As an old lady I gotta stop getting into Shonen anime/manga. Obvi the young boys have to beat the big bad. Obvi they need a more powerful mentor to help them at the beginning. Also obvi the mentor needs to somehow not be there to fight the big bad so the boy can fight and win and the easiest thing to do is kill him off. But now I'm old and in love with the mentors. So that means I lose my favs. Not cool.

Whatever kiryu does to you might not always be the best or even safest option but he will always do it with a lot of love in his eyes so you have to forgive him
#Yakuza loveblog#i was looking through my notes at three am and i wrote something that i reread in the morning like w ..#where did this come from .... whys he doing that ... why is piss involved again .. <- already knows the answer#i really do believe that kiryu puts the things he likes in his mouth though#hes mostly grown out of it but if you catch him at an unexpected moment or if hes overwhelmed then its going inside his mouth#even the. cylinder attached to a larger structure is going into his mouth and if he cant swallow it then he’ll just leave it in his mouth#i think that kiryu should be allowed to be a little gross especially after disgusting sex. like i believe that majima likes being clean and#having long showers at the end of the day (typical girl behaviour) but kiryu will sleep in his own mess#cant stop thinking of him swallowing harukas one hundred dollar marble because he was so touched that she gave it to him#and she starts bawling and hes like. im sorry haruka. and shes like no its okay ojisan i can tell you really liked it#i bet he says sorry to haruka all the time because kiryu is constantly fucking up but she loves him so much its okay#i actually started crying when i opened the special bundle and harukas marble was in there because like she give me .... her marble .... god#shes such a special little angel and she gave me her cute little ... marble#i think haruka should inherit more than kiryus old man music taste she should watch him do things that she has unconsciously masked all the#while and then start exhibiting behaviours around him. haruka gets overstimulated and goes outside to chop wood like kiryu does#she goes to sing karaoke when she gets stressed because shes thinking about when he told her it relieves stress ...#im fucked up that they removed the kiryu sleeping on her teeny little lap scene in yk2 like he was so fuckinf sleepy and she was like here#sleep here ojisan and he was like thank you haruka ... and snoozed ............ shes his little freaking baby#i took her. to the orphanage and then i freaked it#i cant stop thinking of markiplier playing endoparasitic where he said hah you missed me. now you must kiss me ! when the thing lunged athik#like yeah i did miss you and i do want to kiss you .. wow so true#i think haruka should give kiryu kisses on the cheek like all little girls do to their dad#he fucking holds her like a baby (about to cry) oh my god their bond shes ... so little ....#when kiryu saw pochitaro again he was like hi pochitaro youve grown bigger. and pochitaro was like yip yip tail wag ! like no he didnt.#that dog is exactly as small as when you last saw it. it is the size of your foot#not haruka though she truly got bigger and she doesnt even hold his hand in y6 anymore like fuck my entire life fuck everything fuck fuck fu#or was it y5 like god no ... no ......#time is so fucking relentless your daughter will never be tiny again because shes all grown up#im thinking that haruka should meet kiryu again after hes dead and shes like OJISAN JUMPSCARE ??? and kiryus like no you got the wrong guy#and she wants to keep grilling him but she just sits down and sighs and asks him if she can pretend that hes her uncle kaz for a while ...

Mera, you need to tell us your secret to making such yummy Jade meals every time!! (Be honest, it's love, isn't it?)
Ojisan Jade?? Owning a ramen shop?? Being his cute little wifey?? Single Floyd who is definitely not in love with Jade's pearl??? And of course the yandere elements,,, It was so so so so good!!!
I didn't really read the tags at first, I just got the notification, saw "yan jade x reader" and knew I was in for a treat <3 So when they first spoke about Jade's secret ingredient I jokingly went "it's human meat isn't it?" (sk!Jade brainrot is real) and lo and behold!!! It was love all along, nothing suspicious going on here!!
All this to say I adored Rabu and I am now craving a nice bowl of tonkotsu ramen, made with lots of love of course (つ≧▽≦)つ
(Haven't sent an ask in a while but ojisan Jade got me up immediately hehehe, and I won't get started in the latest chapter of DRU because I'll keep rambling on for hours otherwise but!! it was incredible!!! okaybyeloveyou!!!)
-🦈
🦈 ANON!!!!!!! HIIIII╰(*´︶`*)╯♡ it’s wonderful to see you again!!!!
The secret to every Jade meal is indeed lots of love!!! Definitely nothing else that’s suspicious hehe,,, :) but I’m so happy to know you enjoyed all aspects of RABU!!!!! I love ojiisan Jade. >w< living a quaint life with your husband who may or may not have been living a second life as a serial killer……. ;;;; and of course single Floyb who will continue to flirt (whether playfully or genuinely, who can say~) even when Jade is always kicking him out. T_T
Omg the sk!Jade influence…… I didn’t want to make the hints so overt, but knowing Jade and the forms he’s taken on the blog,,,, it’s too obvious for that hungry eel!!! AAAA but it was only love!!!! No human meat. Not at all. >:) just love. ✨✨
A yummy bowl of tonkotsu ramen made with love by Jade’s gentle hands!!! What could be better than that? \(//∇//)\ don’t think too much about the secret ingredient. He promises it’s nothing dubious.
Thank you so much for reading both RABU and the latest chapter of DRU and enjoying them!!!! Love you always, sweetest 🦈 anon!!!!! 🫶🫶

𝑪𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒆: 𝑺𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒐𝒖 𝑯𝒊𝒕𝒐𝒔𝒉𝒊
word-count: 2.4k
summary: pro-hero psyche moves into your neighborhood, and you bond over your local convenience store <3 (y’all. when i tell you it took me a wholeass season to write this.)
warnings: fluff. just fluff
part ii
Tumblr media
When you stumble into Kondō Convenience on a rainy summer evening, you nearly stop in surprise at the sight of another customer in the hallowed space.
Since you moved off campus last year, it’s been your Friday routine to stop at the convenience store below your apartment and get yourself a treat. The little corner store is usually pretty lonely, save for during the morning rush when practically the whole neighborhood stops in for coffee and a small breakfast.
You can tell the stranger is handsome even from behind — He’s clad simply in flowing black pants tucked into expensive combat boots, and a black shirt tight enough to emphasize the lean muscle he’s built up (though, most of the view is hidden underneath a thick purple scarf and an even brighter purple mop of hair).
"Ah, my favorite student,” your attention is pulled away by Kondō, the uncle that runs the store. He smiles at you kindly when you make eye contact over the counter. “How was your week?”
You smile at the man. “It was good. Thank you, Ojisan.”
“What will you be getting this fine evening?”
“I’m not sure yet. Any suggestions?”
“Well, our new neighbor is already exploring our caffeinated selection.”
New neighbor? You look back at the stranger just in time to see him turn around curiously. You’re immediately stricken by his arresting violet eyes, matching his coiffed mop of hair perfectly. He looks from Kondō to you and gives you a tentative smile. “What can I say? I’m a man who likes options.”
Your mouth twitches up at the tired, deadpan way he jokes. Despite having just met the man, you immediately decide you like him.
“You new around here?” you ask, walking over to join him by the row of fridges.
"Yeah, just moved around the corner. I'm Shinsou," he introduces himself with a small smile and a dip of his head. You give him your name in return.
“Well, welcome to the neighborhood,” you say, and you genuinely mean it. Shinsou smiles again, and you can’t tell if the shiver that runs through you is from that or the chill of the open fridge. You clear your throat and gesture to the different selections of canned coffee. “Any suggestions?” you ask.
“Uh...” Shinsou turns back to the fridge with a thoughtful frown. “I’ve actually never tried any of these brands. But, my friend has said good things about...” He reaches in and retrieves an amber can of cold brew. “This one.”
You smile and pluck the can out of his hand when proffered. “I do like caramel. Thank you, Shinsou.”
“You’re welcome,” he responds, and the slightly raspy quality of his voice as he tacks your name on at the end makes you look back up. His hair has fallen over his forehead and almost into his eyes, giving him a younger look in spite of the signs of stress that exist alongside his smile lines.
You feel a flush starting to creep its way across your neck and turn to walk to the counter before you embarrass yourself. “Well, I live just across the street if you want help learning the area.”
Kondō raises his eyebrows at you as he rings you up, and you give him a look, imploring him to stay quiet. You don’t know what made you say that, but the offer flew out of your mouth before you could stop it. In the year you’ve been coming here, Kondō has never seen you with so much as a friend, let alone even interact with anyone in the store outside himself. So, your immediate interest in the purple-haired stranger could not be more obvious.
Shinsou smiles at you as he joins you at the counter and lays 100 yen on the counter. “I just might take you up that.” He nods once more to Kondō before spinning around towards the door, coffee in hand. “I’ll see you around, neighbor. Ojisan.”
“Stay safe out there, MindJack.”
You frown and turn back to face Kondō just as the small bell above the door jingles to signal Shinsou’s exit. “‘MindJack?’” you prompt.
“That boy’s a hero,” your friend says reverently as he slides your can of coffee back across the counter.
You blink in surprise and look back towards the door, where the bell is still shaking at the top. “Really? What’s his quirk?”
“I’m not sure. But, I’d recognize a hero costume anywhere.”
“Huh. I’ve never seen him before either.” You reach into your jacket for your wallet and ask, “How much for the coffee?”
Kondō shoots you a teasing smile. “Psyche left more than enough to pay for both of you.”
~*~
The rains stop toward the end of May, giving way to the traditional blistering summer heat. You had taken a few summer courses upon yourself in the hopes of graduating sooner...but if you're honest with yourself, you probably should've taken a break. On the way home one evening, you walk past a group of kids shrieking and laughing as they run through a sprinkler park, and can't help but feel your jaw tighten with envy.
“Need another coffee?”
You gasp and spin around toward the sound of the voice, only to see no one. A dry chuckle meets your ears next. “Up here.”
You shade your eyes from the sun and peer upwards—Shinsou’s smirking down at you from where he’s perched on a traffic light, swinging his legs back and forth so you can see the purple undersides of his boots. His hair is glowing in the sun, casting a vibrant halo around his sharp features.
Okay. So you might have a thing for purple hair.
Or maybe it’s just the man attached to it.
The two of you have formed an easy comradery in the past few weeks that is both extremely good for you and extremely not. Instead of harboring a stupid, but ultimately futile crush on a Pro Hero, every interaction you have with Shinsou ends with a distinct air of possibility. A possibility that you absolutely refuse to entertain.
“What are you doing up there?” you ask incredulously.
“Surveilling.” Shinsou takes the last sip of his canned coffee before tossing it perfectly into the trash can below. “Mrs. Agawa’s cat got out again.”
“Ah. So she enlisted our favorite local pro hero?”
“Well, Blue Rider lives a street over. So, I guess that depends on if I’m your favorite.” You drop your hand from your forehead so he can see you roll your eyes spectacularly, regretting it immediately when you accidentally make eye contact with the sun.
You curse and blink furiously to clear the spots from your vision, faintly aware of the shadow of Shinsou's form dropping down from his perch to land in front of you. "Whoa there, you okay?" his deep voice rumbles through you, and you're grateful for his lean form casting a shadow over your face. Through your blurry vision, you see his hands reach for you tentatively before falling back to his sides.
"Yeah, sorry," you reply, but you don't really know what you're apologizing for. You risk a glance at his face, swallowing as he straightens up to his full height. You swear you can feel his body heat he's standing so close, but you cast that thought away quickly, blaming the bead of sweat that rolls down your back on the heat of the day.
You turn away from him to hide your blush and start back off down the street. “You're in second just for that, you cocky bastard.”
You bite your cheek to keep from smiling when after a short pause, you hear Shinsou jogging to catch up with you. He sidles up alongside you, hands shoved in his pockets and a goofy smirk on his face as he walks backward next to you. “How can I be cocky when you don’t even know my quirk?”
“Because you’re cocky despite my not knowing your quirk.”
Shinsou’s mouth turns up at the corners and, after a moment of thought, he spins around so he's now bumping shoulders with you. “Fair point.”
You look at him out of the corner of your eye. He’s smiling to himself slightly as you walk together, eyes scanning the quiet street for a hint toward Mrs. Agawa’s cat. “You’re awfully cheerful today," you observe. "Talkative too.”
Shinsou breathes out a laugh and finally turns his eyes on you. “You might be the only person to ever say that to me.” His eyes soften and drag over you slowly. “Must be something about you.”
Your heart stutters and you find yourself stumbling to a stop, a small smile growing across your face. “Are you flirting with me right now, Shinsou Hitoshi?”
There’s a faint flush decorating his cheeks as Shinsou steps closer to you. “And if I was?”
“And if I were,” you correct, and Shinsou rolls his eyes.
“You’re insufferable.”
“And you’re flirting with me.”
“I am.”
You can’t help how the corners of your mouth turn up in a pleased smile at his admittance. You turn and continue walking before you say anything else, quite liking the fluttery feeling you've been left with. "Alright then."
A comfortable hush settles over the both of you for the next block and you close your eyes briefly, enjoying the sensation of the sun on your back. You inhale the distinct smell of early summer—sun-baked pavement after a night of heavy rain and the sweet aroma of blooming hydrangeas.
“What are you doing?” Shinsou asks.
“Just being.”
“Okay, well, you’re about to walk into a trash can.”
Your eyes fly open just in time. “Shit!” You dodge the offending obstacle and Shinsou laughs, catching you with steady hands when you stumble into him. After you push yourself back to your side of the sidewalk, you make sure to land a solid hit on his arm. “You could’ve said something earlier! Aren’t you supposed to be a hero?”
“You were clearly enjoying ‘just being.’”
“Jerk.”
Shinsou chuckles again and opens the door to Kondō’s, gesturing inside. “Will a coffee make it up to you?”
You cross your arms. “Two will.”
“Deal.”
You jump back with a shriek as a bright flash comes barreling out the convenience store door. Shinsou’s eyes widen and he sprints past you, already halfway through unwrapping his purple scarf.
“Shit! Come here, kitty kitty!”
You cover your mouth to quiet the flurry of giggles that threatens to rise out of you as your friend chases the fleeing orange cat down the street. And if you take out your phone to take a picture…well, that’s no one’s business but yours.
~*~
A hot wave rolls over you when you step out of Kondō’s a week later. The asphalt is steaming in the downpour after a blistering summer day, and you sigh inwardly at the feel of sweat gathering underneath your raincoat. You tug your umbrella low to your head and begin trudging down the block to your apartment building.
You kick up a puddle as you slow to a stop at the sound of a familiar voice calling your name over the pounding of the storm. You turn around to see Shinsou jogging toward you in his full hero regalia. The mask dangling from his chin is starting to gather water and his hair is plastered to his head, making his tired face seem a lot younger.
“Hey, it’s the birthday—oh.” You inhale sharply when Shinsou barrels into you and gathers you into his arms. Despite your surprise, you return his embrace immediately, awkwardly squishing the handle of your umbrella between you two. “What’s wrong, jerk? Are you okay?”
You gasp when Shinsou pulls you even closer, lifting you off your feet slightly. His face is wet where it’s pressed against your neck and he’s shaking slightly…you can’t tell if it’s from whatever he’s feeling or the rain. “Rough day,” his voice rumbles through your chest like thunder, and you find yourself gasping slightly at the feeling.
“I can tell,” you mumble softly. You wrap your arms tighter around him, resting one palm on the cold back of his neck to warm it. “Want to come up and talk about it?”
He pulls back, breath warm where it sighs over your chin, and you find yourself chasing his heat. “Can’t. I gotta get back out there, every hero in the area is on this.”
“Ah.” You lift the umbrella off of where he’d let it rest on his tall head. “So it’s a fucked day.”
Shinsou finds himself chuckling despite himself, despite the things he’s seen and heard and done in the past twelve hours. “Yeah. Today’s fucked.”
“Well, you did say you weren’t a birthday guy,” you tease him with a small smile. Shinsou’s heart sighs at the sight, every inch of him relaxing at the quiet patience you seem to always have for him.
“I did get you a gift, though,” you continue, the hero stepping back slightly as you reach down and pull an amber can of coffee out of your bag. “Seeing you now, it looks like I chose correctly.”
Your friend’s lavender eyes blink once in surprise before his usual smirk is back in place. He plucks the can of coffee out of your hands and fixes his eyes on you. “Thanks, jerk.”
“Any time, hero.” You don’t know what made you say the new nickname, but you’re happy you did when a dusting of pink appears across Shinsou’s cheeks. “Sorry your birthday is fucked,” you whisper.
“Will you go out with me sometime?” Shinsou asks, and suddenly you find your face getting warm enough to match his. He chuckles nervously, warm breath ghosting over you from his proximity to you underneath your umbrella. “Sorry, that was blunt. But, I mean, it’s about time I asked, huh?”
“I…” You lick your lips. “I guess it is.”
Shinsou grins and shifts his feet, his downcast mood from earlier nowhere to be seen. “Tomorrow?”
“Yeah.”
“Cool. I’ll pick you up.” Shinsou smirks once more before ducking his head and escaping the safety of your umbrella, back into the summer storm and whatever he’d been dealing with before. “Good night.”
He spills out the water that had gathered in the bottom of his mask before fixing it across his chin. This is your first time seeing the device up close, and you realize it's much more intricate than you thought. After a wink in your direction, Shinsou disappears back into the shadows and you stumble backward slightly as if the short conversation gave you whiplash.
“See you tomorrow, hero.”

Chiaki's first photobook will be released on his 30th Birthday!! 🎉😭 (4/6)
Congrats!!!!!! I was so happy seeing that first thing in the morning!! He's also gonna do a signing session!
Look at those stunning photos!!! CHIAKI I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!
There was also a video and it made me choke. Because -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CHIAKI'S FOREHEAD!! HISASHIBURI!!! I'VE MISSED YOU!!
AND, the best thing was Seii-chan retweeting Chiaki's tweet and talking with Chiaki on a thread during the whole day -
Tumblr media
Basically he was the first one to congratulate Chiaki, as "an old man (ojisan) with his arms folded behind his back", and asked: "sign (autograph) please". Chiaki replied quite coldly "thank you! There will be signed books and autograph sessions so be sure to check them out!" (I saw a few comments laughing about that, how he's always cold towards his loving senpai. You might also remember those photos of them where he's never done the heart gesture with Seii-chan and left him hanging lol). Then Seii-chan replied something like "Should I line up then..." and Chiaki replied "It's a joke, I'll keep writing!" AND SEII-CHAN REPLIED 😘.
AND SEII-CHAN REPLIED 😘. (yes, I said that twice).
THANK YOU SEII-CHAN! THANK YOU! YOU MADE MY DAY. Seriously, I kept checking Twitter the whole day and when he replied with that emoji I had to pause, go for a break at work, and scream internally into the void while shedding a few tears. I couldn't handle this. I kept recalling this and circulating this in my head the whole day. Seii-chan, I freaking love you. Thankyouverymuch.
Uemura Yuuto also commented on Chiaki's tweet:
Tumblr media
He said "I don't understand it at all, but I want to be a substitute for a horse!" LOL!!!! To which Chiaki replied "Seriously, why?!" and Yuuto replie "Maybe Chiaki-kun is such a prince that my horse blood got excited." XDDDD
That was HILARIOUS! He doesn't want to be Chiaki, he wants to be the horse Chiaki is riding! XDD (honestly, I felt that)
P.S I totally agree with that fan on Twitter. 100% agree:
Tumblr media
I hope Chiaki would give Seii-chan a copy of his photobook as a gift for a doting senpai, but on the other hand I REALLY wish Seii-chan would actually go to the signing session and be there with Chiaki (and also get a signed photobook on the way) ;D. GIVE US A SELFIE ALREADY I'VE BEEN BEGGING FOR YEARS!!
And NO, I did NOT forget my genius idea for a moment! I STILL hope and pray for a magazine cover/photoshoot of the both of them one day! (WHERE is the TWST anime??). And what gives me a glimpse of hope is the official TVguidePERSON Twitter account retweeting Seii-chan's retweet and also Chiaki's reply to him. Those are the crumbiest crumbs, but I'll take it.
To summarize - today was a good day. A great day!
Chiaki, I love you more than you'll ever know and I wish you'll continue to prosper and be successful in every way! <3333

**EDITED TO ADD: Updates below on the subtitles that I’ve seen, thanks to the BLESSED @mmastertheone!
Gosh dang it: I thought this post was gonna be way more exciting because I wanted to shower you all in Old Fashion Cupcake epilogue screenshots, but ALAS, the security on Japanese DVDs seems to be so good that all of my screenshots came out blank, crying emojis. As you can see from my previous post, it looks like Twitter (THANK YOU, TWITTER CUPCAKES!) are working on ripping and subbing the epilogue. So this is just my verbal takeaway, wah, along with some shots of the free goodies from the DVD at the end of this post. Somewhat long post ahead, with me giving spoilers to the canon manga!
CANON AND DRAMA EPILOGUE SPOILERS AHEAD, READ AT YOUR PERIL...
I want to say first that I’m not sure how Kato Aya, the OFC director, has set up the chronology in the drama, and if the chronology is the same as the canon manga. The scene that we’re watching in this epilogue -- Togawa strolling shirtless into the kitchen while Nozue is making apple pie -- technically happens two months after the street confession in the canon manga. I don’t know, because the DVD is not subbed, whether this is explained.
So in the canon manga, after the first volume ends with the gorgeous street scene of Nozue and Togawa confessing, Sagan Sagan wrote a couple of “extra” chapters, before the proper second volume. The *second* extra is of them at it, full stop. The *first* one is the preamble to their consummation, the explanation of what’s been happening since they first started dating after Nozue’s confession.
Essentially: Nozue is very afraid and skittish of intimacy with Togawa. He sees intimacy as a means of creating a family together -- and he’s concerned that by giving into the intimacy that Togawa desires, that Togawa will be disappointed that Nozue can’t give Togawa a family after they’ve consummated. It’s an incredible meditation, actually, and Sagan Sagan is truly a brilliant writer for getting into the tangle of what intimacy means to Nozue vis à vis having a family, and giving a family to a partner, which arguably would have been his framework of living his life with a potential female partner had his life gone that direction (but, as we remember from the start of the drama -- Nozue had no such intention to complicate his life with such matters).
Togawa, on the other hand, is an absolute hornball, which makes Nozue VERY nervous. Togawa thinks Nozue is cute, and wants to do him. After two months of dating, they have only had one moment of oral copulation, which is no good for Togawa, no good.
So prior to the apple pie scene in the kitchen, the guys are having a long conversation about the nature of what their intimacy could mean. I’ve written about this before in my conversation with @absolutebl on identity politics, but part of this conversation includes Nozue griping to Togawa that his love for Togawa is pushing Nozue to say things that an “old geezer” (I’m guessing Nozue is saying “ojisan”) wouldn’t otherwise say, including the meditation on intimacy and creating family. (Just have to throw in that I just found this whole part of the manga so moving as a parent, because I never saw intimacy ONLY as a means of having family, so getting into Nozue’s mind on this is so revealing.)
And Togawa says, listen, intimacy IS the way that I want to love you and get to know you, not by having a family. We will love each other more, I WILL LOVE YOU MORE, if we can be intimate. So put your past experiences behind you, Nozue.
And then, they do it, but that first time is not depicted.
So THEN, the next morning, is the apple pie scene, where I think we have our epilogue? But again, I’m not sure if Kato Aya actually intended HER epilogue to be right after the street confession scene, or with the two-month time jump that the canon manga has.
OKAY, SO THE DRAMA EPILOGUE!
It’s only three minutes long, damn it! I really thought it would be longer. Togawa strolls in, shirtless and sleepy and foxy, and asks Nozue what he’s cooking (which I am GLEANING from the manga, your devoted Cupcake MILF here really needs to learn Japanese). Nozue’s making apple pie, obvi.
We really need this whole scene translated, because in the canon manga in this scene, Nozue says something really lovely -- with this gesture of the apple pie, Nozue says to Togawa that Nozue has decided that the way he’ll be stable and contributing to this relationship is by being the home cook for the two of them, which clearly moves Togawa. But Nozue then says, this is my first time making this -- and Togawa, as we know from the Twitter preview last month, takes that to mean about their night prior, and says “daijobu desu,” it’s okay, it was your first time. Nozue, in the manga, picks up on the joke and yells “I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE APPLE PIE,” so I hope that got in there in the drama epilogue. In the canon manga at this point, Nozue tells Togawa to zip it, which does happen in the drama epilogue.
The epilogue then jumps to Nozue hearing the doorbell ring, and advises Togawa to put something on, jebus, because Nozue’s ordered a futon for Togawa to sleep more comfortably in Nozue’s house. Togawa is silently moved again, and brings the futon in.
Togawa comes back to the kitchen and is standing silently, which is where our most recent subbed preview starts. As Nozue is asking questions about the apple pie, Togawa is cutely brooding and notes that Nozue had told him to previously zip it. When Nozue asks him to say something, anything, Togawa says “please marry me,” and the chapter ends.
I really hope that we can get a full subbed epilogue, because there was SO SO MUCH in the original manga extra of that scene. The second volume of OFC actually refers back to Togawa’s proposal, and goes even further with their commitments to each other -- it’s just truly lovingly beautiful material.
But also, Togawa in the manga is a communication master -- I mean, he’s a total hardcore hornball and is good at getting what he wants, but he’s really compassionate for Nozue and what Nozue is going through with his intimacy aversion. And Takeda Kouhei as Nozue, I think, captures that skittishness really beautifully with his gentle bluntness back to Togawa.
Gah, friends, I really wish y’all could see the whole thing. I’ll keep checking on Twitter for a full subbed scene. It would be amazing even for Viki to come through. Tagging @absolutebl, @respectthepetty, @freakyfreakz, @emile1blue, @floofz, @gillianthecat, @squeakygeeky, and the ever lovely @the-nihongo-adventure -- hope I didn’t miss any other Cupcake darlings!
FINALLY: CUTE SHOTS! ENJOY! SORRY FOR THE CRAP QUALITY! I NEED A SCANNER!
(OH! P.S. Go see Takeda Kouhei in other things! I’ve written a good bit about Kimura Tatsunari’s acting, and I have Sotsugyo Time Limit on my list of things of his to watch, but I’m watching Banshaku no Ryuugi right now, a show about a gal who loves her nightly drinks, and Takeda’s in it, and he’s soooooo adorbs as a lovesick co-worker. He’s great!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
***EDITING TO ADD: Thanks to the INCREDIBLE @mmastertheone, we have access (temporarily!) to a subbed version of the epilogue. Everything hews pretty close to what I’ve written above, just definitely not as in depth as the manga, and no explanation of the chronology issue of whether or not there’s a time jump. In this instance, it is a very cute moment in time where Togawa ribs Nozue on his lack of experience. These guys! They are just LOVELY together.
Just to let y’all know, Sagan Sagan-sensei is technically writing the third volume live through the ihr hertZ manga magazine in Japan. However, it seems like she’s taken a bit of a break -- maybe to let the heat of the drama die down, I’m not sure. So for all of us pining for a season two, there is DEFINITELY new material to parse -- and volume two itself is just incredible for the depth that Sagan Sagan takes into their relationship. My head would spin if Takeda and Kimura took that material on. Kato Aya on Twitter has certainly been excited by all the attention to the series, so.... who knows!

hi! random question but i started watching Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi bc of your gifs and its so fun!! do you know of other anime that have a similar vibe? thanks for the beautiful gifs!
Hi, anon! Nicee!! You've watched Tonsuki!! It really makes me happy when people watch a series because of my edits. And I am very excited and looking forward to the second season!! \( ̄▽ ̄)/
As for similar anime, you can check these series under the cut.
Buddy Daddies - there's this same vibe because of Sui (not to mention, both Sui and the kid in this series had the same seiyuu). i even made a post showing parallels for these two series (you can check my post here if you haven't seen it). like they're both families but not you're typical family.
Dungeon Meshi - both series also feature cooking of monsters, not really in a super gourmet way, but in a way that would still make you want to eat. I also read a bit ahead of the mange for both series so just a fair bit of warning that DunMeshi will be more complicated as the story progresses while Tonsuki maintains its pace.
Amaama to Inazuma - this is a story about a single father whose wife passed away leaving him and her only daughter behind. the father is a teacher and one of his students owns a restaurant. the student, who's struggling with cooking, made an offer that they all cook together so both of them can make delicious meals. there's a bit of angst since it's not been long after the teacher's wife passed away but it's also a very healing series to watch.
Himesama "Goumon" no Jikan desu - a unique series where the princess was held captive and subjected to "torture" but in a different way. this also heals the soul and features foodie from time to time.
Rokuhou-dou Yotsuiro Biyori - a bunch of ikemen cooking!! lol. anyways, the owner inherited the restaurant from his grandfather. every character has their own specialty and also features stories of the people eating at their cafe.
Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu - another isekai that I also like. the MC is OP but he rarely has to show what he can do because the other characters are powerful enough to get the job done. just like Mukouda, the MC here was trying to be a merchant instead of an adventurer.
Isekai Ojisan - this is the story of an uncle who got isekaid but was able to to return back to his own world after 17 years (he was in a state of coma). so what's the highlight now? since he was gone for a while, he missed a lot of what transpired for the past years and it's his nephew's task to keep him up to date. he likes playing video games when he was young. there are too many retro games mentioned here and i couldn't even relate since i don't play but i still had fun watching this.
Isekai de Mofumofu Nadenade suru Tame ni Ganbattemasu - another isekai full of fluff. of course, there's a conflict that the MC is trying to resolve despite her young age but it's 90% pure fluff.
Once again, thank you for letting me know about Tonsuki! I hope this list somehow helps. ^^

@wayward-sword : Zech will get her an ice cream. Because the other options sound dangerously unsafe.
Blinks blinks.
Tumblr media
"You're giving Kula ice cream!?" yes, she already took the ice cream out of this stranger. So much for seirah's warnings to not talk things from strangers. maxima might have a heart attack, too.
Ah, right. Seirah said to say thank you. SHE REMEBRED THAT!? "Thank you, Ojisan~" and a little bow. wow. hey, at least, she is being polite for a change.

fic writer interview @nevermindirah tagged me! Thank you, Happy New Year :3
I'm tagging @thana-topsy @baratrongirl @amazinmango @raindrop-rouge, but only if you want to, no obligation.
How many works do you have on AO3?
83.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
1,369,970
There you go, substantially more than a million words, for the sheer love of it.
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Fuck: My Life Nearly 190k of eruriren porn star AU. Of course it's my top fic.
These Weren't Memories ereri canonverse, written after the first season. It's old, and I don't like all of it, but it's a classic of the ship as I tried to make it work as close to canon as I could.
Neither Tarnished Nor Afraid ereri, and the first true AU I ever wrote. It's a weird police procedural, and I think it's up there just because it's old and has had more time to accumulate kudos to be honest.
The Beneficent Gentleman Finally a non-snk fic. Kingsman, hartwin, and my only epistolary story, loosely based on the novel Daddy Long-Legs, and I'm quite proud of how it turned out.
Flight (When None Pursueth) And we're back to ereri; it was just the biggest ship I ever sailed. This was my serious take on a reincaration AU, and it was not fluffy.
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Usually I do now, but back in the heyday of the SNK fandom I rarely did, cause there were just a lot of them. I responded to long ones or ones that asked a question. I also think the culture has changed on it too; ten years ago it was much less expected for authors to respond to generic 'i liked it!' comments, but as comments have dried up overall, it's become more common.
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
If There is a Cure Skyrim fic. Delphine/Dragonborn, and there is no happy ending.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
95% of all my other fics tbh.
7. Do you write crossovers?
I don't enjoy crossovers. I wrote one tiny Ojisan to Neko/Persona 5 fic that probably would have been funnier as fanart, but I can't draw.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Ooh yeah, back in the day on ff.net in the early 2000's I had a guy get all caps on me cause I paired the PC of a game with an older woman, and a few others that were clearly designed to sap my confidence, presumably because I was writing the wrong ship.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes. Consensual.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I'm aware.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yeah a few times. Very flattering. I even had a translator pass on translated comments once.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes but it's rare. Honestly I've only ever met one person with whom I really clicked as a collaborator. That was a long time ago, and we do very different things now. It's fucking magic if you can find the right person though.
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Ereri is not my current interest, but it really was something special. I sometimes wonder if I'll ever write like it's 2014 again...
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I don't have one. The only fic I never finished I abandoned completely.
15. What are your writing strengths?
Description; I can do a lot with few details.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Sloppy editing, repetitive phrasing, (a symptom of the former) and the pacing on long serialised fics can get very baggy.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Keep it to a minimum. If you don't need it, don't use it. It's more trouble than it's worth (I'm wearing my reader's hat for this one; my eye will just skip over it.)
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Morrowind.
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
There isn't one. I've missed fandom a lot over the past few years, and if I'd wanted to write something I would have.
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
My Old Friend. It's barely a fic, really. A man goes back to his hometown to bury his abusive uncle and reconnects with the father of his childhood friend, on whom he had a powerful but obviously unrequited crush on as a teenager. I had to string together a bunch of unrelated prompts as part of an event, and it just turned out really well. I'm proud of it.

I can't lie every time Kiryu's insisted he's not Haruto's granddad in y6 I've secretly been laughing to myself because the notion that for all Kiryu's love of fatherhood he's still just a 48 year old man and the concept of being a grandpa disturbs him because like, he's YOUNG and VIVACIOUS- Not a grandpa. Like Maybe a cool uncle, but grandpa's going a bit far.... but just now I watched a clip of Ishin in which he's trying to get Haruka to refer to him a bit less formally and he's like well I GUESS you could call me ojisan... and she's like YES that feels so natural! and he's like UM?? I've always looked older than my age but I am NOT uncle old, THANK YOU- you can still call me that though and yeah now I genuinely believe Kiryu's just having somewhat of a midlife crisis and isn't emotionally prepared to be Grandpa.

@sageson being the cutest moon bean *gives itachi ojisan a big hug*
ㅤThe gesture is as unexpected as it is welcome; the kind of surprise that can sweeten any day. Promptly, Itachi's own arms wrap around the boy's shorter frame and he offers back a gentle squeeze, keeping the two of them in that comfort for a few seconds longer.
ㅤ«Thank you, that was very snuggly.» Finally pulling away, if only a little, he smiles and carefully feels with a hand around Mitsuki's face, till settling on his cheek while leaning down to plant a little kiss on the top of his head. «How have you been?»

may i ask you what u mean when you say that kodo emotionally isolated Chizuru? do you mean by not telling her of her true nature or something else? love your souji route commentary btw!!❤️
Hello anon,
I am glad your like my commentaries on Souji's route. I like making them too so at least two of us are having a nice time with them.
It is true that I must have said 3 or 4 times now that for me Kodo emotionally isolated Chizuru while raising her, without ever explaining what exactly I was referring to. So thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk about this.
(However, please be aware that I haven't play the game in its entirety yet and I am playing Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi which is a ten-years-old game and far from the newest iteration that might explore the subject a bit more. So this is informed by the anime, the movies and the part of the game I have played as of today. Plus by some of the discussions I have seen in the fandom.)
Also, I am so very sorry for the long post.
When I say Kodo emotionally isolated Chizuru am I referring to him lying to her about who she is or to something else? The answer is both, or rather I think the lying and other things were tools he used to isolate her (emotionally and also physically to an extent) in order to control her easily.
First the lying. Kodo lied to Chizuru, and he lied to her constantly including on things that cannot be reframed as a safety issue for her. Let's list the extent of his lies:
Not telling Chizuru she is an oni: This could potentially be reframed as a way to protect her from a world that would hunt her down. However, Chizuru still knows she is not like other people because of her healing. She has to hide it from ´outside’ people. This means Kodo only gave her half of the truth so she can't have a full picture of herself while also being convinced the only person she can trust entirely is him.
Not telling Chizuru she is not his biological daughter: Kodo is not Chizuru's biological dad. Biologically I am not even sure who Kodo is supposed to be for her. He is part of the Yukimura clan but he is not a pure blood oni. This means that the closest he could be to her is her uncle as the half-brother of one her parents. In the movies Kaoru calls him "Kodo-ojisan" (meaning uncle Kodo) but in Japanese as a younger person you can call middle-aged man ojisan as a mark of respect that is less formal than san (Mister/Sir). The official French subtitles translate this as "M'sieur Kodo", an informal version of Mister Kodo. In the game I am pretty sure Kaoru only calls him "Kodo-san". Which would mean that Kodo is not extremely closely related to the Yukimura twins (personally in my fic I made him the (half-)uncle of their mother who was born only a few years before her so they were raised as siblings more than uncle-niece, which meant that while Kodo is Chizuru's great-uncle he actually served as an uncle figure, I love family drama and complicated family tree). What does any of this matter? Well this lie does not serve any safety or cultural properness purpose. Adoption was extremely common in Japan at the time. Kondo Isami was adopted, Inoue (Okita) Rintaro (Okita Souji's brother-in-law) was adopted by the Okita family, Ito Kashitaro was adopted, Iemochi the Shogun at the beginning of the Hakuouki game was adopted, twice!, apparently Okita Mitsu was adopted by the Kondo family too so she could marry Inoue (now Okita) Rintaro... It would not have been shocking for Kodo to present himself as Chizuru adoptive father. What he actually is, btw. Yet he preferred to lie to her and say that he is her father, period.
Not telling her she ever had a sibling: as a follow-up to lying to her about being her bio dad, Kodo never mentioned to Chizuru that she had a brother. Reminder that Chizuru was 7 when her village was destroyed which meant she could have memories of her previous life (I can't remember if this is a popular headcanon or something backed by canon but it was Kodo who altered her memory right?). Hypothetically Kodo could have told her she had a brother (without mentioning the twin thing considering the negative superstitions surrounding them) adding that he died/disappeared. This could have match with snippets of memory she might have. It might also have salvaged Kaoru and Chizuru's relationship if they ever met again (something I believe Kodo was planning) because I personally thing that what definitely broke Kaoru was his sister not recognizing nor remembering him at all.
All of this accumulate to create a picture of "it was always just me and my dad and no one else" (why would she ever think she might need anyone else?) and "my father is the only person I can really trust". This is plain bad for Chizuru's development as a person and an absolute lie.
To this, one must add other ways Kodo used to make Chizuru dependent on him alone:
While Chizuru is well-educated and has attended a dojo for a short while, she has no (let alone close) friend. She never mentioned anyone back in Edo. I know some of this come from otome protagonists being some sort of a blank page so you can project on them but if we compare her to Hoshino Ichika for exemple (from Collar x Malice), Ichika does have friends and relations outside of the main cast that date back before the plot kicks in. Chizuru does not, besides Kodo.
The inclusion of Iba Hachiro in the new games might mitigate that but from my understanding Kodo did put some distance between the two at some point.
Chizuru had no prospect of her own, no goal with her future life despite being on the brink of adult life. Was the plan for her to live with her father forever?
While Kodo seems to be well-integrated in the medical/scientific community, no one seems to really care about Chizuru. No one seemed to have actually looked for her after she disappeared from the family home and went missing. Chizuru was 16 when she left Edo! She must have more or less run her father's household (which must have make her interact with people), maybe she helped him in the clinic and her father must have been a known figure in the neighborhood at least (as a doctor)... I understand that were more than troubled times but no one cared about the missing 16 years old girl they must have interacted with regularly? Really?
As a result we see a Chizuru that is an extremely strong-willed (she travelled alone from Edo to Kyoto by foot at sixteen years old disguising her gender in the middle of a deeply trouble political time! That takes guts!) and rather intelligent girl, yet she is also quite timid and does not seem to have a point of reference on how people should treat her.
The Shinsengumi kidnaps her and holds her captive for months for being at the wrong place at the wrong time and she is not deeply resentful to them? She thinks they are "nice men" deep down?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It takes her being physically put in danger in the place she is forced to live in to go:
Tumblr media
???
She has no basis for what a sane relationship with someone should look like. She take being controlled as normal. Ironically, it is with the political militia who kidnapped her that she starts learning how to interact relatively normally with people. Because for what I think is the first time in her life since Kodo adopted her, she is allowed to interact with a multitude of people who have different opinion and act as if disagreeing with each other from time to time is normal (which it is). Hijikata gave the order for her to stay in her room? Well it is stupid order and we are not following it. Etc etc.
My thoughts about Kodo's behavior is that he raised Chizuru so she would be able to nominally be the head of Yukimura clan and his future oni/rasetsu kingdom (giving her Shotsuren, making sure she is passable with it, making sure she is educated, etc.) while making sure she could never really escape his clutches and would never even think about trying to do so.

Detective Conan Rewatch: Episode 1107
Episode 1107: "I Was Set Up!”
Before watching this episode, on a scale of 1-10, how much are you looking forward to seeing it again?
Let's go with a 5!
Favorite screencap:
Tumblr media
Conan: "Of course Kogoro-ojisan is the type to save his Christmas shopping for last minute..."
Kogoro: "Excuuuuse me! I enjoy the thrill of the hunt!"
Favorite Moment:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The suddenness of after Kogoro's logical deduction of the events as intended by the culprit, to where the culprit had been thanking Kogoro for finding him innocent only for Conan to immediately reverse that is hilarious to me.
Least Favorite Moment:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh jeez, that sucks. D:
What’s one thing you noticed/realized about this episode that you hadn’t before?
Nothing this time!
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate this episode?
As someone on Crunchyroll pointed out, it was very predictable, but still well executed in my opinion. 6!
Celebrate it!
Here’s a (not exactly) summary haiku:
Kogoro's client
Lead suspect in a murder
Was this a set up?
Next Episode: Episode 1108
Previous Episode: Episode 1105-1106
