Some of you are fucking xenophobic and it shows. Two people died! The show was canceled 2 hours before the time it was supposed to start after thousands of people were already inside the stadium after spent hours under the sun!!! Ana's family doesn't even have the money to bring her body back home for them to bury (she lived in a different state far away from Rio). The fans are trying to raise money to help them but dude TAYLOR SWIFT IS A BILLIONAIRE!!! I love Taylor and I know everything that happened these last days wasn't her fault but Ana was inside that stadium because she LOVED Taylor. It would be nice if she helped the family of her fan. We are people! We brazilians deserve respect and empathy!!!! So before you start to offend us for being upset take your head from your fucking gringo ass and have some compassion!!!!

Eu vou ficar pro show de segunda mas eu tô de coração quebrado de ver os fãs que não ficaram, de saber da Ana que morreu no show, de saber de um fã que foi esfaqueado na cidade.

O Rio é muito perigoso e toda a situação é muito tensa.

Minha amiga passou mal ontem e eu vi várias pessoas passando mal de ataque de pânico, barulho de tiro e todo mundo correndo com medo.

Não precisava ter sido conduzido dessa forma, poderia ter sido bem melhor.

Enfim, nesse momento eu estou em lágrimas e ainda não parece ser suficiente pra mim aliviar o medo e a angústia que eu tô sentindo, e eu sinto que não posso falar isso pra amiga que está aqui comigo porque ela pode ter ansiedade e desistir do show que ela vai em SP. E não posso falar com a minha irmã porque ela também pode ter uma crise de ansiedade.

what happened with taylor swift? i heard about the fan dying but not much else

Ana Benevides, a 23-year-old black woman died during Taylor Swift's concert in Rio, and her family doesn't even have the money to transport her body back to their city. Apparently, Taylor spoke superficially about this, not even mentioning the victim's name. Furthermore, a thousand more people became ill during the show because of the heat. It was around 60°C (140° F) there. The show's production team even placed metal sheets on the floor that made it even hotter, blocked the air vents so that no one could see the show from outside, and didn't let people come in with bottles of water, you had to buy it inside, but was being sold at an exorbitant price.

The problem is that Taylor is a billionaire, she could very well have avoided all of this. And now that it's happened, she's doing absolutely nothing to help. Brazilian fans who had to raise money on their own to help Ana's family.

Obviously, the climate issue is not her fault, but the entire country has been on alert for weeks because of the heat. Crowding people together in these conditions is completely wrong. Both her team and the company they hired should have taken more responsibility.

They even canceled the second show, but it was at the last minute after fans spent hours queuing under the hot sun. And in the last show she did here yesterday, she didn't comment on the girl who died, nor did she mention anything.

Can we all just agree now before the show starts not to pass judgement or police Taylor on how she deals with yesterday’s tragedy moving forward? If she’s more subdued on stage tonight that’s OK. If she’s smiley and laughing, amazing. Let’s not weaponise her emotions. She said last night in her statement that she wouldn’t be able to talk about it, and that’s totally valid but if she does end up saying something, be gentle. Don’t complain about surprise song choices or speeches. Understand that as much as we all know it wasn’t her or her team’s fault, this is their worst nightmare and they will feel grief/blame/responsibility Just let her and them do their job however they needs to. Same goes for Night 3. As for after the shows? Whether she needs to lay low for a while or go about life as normal in public, don’t punish her. What happened to Ana was horrifying. But we don’t need to put Taylor or anyone else, except those directly involved with the stadium (who have already made safety changes) on trial for it, OK? OK.

The amount of xenophobia and racism these last couple of days that came out around what's happening with Taylor Swift, in these last days in Brazil, shows the true colours of, specially, North Americans.

They only care of Latinos and our culture when they can gain some profit.

Another unwelcome climate change milestone.

You may have heard about Taylor Swift cancelling a concert in Rio de Janeiro because of the heat. This is how hot it was.

The record was hit on Sunday in the town of Araçuaí, in Brazil's south-eastern state of Minas Gerais. The unprecedented weather has been attributed to the El Niño phenomenon and climate change. Forecasters say some of the heat is likely to ease this week. According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), only three state capitals will see temperatures approaching 40C, CNN Brasil reported. The government agency said Araçuaí's high of 44.8C had beaten the country's previous record of 44.7C, measured in 2005. The heat has seen red alerts issued across the country, weeks before the beginning of summer in the southern hemisphere. Brazil's energy consumption has soared to record levels as people try to keep themselves cool.

The state of Minas Gerais is located in between Rio and the national capital Brasília. It is not a remote area. And in the Southern Hemisphere, this is the equivalent of mid to late spring. To paraphrase Ned Stark, Summer is coming.

The high temperatures led to Taylor Swift cancelling one of her concerts in Rio de Janeiro after a fan fell ill and died before a show on Friday. According to the organisers, 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides Machado had sought help at the stadium after feeling unwell. She was transferred to hospital but died one hour later. Official research released two weeks ago showed that the average temperature in the country had been above the historical average from July to October. Extreme weather is becoming more frequent and more intense in many places around the world because of climate change.

Climate deniers may try to blame the record heat on the latest El Niño. But that ignores the fact that it hadn't gotten this hot in Brazil during any of the previous recurring El Niños.

This is yet another indication that climate change is testing the limits of where humans can survive.

Brazil's previous president, Jair Bolsonaro, gave the green light to deforestation of the Amazon rainforest. The neo-fascist "Trump of the Tropics" in three years during his term oversaw the deforestation of an area larger than Belgium.

Bolsonaro in his own way added to the misery Brazil is currently experiencing. He is a climate traitor to his own country.

What the actual fuck???? She doesn’t care???? When she postponed the show for your safety????? She didn’t even cancel it completely she just postponed and people are trying so hard to help everyone that were affected and couldn’t stay for monday. She stopped songs in the middle of the show to ask for water for fans and didn’t go on with the show until she was guaranteed that the fans would get the water.

More than a thousand people passed out cause of the heat and a fan DIED because of it. People still fainted and were carried away to the ambulances today even with all the additional safety measures. After the immense heat (that was worse than yesterday) there was a massive storm where another artist in another venue had their stage collapse to the ground cause of the rain. The stadium Taylor is performing in Rio literally became an attraction to lightning
