#tea blend 101
Text
A beginner guide to tea blending 🌿
⚠️This is meant to be a simple guide based on my own research and experience, by all means, educate yourself further and double check everything before proceeding!⚠️
First, define your intention or goal for this blend: what medicinal properties do you want to extract from these plants? You should know the medicinal value and effects of each plant separately before trying them out together and finding out how they interact with each other. Similarly, taste all the herbs separately before putting them together to get a better tasting blend. You’ll have to find a good balance between:
the right dosage of each herb to get their medicinal value,
the taste of said herbs to your liking,
the right dosage to avoid any possible side effects.
The herbs that cause the main desired effect should take up to 70% of the blend.
One type of effect can be based on which system you want to work in (if the herbs all have similar positive effects on immune, circulatory, digestive, or other systems, like for example calming nerves or easing digestion). The other would be a nourishing effect (if the effects on each system cancel each other and thus you’re only taking in the nutrients, like minerals and vitamins, of the herb). The first kind would all have herbs that work together towards a common goal, the second would have effects that counteract each other so you only absorb their nutrients.
Then you’ll have supporting herbs, up to your 20%, that either boost the good medicine, and/or relief possible side effects of the main herbs.
Depending on the effects each plant has on your body, you’ll want them to boost each other or counteract each other. Also take into account if it’s an overall cooling or warming effect, boosting or slowing down metabolism, if it dries or moistens the tissues with minerals and fluids, and whether it’s relaxing or constricting/toning in tissues aswell.
Last should be possible catalysts. These are optional, but recommended. That would be up to 10% of stimulant herbs that boost metabolism or enhance the overall effects of  the others, to really get all the good stuff into your body.
Some good examples of catalysts are ginger root, cayenne or licorice root, but be careful with licorice as it can be toxic in high amounts!
To give you an example of how I’d put everything into practice: if my goal is to make a tea blend that’s toning, rich in minerals and vitamins and strengthens the immune system, I’d use 5 parts stinging nettle, 2 parts lemon balm (for the main effects), 2 parts thyme (supporting), and 1 part ginger root (catalyst), then sweeten to taste. Parts can be grams, teaspoons, or smaller measures, depending on how much blend you want to prepare. If you’re going to try this blend, do this exercise: research each plant, it’s medicinal value and side effects, and you’ll find out why I put them together!
Also, I personally love the taste of stinging nettle, yet someone else may prefer to use 5 parts of lemon balm and 2 parts of stinging nettle instead and get a slightly different result, more soothing to the nervous system, try it for yourself and always check for the effects and right dosages. I normally measure each part as grams, and this formula gives me around 2-3 liters of infusion, depending on how strong you make it. That is, using dry herbs, if you’re using fresh plant material you’ll need more grams. Normally 1 teaspoon of dry herb equals 1 tablespoon of fresh herb, or 1 part dried equals 3 parts fresh, but there may be slight differences between each plant depending on how much water it contains.
Finally, write everything down! The formula, how it worked for you and what it tastes like.
Thanks for reading ♡

2024 Grimoire Challenge Review - January Week 1
Well, I had to wait until Wednesday to get out of the house and get a binder and some paper for my challenge grimoire this year, so I basically speedran all of the December prep and the first week of January, because I will never learn and never improve on this habit of mine.
Keeping in line with other grimoires I've used in the past (such as the Epsilon Ledger and the Delta Book of Tarot Spreads), this red binder has been named the Eta Binder. I wrote down my proper name (let's go, trans mages!), tacked @2024-grimoire-challenge onto it to remind myself that that's what we're doing, and gave it a date of working. Since I started on Wednesday, that's 1/3/2024 (because I'm an American) to an unknown end date.
I had to scramble to come up with a list of 52 plants and stones to work on. I just went through the list of herbs and teas offered by my local ("local" being half an hour away) spice shop and capped it off with some Missouri flowers. For the stones, I just flipped through Judy Hall's Crystal Bible (somehow both a really good and really bad reference book) back and forth a bunch of times until I had a list of crystals I hadn't already done dives about.
As for my magical study ideas, I mostly just threw shit down that I've been interested in or have just gotten interested in. I gave each deity I worship their own bulletpoint and also split up the specific areas of pop culture magic I'm digging more into. I made sure there was a blend of comfortable old stuff, brand new stuff that I'm not sure of, and things that are generally outside of my purview.
Through the power of "work had too many 3-ring binder dividers", I have split my binder into seven sections - 1 is Plants, 2 is Stones, 3 is Work-Related Notes, 4 is Spells Designed (if I complete any, they'll be moved into my spell binder that also houses all of my correspondence lists), 5 if Journal, 6 is currently blank, and 7 is Empty Pages.
Then I finally got started on the actual projects. For the plant and crystal prompts this week, I used an integer generator online to choose two numbers randomly and received caraway (aka Carum carvi) and muscovite (aka KAl2(AlSi3O10)(F,OH)2), so I used my normal research process for the two. It was actually pretty fun, if you ignore the fact that my hand hurt so much because it ended up being 4 pages (well, 2 pages but front and back) EACH of information drawn from books and digital sources that I was all but copying word for word.
As for the Work-Related Notes, that's where I've saved things like my Definitions page, Spellwriting 101 (in my practice), and a page about my Common Tools.
I will admit that I skipped the year outline, mostly because the passing of the year means near nothing in my craft. I don't celebrate any particular "magical holidays", I don't work by the moon cycle, I'm definitely not Wiccan and thus don't celebrate the Wheel of the Year, seasons just mean whether or not I have to wear a coat, and I don't care about matching particular workings to days of the week. I'm starting to think I'm just a deeply boring person, upon reflection.
Then we get to the Work Spaces / Altars page, and oh boy! I don't actually do...workings at my altars, so they're probably better described as shrines. I have my Primary Work Space (my wooden desk, the metal microwave stand I've stolen from somewhere, and the tiny red bookshelf under the microwave stand) that is an absolute MESS at every given point that holds whatever the fuck I'm working on, regardless of what project it is. I have a Thoughtform & Spirit Shelf (which is actually a partial shelf) in my big red bookshelf that holds the anchors for my thoughtforms but also my PokeFamiliar. I have five altars around my room that are currently holding seven deities, a candle for an eighth deity, the Lokifam, three spirits, the Unknown Benefactor, the symbol of an animal spirit I want to reach out to at some point this year, and Jasper's Casper (an adorable little ghost that my coworker and her daughter crocheted for me to celebrate the first anniversary of me working at the library).
Shit's a bit cramped in here!
And today, I'm writing about my Personal Practices that have made it into my craft. I'm actually working on this now, but I paused to write up this summary. It's pretty neat to think about all the stuff I've done that I still do.
Results: My hand hurts and my head is throbbing, but c'est la vie. This is a really fun challenge, and I hope it goes all the way through 2024, unlike when I tried to do the 2023 challenge and the host of that one vanished into the aether.

For modern au!bully the fatui-- weird shit/abilities they develop because of their rich kid upbringing or just general rich kid-ness
Diluc: godlike sense of smell
I feel like hed have this because, even if he hates the taste of wine and alcohol in general, he still has to work and do his job as he is expected to take over the family business. He has to keep quality control and help with the making of new wine and even cocktail recipe books and food guides to pair or mix the wine with. And all of that has to do with taste. But the thing with wine is, it has to be smelled first before tasting to really get the full flavor. And Diluc, who is as stubborn as a mule and so set on not drinking wine, just-- starts training his nose from early childhood and even until now so it can basically act as a second tongue just so he doesnt have to taste the wine. His sense of smell is so precise that he can tell the acidity and quality of the soil used for the grapes, the age and quality and even the damn sPECIES of grapes, fruits and whatever is used in the making-- god he can probably even tell the grape tenders life story from it-- mans basically kamado tanjiro from demon slayer and akira hayama from food wars fused together and specialized for wine smelling.
Ayato: obsure culture and history facts, and a really precise eye for detail
Mans entire job is to be an event planner for any and all important and/or cultural events. If he gets even a SINGLE THING WRONG, hes probably gonna get fucking dragged. So to combat this, he just-- absorbs all of the history. Half, if not, most of his work sched is literally just him reviewing historical events, documents, etc. and interviewing and talking to historians and cultural experts to just brush up and even update his mental archive. It got to such a point that he actually studied a wHOLE OTHER COUNTRYS ENTIRE CULTURE AND HISTORY BECAUSE HE WENT LIKE "oh shit, for this event, this country had a thing with this other country and fUCK I NEED TO ACCOUNT FOR THAT TOO--" and thomas just in the background like "sir, you dont have to-- that country isnt even involved with the history of this festival--" and ayatos just tearing thru his archive and aggressively googling like "bUT I NEED TO MAKE SURE--" so now hes a history and culture buff. Literally. This man can slice you in half while monologuing about the cultural significance of fucken..... toilet paper.
Yelan: green thumb and plant nerd
Yanshang Teahouse was a teahouse first and foremost before it became a casino under Yelans leadership. Of course to respect and keep up the ruse of it still being a teahouse sorta, yelan had to quickly learn and pickup tea culture and history, much like ayato. But unlike ayato, yelan wasnt raised to take over the yanshang teahouse and therefore only had like what? A couple months or something to pickup and master the craft before she had to update their business from "teahouse" to "teahouse and casino" like how resorts world is both a casino and mall. So most of her waking hours spent in the acquisition and integration of the company was her just speed running "how to tea for dummies 101", during which she actually got a bit of an obsession over tea after having aquired the taste and tried to blend it with her spices. First attempts of mixing tea with spice was a fail. So, she got it into her head that-- if she cant put the spice into the tea, what if she put the tea into the spice?? And started bREEDING TEA VARITIES WITH CHILLIES. Its more of a hobby as she is still learning more and more about tea culture and hasnt stopped learning and teaching herself ever since the acquisition, but you bet your ass once she gets a good mix, she will snort that shit.
Lol wanted to add yelan having insane sleight of hand skills but thats to be expected when you own a casino AHAHA
Tumblr media
So I have little idea to add.
They have been together so long they've been learning each other's skills. Like Diluc loves to garden with Yelan and he helps her with the smell cause he can tell how the soil is. Yelan will actually tolerate Ayato's history lessons and planning. And Ayato just like drinking well Diluc goes over the smell. It's all great

Veneers 101: The Secret to Achieving a Hollywood-Worthy Smile
Tumblr media
Introduction:
In the pursuit of a radiant and flawless smile, many individuals turn to cosmetic dentistry to enhance the appearance of their teeth. Among the various options available, veneers have gained immense popularity, offering a transformative solution for achieving a Hollywood-worthy smile. Let's delve into the world of veneers and uncover the secrets behind their success in creating dazzling, confident smiles.
Understanding Veneers:
Veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made shells crafted from materials like porcelain or composite resin. These shells are designed to cover the front surface of your teeth, concealing imperfections and enhancing overall aesthetics. Whether dealing with discoloured, chipped, or misaligned teeth, veneers provide a versatile solution to achieve a uniformly beautiful smile.
Types of Veneers:
Porcelain Veneers:
Crafted from high-quality porcelain, these veneers are known for their durability and natural appearance.
Porcelain closely mimics the translucency of natural teeth, ensuring a seamless blend with the rest of your smile.
Customized to match the shape, size, and colour of your natural teeth, providing a personalized and aesthetically pleasing result.
Composite Resin Veneers:
Made from a tooth-coloured resin material, composite veneers offer a more budget-friendly alternative to porcelain.
While not as stain-resistant as porcelain, composite veneers are a versatile option for minor cosmetic enhancements.
The application process is usually quicker compared to porcelain veneers, making them a suitable choice for those seeking immediate results.
The Veneer Application Process:
Consultation:
Before undergoing the veneer application process, schedule a consultation with a qualified dentist.
During the consultation, discuss your goals, expectations, and any concerns you may have about the procedure.
Your dentist will assess your oral health and determine if veneers are the right solution for you.
Tooth Preparation:
To ensure a proper fit, a small amount of enamel may be removed from the surface of the teeth receiving veneers.
Impressions of your teeth are then taken to create customized veneers that perfectly match the contours of your natural teeth.
Temporary Veneers:
While waiting for the permanent veneers to be crafted, temporary veneers may be placed to protect your prepared teeth and maintain aesthetics.
Veneer Bonding:
Once the custom veneers are ready, they are carefully bonded to the front surface of your teeth using a strong adhesive.
The dentist ensures proper alignment and fit, making any necessary adjustments to achieve optimal results.
Benefits of Veneers:
Aesthetic Enhancement:
Veneers address a variety of cosmetic concerns, including discoloration, chips, cracks, and misalignments.
The result is a radiant and harmonious smile that boosts confidence and leaves a lasting impression.
Stain Resistance:
Porcelain veneers, in particular, are highly resistant to stains, helping maintain a bright and vibrant smile over time.
This makes veneers an excellent choice for individuals who enjoy coffee, tea, or red wine but want to preserve the whiteness of their teeth.
Durability:
Veneers are durable and can withstand normal biting and chewing forces. With proper care and maintenance, veneers can last for many years, providing a long-lasting solution for a dazzling smile.
Conclusion:
Veneers have become the secret weapon for achieving a Hollywood-worthy smile, offering a transformative solution to enhance the overall aesthetics of your teeth. Whether opting for porcelain or composite resin veneers, the customization and precision of the application process ensure a natural-looking and durable result. Consult with a qualified dentist to explore how veneers can elevate your smile, boost your confidence, and unlock the radiant, picture-perfect grin you've always desired. Face Wash 101: Find Your Perfect Match for Glowing Skin
Achieving a luminous complexion doesn't always demand layers of foundation, blush, and gloss; sometimes, it's as simple as choosing the right face wash. While makeup may adorn the skin with fleeting enchantment, a meticulously chosen face wash not only purifies the skin but also unveils its inherent radiance. Imagine it as your trusted knight in shining armour, bravely defending your facial skin against the relentless foes of pollution, UV rays, dust, and pesky sweat.
However, different face washes cater to different skin types. In this blog, let’s delve into the importance of knowing your skin type, recognise the characteristics of different skin types, and provide recommendations for the best face washes tailored to your specific needs.
The Importance of Knowing Your Skin Type
Knowing your skin type plays a vital role in maintaining skin health and preventing common skincare issues. Using skincare products designed for your skin type maximises their effectiveness in addressing your skin's unique concerns.
Tumblr media
Recognising Different Skin Types
Recognising different skin types is crucial in determining the best skincare routine for optimal skin health. Here are the characteristics of each skin type:
Dry skin: Dry skin, deprived of its natural moisture, often manifests in visible patches and a lacklustre complexion. Enter face washes enriched with rejuvenating ingredients such as aloe vera, nourishing oils, and the hydrating prowess of hyaluronic acid, bestowing a revitalising transformation upon parched visages. For a luminous solution to dry skin woes, look no further than Colorbar’s Luminous Glowing and Brightening Face Wash. This glowing face wash not only purges impurities and pollutants from the skin's surface but also imparts a newfound clarity and elasticity, leaving your complexion effortlessly resilient.
Oily skin: Oily skin, predisposed to excess oil production, is usually on the brink of pore congestion and acne eruptions. Harnessing the purifying properties of charcoal or the soothing efficacy of tea tree, infused face washes emerge as formidable allies in tempering oil secretion and dislodging impurities.
Combination skin: This skin type embodies a unique blend of dryness and oiliness, where the T-zone, comprising the forehead, nose, and chin, tends to exhibit heightened oiliness, while the cheeks and other regions may veer towards dryness. Use a refreshing face wash with natural ingredients like green tea to balance oil production while providing hydration to dry or normal areas.
Choosing the Right Face Wash for Your Skin
Dry Skin
... as the name suggests, requires a burst of refreshing hydration. Introducing the skincare saviour for dry skin: Colorbar’s Anti-Acne and Breakout Face Wash. Enriched with a dynamic duo of glycerin and hyaluronic acid, this rejuvenating elixir quenches parched skin cells, delivering a revitalising surge of hydration. The presence of salicylic acid in this brightening face wash deeply cleanses the skin, making it glow like a moon. Aloe vera and milk-based cleansers also prove to be equally efficacious in nurturing and replenishing dry, thirsty skin.
Tumblr media
Oily Skin
... requires a deep cleansing face wash that effectively removes excess oil, maximises shine, and unclogs pores to prevent acne breakouts. For oil-free skin, look out for face washes with ingredients like activated charcoal and tea that rejuvenate the skin. Foaming face wash is another excellent option. Colorbar’s  Hemp + Vitamin C Restoring and Foaming Face Wash offers a luxurious lather that effortlessly purifies the skin, delivering a spa-like indulgence with each use. Enriched further with the skin-loving benefits of aloe vera, pomegranate extract, and shea butter, this formidable formula acts as a shield against the tyranny of oily skin, ensuring a flawless complexion that radiates with vitality and health.
Tumblr media
Combination Skin

Homemade Vitamin C Tea Blend
Hibiscus and rose hips are both Vitamin C power houses. This is a much appreciated homemade tea blend for when an immunity boost is needed, or for the times when you're feeling stressed, over-worked, or dragging just a bit. I add a good bit of saffron, and lemon peel for dimension and flavor. Continue reading Homemade Vitamin C Tea Blend on 101 Cookbooks http://dlvr.it/T2VWPj

A Day in the Life of a College Girl: Balancing Books, BFFs, and (Faux) Drama
**Good morning, sunshines!**
Another day in the glamorous life of a college girl is about to unfold, and you're in for a treat. Brace yourselves for the perfect blend of caffeine-fueled adventures, fashion-forward choices, and academic triumphs. This is a day in my life, a college girl living her best (pretend) life.
**8:00 AM - Rise and Shine, Sleeping Beauty Style**
My day starts with a graceful awakening, just like the princess I am (or at least pretend to be). No messy hair here – we're talking about those Instagram-worthy, sun-kissed morning selfies that could make even the birds sing in jealousy.
**9:00 AM - Breakfast Fit for a Queen**
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? So, naturally, I indulge in a brunch that would make Gordon Ramsay nod in approval. Avocado toast, organic coffee, and a perfectly poached egg, because why not start the day with a Michelin-starred meal?
**10:00 AM - Strutting on Campus Like it's a Catwalk**
With my stylishly casual yet effortlessly chic outfit, I strut across campus as if it's my own personal runway. Paparazzi might mistake me for the latest fashion icon – oversized sunglasses and all. Who says comfort can't be fabulous?
**12:00 PM - Class Act: Drama 101**
Time for class! Today's drama class promises to be a whirlwind of Shakespearean soliloquies and intense method acting. I prepare my Oscar-winning acceptance speech in my head while giving my peers a masterclass in pretending.
**2:00 PM - Lunch with the Squad**
Lunch is a glamorous affair, and the squad gathers at the trendiest café in town. We discuss the latest gossip, fashion trends, and our plans for conquering the world. Who knew salads could taste so much better with a side of fabulous conversation?
**4:00 PM - Academic Excellence (with a Dash of Sass)**
Back to the books, because even a college girl with a flair for drama needs to maintain that 4.0 GPA. I conquer my assignments with the precision of a ninja and the creativity of an artist. Who says you can't be scholarly and sassy at the same time?
**6:00 PM - Yoga or YOLO? Why Not Both?**
Time to channel my inner yogi. I hit the yoga mat, showcasing my flexibility like a contortionist in Cirque du Soleil. It's not about the workout; it's about making everyone wonder if I'm secretly training for the Olympics.
**8:00 PM - Dinner Date with Academia**
Dinner is a solo affair tonight, as I enjoy a home-cooked meal while indulging in some classic literature. Who needs a date when you have the romantic allure of Jane Austen to keep you company?
**10:00 PM - Lights Out, Glamour On**
As the day winds down, I wrap myself in silk pajamas, curl up with a cup of herbal tea, and dive into a Netflix series that's so exclusive, even the streaming platform doesn't know it exists. Lights out, glamour on, as I drift into dreamland, ready to conquer another day in the fabulous life of a college girl.
And there you have it – a day in my (totally made-up) life, where drama, academics, and style collide in the most glamorous way possible. Until next time, darlings! 💋✨

Beverages 101 (What To Drink To Stay Healthy)
Tumblr media
Introduction:
One of the most basic requirements for good health that we routinely ignore is getting enough water. We rely heavily on beverages to help us stay hydrated during the day, but not all beverages are made equal. To help you make educated judgments and keep hydrated, this book will examine a wide variety of healthy drink options.
Water, the Best Hydration:
Water should be your go-to drink on a regular basis because it is the foundation of staying hydrated. It aids in keeping the body running smoothly, promotes glowing skin, and eliminates harmful waste.
The recommended amount of water to drink daily is roughly two litres, or eight 8-ounce glasses. Carry a refillable water bottle with you, set reminders to drink throughout the day, and add some citrus slices or herbs to your water to enhance your water intake.
Smoothies and juices loaded with nutrients:
Smoothies and fresh juices are great ways to replenish lost nutrients while also staying hydrated. The fibre content and nutrient absorption of smoothies can be improved by using entire fruits and vegetables.
Blending greens with other ingredients may be an adventure; try kale with pineapple and coconut water or Greek yoghurt with chia seeds.
Teas and Infusions Made from Herbs:
There are many health advantages to drinking herbal teas rather than ordinary water. Teas like peppermint and chamomile help with digestion, while ginger and ginger teas help with nausea and inflammation.
Herbal infusions like nettle tea, which is recognized for its cleansing benefits, and hibiscus tea, which is high in antioxidants, are good options. To get the most out of your herbal tea, steep it for at least 5 minutes in boiling water.
Healthy Substitutes for Milk:
There are many plant-based milk alternatives that provide similar hydration and nutritional benefits if you’re looking for a dairy-free option. Low in calories and high in vitamin E, almond milk is just crushed almonds combined with water. Protein- and amino acid-packed soy milk and fibre-rich oat milk are two of the healthiest dairy alternatives available.

Good afternoon!
Sorry for being away for the last week, but I've been so busy stuffing my face now that I can eat again. I've eaten donuts, ice cream, pizza, and tacos 🍩🍦🍕🌮 😋
I have noticed something since I've stopped fasting.
My blood sugar seems to regulate better by eating more often.
I've had my omad for over a year the next morning at like 10am my blood sugar is 105, which is too high for a fast.
However, I ate a sub sandwich and a bowl of ice cream (yes, I know, I need to get back on that), and 3 hours later, my blood sugar is 95. Woah! What a difference!
It's funny that I read that book that said fasting helps regulate blood sugar. Riiight. 😉
Sure doesn't for me. I am going to start eating lunch again (still skipping breakfast, no issues with that) but no more snacking.
So, starting tomorrow, since I can eat again, I will start counting calories again.
Ohh. And there's more.
My blood pressure has been sporadic. It's high in the morning and tapers off during the day.
I tested this theory of caffeine on Friday by drinking caffeine all day. That morning, it was 139/88, and then later that afternoon at about 5ish, it dropped to 101/54. I had 3 cups of coffee and 2 green tea drinks throughout the day, and it was still dropping even though I kept drinking caffeine. So we can rule that out as a cause. I have a telehealth appointment on Wednesday, so I will see what my doctor says I should do.
I went to this naturopath store that I've been to a few times (come to find out the original owner died 😞 and there's a woman working there now) and I picked up this cute cat infuser and some mushroom blend to drink (like mudwtr).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hope that it will help me get back on track to losing some more weight. Or should I say, "resume" losing weight.
I'm back at a size 12 but there's still time for me to get to a size 8 by October. I have just under 3 months.
I will weigh in tomorrow before lunch.
I hope everything goes according to plan.
