So uh, I'm watching some new Syfy show on Peacock called The Ark and it is....truly, staggeringly bad. The editing is jarring and clunky, and the acting is bad but in their defense the script is the worst thing I've seen in years. I'm barely past the first act and I've been nearly bludgeoned to death with the most expository expostion to ever exposit. I will report back as this continues to unfold. So far this makes Star Trek Picard look like a decent show.

The tapestry shows a zebra being attacked by a leopard in a river landscape, surrounded by other exotic animals and plants. The tapestry has a surprising wealth of colourful and imaginative details. In 1810, Emperor Napoleon presented this and another tapestry from the venerable Gobelin manufactory as diplomatic gifts to the Bavarian King Max I Joseph and his wife Karoline; the same year in which the Paris Treaty between France and Bavaria was concluded for the regional consolidation of territories. The imperial 'N' woven into the textile gold frame can hardly be overlooked.

This is the busiest Pearl has been in a long time. 

Well, that’s not exactly true. Her Jade is almost always busy, needing something to do or stick her nose in and often dragging Pearl with her to do the work that comes with doing that. Pearl never complains though. She couldn’t even if she wanted to. She tells herself that when she stomps out the part of herself that shouts in frustration every time her Jade does something wrong. Despite the overwhelming irritation, Pearl keeps her expression neutral. Perfectly placid as she straightens out Jade’s dress. Smoothes her hair back. Clasps her hands together in waiting as Jade looks in a mirror.

Jade had been invited to attend a party commemorating the completion (and opening) of a new colony by the Pyrope put in charge there. Everything had to be perfect. Jade must be perfect. Pearl must be perfect. As if she’d be anything less, Pearl thinks, mentally rolling her eyes as Jade shouts it at her. She’s not even sure why Jade is putting so much pressure on her to begin with. The party wasn’t due to start for a few days. They’d just have to go through this again then.

“How do I look, Pearl?”, Jade’s voice snaps her out of her thoughts. Pearl glances at her for a brief moment, looking right through her after a second. Though to Jade it looks like she’s studying her. She looked the same as usual. What else was there to say?

“You look lovely, my Jade.” She lies through her teeth.
