I’m throwing my hat into the ring. I’ve talked about cartoons and shows and movies. I’ve even talked about a licensed Xbox game from my childhood. But I haven’t gone in depth about what aspect I like and dislike about video games. Portal is my favorite video game series of all time and it is the perfect example of the things I love in video games… and the things I don’t Special Thanks to Saltydkdan for getting his PHD and lending his scientific expertise to my analysis. Here's a hi-res version of the Cryo Pod from System Shock 2, trying to stay pretty faithful to the original. It’s also made to the exact same scale so that it slots into the level.
It was mainly made to see how much effort re-creating assets would be for my personal SS2 project:

Regarding the model - it’s a bit high-poly for what it is, but originally I wasn’t sure if I was going to use it for pre-rendered assets. I figured I can always bake down some of those polys to the normal map later on if I need to cut it down a bit. It’s also a little bit too weathered for a brand new ship like the Von Braun, but I was hiding my inadequacies as an artist behind grime textures/normals :p
The model was created in 3ds Studio Max and textured in Substance Painter.

Given its status as a cult classic, it's both curious, and a pleasant surprise, that the good people at Zen Studios are paying homage to the iconic cyberpunk sci-fi shooter "System Shock" with "System Shock Pinball" for "Pinball M" and "Pinball FX." Less surprising: that it's as fun for fans of that game as it is for pinball heads. Here's the link to my review.

System Shock, the new game from Nightdive Studios and Prime Matter, is out today.
Meet SHODAN. The psychotic AI has taken control of Citadel Station and turned the crew into an army of cyborgs and mutants; She now plans to do the same to Earth. You must explore and battle your way through the depths of a space station gone to hell. Stop SHODAN and avert humanity’s destruction.
Submission for Big Festive Game Jam 2022. The jam was 10 days long and we ranked #11.
It's an FPS which might not be super original.. but it draws a lot of inspiration from Portal and System Shock!
The game was made in Unreal. I did 2D and game design for it and was really happy that the team also like the direction. In the end everyone did an amazing job!
A few things couldn't be implemented or tested but overall really happy with this one.
Give it a try (if your PC can handle it, it's kinda heavy😬)
