Dr. Brian Harold May receiving the Stephen Hawking STARMUS medal for Science Communication (featuring the Red Special!) is not just an awesome thing, it's a very prestigious honor and an important step forward in expanding our knowledge of the universe.
The James Webb telescope, the restored photographs of the moon landing, there's so much we're only just discovering. Yes, the prolific scientists we already know are a valuable source of knowledge, but it's people like Brian May who will inspire a new generation to take interest in the world around and above them.
I've been lucky enough to speak with him on many occasions, so I may be a little biased in being so excited, but through him, I've discovered the beauty of stereoanagraphs, and with every little bit of work he does, he shows us just how unique and wonderful our universe truly is.

On July 1st, 2016, Sarah performed at the "Sonic Universe Concert" as part of the Starmus Festival III, at the Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. Sarah performed an abridged version of her Dreamchaser concert, and was joined by tenor Mario Frangoulis, and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra conducted by Paul Bateman. Attendees and honorees included Hans Zimmer, Chris Hadfield, Stephen Hawking, and Brian May.

“Buzz is the author of 9 books, most recently his children’s book, Welcome to Mars: Making a Home on the Red Planet and his newest NY Times and Washington Post Bestseller, “No Dream Is Too High: Life Lessons from a Man Who Walked on the Moon”. Both published by National Geographic.
In October of 2014 he revamped his ShareSpace Foundation to be focused on STEAM Education - Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math to ignite the spark and fuel excitement for space in kids –Specifically for K-8. In August of 2015 he launched the Buzz Aldrin Space Institute at Florida Tech to promote and develop his vision of a permanent human settlement on the planet Mars.”

17. 5. 2024 (ráno)
den d je tu, jenom se vyspím, napíšu zápočet, a pak přijde chvíle, kdy se rozhodne jestli mi je souzená dráha skutečně renesančního člověka...ačkoliv vím, že všechno nejspíš vyjde, svědomí mi nahlodává myšlenka, že jestli se to nepovede, skončí tak můj sen o práci v laborce už navždycky...
asi bych se přesto přenesla o trochu snáž, kdybych si nenaplánovala tisíc různých možností, jak dál, jenom abych včera zjistila, že moje fakulta tak nějak počítá s tím, že bych pokračovala ve svém oboru na magistra na ní a navazovala na svou bakalářskou rešerši literatury...
na jednu stranu jí to nemám za zlé, kdo by byl čekal, že osoba dokáže přejít za pět měsíců studijního pobytu od naivního obdivu disciplíny ke stockholmskému a imposter syndromu, a navíc zrovna, když má jedinečné postavení z hlediska svého studijního zájmu...
ale někdy si i přes svůj zájem prostě člověk s oborem nejdou do noty, mezinárodní vztahy jsou rigidní a ověnčeny neustálou "cyklicitou", s každou minutou jejich studia se cítím jako sisyfos valící kámen, který je možná důležitý, ale o kterém nikdo neuslyší, dokud nedosáhnu vrcholu lemovaného skupinkou odborné i široké veřejnosti, která mi lije pod nohy olej a směje se mé blbosti...
cítím se vyčerpaná a dost k ničemu...
zároveň mám po úterní starmus přednášce pocit, že právě přírodní vědy skrývají opravdu to, co už tak dlouho hledám, nejen laborku, ale i schopnost lidi spojovat, a to jak napříč kontinenty, tak i mezigeneračně, něco co mezinárodní vztahy sice zvládnou hravě popsat a nabídnout cesty, jak toho docílit, ale nedokáží to dodnes proměnit v realitu.
dnes je den d, den doufání, den n, naděje, den e, existenční krize, a snad taky den splněných snů
dnes je dnes a dnes snad bude i zítra
tak na dnes!
