Last week I came across something while I was checking my references for Queen in Cornwall... remember this photo from the back of Queen I album? We didn't know if it was Roger, or Freddie, and I was actually convinced it was John...

Then randomly I found this - from Jim Jenkins who was in Cornwall (with the Queen fanclub I think) for the Queen in Cornwall book launch. He mentioned the person in this picture was in fact Freddie. And these guys actually hunted down the exact spot of the photo which was in Devoran, where Queen rented a cottage in their early tour in Cornwall...

11 Feb 2013:

Gary (Taylor) and I with Rupert (White) on an exciting find. We were in Devoran where Queen rented a cottage for their first ever tour. Theres a pic of Freddie on the back of Queens debut album in the area and we found the exact spot where he had the photo taken. it looked exactkly the same as on the album, incredible. Thanks Rupert for such an interesting tour. Gary and I have become good friends. Our passion for the history of Queen is remarkable. Wish we could have both been around at this time of Queens history. The beginning. As it began!

Is this finding 100% accurate? I can't fully guarantee! Rupert said on his blog that he didn't think it was the exact spot (but I don't think they'd be far off anyway) lol. But given the sources being subject matter experts I'd say it's a hell lot better than knowing next to nothing about it. > 90% confidence perhaps? Pretty good to me!

Being aroace is so cool, but so, so hard sometimes. Watching all the persons you hold dear finding *their* person. Grieving the idea of an allo relationship. Realizing that, maybe, somehow, you're the second choice fo everyone. Because friends are great, but **lovers** are the goal in our society.

Most of the time, i am sooo happy to be aroace. And then, when im alone in bed, at 3 am, i find myself crying by fear of being alone.

And I think it's normal. It's grieving a certain way of thinking. And it's hard, especially when you were raised this way, and that everyone keeps doubting your identity.

So yeah. Shout-out to all the aroace people, wanting a deeper connection, without wanting romantic love.

oooooooh anon, now this IS a controvercial question.

I do, actually. I don't think it lasted very long, it probably faded away through familiarity, and i'm certainly NOT saying he pined for his bandmates through his adult life, but a small crush, in the beginning when Smile were this amazing band on stage and Freddie was their big fan and tellng them how to be better and getting close to them and working hard to impress them so they made a band together, I reckon he had a thing for one of them.

Now to really get controvercial....

Mary was a rather sleight looking woman with nice big eyes and a gorgeous smile (not that we see it much in the photos ahem ahem) and blonde, and a great fashion sense from what I can see. And when Freddie wasn't quite sure of, or at least confident about his sexuality, that was the type of woman he went for...

And I'm not saying anything specific here but Roger... had a great fashion sense too.

And that's all i'm saying.

i love mutual pining to lovers because it gives some of the vibes of a love triangle without the needless drama. alternatively it’s like a love triangle except the third person is just mutual stupidity.

This isn’t commonly known but one of the rings of hell is actually being in a fandom wherein the popular bloggers have the worst opinions known to man that everyone else parrots

What other bands do you like other than Queen?

I'm genuinely one of those people who like a bit of everything and I've bounced from intense fanship of multiple bands over the years so, with that in mind, and this is not an exhaustative list....

The Beatles Genesis Starship Simon and Garfunkel The Bangles Bananarama Deep Purple Oasis Westlife (yes, I know) S Club 7 The Corrs McFly (up to Above The Noise) Jellyfish Bowling for Soup The Shires You said bands but I have to mention KT Tunstall and Meatloaf as well.

Since you’re open to asks: when do you think Brian and Roger have been closest and when least close?

Ooooh. Now this could get controvercial.

So let me start by saying, I think, like all friendships, theirs has weathered and waned and come back over the years but least closest still means they are or were friends, but other friends and relationships were a higher priority.

Closest, probably when they first met, smile, and into early queen days. Then late 80s into the 90s as Freddie's health waned (I'm thinking of that GMTV interview where they say the they've been a great help to each other), and now. Particularly now. Especially because Brian now apparently lives in the countryside somewhere near Roger not London so travelling to see each other is probably easier.

Least close: Early 80s. Late 90s.

But maybe i'm wrong.
