POV: You Let Balan Cook (Happy Balanniversary!)
For the Balanniversary, I decided to go out on a limb and redraw a scene from my crossover casting “The Maestro in The Hat”, which you can find here.
And it’s also a follow up to this scene.
The scene in question:
Sorry if the background looks a little… lazy compared to the original scene.
Fortie; Ok, that was probably the WORST thing I could’ve possibly been asked to do! (Is having his arm bandaged)
Balan: Look. I’m not saying you’re going to sue. I’m just saying you have a case. We’ll talk later- ix nay, ix nay. Haha.
(Barktholomew, Cuckoo, Fortstopher and Fortie, and Inkabelle leave the room)
Leo; Uhhh, Bal, is the oven supposed to be making that sound?
(The oven is making short circuiting noises)
Balan: Of course; that means they’re almost done, Leonard!
Leo; Leo.
Balan: That’s what I said, Leon!
Leo: BAL!
Balan: Now that’s MY name!
(The trio rush over to the oven, and Balan puts up a force field just as the oven blows open)
(BOOM!!!!)
(KER SPLAT!!!)
(DING!)
Balan: Yep! They’re done!
Leo; Aw, man!
Balan: There’s nothing to worry about- I’m sure they still taste fine- Eugh, they’re horrible! Who wants some?
Leo and Emma: Ewww! No!

The Maestro in The Hat (The Cat in The Hat Parody Casting)
This is a birthday present for @kayssweetdreams! Happy B day!
In this adventure based on the favorite children's tale, the eccentric trouble-making Maestro Balan arrives at the home of bored young Emma Cole and her friend, Leo Craig, while their babysitter Pauline is out. The family's Waddle Dee objects to the Maestro’s presence, but that doesn't stop the hat-wearing performer from trying to have fun, no matter how much destruction is left in his wake.

So was anybody going to tell me there is a whole discarded Meet the Robinsons short explaining how Bowler Hat Guy took Tiny to the future with him? Or was I supposed to find that out completely on my own?
Like, this thing is fully story-boarded and has not one, but two different potential endings.
Both versions of the short basically have Goob telling the story of how he brought a dinosaur to the future to an audience of sorts.
This one is apparently the first version that was made of this short, it has the most completed animation out of the two versions. In this case, the short starts with him seemingly telling the story as if he's being interviewed. However, it turns out he is actually in a psych ward telling the story to a cardboard cutout crowd.

This second version scrapped some of the scenes from the first draft and it ends with the reveal that Goob is telling this story to the Robinsons in an effort to convince them to adopt him into the family, they put it to a vote, and he is given the okay. I personally like this version more, but I'm biased because it's always neat to see more of the family. Also I know Wilbur voted no.

I love the concept of this short as a whole because it builds on the whole idea of Goob as an unreliable narrator as we saw in the "They all hated me" sequence.
Another thing that caught my attention during this short was the nods to classic Disney shorts a la Mickey Mouse and friends. From how the short starts with an opening card with Bowler Hat Guy's face on it and how in one of the scenes he is even whistling Steamboat Willie.
Overall, I know that technically both versions of this short probably wouldn't work given Bowler Hat Guy's ending in the movie, but its still a really fun concept. And more Meet the Robinsons content is always a win.
