it's also like. a lot of these people have made being The Most Progressive Moral Leftist a goal and marker of true social clout. and they have thus made leftism a personality trait rather than a political stance. so you see takes on here (usually from teenagers lmfao) equating leftism with having sex, having friends, going to clubs, not liking "cringey" things, dressing cool, etc while conservatives/liberals are everything But that (i.e liberals are all asexual steven universe fandom moms and conservatives are all straight white men who go to church on sunday)

when the reality is like..... literally anyone can be anything. there are people who you would think are cool and awesome (i.e they're queer, they go to clubs, they have sex, they dress in modern fashion, they have an alternative appearance) and then they open their mouths and it turns out they voted for trump or think the holocaust was fake. there's tay//lor swift fans who went to jail for dodging the draft in israel. and people with fandom blogs who spend every weekend volunteering at their local homeless shelter and rioted during the george floyd protests/riots. or any combination of literally any trait w any political ideology

like you genuinely cannot tell someone's morals or political stances based on their appearance or social activities and it's really weird to conflate the two. it's not a popularity contest ykwim?

it's crazy to me that there are people out there who still think that media and fiction do not affect how people think at all

#like that whole 'does fiction affect reality?' debate is so stupid to me cuz it's like #i mean just think about it for a second. what is propaganda? what did jaws do for people's perceptions of sharks?#i think studying the effect that popular media and fiction has on people in real life is really interesting #and it's crazy to me that there are people on the internet who think that it genuinely doesn't #like umm shoutout vit sisler for his paper 'digital arabs' i just read it for my game studies class and it's super interesting #about like orientalization how western shooter games' usage of middle eastern/muslim stereotypes as enemies created both a negative -#- stereotype for people who arent in that group and how it negatively affects the mental health and self-image of the people who are #also shoutout stuart hall and richard dyer they're really cool people and also have some super interesting papers on how representation -#- in media affects people's IRL perceptions of certain groups #i know online this focus tends to lean on that whole shipping discussion but i think it's more worthwhile to look at it on a wider scale #because 'does fiction affect reality?' is not just a 'fandom ship war' discussion it's like. the basis for many fields of study #anyways umm #liza post #actually this is more like a #liza ramble #i love tumblr bc i can write a one sentence post and put my body paragraphs in the tags #it's really late and i am tired ‼️ i wish i could be more concise i just adore my game studies class and visual culture studies in general

#I know we haven't been online much today. tumblr has been showing us triggering ads. but something very unfortunate has happened.#and I can't do anything about it. I can't fix it for Tommy. There's nothing that can be done about it.#and it's really silly. let's be honest it's silly. but it's really hurting it.#I don't really wanna explain that much but essentially it made a character it was super excited about right?#aaaaaaaaand just a few minutes ago it found out someone already made a character by that name with the same core trait.#not only that but their character is very popular. So now Tommy feels like it either has to dramatically change the character or #just never post about them. Which fucking sucks.#especially because it already changed this character's name once because it saw that the original name was already used several times.#and it got really attached to the second one partially because of that but partially because it thought this name was much cuter.#and there's nothing we can do about any of this. I think it hurts especially because its character had become very comforting.#the other person's character also had a very similar disability which we also have so Tommy gave its character.#so that as you can imagine is making the entire thing worse especially because it's a pretty uncommon disability.#I know most of our followers are not systems but it can be hard to not be able to fix things when that feels like the only reason you exist.#we'll get to see our puppy soon at least. That has to cheer it up at least a little.

the whole "we need more content about the non-men" narrative going around on tiktok and twitter is stupid. and im gonna rant

why? because that content is out there. interact with it. there a fics about them, there is fan art, there are edits, and guess what!!!! just like everything about this fandom... they can and do exist in your brain.

another thing. don't complain about it and then when people start creating more content, fail to interact with it. fic writers write what they love, BUT are more motivated when there are people (even just one person) out there that wants to read it.

like... the amount of people i see asking for ships or characters or whatever that they want (which asking/demanding it is another issue) and then ignoring it when it's right there, is actually absurd.

the "problem" is not even a problem. stop acting like it is. you don't sound woke by demanding more attention for women (and then posting primarily about men) you just sound annoying.

#it's so simple #you want to read about xyz wlw ship? go search it on ao3 #no fics exist for it? write one! post your thoughts on them! talk about them!#you wants fics that are focused on women... okay so read them #not every ship or character has mega popular fics at the moment and reading a fic that has less hits or kudos is OKAY #every fic started out with zero hits and zero kudos... you may just find your new fav fic by searching on ao3 #just like. stop trying to sound cool by pushing wlw ships or non men characters on people #i love to complain so i get it but there is in fact a super simple solution... so use it.#reasons i'm distancing from twitter and tiktok. i hate the energy there #live laugh love tumblr it's much better over here

Had a really funny anecdotal moment just know but I can't find the words to tell you what happened without either 1: summoning a legion of potentially hostile strangers from a fandom I'm not in to my digital doorstep or 2: unleashing information that's vastly too personal for the scope of this blog.
