The thing about the ffvii remakes is that you will enjoy them more if you’ve played the original. You will also hate them more if you’ve played the original. It is impressive.

Noticing that some of the youngest Jedi younglings were afraid of the clones (bc fully grown men in armor who mostly wear helmets do seem scary to toddlers), the creche masters decide to get them some clone dolls & toys to take away that fear. That meant that a whole generation of the youngest Jedi grew up playing with self-sown dolls of different clones from different battalions. And slowly the clones stopped being these big faceless men that are sorta around out there outside, but instead are the heroes of their playings and their friends. A whole generation of Jedi children begging the older Jedi knights and masters to tell them about their clone battalion. A whole generation of children fighting over the clone dolls with the painting in their favorite colour. A whole generation of Jedi younglings growing up hearing about how great and heroic the clones are, just like the clone cadets across the galaxy who are growing up hearing how great and heroic the Jedi are.

They keep bringing up the stair thing in the show and I’m LIVING for it. Percy saying someone would do it “to make sure the quest gets done” and Ares saying someone would do it “to get ahead” but when we SAW Percy shove Annabeth down those stairs it wasn’t for any of that. He didn’t give a shit about the quest or the glory when he did it. I could almost see the thought, “I can’t let someone else die for me” leaking out of Percy’s ears when he made that choice.

So today was my first day teaching an after school elective theater class (10+ 2nd 3rd 4th grade girls) and holy shit y'all I have even more respect for teachers now than ever before because that was BRUTAL lmao it was like they could smell my fear and knew they could trample all over me. Maybe my viewpoint is skewed, seeing as I was a really meek, easygoing kid at that age, but I can't fathom just...blatantly ignoring the teacher when they tell you not to do something. I get theater is a bit more loosey goosey but damn I can't imagine treating any of my past theater teachers (or any adult for that matter) with such disregard. Hoping that they were just crazy because it was their first day back at school after summer break and they'll mellow out a tiny bit by next week.

There were two super sweet and responsible 4th graders that I'm probably going to have to lean on to get through to some of their classmates. Like appoint them "team leaders" or whatever.

Either way, no more Ms. Pushover next Wednesday--Miss Helen is gonna lay down the fucking LAW lol I'm going to print out a set of class rules and expectations and have the kids repeat them back to me, and I may invest in a fucking whistle to cut through how loud they can get. If any of y'all have a background in teaching or otherwise dealing with large groups of children, feel free to drop any tips or suggestions you might have to get a handle on a rowdy crowd of munchkins and gremlins without yelling or being overly strict.

besides talking about disabled ppl in a way that made us sound like aliens, that report from work also treated building accessibility as an afterthought. which makes sense bc it is more expensive than telling your already overworked librarians to put together a new program. but i cannot emphasize enough how the number one thing my branch could do to instantly become more accessible is make the elevator move at a normal pace.
