It is a much-cherished experience of mine in TV-watching to suddenly be absolutely clobbered over the head by otp feels where I had felt none before, all throughout the course of one enchanted episode. The episodes listed above are some of my most cherished experiences of that kind. But which is your fave??

Hannibal 3.04 Aperitivo
The music which plays during Will’s fantasy in which he imagines a world in which he kills Jack in preparation to run away with Hannibal is Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46: II. The Death of Ase, composed by Edvard Grieg. Peer Gynt is a five-act verse play by Henrik Ibsen, published in Norwegian in 1867 and produced in 1876.
It tells the story of Peer Gynt, a charming but lazy and arrogant peasant youth who leaves home to seek his fortune. Confident of success, he has one disastrous adventure after another. In one, he attends the wedding of a wealthy young woman he himself might have married. There he meets Solveig, who falls in love with him. He impulsively abducts the bride from her wedding celebration and subsequently abandons her. He then embarks on a series of fantastic voyages around the world, finding wealth and fame but never happiness. Finally, old and disillusioned, he returns to Norway, where Solveig, ever faithful and loving, welcomes him home, and he is redeemed. (x)

Dune: Part Two (2024)
Every piece of technology felt and looked so tangible. The baby worm too! Love the tactile nature of this whole production and I hope studios take note that CG can't be the only tool in your belt. So much bigger than I imagined and just enjoyed the whole thing.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)
Ages surprisingly well and a script that lets the main quartet be both funny and layered.

Columbo (1.01 to 1.03)
Hey I'm starting Columbo! Love that each episode is feature-length and Columbo appears fully formed right out of the gate. The sets and costumes are all so glamorous and L.A. Very excited to keep going.
Succession (2.05 to 3.04)
The Kendall play at the end of season 2 felt very much like the Kendall play at the end of season 1 and while I'm still a huge fan of this series, I just hope it's not the same going into season 3 and 4.
Delicious in Dungeon (Episode 1.09 to 1.13)
Great adaptation that isn't just a straight recreation of the artwork in the manga. The more kinetic/frantic moments in the animation are a nice departure and while they don't pop up in each episode, now that I'm 13 eps deep I can appreciate how they're sprinkled throughout.
Love is Blind (Episode 6.02 to 6.13)
It still amazes me that anyone goes on reality tv.

Saltburn: The Tumblr-ification of Cinema by Broey Deschanel
Every since I saw Saltburn, I've been thinking about what wasn't quite sitting right with me. This unlocked a lot of what I couldn't describe and most of it stems from the writer/director's upper class upbringing. Saltburn isn't a "take down the rich" movie, it's a horror story from the perspective of a wealthy family.

After picking up the last book in this series (which I've yet to read) I figured I'd start at the beginning. Love the fast pace pulpy action and I can see how this influenced the creation of D&D.
The Man in the Brown Suit by Agatha Christie
(Complete)
This one would lose me for stretches but the final quarter of the book is stronger. A lot less cozy and a lot more action than I was expecting but skimming other reviews it sounds like this was written during her more...adventure-focused era. Three books deep and I have to give Christie credit that each has been a completely different experience.
Adventures of a Japanese Business Man by Jose Domingo
(Complete)
Always love going back to this nearly wordless epic that follows the titular Japanese business man. I love the complexity of the earliest panels and wish that could carry throughout more of the book, but it's always such a treat to discover just where each new panel will go.
Delicious in Dungeon Volume 5 by Ryoko Kui
(Complete)
Enjoying rereading this with shorter breaks between volumes as I certainly missed/forgot details on my first read. It's here that the story and tone shifts from light romp to a more dramatic and dangerous affair but it never loses its spot-on humour. Love those dryad pumpkins.

Spot It (Blue Orange Games)
I can't recommend this game enough. It's so easy to learn, rounds last maybe 5 minutes, it plays well with small or large groups of any age, and all it requires is pattern recognition and quick reflexes. Every time I've played this someone says they're going to buy a copy for themselves.

So I started watching Succession somewhere between s2 n s3 and till yesterday, I was under the impression Rava Roy(?) is supposed to be of Indian descent (though why someone would name her after food idk) but then I saw some bts of s4 with the actress and I'm sure she's white or not idk 😂 Point is, can you tell if the kids are supposed to be adopted? (That's what was suggested in an article) like I'm so confused??? Are they biracial? Is her ethnicity ambiguous? I feel like maybe you might have the answer for me 😅
It's never explicitly stated, anon, but I'm pretty sure Rava is supposed to be Jewish.
Natalie Gold, the actress who plays her, is Jewish herself, and the name Rava actually has Hebrew origins dating back to around the year 300CE. Interestingly enough, it's actually traditionally a boy's name in Hebrew meaning a father, which feels pretty deliberate given the nature of the show. I think too that her being Jewish makes sense given the tension between her and Logan, and Kendall's hyper-sensitivity to Logan's anti-semitism, most notably in 3.04 which happened pretty quickly timeline-wise after Kendall retreated to (and took over) Rava's apartment when he didn't have anywhere else to go.
In that sense, I do think we're supposed to understand that Sophie is adopted, yes. I've talked about it on here before, but I tend to think that Iverson is biological, and it's that, plus him being a boy and white, that causes Logan to simultaneously dote on, weaponise and abuse Iverson more directly and visibly on screen than he does Sophie. As far as Logan's concerned, Iverson is the only heir beyond his children, and it's pretty clear that he's been found wanting. What that means for Sophie who is, of course, just as much Kendall and Rava's child, is open to speculation, but I think the show is deliberate in the way it focuses on Iverson and forces Sophie aside.
#i do tend to think kendall and rava didn't conceive as quickly as they anticipated which is probably why they adopted#my personal headcanon is actually similar to what a coworker of mine irl went through#which was that she had trouble conceiving and as soon as she and her husband started the adoption process they got pregnant#and so they had both and their kids have basically been raised as twins#and call themselves twins even though they're not#(they're like 16 now and they're v cute kiddos)#but yes#also interesting to me that rava is a traditionally masculine name while kendall is gender neutral leaning slightly more feminine#especially when paired with connor roman and shiv which are all pretty masculine or brutalist sounding names#it's fascinating!#look at me feeling my way back into succession meta haha#rava roy#kendall roy#sophie roy#iverson roy#hbo succession#succession asks#welcome to my ama

Title: Carly will never love you.
Summary:
Freddie Benson thought Carly Shay would never return his feelings and the certain words of an old friend keep playing in his head. A mantra. A motto. A binding. Can he get past it?

Freddie was supposed to be the tech guy. The one who put all his hopes and dreams into technology and all the wires that came included. The person behind the camera, ready to talk shop about why processors mattered and so on but never to really be seen or noticed much. The crew guy who was always ready to learn when it came to gadgets and programming.
That's what Freddie knew he was always destined for.
Yet everything in his life would always be redirected to his newly founded source of hope; found at an age that most others would balk at.
Carly.
She was this beautiful virus that rewrote his code one day and he's never been able to reset his heart back to its default state after having known her.
It didn't matter that boys his age usually didn't fall so undeniably in love so fast. It didn't matter that she only saw him as a friend. It didn't matter when people would say:
'Carly will never love you.'
It didn't matter.
That's what no one ever understood. Yes, their words hurt. Especially when they would say this straight to his face or worse, laugh. He wasn't inhuman. He felt all those words.
But love didn't make sense. All Carly had to do was smile and get that twinkle in her eye and he was suddenly in some insane scheme in hopes of just making her happy for another day. They may have just been kids but Carly Shay taught him what love was. He would never forget that.
And Freddie didn't want to break the glass on love but if you didn't already know… Love was unconditional.
So he didn't care if the status of best friend was the best he would ever get. It was all he needed. It would hurt when Carly would fall for some guy but Freddie had long regaled himself to guardian angel status in Carly's life.
Always there to help but never the main focus.
This was called iCarly for a reason.
'Carly will never love you.'
This truth became solidified in his body after Italy. While love was unconditional, Italy was the event that taught Freddie that a heart could still break while feelings pulsed on. He stopped officially chasing her that day. Instead, he took his duties as guardian angel seriously and let his deeper emotions for the angel, Carly pass through him like compliments on a breeze.
Nice to notice from time to time but never meant to go to his head or Freddie lost all sense of self. Now he let the yearning words or impulsions faze through him like a train through the mountainside. The train of Carly Shay and how amazing she always smelled would pass through the mountain. He was the scenic pass through the mountainside. Always a nice view but never an actual stop for Carly.
He had to quit hoping her train would ever notice his stop.
How can you miss something that was never bound to happen?
Especially when he was a gentleman. He never told her how she had shattered him on that trip. Sometimes moments were only meant to be memories. A miracle that they got as close as they did.
A lost wish.
'Carly will never love you.'
This piece of history feels true and blatantly, painfully alive when he gets divorced again. And he's ashamed of his romantic past, marriages and all. He didn't regret any of it but he felt too young to be saying twice divorced already, right? It wasn't exactly a glowing award and let's not talk about his start-ups right now or he might start to think that there was something seriously wrong with him…
And then there was Carly. Still and always a beautiful, successful angel who could give his knees a fall if he didn't place the strong almost impenetrable barriers he had built over the years to ensure their best friend status in each other's life came first. Harper, be damned! Nothing could chip this friendship as long as he was concerned, not even his own asinine ideas.
Or heart.
She had it all and he was happy for her. It was fine if Beau was a focal factor in it. Freddie already had resigned himself to be the wedding cameraman for whatever wedding Carly would inevitably have one day. It would be easier to hide his tears from behind the lens.
He was just grateful for the important part he always played in Carly's life, no matter how busy or hectic either of their lives became.
"In five, four, three-"
'Carly will never love you.'
It seems like such a staple in his life until it's not. Until the whiplash of his life. She liked him; Wanted to date him, even! Holy shit, she was kissing him! And then the final tug at his heart, she loved him. Carly loved him. His best friend loved him back. Nothing and everything seemed real.
Even as she cuddled into his side with a soft smile on her lips. "I still can't believe we actually did it. Everyone knows that we, you know," her eyes flickered in a way that spoke of that slight shyness that they seemed to have attained with their newly-dating status.
Or maybe because she was referring to the words they had yet to say to one another without an audience, live stream or camera placed in their face. It was just them together now.
And nothing could get the stupid grin off his face. "Oh, you mean how we accidentally told everyone and then we did it again on purpose for the second try?" he joked, thinking of how professional he had tried to make the announcement only for it to fall to axed pieces when Carly went all she-wolf on the transmitter for their love.
"And I'd do it again," she passionately declared, having to sit up a bit as she spoke.
And Freddie grinned more, "Yeah?"
"Yeah," she answered, her voice growing soft again. "Because…"
'Carly will never love you.'
He hates that these words return to him then. Even after all these years, those words could tickle his brain and sink him into the past in a blink. He's standing there in their old school for a cold moment but the fear doesn't come and he finds if anything his heart is actually beating faster in anticipation, rather than dread as the past seemed to slip away from his vision and only Carly came into view. Her eyes twinkled in that special way she could that was directed and focused on him. The city noise and his hearing corrected in time for the words he's always waited on.
"I love you, Freddie Benson."
Carly Shay loved him, Freddie Benson.
"Not as much as I love you."
And before she could try and argue it over, he swept forward. He kissed her like he knew she had always been perfect and worth waiting for, even if it got him nowhere. While he couldn't be that sweet puppy that followed her around anymore like when they were kids, he had been willing to go his whole lifetime, not knowing how her love felt as long as it meant he could be someone important to her.
And yet in this moment, he felt just as important to her as she had been to him and he realized he wasn’t going to have to wait but actually be beside her now. He never thought that their relationship could deepen further again as they sunk into each other.
"Uh… Are you all starting to get cold too!?" Spencer yelled to no one in particular.
Oh yeah, and they were still stuck on the roof.
"Do you think there's any more booze up here?" Harper's voice rang out next.
"Maybe if I had remembered the picnic basket…" Carly said after pulling back from their kiss after a small smile was sent Freddie’s way. She got up from their assorted blankets to join the group again by the edge. Private moment over for now.
He watched them strategize about how to get off the roof as he sat up and he wondered how his life came to be this.
So fucking filled with love.
