REPLICA PLAYLIST
MUSIC UNDER CUT
I have been receiving requests for any songs that inspired Replica, so here, have my personal playlist. Sorry it’s not Spotify/Soundcloud but they don’t have some of these songs available so uh… guess you’re stuck with YouTube vids. For fun I'll include my personal titles for them (which might give a few hints of what to expect in the future/end).

Mikey's Theme / The 1st Vision - "Suzume no Tojimari" by Nanoka Hara

I will admit, it's a little embarrassing since you can easily see the patterns of what I've been listening to for the past year or two. I swear I listen to more than just videogame OSTs, these songs just jive well with the story and I often find lyrics distracting when brainstorming scenes. Regardless, the music I listen to is such an important part of my creative process and some of these songs really defined the scenes I now have locked in my head. So I figured it was only fair to give them the credit they're due.
I will continue to add to this playlist, and will note in comic updates when one of these songs is applicable!

Nanami gets mean when you’re being disobedient. He sticks his large, beefy fingers inside your mouth, circling them around your tongue, coating himself in your spit while he pounds you from behind. Smacking his hips against your ass, watching how it ripples with each savage thrust. “Not yet, sweetheart,” he growls, sticking a third finger in, reaching for the back of your throat, making you gag around him. He pulls out, sliding his hand between your legs, flicking your swollen clit.
“Kento, I – “ you choke on saliva while you gush around his cock with your second orgasm of the night.
“There you go, disobeying me again,” he huffs, slick-covered hand trailing up your chest, pinching your nipples. “Did I say you can come?”
Drool trickles down the sides of your lips, sweat beading across your forehead, tongue hanging out of your mouth, completely fucked out. You swallow whatever you can manage to whimper, “You didn’t.”
“Mh-hm,” he purrs, fingers wrapped around your neck now. “So what does that make you?”
You’ve practiced this before, many times in fact. As he rams into you, grip tightening ever-so-slightly around your throat, you respond, turning your neck to face him. “A fucking brat.”
He smirks, pleased with your answer. “That’s right, princess. And what do brats get?”
“Punished,” you recite, clenching around his big cock, pussy filled to the brim.
He hums in approval, grabbing your wrists to pin behind your back, thrusting even deeper into your cunt. “Correct again. Now take all of daddy’s cum like the good girl you are.”

Ohh my god I just realized something
The Signalis gameplay trailer is fucking genius. It basically encourages you to play in a way that lowers your chances of getting the "Promise" ending on the first playthrough. It doesn't encourage you to play like Elster - it encourages you to evaluate the situation like a Protektor would.
I mean, it's straight up styled as an in-universe emergency broadcast that Protektor Units would hear in the event of an enemy attack or emergency where a facility's integrity would be compromised.
This specific little tidbit basically encourages you to play in a way that ACTIVELY lowers your chances of getting the Promise ending, making it more likely you'll get Memory or Leave on your first run. Sure, you still need to weigh your chances in combat if you're aiming to fulfill your promise, but you need to put down as many corrupted Replikas as you can afford if you want to rack up the points necessary for that ending. The trailer encourages players to value self-preservation above all else. Which, y'know, that's how you usually aim to play games - you need to avoid getting hurt and you need to avoid dying, you seek the most efficient way to get to the end, but if you want the Promise ending you need to go out of your way to get hurt and die several times. You need to spend as much time as possible in the game. You need to be thorough. You need to leave nothing behind.
Point being, I think this is exactly why she doesn't remember her. The whole playthrough, you've basically been Elster in name alone. You haven't been acting like the Elster she knows. You've been dealing with the whole situation like any Replika Protektor unit would have. In her eyes, you may have been an LSTR - an extremely resourceful, versatile combat Replika, but you're not the Elster - the one who spent all those years rotting with Ariane on the Penrose, forever changed by what they shared on that one-way trip beyond the Oort cloud. Elster would raze S-23 Sierpinski just to get to her. She'd leave nothing behind. She'd die over and over if that's what it takes to finally put an end to this. What stands before her is just another stranger, another Replika, not the person she's spent all those years with. You have to show you're not just another stranger with Elster's memories. You need to prove you are her. You need to treat all of this like she would. You need to prove you remember your promise. You need to prove you value your promise. You need to prove you have become the person you need to be to end this. The loop won't end until it's molded you into the person you need to be. At least, that's how I see it.

Have you noticed the rise of young adult aimed media lately? The other day I was discussing the topic with a very dear friend of mine who surprised me by saying that she doesn't mind that at all and will gladly watch shows aimed at a younger audience.
I've been thinking about that a lot - I remember shows and movies like The Devil wears Prada, SaTC, Shoppaholic etc that featured main characters in their 20s-30s but were enjoyed by teenagers as well. These days I feel like we get the opposite, with Euphoria, Stranger Things etc - shows with a main focus on (supposed) teenagers that are aimed at older audiences as well. Very interesting!
...and annoying to me personally since I don't really find (americanised) teen life very interesting or relatable. I might rewatch a show I enjoyed while I was a teenager and I have watched shows aimed at a younger audience because I knew they would mention a topic I care about a lot that isn't discussed in adult media most of the time - but it took a while before I convinced myself I wanted to watch that show badly enough to put up with first kisses and pop quizzes and spring dances. My friend, again, has a completely different view on that and mentioned that she will gladly watch The Summer I Turned Pretty for fun and relaxation - which genuinely shocked me (because I can’t relate, not because I’m judging her — or you, if you like those shows).
So now I have to ask

people who are mad about the rwrb movie because it's not a page for page adaptation of the book are wrong because that's not how movies work and the real issue is that they included too MUCH from the book which made the movie feel rushed and lacking in depth
people who are mad about the rwrb movie because it's "bad" are wrong because it was never meant to be that serious and ignoring the actual genre of the movie and expecting prestige filmmaking from a direct to streaming summer rom com that was only ever meant to be harmless fun is cynical and stupid
i am the only person with correct opinions about the rwrb movie
