Tales of white 🤍
———
The white(ish) haired characters !
Pascal might have been a better fit for the red characters but I kinda forgot about her 😔
At first I was like I can’t put Artorius on here cause I didn’t draw any of the vilains until now but then I remembered this series is an excuse to draw characters I like so I added him anyway

Round 16: Mithos Yggdrasill vs Artorius Collbrande
The final round in the first gauntlet! If these guys had their way, none of you would have your souls left to even debate sexiness, but luckily they haven't won yet so we can get down to important business. Who is sexy enough to be the last person to make it past the first level?

I gotta rant for a sec (about a video game kinda sorta technically)
Have you ever had a character that you hate with a burning, firey passion? And then you forget about the game for a while bc so much has happened since you played it. But then whilst scrolling tiktok, you stumble upon a video and all it took was a split second and 4 little words
“Why do birds fly?”
TO REIGNITE THE BURNING FIREY RAGE DEEP WITHIN YOU
EAT SHIT, COLLBRANDE
IF I COULD PHYSICALLY FIGHT A FICTIONAL CHARACTER, ITD BE HIM

The Symbolism of Velvet’s Comb
In Tales of Berseria, Laphicet copies one of Arthur's book to exchange it for a comb to give to Velvet. Additionally, Arthur also gives Velvet Celica's comb as a gift in the Tales of Berseria novella, A Witch's Tale: A World Full of Daemons.
If you studied Japanese it's probably not a good idea to give a comb to someone as a gift. The reason for that is due to the fact it's a homonym of suffer and die.
Comb in Japanese is 櫛 (くし) or kushi in romanization which is a homonym for
苦死
苦 (く) [ku] - pain, suffer, anguish
死 (し) [shi] - death
Throughout the narrative, the comb served as memory of Velvet deceased brother Laphicet, as well as her late sister Celica (in the novella). However, it could also be a foreshadowing of Velvet’s grim future from the time she was given the comb. Towards the end of the game, that comb breaking could possibly represent moving on from that grief or breaking away from her continuous suffering.

And "Tales of Berseria" completed. I completed the game on the "evil" difficulty, which is the penultimate difficulty (I intend to play on the "chaos" difficulty on New Game + and get all the trophies) and it was a great struggle against the last challenge, especially the first part of the final boss fight that you face two enemies at the same time.
"Tales of Berseria" is a peculiar game when we talk about heroes and villains since our group of protagonists are misfits, rebels, criminals and throughout the game the things you do have a negative impact on the population's opinion. It is rare to find conversations in the city where there is someone who is not condemning your group for their actions.
On the other hand, the villains are precisely the side that in classic stories represents the order, especially the main one, the Shepherd, the paladin, Artorius Collbrande.
Artorius Collbrande earned a place on my list of best gaming villains. I had already seen his ideas in other places, films, books and games, which reflected his desire for order and the extermination of threats to the people using any means necessary. But because he is a symbol of these convictions and especially his dialogues with Velvet, the protagonist who represents the side of chaos as opposed to the order he represents, makes his appearances truly remarkable.
To be honest, I've always liked villains more than heroes, they're always more interesting to me because they break the mold, so when I don't have any interest in a villain he's usually really poorly written (cough cough…Hans from "Frozen"…cough cough). And Artorius is one of the great villains for me, although he is not the type of villain that makes me root for him but rather the villain that makes me hate him for himself and not because of the influence of a childish and irritating fanbase.
This is the second "Tales of" game that I have completed, with the first being the first in the franchise, "Tales of Phantasia" itself, which also has an interesting villain in the form of Dhaos.
