me and [Wife's] roommate then, everybody wins." Nope! It would've been quite a surprise for baby me to get to the second year and find out that I'm now married to Nami. Of course, I know that the older Harvest Moon games take place in a more old-fashioned time period. Several games lack a dating stage, so you're essentially going from love interests to engaged without much build up, like an old-timey courtship. Basically, it'd be fair to assume that the social expectation would be that a man and woman must be married, if they are to live together. That makes me wonder: would it be more accurate to say that the relationship between the player and Nami is more of a queer platonic or domestic partnership, rather than a romantic relationship? Takakura makes it pretty obvious from the start of the game that you're expected to get married and have a child, and not doing so within the first year ends your game. Nami gets to stay in the valley with her best friend, and you fulfill a familial expectation, as well as obtain a life-long companion.
Because of how old-fashioned A Wonderful Life is, I doubt this theory is true. But it's nice to think that there's an alternative relationship option for those who aren't fond of the romance aspect, and that there's representation of this kind, whether you headcanon Nami as lesbian, asexual, etc. With that being said, I do think that Nami's events with Gustafa within AWL have a lot more romantic undertones than those she has with the player. I wonder how the Story of Seasons version of Nami will be different? Will she be more affectionate? Are they going to keep rival events in? (I sure hope so--I think Gustafa & Nami are a really cute couple!)
Sorry to bring this up again, but I need to vent a little.
The thing is my biggest problem with 3.3's scaramouche quest is how he didn't really change at all as a character. What has he learn through all this? He learn that his friend never betrayed him and? How does that change his worldview? How is he affected? It's not like I'm saying that he should have undergo a 180 in personality or anything, and I understand that niwa's death and supposed betrayal is far from being the only reason he becomes like this.
But after all this, after basically a suicide attempt, after this whole ass quest, I expect him to at least have some sort of character development.
He gets a cool cutscene of recieving a vision and that's basically it. Apparently, according to his character stories, he did learn something but not everyone got him, so that doesn't change the fact it felt hollow.
But this is genshin so screw playable characters actually changing and developing, that's for NPCs.
(I just need to get this off my chest, cause it feels like I'm the only with this opinion, even if someone doesn't like this quest, it's because of the memory erasure or the 'redemption', both of which I thought the quest did alright. Not great but it could be worse)
Yeah, no, that's literally it. At the end of the day, it's "oh, I was wrong about Niwa, I shouldn't have hurt those people, I need to undo that now". Not, "I shouldn't have hurt those people, period", because he now just wants to hurt the Fatui instead. The Big Lesson was "you were wrong... about the lore!", not "you were wrong... to do awful things!"
And I firmly believe that Scara's suicide attempt was purely an excuse to facilitate him being willing to use Irminsul in the way he did in the first place, rather than something the writers wanted to actually explore in detail. I can say that with great confidence due to the absolute lack of interest HYV had in... actually making Scaramouche culpable for anything he did in a tangible way that involved any members of the main cast or resulted in any kind of karmic retribution, and as an amnesiac he responded to everything he learnt extremely calmly.
It isn't just that Scaramouche never interacts with any playable characters involved in any of this - it's that there are, specifically, playable character whose arcs relate to this event, and there was a whole event about them finding out about it in great detail, and then nothing comes of it. We're really going to spend so much time learning about the decline of the Kaedehara Clan and how that impact Kazuha growing up and his current ideologies, or hover over how Ayato had to salvage the Kamisato Clan from the ashes, and Iradori is gonna be all about Kazuha and Ayaka learning there is someone to blame for it and then just. Nothing
God help me Kazuha's fucking quest-
I genuinely have to wonder what the point of doing any of that was. Was HYV so incompetent that they genuinely used Iradori just to lay the groundwork for the Tatarasuna Mystery without realising that they had also laid the groundwork for... stories involving those characters?
And yeah, it does not escape my notice that HYV conveniently had Nahida's fairytale about kitten!Scaramouche to show us the scenes where Escher told him about Niwa via narration, and as a result they didn't actually have to write those scenes as flashbacks themselves.
Because god knows we wouldn't want to see the character, who is defined by betrayal, react to the betrayal that defines his character. In the chapter where we can see the past via a magic tree. Let's have a fairy tale metaphor. That sounds fun.
It's just so shockingly lazy. It feels like HYV did the bare minimum they could to avoid engaging with Scaramouche's feelings regarding anything that was happening, but slapped the Vision and Nahida's "you deserve to live!" monologue on at the end anyway to make it seem like growth had happened.
