The idea for a "Thor: Love and Thunder" parody came from Will Herrmann here on Patreon!  He even came up with the "Poor: Love and Wonder" title and suggested I make it about saints who focused on the poor.  I chose to feature St. Clare of Assisi holding up the Blessed Sacrament in the silhouette of her famous mentor, St. Francis of Assisi (note the birds; CLASSIC Francis).
___
JOKE-OGRAPHY: St. Clare was a young noble woman who heard St. Francis speaking one day and decided to run away from her family and join his religious order, which concerned itself with living lives of radical poverty and simplicity.  She ended up writing rules for her fellow female religious, making sure they adhered as close to the teachings of her spiritual father figure than those of other orders that were trying to impose their own standards.  After Francis passed away, there's a story that says Clare repelled an invading army from her city simply by holding the Sacrament out and praying, after which the army fled without attacking.

Today is the ninth day of the Novena in honor of #StClareofAssisi. Let us pray.
+ In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. AMEN
⚫INVOCATION
O most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we praise your Holy Name and the wonders of grace you worked in your servant, Saint Clare. Through her powerful intercession grant us the favors we beg in this novena, above all the grace to live and die as she did in your most Holy Love. Amen.
Day 9 (August 10)
Gracious Saint Clare,
who fulfilled your womanhood by a life of love in prayer and penance, help us to fulfill our destiny that we may one day greet you in Heaven. You who were consoled at your death
by a vision of Christ and His Mother, obtain for us the grace that we may die under the special protection of God and enter into the life and bliss you now enjoy. Have pity on us who struggle, on us who mourn, and win for us the favors of God
so that after this life we may come home to Him who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.
⚫CLOSING PRAYER
V. Pray for us, Saint Clare.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us Pray:
We Pray You, Lord, Grant us Your servants who celebrate the festival of Blessed Clare your Virgin, by her intercession, to be partakers of the joys of heaven and coheirs with Your only-begotten Son, Who being God, lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.

In the thirteenth century, additional scenes and notable alterations were made to the iconography of Jesus’ Passion narrative, which had hitherto been fairly standard in the medieval world; stylistic variations had been the greatest discrepancy between various cycles. Adjustments to The Betrayal, The Trial, The Mocking, and The Way to Calvary and the inclusion of the nascent images, The Stripping of Clothes and The Ascent Up the Cross, were added to artworks associated with the newly-established Franciscan Order around 1240. These alterations became commonplace in frescoes, altarpieces, and historiated crosses commissioned for Franciscan and Clarisan houses and illustrated Christ as emblematic of the core Franciscan values of humility, poverty, and a willingness to die for the faith. For instance, in these scenes, Jesus was depicted as weak and susceptible in settings where he had previously been shown to exhibit a stoic response to the events of his Passion. Such subtle characterizations became standard in all images and continued to promote the fundamental message of the redemption that Jesus gained through his death and resurrection, yet they altered Jesus’ response, emphasizing his frail human nature.
This emotive portrayal paralleled burgeoning Franciscan thought in duecento Italy and influenced contemporaneous artworks. Specifically, scenes in the Upper Church of the Basilica di San Francesco in Assisi, attributed to Giotto and his workshop, narrate The Legend of St. Francis. Their proximal location - the second bay in the southern nave wall is one example - and compositional resemblance to scenes from Jesus’ life link them inextricably to the events and sentiments of the New Testament narrative, but most specifically, Jesus’ Passion. The Stigmatization of St. Francis and St. Clare Embracing the Body of St. Francis at the Convent of San Damiano are two poignant examples, recalling the Crucifixion and the Virgin Mary’s lamentation.

Pope said “if you can’t go to confession, take your sorrows directly to God.” And the Protestant church says “Amen” One major difference that I see with our Catholic friends (and I was a catholic myself so I get it) is that God is too busy for you and he needs to employ third party agents to help him, these third party agents consist of both of the living and the dead, you can confess your sins to a living agent of God like a priest, monk or pope, now if you need anything more specific like resolving foot problems then you would be encouraged to ask a dead saint from the foot problem Dept and that would be St. Servatus, what if you need good weather? Then you would have to ask St. Clare Of Assisi. If this sounds like a spiritual bureaucracy it’s because it is, and this isn’t specifically a catholic issue but a human issue, before Christianity people prayed to specific gods for specific things like if they wanted a good harvest they would pray for the god of rain but they would not pray for that same god for medical needs, in the Protestant community people will travel from afar to see a preacher who has “healing” abilities or would ask a famous preacher to pray for his family instead of asking his pastor or his church elders, as if that famous preacher has a “fast pass” to God’s ear. This is probably the first and last time I’m going to say this, take the pope’s advice and take your sorrows directly to God. In case you’re wondering I got the list of patron saints from catholic.org #catholic #popefrancis #protestant #stclareofassisi #stservatus https://www.instagram.com/p/B-XyHteF8oF/?igshid=1jmd15darwmb0

Today is the eighth day of the Novena in honor of #StClareofAssisi.
Amen.
Day 8 (August 9)
Valiant Saint Clare,
who fearlessly stood alone against the barbarous Saracens, trusting in the Blessed Sacrament as your only protection,
enkindle in us a tender love for Jesus Christ; help us to live Eucharistic lives. You who saved your city of Assisi from plunder and ruin, protect our city and archdiocese, plead for our beloved country and the suffering world. A voice from the Sacred Host rewarded your trust with a promise: "I will always take care of you." Glorious Saint Clare, from your high place in Heaven, take care of us now in our earthly needs and guide us by your light to Heaven.
Amen.

"We become what we love and who we love shapes what we become. If we love things, we become a thing. If we love nothing, we become nothing. Imitation is not a literal mimicking of Christ, rather it means becoming the image of the beloved, an image disclosed through transformation. This means we are to become vessels of God's compassionate love for others." #stclareofassisi Today is the feast day of St. Clare of Assisi, the female social revolutionary who followed and supported St. Francis. I am not a catholic by faith, but I believe that extraordinary individuals, no matter their believes have lessons we can learn by studying their lives. St. Clare, otherwise known as Clairmesine Clairmeille, was an individual who believed utterly in the power of Love and the ability to forgive. Her Saint day is usually referred to as the Feast of Forgiveness. She urges of to forgive those who have wronged us, to let go of grudges that are holding us back. To start living life truly free from the pain and suffering of the past. On that note, I recommend that you try to let go of something that is holding you in place, that is keeping you from moving forward tonight. To forgive, doesn't mean we forget, it just means that we let go of that pain and suffering. That we don't let that sorrow keep us from living our lives to the fullest. #wisdom #stclare #saints #forgiveness #compassion #thebeloved #lover #divine #light (at Hollywood)
