This is a physical cartridge. This isn't the first time something inexplicable and weird happened. Though it hasn't happened often.

So, I started playing Tales of Abyss last week, and while I do NOT like Luke as a character (I find him annoying as a main character, and hope he gets a little more tolerable as the story progresses), I do not believe the group treated him fairly after what happened in Akzeriuth.

Yeah, he's a brat, and him refusing to take ANY responsibility is childish and annoying BUT, it wasn't 100% his fault. Van groomed him. Yes, it was Luke's powers that destroyed the Sephiroth. Yes, he should have told the group his plan with Van beforehand. But, he had no reason to ever doubt Van. The man essentially raised him for 7 years, trained with him, and treated him like a son. Of course Luke would never believe Tear, especially after he was accidentally thrown halfway around the world, due to her assassination attempt (on someone he explicitly trusted).

Luke isn't entirely free from blame, but I think that everyone is a little responsible for Akzeriuth in some way.

Tear should have stayed with everyone until the townspeople were safe. I know she was specifically sent there to look for the 7th Fonstonebut, if it was already in the knights custody, and secured, then she could have looked at it after Akzeriuth was evacuated.

Jade definitely played a part in alienating Luke from the group. I get that Luke was being suuuuper annoying about helping out (the scene with Natalia, where he told her to get away from the miner because he was dirty, had me physically angry), but if Jade is actually 30 like Anise (I think?) says then he needs to act like it. He's the grown-up in this situation, he shouldn't have made fun of Luke so much, he should know better.

I'm still trying to figure Anise out as a character. All she's done since day one is cozy up to Luke because she wants to marry into money. She is also 13, so like 🤷‍♀️ idk.

Natalia? She does not care about Luke. She cares about the memory of Luke, of how he used to be before he was kidnapped. This becomes incredibly apparent once the group starts traveling with Asch (the Luke She grew up with). The speed at which she drops Luke for Asch is appalling, as soon as they ditch Luke in the Qliphoth she's practically all over him. I get that Luke was being a whiney brat, and that you want to make up the 7 year loss for Asch, but damn girl! Did those 7 years with Luke mean nothing??

As for Guy, he trained with Luke and also kind of raised him; He should have kept a closer eye on Luke when he started to distance himself from the party. While everyone was right to be harsh on Luke for his behavior, Guy should have been there to support him as his best friend. Once Guy left Luke to his own devices, that's when Van won.

Honestly, the best thing about Guy right now is that he at least recognizes that the Luke of 7 years ago and Asch are no longer the same (unlike Natalia).

Don't even get me started on Asch because how in the world did he ever think Luke would listen to him after taking control of his body, and then invading his mind just to neg him on and make fun of him? I'm mean, seriously, he's worse than Jade and Anise. 🙄

And, Ion should have never opened the Sephiroth Gate; if opening it doesn't do anything, then leave it closed.

I just really feel that they all piled onto Luke because he was the easy target. Because it was his powers that ultimately wiped out the town. Even though Van was the one who planned everything.
