i really wish that every anti-porn post on this site wasn’t made by some unhinged bioessentialist terf and i DONT want to hear “maybe there’s a reason that all the anti-porn people are terfs” because i’m not thinking about this from a “porn is bad” angle. i would like to have a conversation about how western society effectively has two completely separate versions of sex; how the sex people have is a totally different thing from the sex they watch, and how porn is inherently objectifying (i say this in a neutral, literal sense of the word) because it’s a material you’re consuming, not an interaction. and how i wish we could actually acknowledge these things and talk about the dissonance between porn and interpersonal relationships!!! but every anti-porn post on this godforsaken site is like “men are just naturally born evil but also porn is eroding their brains but also they were like that in the first place” and i want to tear my hair out. can we please talk about the effects of porn (<- NEUTRAL PHRASE) without those fucking freaks showing up. also this post has been edited a bit because terfs keep twisting my words and i’m losing my goddamn patience

just got forced to watch the last harry potter movie for the first time in a while and damn. i really remember it being better, like technically. i knew i wasnt gonna care for the story content and all that baggage but it was just riddled with frankly amateurish mistakes in continuity, pacing, editing, writing. so bad

Harry Potter is bad and honestly, everyone who still enjoys is kinda bad, too, and should feel bad

Like, it's fine if it shaped you when you were younger, or helped you over some bad times and shit. I get it

But that's no reason to cling onto it. You can still appreciate that, still take what it taught you, still be the person it made you, without holding on to it. Without still engaging and without making excuses as to why you still enjoy it

To me, everyone who stills hangs on just tells me that their own entertainment is more important than people's lives and suffering

I'm thinking more seriously about that post that's like I think every girl should get an apartment for free. I took a look at the comments on that post and a couple people were talking about how we underestimate how much freedom having your own place to live gives you. And how that could protect girls from having to live with abusive relatives, or be forced into sex work. Both of which are things that overwhelmingly affect girls and women. So yes the girl part is important. Not to mention that girls and women are paid less, and have more expenses.

I know it's easy to dismiss this kind of post as a delusional dream of a fantasy world, but now that I've given it some thought, I think it wouldn't be too difficult to set this up on a small scale. Give girls in vulnerable situations their own apartments, and guide them to a future where they aren't women being exploited.

There are already drug rehab programs that include providing housing. There are already programs that help homeless families by providing them with homes (sometimes even building them homes).

I like the Barbie movie and I highly recommend everyone go watch it because it has a really good analysis on how the patriarchy harms all of society by placing completely unachievable and outrageously contradictory expectations on femininity and attaching masculinity to an insatiable hunger for material wealth and social status rather than self-fulfillment and community
