Elena Gilbert had stockholm syndrome.

Elena blamed Katherine for Damon's action. Katherine did not handle it, that's all, she does not bear responsibility of someone's actions. It was all Damon's decision and action. No one else's.

This was his reaction when "Elena" (For him she was Elena) found out he kidnapped Jeremy and threatens to kill him.

This is the guy who changed for Elena, who loves her, was there for her and never hurt her. Please, feel my sarcasm.

Elena blamed someone else or herself for actions of an adult man who knows what is wrong and what is good. That's behavior of usually ab-sed woman or someone with stockholm syndrom. I said what I said.
