I full heartedly thought they were gonna pull a winter soldier on us with tech only to end up super disappointed they didnt

now, hear me out, if they had decided to kill tech and for him to stay that way I completely respect it; it doesn't matter how much we, fans, want for our faves not to die they just do sometimes, that's life, and I'm okay with that

however,

I feel like the whole few last episodes' anonymous soldiers' storylines were constructed in a way that made it very obvious its influences had been the winter soldier and civil war (frozen soldiers scene) movies, which is why I feel completely played with

if they had just had an elite squad of clones or something and we, again fans, had just assumed one was tech based on nothing but our desire for him not to be dead it would've been a completely different story, but the way they went about it feels like they clearly wanted all of us to, based on context clues and clear influence, deduce that one of the winter soldier like assassins had to be tech, and that feels incredibly shitty, idk

Closed rp w/ @ct-7707-stutter with spoilers from bad batch finale.

CX-2 was...confused. He had been knocked around so many times in the fight with the behemoth of a clone that his mind was constantly slipping in and out of consciousness.

He vaguely remembered Dr Hemlock taking his control band from his arm and taking the asset; the girl...why did she look at him like that? With shock and horror without his helmwt; and leaving the lab.

He remembered standing from the shadows and turned, seeing one of the other clones, the one with longer hair and the face tattoo, freeze from where he was about to spear him with the electro pike.

"it can't be...."

Then there were stun blasts from another angle and he didn't remember Anything else.

Until he woke up to the sound of ocean waves and sea birds.

Spoilers for The Bad Batch: Season 3 finale

Crosshair losing his hand felt unnecessary for me on a thematic level.

Maybe I misunderstood his arc, but I thought the hand tremors due to trauma will make him realise that he can’t be a soldier anymore, and he needs to find a new purpose for his new life, in which he doesn’t just follow orders. He can grow as a person, just like the other clones, who found life outside of the fights. The (permament) injuries could be the push he needs to make the last steps.

Then they cut his hand. And for what? The tremors are gone, but they’re psychosomatic, just a symptom of a larger problem. So nothing’s fixed. He can’t be a sniper anymore, but he can’t be one anyway (since he’s no longer accurate), so nothing new.

It’s just so unnecessary. Nothing is gained with his pain. Nothing’s changed. One shocking moment that doesn’t affect anything. The last scene with Omega is just as tense if his hand is shaking, not missing.

Two minutes out from the end of the Bad Batch season finale and I know how it ends.

I know how it ends, I know Crosshair doesn’t go with them and he chooses the Empire and they leave without him. I know they leave with five and not six, I know he chooses to stay behind with what he thinks will be right.

But god i want him to stay anyway. I want him to go with them. The two-part finale can’t have been for nothing, all those fights where he helped them, shot his squad, saved Omega with the rest of the Batch ready to gun him down — that can’t have been for nothing. Right?

I know how this ends. I know he doesn’t choose his brothers and sister, I know he goes blindly with what he thinks he knows is the right choice.

But god do I wish it went any other way.
