Yo! I'm going around Tumblr spreading positivity! What's the most positive memory you've got? :)

Not sure about most positive memory of all time, but in recent memory I took the working replica of the Transistor I built to Cosplacon, and entered with it into a cosplay contest. I took first place in the master-class props category and was so overjoyed I was brought to tears, but that wasn’t the best part of the contest. The participants were all seated in a specific order, such that the MC could simply read off a list to make introductions as each cosplayer came on stage in turn, so for several hours I was seated next to the same people. Instantly we were all like old friends, all brought together by our mutual passion for cosplay and the excitement of showmanship. We cheered for one another in the wings and we congratulated each other as we sat down again, and when the judges were making their announcements we squeezed one another’s hands for comfort and support as the anticipation mounted. The best part of this, of course, is that we all return to the same convention every year, so even if we aren’t keeping in touch over social media, we will always see each other again next year at Cosplacon.

I saw this and I wanted to answer the questions but I knew nobody would ask so I just filled it out. On puzzle games I tend to avoid walkthroughs so I can figure things out on my own. In games where I get posed with moral dilemmas and decisions that will impact the 'goodness' of the ending I cling to walkthroughs because I'm afraid of getting it wrong and making the fictional characters suffer. 2: Company you're always loyal to? Gamefreak. Pokémon has been my jam 19 years and counting. 3: Best game you've ever played? Ooooh. That is a tough choice. "Best" and "favorite" are two different things too... Best is gonna be either Skyrim, Pokémon Omega Ruby, or Transistor Favorite will always be Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles 4: Worst game you've ever played? Does this mean "most poorly made" or "least fun to play"? Again it's two different things... Pokémon Viet-Crystal is probably the "most poorly made", it's a rom of a bootleg version of Pokémon Crystal that was translated from Japanese to English by a 3rd party Vietnamese company? The translation is just as terrible and hilarious as you would expect. So poorly made, but fun to play. Gears of War 3 was probably least fun because I really hated the plot... Dom's death was so unnecessary. And it forced player two to juggle characters around in co-op. So well made but not fun to play. Thumbs down. 5: A popular series/game you just can't get into no matter how much you try? Legend of Zelda. I've tried. I've gotten stuck in every single game I've played. I'm not smart enough for LoZ apparently. 6: A game that's changed you the most? Transistor really pushed me into the world of advanced prop-making so probably Transistor... 7: A game you'll never forget? So many. Crystal Chronicles will always be the favorite though. 8: Best soundtrack? Transistor has a really great soundtrack, but I'm gonna have to give this one to Chrystal Chronicles too. Just... the music is all so good and I've played it probably more than any other game. Dang. I do own both full OSTs though. Both very choice. 9: A game you turn your volume off every time you play it? Pokémon GO lol. There is no variety. 10: A game you've completely given up on? LoZ Twilight Princess. I don't even have the Wii anymore sigh. 11: Hardest game you've played? Myst kicked my ass okay. Riven double kicked it. 12: Shortest time you've beaten a game in? I beat Halo: Reach in 8 hours while high on oxycodon after oral surgery. 13: A game you were the most excited for when it wasn't released yet? This doesn't specify if this is just talking about hype level or if the game was a let down so... GoW3 was mad hype for me and I was super let down because the plot was bad and they didn't kill Carmine. I had mad hype too for ORAS and it definitely lived up to my expectations! 14: A game you think would be cool if it had voice acting? Um? Not a lot of games don't? The newer Pokémon games might be kinda cool with voice acting. I do really like the idea of a silent protag though. Especially if they use sign language. But that's venturing into headcanon world. 15: Which two games do you think would make an awesome crossover? HMMM! Pokémon can go with just about anything... it would also be neat yo see most things ported into DnD though I know that's not a video game. 16: Character you've hated most? From what game? I really hated Kaidan from Mass Effect? He kept hitting on me and it was weird and it made me really uncomfortable so I killed him. Easiest choice between two characters I ever made. 17: What game do you never tell people you play? Like I should be ashamed I play a game? I've probably gotten the most flack for playing Neko Atsume. So probably that? 18: A game you wish your friends knew about? LOOK! I KNOW IT'S AN OLD GAMECUBE GAME AND MULTIPLAYER REQUIRES FOUR GBAS AND GBA/GC CONNECTOR CABLES AND THE MULTIPLAYER ISN'T SPLIT SCREEN BUT YOU GOTTA TRUST ME CRYSTAL CHRONICLES IS GREAT! Also Transistor is excellent it's super cheap on steam and sometimes it goes on sale or it's in a humble bundle or something it's great you should buy it and play it. 19: Which game do you think deserves a revival? Final Fantasy: Chrystal Chronicles Time Splitters/Time Splitters 2 Darkwatch 20: What was the first video game you ever played? I wanna say Crash Bandicoot: Warped. My friend had an N64 though and I watched her play the original Banjo Kazooie. 21: How old were you when you first played a video game? Eurgh... maybe 7? 22: If you could immerse yourself in any game for one day, which game would it be? What would you do? Pokémon! I would bet and love and cherish all my steel babies and feed them cupcakes and polish their armor and we'd all go kick noobie butt together. 23: Biggest disappointment you've had in gaming? That I really don't like MMOs. 24: Casual, Hardcore, or in the middle? I am stupid casual. Except at Pokémon. I'll kick your ass at Pokémon. 25: Be honest; have you ever used cheats (like ActionReplay or Gameshark)? Yes, when I was little. I used a Game Shark to make myself invincible in Spyro because I was so bad at it and kept dying. I later went back and beat it 120% so that's kind of redeeming. I also used an Action Replay to give myself a lot of TMs and master balls and stuff in Pokémon Ruby, but I restarted that game and went clean ever since. 26: Handheld or console? Handheld mostly because I won't shut up about Pokémon right? But also Gamecube and PC. 27: Has there ever been a moment that has made you cry? Not that I can remember, sorry. 28: Which character's clothes do you wish you owned the most? Female Selkie Wolfie from FF:CC 29: Which is more important, gameplay or story? Both! Story is great, but if the gameplay is shit then I won't play it (see also everything Bioware has ever made) but same goes for story because if the gameplay is good but the story is godawful I will also hate it (see also GoW3) 30: A game that hasn't been localized in your country that you think should be localized? Ph/an/ta/sy St/ar On/li/ne 2 It's not actually spelled that way but I want to make sure it doesn't show up in the tag because my ex was really into it and I don't want them to see this. It's available in Japanese but not English (yet) and it's the only MMO I would ever consider picking up.

When I'm between big design jobs I get kind of bored at work. I mean I know the little tasks are just as important, but god I don't want to spend the next 40 years running drawings out to substations. I just want to feel like what I'm doing is relevant and meaningful. Sigh.

I'm so ready for L'il Hal to come home on the 12th. He's still buck naked right now, and his case doesn't come in until either Saturday or Monday. I still can't wait. Pics when he arrives.

Holy mo jesus they tested my eyes for pressure and put in a topical anesthetic and holy fuck I can't feel my eyes at all and every time I blink I get a feeling like when you kick your foot when it's asleep. My eye lids are asleep.

Yay I’m near sighted by three half steps (whatever that means) with a five half step stigmatism at 5 degrees. Recommended glasses for outdoor/driving use. Glasses will be ready in about two weeks.
