Ok I’m still thinking about the mafia boss/assistant thought from earlier this week. (Partially because I binged the “Mafia!141 au” by groguspicklejar)

You were the executive assistant for one of the 141’s business associates. Looking to leave for a while because your boss is obvs kind of an asshole. Like, mean to you when he’s in a bad mood, blames you for things you can’t control or plan for, has harassed you once or twice but “only because he was tipsy”. (You’re not fucking deaf, you’ve heard him make nasty comments 🙄)

Farah happens to be his next 141 enforcer check-in. You go above and beyond - apologizing that his meeting is running late as if it’s your fault, would she like anything at all? Water, tea, coffee? There are mini muffins as well!

She takes a shine you immediately, especially once she goes in for her meeting with your (soon to be former) boss. You hand him a little portfolio, obviously color-coded, with sticky notes and highlights. You even adjust the blinds behind his windows for the light about to bounce off the high rise across the street.

Before she leaves, she mentions that her boss would love an assistant like you, and if you have any recommendations…

She drops her number. You call by the end of the week.

Mr. Price meets you personally for the interview. He’s a big man, built. But somehow it’s complemented by the understated wealth he exudes. Expensive cologne, expensive cigars. A tailored suit and perfectly polished shoes. His watch alone costs half a year of your rent, but it’s fashionable, not gaudy. You hope that his taste isn’t the only nice thing about him.

You’re pleasantly surprised by how courteous he is. Shakes your hand (you’re surprised by the callouses, but dont let it show) firm and polite, without lingering. Flicks his gaze over you once, perfunctory, then focuses solely on your face for the rest of the interview.

You like him instantly, and it shows in the way you joke and gesture while answering his questions. Professional, of course, but relaxed and genuine, not the polished and bland veneer of a person your previous boss preferred.

And something about that must appeal to him as an employer because he concludes the interview asking when you can start.

You’re absolutely thrilled to tell him you can be in the next day. And he agrees.

Growing old is such a strange concept for them. None of their parents got old enough to be old at all: Mav's dad died he was shy in his forties and his mom not even in thirty-six, Ice's mom was twenty nine and his dad shoot himself at forty six. But they got to be in their forties and then in their fifties. A son, then none and then twelve of them. Slider's kids, of whom Ice was the godparent, and their birthdays and ballets and recitals and graduation parties and weddings. Too many of Ice's promotions and not enough of Maverick's.

(Pete used to joke he was going to die before his fiftieth birthday and when it come around Tom rented Penny's entire bar for the night and end up dancing and kissing with all his friends around them. The cake was horrible and the DJ even more nostalgic then them. Everyone had a great night.)

Tom's cancer (ah, we were relativitly close to grow old together love, 'm sorry) and Pete's God complex (do you think they'll give you a fidelity card? Once you reach ten visit a month at the hospital they'll offer us a free coffee?), Wolfman and Hollywood making Admirals and missing their own promotion party because they forgot to set the alarm, Bradley's fifteenth birthday and Bradley's fortieth, the shovel talk they give to Jake and their emerald anniversary. Falling in love behind closed doors, being the secret you hold against your chest and marrying in a spring day under the tree they used to plot revenge against every new class that came up at Top Gun. Blonde hair dryer swapped with black and then none at all because you look distinguish with all that salt and pepper Pete. The stack of letters they used to send one another when they were deployed that became e-mails, text messages and video calls. Soft hands and stupid back pain because they should think to invest in ergonomic sits for the new F-A, I'll make sure to pass the recommendation. The year that marked that Goose was gone as many years as he was alive. Their first apartment in only Ice's name that years later become a house with a single surnamen on it (Mitchell-Kazansky).

They know they still have so much time to grow older than that but sometimes, in mornings where the meeting aren't before 10 and the house is peacefully quiet, Pete can't help but study all the marks time left on Tom's face and he can feel the happiness bubbling in his chest and making him a little teary. We made it, he finds himself thinking before kissing is husband awake, we really made it.

I finally figured out how to get into the Pentiment game files (after downloading five different extractor programmes lol) and decided to look through the glossary page marginalia that I ignored/missed on my first playthrough.

We all know our man Andreas is a cat fan, so it’s no surprise that there are quite a few drawn throughout the game. But there are also these two cats, which aren’t quite in keeping with the style of the others:

It’s a lovely piece of art, just like everything else in the game and now I can access the texture files I’m one step closer to making a sticker set for my laptop lol. But look at it for a bit longer and then tell me they don’t remind you of one of our fave Pentiment couples…

I think @mintymyths has mentioned before that some of the illustrated frogs share a likeness with Andreas — so I like to think that these animal cameos are a recurring artistic feature of his <3

It's just when he comes home, a bag left by the door and their cat meowing for attention, that Mav remembers he didn't kiss Ice the morning he left for the mission. He didn't say goodbye either. He just- caressed his cheek because Ice was sleeping and Mav didn't want to wake him up again and murmured a "I'm going to be back soon love". Mav sits, in the middle of the living room, and the only thing he can think about is the missed kissed and how he was frenetic to be gone to be back as soon it was possible. But no kiss. No more kisses to or from his husband. Not now, not ever again. The realisation hits him harder than Warlock's words. Tom is really gone.
