terranigma, a cool game
#terranigma#terranigma ark#terranigma elle#terranigma meilin#art tag#im going to write a little review in the tags bear with me#first the negative:#the magic system is weird to use and basically useless apart from one boss thats almost impossible without magic#it has some weird racism like most old games where you travel around the world. a little more egregious since its supposed to be real earth#i found the main character to be slightly insufferable for about 3/4ths of the game. i came around on him by the end tho. he grows up a lot#and i found whats by far the largest section of the game (chapter 3) to be the least interesting#im not really into helping cities develop and trade quests tho so it might just be me#oh also it is STUPID easy to permanently lock yourself out of like 15 sidequests#and theres a lot of mandatory things that are really hard to figure out. you need to use a walkthrough for this#anyway thats what i didnt like#what i DID like tho. i dont want to get into too much detail but#its a genuinely beautiful game for so much of it#there were so many moments that left me speechless#its high-concept and thoughtful and fun to play#you dont really need to do much grinding either#at its worst its obtuse and cliche but at its best its breathtaking#and i really recommend more people check it out#special shoutout to my friend seona who modded my 3DS and downloaded a bunch of roms including this one#so in conclusion. terranigma is an underrated gem. play it if youre a 90s jrpg junkie like me#just have a walkthrough open also lol

Updated information on the Soul Trilogy and its connections with other games from the same universe.
Tumblr media
⚠️This little information may contain spoilers.
The Quintet Trilogy.
There are a few connections between Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma:
Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma deal with world regeneration and all three games deal with the concept of reincarnation.
Blazer and Will (in form of Shadow) have the technique of launching the spirit of the Firebird/Phoenix and apparently in Terranigma the weapons of the Hero, Ark, are shaped like a phoenix, too.
In both the Japanese and PAL versions the Soul Armor of Soul Blazer, appears in Terranigma.
In Illusion of Gaia, Will uses his powers to attract "Gems" like Blazer.
In Watermia, from Illusion of Gaia, Kara says: "Freejia was the same way, but beautiful. Things always have another side to them" in Japanese version: "As was the case with the City of Flowers, I wonder if beautiful things always have a back face." In Terranigma, when Ark reaches the sewers of Neotokio, has a similar line: "The more fancy a town, the more dirty at the back". In Japanese: "The more glittering the city is the more messy it is to look behind the scenes."
In Angkor Wat temple, which appears in Illusion of Gaia, there is a room containing crystals that strongly resemble those in the Shrine of the Master from Soul Blazer.
In Neotokio, the most advanced city in the world, Ark fights a ghost hidden in a garbage can, there by reviving the Quintet programmers, including a chicken, who are creating the game Illusion of Time 2 that is Terranigma. In the Japanese version the game, he is developing 天地創造 (Tenchi Sōzō), they were literally making Terranigma. Also, in that version, you could answer a questionnaire (Quintet Quiz) if you were an expert in the games of the company, among them Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia.
Some characters and locations seem to appear in more than one game with different names:
All three games feature a dog named Turbo: in Soul Blazer, he appears in Greenwood; in Illusion of Gaia, he's at the Diamond Coast; in Terranigma, he's Meilin's dog.
In Illusion of Gaia, "The Moon tribe" people, are in the form of a Soul Blazer enemy: Ghost.
The enemies of Illusion of Gaia, Dinapedes and Nitropedes are similar to Metapedes of Dr. Leo's Lab in Soul Blazer.
Both Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma deal with Dark and Light Gaia.
In Illusion of Gaia the secret boss is Metal Mantis, who was the first boss of Soul Blazer.
Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, and Terranigma share a painter in their story.
The "Tulip" that appears in Illusion of Gaia in the of Edward's Castle Prison, is the same as those that appear in Soul Blazer.
Terranigma has Capetown in South Africa (though it can't be visited) and Illusion of Gaia begins in South Cape.
Mu exists in Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma.
In Soul Blazer there is a place called St. Elle's Seabed, which is "Palace of St. Ells" (セントエルズの宮殿) in Japanese. Elle (エル) of Terranigma has a similar name, both in English and in Japanese.
In Terranigma, before entering Great Lakes Cavern, Ark speaks with a man named Servas, who is awaiting the return of his fiancée, Nana. When she died, she became a mermaid, which is a reference to a mermaid's dolphin in Soul Blazer, Servas, who is the reincarnation of a child who died with his father in the a shipwreck and also is mentioned on Illusion of Gaia in Larai Cliff.
Some characters and places are equivalent to the same ones from Soul Blazer:
Guardian of the Forest = Ra Tree (Terranigma)
King Magridd = King Henri (Terranigma)
Queen Magridd = Bloody Mary (Terranigma)
Magridd Castle = Sylvain Castle (Terranigma)
*Dr. Leo = Beruga (Terranigma). In Soul Blazer, Dr. Leo says, "I am not passing away, rather, I am going to sleep. When a scientist with my knowledge is needed, I will be back." In Terranigma, Beruga was alive in the ancient world before it was revived by Ark.

Connection of the Quintet classic games between Quintet Trilogy
ActRaiser and ActRaiser 2: For being the beginning of the Quintet Trilogy and their complementary games (Robotrek and The Granstream Saga), there are different references in these:
In Soul Blazer, The Master (a non-playable character this time) is represented as a serious, kind, understandable, positive, and pious deity. He forgave King Magridd and never gave up hope that Blazer would triumph against Deatholl.
In ActRaiser 2 The Master has the power to turn into the spirit of the of Firebird/Phoenix for a few moments to attack the enemy.
There is a child named Teddy in Soul Blazer, and he tries to sell the Goat's Food to Blazer. He is a reference to the boy of the same name from ActRaiser.
In the Japanese version of the ActRaier 2, "Tower of Souls" is the "Tower of Babel" (バベルの塔戦]), which appears in Illusion of Gaia.
In Angel Village, appear enemies similar to Ramskulls which are from ActRaiser.
The outside of Angkor Wat temple is very similar to ActRaiser's Marahna temple. Also, in this level, The Master uses the Earthquake and in Illusion of Gaia, Will (in Freedan's form) get the "Earthquaker."
On Illusion of Gaia, the boss on the Great Wall of China is very similar to the boss of the Kasandora's desert boss from ActRaiser.
In Terranigma, you can see two paintings: The Master of ActRaiser 2 painted by Matis and located in Mati's, which is in Loire, and the other in Britain in Sir Rich's mansion. Like some statues of one of three angels that help him in ActRaiser 2, specifically The Warrior Angel in Loire Castle.
ActRaiser and ActRaiser 2 are of the games that appears in the Quintet Quiz of Neotokio in Terranigma in the Japanese version.
In Terranigma the virus created by Beruga, "Asmodeus" is a reference of ActRaiser 2 the boss: Deception, in Japanese version: 欲望|Lust. Deception, apart from his attacks, sludge spit, fireball and bomb; he teleports to escape and uses his "Teleportation orb" to take The Master to another site on the same battlefield. Unlike "Asmodeus", that demon teleports the combatant, but doesn't erase him forever.
Although in interview of Koji Yokota by John Szczepaniak of his book The Untold History of Japanese Game Developers: Volume 1, he revealed that The Master is part of the games Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. It's believed that he is also Light Gaia and Tanzra is Dark Gaia. This is believed because of the opening of Terranigma, (both in the original and the European version) which says, "They came to be called 'God' and 'Devil'."
The damaged sound effect of Blazer is the same of the ActRaiser when The Master is damaged.
The sound effect when defeating an enemy can be heard in ActRaiser, Soul Blazer, and Illusion of Gaia.
Sound effect of the enemies attacks bullet firing can heard in ActRaiser and Soul Blazer.
Robotrek: It's a relatively comical game where we can find again themes; such as is creation and destruction, human ambition, the use of science for good and evil, the theme of immortality that is implicit in Nagisa an assistant android with the resemblance to the deceased mother of the protagonist, problems between neighbors and among others. In addition to having some elements found in the ActRaiser and Quintet Trilogy, Robotrek would be the complement of those games:
The "Blade 4", in the Japanese version is called "SoulBlade" (ソウルブレイド), which could be the replica of the legendary weapon of the hero of Soul Blazer, "Soul Blade", with the technique of launching bullets shaped Firebird/Phoenix.
There are two ways to create "Blade 4", combining "Seed" with "Blade 3". The other way is combining "Smoke" with "Scrap 8", nonetheless the first combination is a hidden reference to the Kingdom of Freil from Soul Blazer, which in Japanese is フレイル王国|Fureiru ōkoku, where フレイmeans Freyr, reference to the name of the Norse god of fertility, which comes from Old Norse name Freyr ("lord"), meaning 'fertile'. Both in form and meaning, fraiwa ("seed").
The form of Tetron (bipyramid) resembles the "Shrine of the Master" from Soul Blazer and the crystals of Angkor Wat from Illusion of Gaia.
Inside the Count Polinky's mansion you can see knight's armors similar to the enemies of Stormrook from ActRaiser 2, but without the axe and shield. However, in this stage you can learn create Axe 1 (Inventor's Friend Lv 9).
In the Clock Tower of Count Polinky's mansion where there is an enmity of some dolls with the mice of the place, this part of the game could be a reference to Soul Blazer in parody form.
On the South Isle, a native scares the main character with a joke similar to that made by the dog from GreenWood's Restaurant in Soul Blazer.
In the Japanese version, the chicken on the farm of Robotrek is called "Catherine" (カトリーヌ), which is mentioned in Terranigma by a boy watching the chicken race, also are the only Quintet Super Nintendo Entertainment System games where chickens appear and the main character can talk to them.
On Robotrek "Rococo Town" (ロココ町) is a reference of the art style that originated in Paris in the late 17th and early 18th century. In Terranigma, Ark buys for 800 Gems: "Rococo Apartment" (ロココアパート).
In the computer of the main character (Hero's house) and that of his father, mentions ActRaiser 2 and Illusion of Gaia (in the Japanese and American version).
With the CyberJack, the player can enter the computer in dad's house and meet the Development staff of Quintet. This secret is present in Actraiser 2 and Terranigma, too.
The outside of Gateau's space fortress is shaped similar to that of the Tower of Babel.
In Rococo Town, The Master is mentioned in one diary where it narrates the preparation of a wedding: "From the bottom of my heart, to the God who brought us together I can't help but get excited." ("ふたりをめぐりあわせてくれた 神様に 心の底から かんしゃせずにはいられない"), doesn't seem to refer to the God (神様) of South Isle. In addition to the fact that the main character of the game learned to create replicas of The Soul Blade. It is possible that people in another part of the universe believe in The Master from ActRaiser and ActRaiser 2, but it has not been confirmed.
Robotrek is one of the games that appears in the Quintet Quiz of Neotokio from Terranigma in the Japanese version.
In the Japanese manual of Robotrek, the story section compare technological advancement of Rococo Town to that of Japan: "The civilization of Rococo Town is a little more advanced than the present Japan."(ロココ町の文明は今の日本 より少しだけ進んでいますが). It's possible can be seen this mention of Japan in Neotokio from Terranigma.
On Terranigma, in one of the houses in Crysta there is a footboard from the one bed a generic cat's face carved in wood that is later seen again in a mini game in Liotto, however the cat face is similar to the official art of Kurogane the cat from Robotrek.
In both the Japanese and American versions, a girl's dog and her grandmother's have the name Turbo (タ ー ボ), a name given to the Turbo that appear in Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma.
In one video "Brute Press" VHS Vol.24 July 1995 (【非売品】ブルートプレス Vol.24 1995年7月号) published Terranigma Beta version. The sound effects can heard is the same of the Robotrek.
The Granstream Saga: It's not certain if the story takes place on Earth or in another planet in a distant future. In American version the story of manual tells us:"One hundred years ago, on the planet of Granstream, a great war devastated the land"; while the Japanese mention "the world" (世界) and "land" (地表) or "above ground (地上): "Going back in time, 100 years ago. The war that divides the world broke out, and humankind was on the verge of extinction. Based on different magical powers as the basis of civilization, the two opposing forces "Magical Empire Army" and "Spirit Alliance Army" do not yield to each other, and finally the empire destroys the enemy's center with forbidden super magic weapons Executed the operation. It shattered the earth's veins and caused cataclysms. The earth's axis tilted greatly and the surface of the earth was completely submerged. And all life and civilization rooted on the earth have perished".
Although in an interview Koji Yokota, identifies Terranigma and The Granstream Saga different from ActRaiser, Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia, these two games from different consoles, presented various themes related to the company's previous games, for these that suggest to be possible sequel of Terranigma. Due to the fact that the connection with the others isn't official, it could be considered as another complement to ActRaiser and Quintet Trilogy:
In the game Eon and Arcia make it a goal to raise the other continents to restore the world.
The level of Stalagmite Castle just like Dr. Leo's Painting of Soul Blazer.
A stone appears named: Star Stone.
Among Eon's weapons we find a sword called: "Arc Blazer" that increases damage to enemies that are weak against ice.And the axe of the Spirit King: "Gaia Edge."
The stained glass window of the church is very similar to the one that appears in Terranigma in Litz's church, but not the colours.
Outside of Airlim, the magic control Tower, it's similar to the form of Tower of Babel.
The background of Curio Shop, you can find a vase with two handle, just like Illusion of Gaia.
Appears the enemy "Mimic", like in Soul Blazer.
Eon use"Dried herb" and "Special herb" to heal like the herbs from Illusion of Gaia.
The original form of the Demon King Demaar (Digol) looks like the final form of Dark Gaia of Terranigma.
In The Granstream Saga, if Eon decides to sacrifice Arcia using her pure soul for defeat demon Demaar. In the end, "Deity" appears, sitting on a throne in the Palace of the Heaven, talking to her. This is possibly The Master from ActRaiser, but it has not been confirmed.

I recently played through Mystic Ark (1995) each night before bed during the last week or so. I initially saw a promotion for the game next to Terranigma (a longtime favorite) in a Famitsu magazine earlier this year, and got mesmerized by its Labyrinth-esque cover artwork in particular. I immediately knew I had to play whatever this was.
So I took the slowburn approach by first going through The 7th Saga and Brain Lord, two previous games by developers Produce. While not remotely essential for this venture, they still gave me some neat context and groundwork for the game's roots. I think they ultimately helped me appreciate this game all the more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Mystic Ark you wake up alone on a desolate eerie island and need to travel to different worlds in search of the titular arks to grow stronger and regain your freedom. These worlds act as self-contained stories with distinct vibes, genres and presentation. It's a delightfully novel idea for a game to take an anthology approach, and I wish more games would attempt this because it's highly effective in keeping up intrigue and wonder. Every time you depart for the next world is a big mystery and you usually need a moment to piece together what each new tale is gonna be about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For example, the first world is a light hearted tale about war and conflict told through two rivalling factions of pirate cats. The game sees you meandering in back-and-forth fetch quests to support both sides' advances towards the same goal, it has a lot of cheeky humor about this and presents itself in a very cute and endearing fashion.
Another story has you enter a mysteriously abandoned world devoid of even monsters, only populated by a few orphaned children who play in a ghost town by day and then go home to a mansion run by a suspicious nun. As you go along with their antics and babysit them out of dangerous situations, the situation only keeps getting stranger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One world in particular locks you inside a horror story without your party members, as you work your way through a labyrinthine haunted house by solving puzzles interspersed by ominous scribbles by a paranoid previous resident. The atmosphere hangs heavy and the suspension has you on needles, it's a lovely showcase of Mystic Ark's core concept that it effectively pulls these twists and turns without ever feeling jarring.
One aspect I enjoyed in particular was the semi-point and click flavour in your interactions with the world. Many points will pull up an extra menu with a nice picture of what you're looking at and various options of how to fiddle and prod at it. Supposedly the 1999 Playstation sequel Mystic Ark: Maboroshi Gekijo leaned even further into this, and I'm not at all surprised. Would love to play it whenever someone decides to translate it or I get good enough at Japanese. Whichever one comes first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mystic Ark is a gorgeous and rich experience that continuously rewards the player for sticking with it. Even though the individual tales all have satisfying conclusion, the game still maintains a lot of mystery by keeping the finer points untold. You rarely get the full picture and that only helps to make you keep wondering. The ending to the game itself is as vague as it begins, and allows for many different interpretations. My take is that the game, through its anthology structure, tells us about the many little worlds we can find all around us, the stories that reside in anything. The worlds are entered by interacting with regular objects like a ship model, a painting or a storybook, and recurringly we must return to the island to gather figurines of lost actors in the stories to progress. I think Mystic Ark emphasises the player's power as a sort of story teller, fiddling with the plots in interesting ways, to build a genuine interest. At the end we are seemingly encouraged to take this depiction of narratives and inspiration to go out into our own world and find our own stories to tell.
It's a mesmerizing all-timer and for sure a new favorite of mine. /Kiki
(Extra note: The game was only released in Japan, so I played a fan translation. There are two of them and after some comparison I went with the one by Dynamic Design because it felt a bit more vibrant and inspired in its word choices. Your preference may differ though and they both seem to be good.)

Found a DQB2 zine preview on Pixiv and they included Ark from Terranigma in it. Even if I could read the description text, it'd be hard over my mind shouting' "KINDRED SPIRIT KINDRED SPIRIT KINDRED SPIRIT KINDRED SPIRIT KINDRED SPIRIT KINDRED SPIRIT KINDRED SPIRIT KINDRED SPIRIT KINDRED SPIRIT"
I wonder if Jeremiah's throwaway line near the end that's like, "some people say the world is a living being and has a light side and dark side" is the same in Japanese

Darkness Reborn ~ Origins of the Ink Demon Final Chapter Pt. 7
Edward : Hey, Al. Can you tell Arakawa about the marriage thing?
*Rumbling*
Edward : Woah! What's with the shakedown? Is it an Earthquake?
Alphonse : I believe it's the vibration!
[Suitable Opponent - Jun Senoue]
Yuffie Kusaragi : Guys! The planet is shaking! It must've been the Ohkuboverse!
Cloud Strife : Mr. Elric! What's going on here!? Where is that Vibration coming from!?
Edward : I don't know! It wasn't part of the earth's crust since it created with a continental drift. Basically, I hardly doubt that this was someone else's problem!
Winry : Guys! This is bad! I just got a call from our author to saying that Ohkubo is a complete moron! The Ohkuboverse that fans call it will destroy Real World AU with the usage of Shattered Resonance, a new mysterious type of technique that has the power to destroy everything!
Edward : Shattered Resonance, what the heck is that? A new mysterious technique that nobody knows it, it has the power to shatter everything!? That's just a supernatural power up, it doesn't really exist, does it?
Cloud Strife : Huh? What's that on the computer screen? [the computer screen shows the footage of Inca's execution]
Riza Hawkeye : Wait, that pink haired girl. She just kinda look like Kimial Diehl, but a young woman dressed as a witch.
[Revival (Space Colony Ark Ver.) - Kenichi Tokoi]
Inca Kasugatani (as seen from footage) : Heed my words, Shinra-Kun. This is the final moment before I disappear. All my insanity has been unleashed and stopped it with a bit of calmness in my heart. So as I was saying to you all of Real World AU. I decided to give you a sweet taste of justice and revenge once all the hearts of the seven lights and 13 darknesses are in their respective place. Once I created a ritual from my dearly blessed heart, it cannot be stopped at once for you to handle the power of hearts and souls that burn bright. So now these are my last words before my execution, these are only my final words. Humans and Witches are not the enemies to their selves, the ones that are the true enemies were these ungrateful heartlesses that took everything away from us! And they'll make us mourn to feel our losses and fill our hearts and souls with despair they given us!
Time Eater (as Homura Akemi) : Now that's only your final words that you have spoken. So is there anymore questions for me to ask? Or is there anything else you like to say for yourself, Mrs Kasugatani?
Inca Kasuagatani (as seen from Footage) : No...I've got nothing else to say from a heartless coward like they're selves, not even Demon Vibe could stand a chance for making me a jerkwad to the people that I will not forget.
Time Eater (as Homura Akemi) : Very well, then....I will now begin the execution of the mother of Witchkind. Say goodbye, Bruja! Beginning aiming position, lock-on target, ready to fire!
Inca Kasuagatani : Sayonara, Shinra-kun.
*Shadow SFX : Gunshot*
[the computer screen goes back to normal as footage ends]
Yuffie Kusaragi : So...I guess that's the end of the footage. Now what?
*Rumbling*
Yuffie Kusaragi : Aw man! It's always that darn vibration that causes the planet to shake. I don't feels it's that Dark Gaia creature is it? Say, wasn't Dark Gaia the name of the Terranigma boss character?
Cloud Strife : Could be!
Yuffie Kusaragi : I knew it! Why does Sega loves to steal things that isn't theirs?
Cid : Hey, Cloud! I just discovered that we found a footage that was created by the Time Eater and there was a witch that was being executed after she went crazy over Shinra's 1000 years of death. I believe her name is--
Riza Hawkeye : Yes. We already know that. It's Inca Kasugatani, a former citizen of Tokyo and creator of the Majo Order from Soul Eater, she's that person that Shinra known about 1000 years ago, and of course in fact, that we found out she is the ancestor of Kimial Diehl, world's greatest majo detective and secretly undercover as a meister. We knew it all along.
Roy Mustang : You knew it, Hawkeye! Kimial Diehl's a relative to that crazy person that started it all!? So that's why Kimial ran away from here in Japan and moved back to United States. No doubt about it saying that Kimial has confirmed to be what? a Japanese as well! I'm going to put a stop to her now or else...
Riza Hawkeye : Yep it is confirmed that the Meisters from Soul Eater have been the descendants to the people of Tokyo this whole time and nobody reported it. Luckily, Truth made them believe that Witchkind had been fooled by one's foolishness, it would be Shinra and his family that are responsible for Soul World's Existence. And not to mention it, we found out that her "Girlfriend" has a costume that traced back to Shinra's Old World along time ago. Check this out. [holds out a Fire Soldier's uniform] This is a uniform that Jacqueline Wore it.
Roy Mustang : Hold the spicy nachos! Jacqueline O'Lantern Dupre was a fire soldier back in Shinra's old world before Soul World existed!? No wonder the reasons that the demon weapons were made from the bones of Shotaro. Now we're finally getting to the bottom of this mystery! Elric, did you really want to find out what the caused creation of the demon weapons, the mabuki that the witches created?
Ling Yao : And the ones the meisters wielded.
Edward Elric : Hold that thought. I learned something Truth. [a flashback shows Truth]
Truth : The ones that are responsible for the Mabuki's creation is a mere human that has the power to use your little science that is Alchemy.
Edward Elric : I remember now! The Demon Weapons creation that the witches thought, it wasn't their magic that gave birth to the Demon Weapons, it was alchemy the whole time!
Mei Chang : What!? So that means, the main cast and Deathscythes of Soul Eater...
Lan Fan : Are really made by Alchemy...
Havoc, Roy, Armstrong : As the Secret Ingredient!?
Alphonse : Now we finally got all the pieces coming together, Shotaro, Eibon, and that Amaterasu blondie used the Alchemy materials of using bones to create the Demon Weapons and bring to them life! That's what the Men of Shinra's Influence had been calling them the Demon Weapons or Death Weapons in the first place!
[G.U.N Mobile - Jun Senoue]
Edward Elric : So that's why Soul Eater has existed in Real World AU in the first place! They were only trying to cheap us with their own lies from Shinra himself!
Alphonse Elric : So much for being a popular manga that does not known of being shonen assholes for you can say, You can really tell me of that for who's responsible for this madness. And with Shinra's influecne, Nevada and Real World AU won't be the same. Oh, Ohkubo! that crazy author of a typical shounen manga! What was his deal of making crazy stories of his anyway!?
Winry : But the prolbem is that the world of Soul Eater bears no resemblance to the style of Tim Burton, the man who made sleepy hollow, the bride, and the nightmare before christmas. That's the inspiration for the creation of Soul World, right?
Mei Chang : Than we have no choice but to contact Smash Bros to get Princess Peach on the line, we gotta inform that the Ohkuboverse is going to destroy Real World AU for life! We can't let that happen!
Lan Fan : So any suggestions of how we say one thing about it and to put my finger into saying this to...Umm...Just to tell me how to--STOP THE MADNESS!!!
Mei Chang : Don't fear! Maybe if Hope was here to see this, there is one person that can bring us hope and stop the Ohkuboverse from ever happening of harming Real World AU! We got some fates in our hands!
Ling Yao : And that's why the truth is here. So, Lan Fan. [pats on the back of the other Lan Fan] Let's give it all your all.....Lan Fan? Hey, Lan Fan. Something the matter? You've been hitting the sauce again, Lan Fan?
Lan Fan : Uhh, Ling?
Ling Yao : What?
Lan Fan : That's not me.
Other Lan Fan (?) : [in a distorted voice] Surprise genius! Looks like you've activated my trap card!
Ling Yao : Say what?!
(Neoshadows appears)
Edward : Holy Crap!
Riza Hawkeye : Damn! [shoots all the Neoshadows] It's heartlesses they're going out of control!
Mei Chang : [attacking the heartlesses] Now where getting to the point of Soul World's messed up self for Nevada!
Ling Yao : How is this even happening!?
Other Land Fan (?) : And now, I should make your heart and soul as my appetite, so true that hearts are a delicacy for all of us heartlesses. [takes out a knife and fork]
Ling Yao : This could get real messed up!
Scar : Hey, heartless F*ckface!
Heartless Lan Fan : [distorted voice] What?! (Scar grabs her face)
[ELECTRIC ZAPPING]
(Heartless screeching)
[POP+SPLAT]
[Violent - Kenichi Tokoi]
Ling Yao : I don't get it, I wonder was that thing?
Lan Fan : Ling Yao, don't you get it? That other me you pat on the back was another heartless, a doppelganger that was created from a person's heart! That thing tried to kill you! We gotta evacuate, now!
Yuffie Kusaragi : You guys, go!
Lan Fan : But what about you?

2017 – I know I want to be a writer. “I need to start writing works rather than just verbalizing my thoughts” – what does that mean? “start sketching out characters, settings, contexts, plots. none of these needs to make sense. this is where we dive in, like Ark in Terranigma... wordvomits transforms here, at 640″
13may2017– obama... i was thrilled to witness obama become potus, seemed like an era of optimism. bush seemed stupid, clinton seemed... idk. obama seemed classy, compassionate, like we were on the cusp of something great. I suppose I wrote this after trump became potus and I wanted to... grieve my naive optimism?
I have ~40 notes about my memoirs, and about Naughty Boy... all of that could be merged into a single doc maybe, or a single project basically. It could be a book of poetry. meaning doesn’t need to be excruciatingly detailed.
gotta re-read all of alt_visa.
2018 note where i’m fragmented emotionally + declaring junkyard bankruptcy
