WIP WHENEVER

I picked something I’ve been working on on and off for like... at least a month? It lives in my head mostly not so much on paper but it’ll get there. Might need a lot of polishing still though...

Lots of talk about scars and how they were got, also drunk driving, we have Fun. Also retri spoilers!

“And this one?”

You both look down to where he’s tracing a scar on your arm, ugly, jagged. Collarbone to elbow. The wound wasn’t very deep, they didn’t want to do any permanent damage. It was still nasty enough. You don’t look up as you speak.

“That was… before?” Take a breath, remember you’re here because you want to be. “It was a warning. To stay in line. I don’t even remember what I did.” It’s only half a lie. You could probably recall it if you tried, but you buried it for a reason.

His grip tightens a little, but there’s nothing but softness to the way he kisses a path down the scar. You briefly wonder where he picked up this self control, before he nudges you, brings you back. It doesn’t matter, anyway.

“My turn?” You even smile as you ask the question. He nods, hand still on your upper arm, thumb brushing the lines of the old wound.

You bite your lip trying to decide. There’s no shortage of scars to choose from, but a lot of them you already know, and some of them you caused, and you don’t want to hear what he has to say about those. Not now, anyway. Finally you settle on a bit of patchy skin above his knee. You can just cover it with the palm of your hand.

Now it’s his turn to look away. He laughs a little, sheepishly.

“I’d hoped you wouldn’t pick that one,” he sounds--ashamed? Now you have to know.

“Tell me anyway.”

He shifts a little, uncomfortable?, scratches his beard, looks up for a second but then kind of looks past you instead.

“It was… a few years ago,” he starts, “five, maybe six. Back when.” A deep breath. “Anyway. I made a lot of bad decisions then, looking back. Took a bet. Got into an accident.” Something’s missing, something he’s leaving out, you know it, but you don’t want to ask. And he rambles on. “Chen was so fucking mad. He told them--the doctors, the PR team, whoever--leave that scar as is, as a reminder. I’ve never… I wonder if he’d cut me a new one if he sees how faded it is.”

The guilt doesn’t match the explanation.

“Ricardo,” you murmur. Enough to stop him talking. To make him look at you in earnest. “Tell me what really happened?”

“I… Look, I was a mess. Bad decisions. I--”

“Ricardo.”

He clenches his jaw, looks away from you. There’s a mostly empty beer bottle on the bedside table. You start connecting the dots.

“How… much did you have?” You won’t say the words if he won’t.

“Too much. Now can we--?”

You don’t let him finish.

“Did anyone get hurt?” You hate the cold of your voice, you hate how this is hurting him, you hate that you have to know first but you have to know.

He shakes his head. “Just me,” he mumbles, “Now please can we--?” He cuts himself off this time, voice too tight to finish the sentence.

Maybe he’s beat himself up enough for this. You pull him into a hug and nod, a kiss against the side of his face.

Rules of the game: Pick an OC and answer the following 7 Qs!

I got tagged by @theblueskyphoenix

As for an OC… Darnit making me choose between all my babies.

I pick my Spider-Verse OC Athena Parker, because I’ve been wanting to do more with her but am on a bit of a “Don’t do anything new until after nano” so… Yeah.

1. Your OC is at a jazz bar when they see a mysterious, alluring dame being pestered by a joe that just won’t let up. What do they do?

She, really wasn’t supposed to be here in the first place. She was just there to make a trade of goods, with a seller because it was cheaper than shipping.

However, she wasn’t about to sit there and watch that happen. The girl stood up, adjusting her gloves, taking aim.

The guy opened his mouth, for another pickup line, when he was silenced by a glob of web across his mouth. He let out a muffled yell of alarm, as he started looking around, expecting New York’s favorite webslinger to be hanging around the bar somewhere.

Athena tapped the woman’s shoulder gesturing for her to sit next to her.

“Thank you… I have no idea where that came from though.”

She smiled.

“Maybe there’s a friendly neighborhood spider chilling around. Root beer?”

“Please.”

2. The world will be destroyed in three days. What does your OC do with their remaining time?

The world, was going to collapse in three days. No one had expected that blasted device, to be recreated in another universe… Let alone a universe full of danger like no other.

“This is going to be tough.” She remarked, looking down at the ruined city, her hair blowing in the wind.

The man beside her, narrowed his eyes, giving her a nudge.

“You wanna sit and wait for the world to die, or get home in time for dinner?”

Athena smirked, pulling down her mask.

“Let’s stop the zombie apocalypse. I wanna punch zombie you in the face.” She gave a thumbs up, showing she had a capsule in one hand. “We can make a cure rain right?”

Peter patted her head, before pulling his own mask down.

“Let’s roll.”

3. Your OC spends the night in a haunted house for a bet, only to realize that the rumours might be true… What do they do?

She hummed a little under her breath, her mind trying to block out any of the noises coming from around her.

Yarn over, pull through, yarn over pull through…

The air around her went cold, as something icy grabbed her shoulder.

“I, swear if you interrupt my counting I’m gonna sock you.” She growled, turning as a large misty apparition shrunk down behind the couch. “That’s what I thought!”

“Boss…” A voice whispered. “What do we do? She just gets mad!”

“Take her dang yarn!”

Athena held up a spray mister, meant for plants.

“You touch my yarn, I cleanse you out of this dimension.”

4. A character your OC cares deeply about has just passed away. How do they handle their grief?

She supposed, it was too good to be true. To believe she’d ever have a full and happy family, where no one was going to disappear from her life.

She sobbed harder, burying her face into a bundle in her arms. His spare suit, his mask… It still smelled like the laundry soap he used for it and baby powder.

MJ was downstairs, dealing with the press but Athena… Athena couldn’t go down there. It was just a reminder, that in the end…

Spider-Man, chose to save her instead of himself.

Dad… Why? Why did you do this to me?

She sat up, slowly staring down at the mask. No more night time runs in their casual clothes, no more sitting up late watching movies while making jokes.

No more dramatic sighing whenever we go to the craft store…

No more tucking me in at night… No more kissing Mom goodbye before patrol…

“You were supposed to be there for me… I’m not ready for this part…. I’m not ready,...” She growled, her voice shaking as she punched the mask down into her mattress. “You were supposed to give me away at my wedding you jerk!”

She sunk down into her bed, curling up.

“You… You were the only one who got what I’m going through…”

Dad….

Please come back.

Please let this be a bad dream I can wake up from…

I need you… I’m scared.

Daddy, I’m scared…

I’m scared of the dark...

5. Your OC walks into a coffee shop. What kind of coffee do they order?

Athena hummed a little, strolling into her favorite shop.

“Ah, if it isn’t the weaver!” The barista laughed. “How hard did your dad’s credit card cry this time?”

Athena grinned, holding up a hefty bag from her favorite yarn store.

“Pretty bad. Can I have a mocha frapp with extra java chips, six pumps of vanilla and caramel?” She asked.

The barista winced.

“Oh… Oh, you are terrible. You want actual coffee in that?”

Athena stuck her tongue out.

“Nope. Give me my overly sugary drink fix please!”

6. Your OC finds themselves in a financial pinch - they need money, and fast. Who do they go to or what do they do to get the dough?

Athena sighed heavily, looking up from her laptop, to the people across the room. Her mother met her eyes, as she shook her head getting up quickly. She wanted no part of this upcoming war.

“Daaaad.” She called, in the most sugary sweet voice she could manage. “How much do you love me?”

Peter didn’t look up from the report he was typing up for the Bugle. “How much is this gonna cost me?”

“Just… a hundred and fifty…”

“For what?”

“Freshly dyed, baby alpaca yarn… and angora in some beautiful shades.” She batted her eyes, trying to get him to look her in the eyes. “I promise, I won’t ask for anything else!”

“Athena… I’m gonna teach you a lesson my aunt May taught me.” Peter looked up at her with a stern look. “I’m not made of money. I’ll drop cash gladly on your yarn that doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg but if you want that really fancy crap, either wait until the holidays or your birthday. Or find a way around it. But I am not dropping that much on new yarn, when you have tons of it upstairs.”

Athena sighed heavily, looking down at the skeins she oh so desperately wanted. She already could imagine the sweaters and shawls she could create from them.

Then… she got an idea… Athena looked up at him, giving another innocent look.

“Dad? Can I have an etsy store?”

“By all means, if it gets rid of the yarn you’re stashing in my spider shed go for it.”

A few days later, Athena was listing batches of Spider-Man related memorabilia on her new etsy store, from jackets to order by commission, to premade little plushies of the famous webslinger… and a few of her own persona.

“You think people really are gonna buy Arachne stuff?” She fidgeted, looking at the tiny plushie in her hands, that resembled her costume.

Peter patted her head, taking it and slipping her a twenty. She looked up at him in surprise.

“I know at least one person who will.” He winked, giving her a grin. “I think I’ll make her my little desk guardian at work.”

Athena giggled, hugging him tightly.

“Love you Dad.”

“Love you too Weaver.”

7. Your OC somehow obtains the ability to time travel. Where do they go, and what do they do?

She was going to stop this. She had been so determined to stop it… she didn’t think about what would happen when she did. She saw her younger self, milling around a shop room, singing under her breath.

Before she had been bitten by a radioactive spider, dropped into her dimension… while it sucked her newly divorced future parent into another.

She had been intending to jump back, to stop the divorce from happening in the first place… but it made her pause.

Her younger self, had been so alone… She had her group home, yes. Her fiber art club at school.

But years of accumulating skills, taught to her by people who had said “we promise this is the last home.” Had hurt…

Arachne stared at Athena, spotting a familiar bright green, blue and black spider crawling along the wall.

Soon, I’m gonna get bit… Then in a few months, Mom and Dad are gonna drop in on my life...

Gosh and I was gonna mess up a good thing I had…

I love my parents… but I know if I stop that, then I stop this.

Then I stop my family from existing…

So, she turned away. She jumped back to her own time, throwing away the device that was letting her make the jumps. Trading her costume, for her favorite dress and jacket, bolting down the streets towards home.

Home, with her room that had the special shelves, just for her ever growing collections of yarn and thread.

Home, with the old school sewing machine her aunt May had left to MJ when she passed.

Home, with her weaving loom and her knitting needles and crochet hooks…

Home…

With her parents.

Aaaaahhhh this was fun, to explore Athena a little bit, since I do wanna do more for my spider gal. For now… This shall be it. This was fun!

Why Did You Choose Your URL: I gotta save this text somewhere it’s easily accessible so I don’t have to keep re-explaining it/searching for old explanations! My first url was lovesetinmotion, which I liked for the Christian life implications. I changed it to dangerously-human after reading The Elephant Man in college. I loved the concept that trying to be “more human” was what killed Merrick in the end. I also liked the ambiguity of “dangerous” - am I so human that I’m fragile, that it’s dangerous to me? Or is my humanity a weapon?

What Did Your Past Relationship Teach You:…….If you’re talking about a romantic one I never had one I’m single since my birth, buuuut if you’re talking about friendship just don’t trust people right away, if you feel like they’re suspicious be friendly but like don’t get involved with them to much, also you’re kinda friends with someone don’t tell them everything about you’re fucking life make sure they’re not a backstabbing or attention seeking little bitch, and for that let me tell you a story, I was a naive 15 almost 16 years old girl I was getting close to a girl that we’re gonna call…mmmmmh, Amber (yes I’m using MCL Amber got a problem with that??? 😂) Because we took the same curricular activity (If we can even call it that ) and I was dumb enough to tell Amber about my crush on a boy that was her friend we’re gonna call him mmmmmmmh….. La'gan (yes YJ season 2 😂) everything was good until the day before my birthday, I was on skype and a guy that I know just wanted to wish me a happy birthday, so we talked and at one point he had to leave but before that he told me “wish you good luck with La'gan” and really I was confused like “I don’t even talk to him how the fuck does he know???” So I interrogated him and asked who told him and obviously it was Amber he also told me that everybody in our year knew, so that pretty much made me dread the next day which was my birthday if I might add, thankfully nothing happened, the day went as usual (minus the P.E teacher singing me a happy birthday like he does with everybody IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE FUCKING SCHOOL) but really I felt really salty I could even say betrayed, so whenever something happens to her And somebody tells me, I take the pop corn and Watch LIKE it’s a fucking awesome comedy movie so that was story time 😂😂😂 sorry about the rant (also the boy didn’t like me back so since then I’m pretty much looking even lower at the way I look (mostly my weight) and at my personality, like I’m not beautiful/ good enough for everybody that I can't even get a relationship when REALLY he was fuckboy like what in the hell was I thinking????)

One thing you wish was canon in a fiction story/fandom?: uuuuuuuuuuuuh really I don’t know maybe Kentin X Alexy in MCL but that won’t happen since Kentin is a LOVE interest and well other than that I don’t know

A book/story/fanfiction you read recently and would recommend (doesn’t have to be fiction): uuuuuuuh well there’s a lot that I like but well the Kaido Kurahana’s books on wattpad (mostly the DC comics related ones) I’m always exited about having a new chapter to read~ 😍. And well there are a lot of really talented people that I read the books of but I don’t remember they’re name 😕, also there’s a book that we had to read for school that I actually enjoyed for a change it’s Bel-ami from Maupassant and also le combat d'hiver by Jean-Claude Mourlevat which is getting a movie~

i also LOVE music, so sorry, im gonna be talking for hours on this ;u;

1. Young And Menace by Fall Out Boy: im sorry guys, i have to be that bitch… I LOVE THE NEW DIRECTION FALL OUT BOY IS TAKING and i honestly have a religious experience every time i listen to the breakdown/chorus of the song. its so dissonant and strange and beautiful and i never thought electronic breakdowns would work in pop punk but here i am, listening to the song on repeat as loudly as i can comfortably stand like im a dragon thats trying to horde burst eardrums

2. rain on me by joji (yes everything of his is in lowercase): im a bit hipstery so of course this song would be here. i love love love lofi hiphop but SO MUCH of the genre is missing that little bit of flavor joji puts into his songs. (im still waiting on the studio version of “i dont need to know”, joji, u better unblock me bitch) but the song is just so… peaceful. it calms you down and makes you feel like you should be sitting in a studio apartment in seattle with a mug of pumpkin spiced coffee as you stare out of a window thats neatly and gently been decorated with raindrops by mother nature while the grey clouds roll past on the horizon past the city skyline

3. Felices Los 4 (Salsa Version) by Maluma ft. Marc Anthony: im a latin bitch, you KNOW a marc anthony song had to be on here. i LOVE this song????? its so fun and has that extra bit of flavor because of marc anthonys vocals and gOD THE BRASS SECTION. i could nut just from those trumpets tbh, its a solid nice poppy salsa song that id love to hear at all the family functions (but @every cuban ever, do NOT overplay it like “Hasta Que Se Seque El Malecón” P L E A S E)

4. Northern Downpour by Panic! At The Disco: i have no idea why but ive just been listening to this every morning for the past few days now. its just… such a good morning song, it really prepares me for the day, it makes me feel so light and airy and positive

5. Ghosts by Michael Jackson: i need to get my funky spooks for the season somehow and this song is a GREAT way to do it. i mean, i LOVE Thriller but this one is just a little more my style this year (and the video has a dancing skeleton, as a huge fan of goofy skeletons, how can i pass that up)

6. Instant Crush by Daft Punk: 7 0 ’ S E L E C T R O N I C F U N K W I T H F R E N C H R O B O T S

7. Glamazon by RuPaul: i feel?????? so sexy listening to this song???? and its so underrated bc everyone LOOOOVES Covergirl and Sissy That Walk but this one gets left behind in the dust a lot :(((

8. Build God, Then We’ll Talk by Panic! At The Disco: such a good autumn song, the music is dark and broody and that enthusiastic, happy lilt Brendon Urie has to his singing that makes everything he says in the song sound so malicious and almost sardonic just MAKES IT

9. Wiped Out! by The Neighbourhood: the neighbourhood has good autumn songs all the time tbh, and this ones been stuck in my head 5ever, plus it sums up my mental health p well

10. A Little Death by The Neighbourhood: sad, autumny, sexy song????? yes please???????
