I was talking to one of my friends who is a casual Jancy shipper and one of her biggest reasons for believing Jancy will be endgame is that they were set up since day one.
Shouldn’t the whole they were set up since day one argument be irrelevant at this point since on day one Steve was supposed to die. Now that he’s still here and his whole story has changed from what it was going to be I think Jancy is far from a guarantee.
Look at Steve and Robin. They were going to be an endgame couple when they first started writing season 3 but things changed.
Just referencing early seasons is selling the writers short. So much has happened since then and the characters and their relationships have grown and are not the same as they were then.
The point is I won that argument and Stancy is endgame lol

that reunion scene where jancy is hugging and the camera focuses on steve shortly after is a great way to indicate where the path will go next season tbh.
during season four, jonathan and nancy were apart until the very end, and meanwhile nancy was finally able to interact with other characters throughout the season and lead the group for once. we could finally see more of her outside the jancy bubble they had going on for the past seasons where they were always together. she realized her feelings for steve were growing back and she also managed to see his own growth as a better person, shown to the audience when she defends steve from jonathan's comment at the very end. so many of these scenes feel like if they aren't meant to be endgame, just don't make sense.
nancy is also shown barb at steve's pool as a bad memory, but she also is able to make new friends since that happened in season one such as robin. nancy is finally moving on from that trauma and making new friends, and steve is finally able to be the person he needed to be back in season one for nancy but couldn't due to his friendships and bad influences. nancy wasn't able to make new friendships until this last season when she was away from jonathan. her opening up to new friends just indicates she's getting over the barb trauma.
they both have grown a lot, and them getting back together wouldn't be character regression for this exact reason. it would only be if they didn't change at all.

maybe I'm just an overly confident idiot, but I'm 100% convinced that stancy is endgame. the "you've always been there" the "I'm right here" the constant parallels THE "UNAMBIGUOUS sign of true LOVE" c'mon

I have a lot of crap to say about stancy. I love it, and I feel like people completely forget that Steve loves her, still does. They try so hard to believe he doesn't but he does! Season1 = they were dating season2= dated for around 2 episodes before breaking up yet Steve literally said nancy was special and different. Season3 = there's not much but in the bathroom with Robin, Steve says he doesn't like nancy anymore. Um..yall rlly believed that? Steve clearly loved Nancy that season he was just trying to move on, he couldn't. Season4, oh don't get me started, Jonathan is a walking red flag in season 4. Nancy could've flew to california with Mike, she didn't. They both lie to eachother too, at the end. Nancy says, "he's matured a bit, hasn't he?" to Jonathan since he was 'insulting' Steve. (I'm not sure if that was the exact line but I couldn't care less). She defended Steve and when they met AFTER A YEAR he literally kissed her forehead. Like what? Bae A YEAR without ur gf and u kiss her forehead only. No this isn't working for me. And his bestfriends wants him to cut nancy off himself 💀 anyways back to stancy, they have a lotttt of sexual tension in season 4, don't get me started, I was running laps around my apartment. The chemistry is right infront of us. Steve loves Nancy, and Nancy could possibly love him back? Jancy is just, not working. Seasons 1,2 and some of 3 was their seasons but stancy, is season 4 and hopefully season 5. Praying for a stancy endgame

i know this could be said the other way round but; stranger things is giving me hunger games vibes.
Nancy as Katniss
Steve as Peeta
Jonathan as Gale
If it is build on the idea on shared trauma that is, like yes Nancy has shared experiences with Jonathan but season 4 was much more serious than the previous three, while Jonathan was out there aware of what was going on but not to the extent it was she was in a full fledged battle. Steve has been there for her, heck he's been in the upside-down many times when Jonathsn hasn't gone down even once, Steve's been through more with her, loved her when she didn't love him, while also having a deeper connection on another level. Let's not forget Katniss still got to be a strong independent women at the end despite marriage and kids, just afraid of future pain from her past. They both fought because they had to not because they wanted to.
(PS. Jonathan may wind up killing Mike because of how he is silently hurting Will and he's a protective big brother, while yk Gale killed Prim however that was an accident.)

let's talk about the actual misogynistic ending for nancy which would be ending the show with jonathan.
the first misogynist decision the writers made was making nancy forgive jonathan for the creepy pictures he took of her. jonathan watched steve and nancy through his window room, saw that nancy was undressing and decided to take a photo with his camera. then nancy starts dating him at the end of season 2. jonathan never thought what he did was wrong. he apologized once under pressure when nancy brought the pictures up calling him out, but then he proceeded to take his weak apology back and insult her saying she'll end up like her parents for dating steve. and they didn't even know each other in that scene.
then we have season three where jonathan was the more misogynist he could be. jonathan and nancy worked together their dream jobs and their bosses were so sexist towards nancy. jonathan witnessed everything and decided to just mind his business. i mean if his girlfriend was suffering in front of him you'd expect him to at least comfort her. he just tells her something about forgetting it. nancy decided to pursue a story she believed in meanwhile jonathan was telling her to just drop it since the bosses once again made fun of her for it. jonathan was being exactly like the bosses. he only wants to go with her when she says she'll go alone then 🤡. and even after that, once again jonathan ignores her and her story until will is mentioned. not to mention jonathan telling her to suck the misoginy up.
jonathan's character will always prioritise his family aka will and joyce. and that's fine. but he shouldn't be in a relationship where the other person deserves to be a priority too. steve's priority has always been nancy. he changed for her. he was a jerk in high school but he started to become a better person over time and now we can clearly see he deeply cares about other people and has grown, has made new friendships that truly help him improve and he finally can admit to have feelings for someone. steve wanting a family is not misogynistic. nancy ending up with steve makes perfect sense and if you don't get then i'm sorry for you but please keep quiet because these takes are getting ridiculous.

Steve was such a bad boyfriend. Remember when he let Nancy get bullied at work, took pictures of her without her consent, lied about their future together, decided not to visit her on spring break, was relieved when she didn’t show up to visit him and wanted to slow motion break up with her? Oh wait, that was Jonathan.

Nothing about Steve in season 4 is badly written. Steve has had the best personal growth story in the whole show and whether you like it or not it all started with Nancy.
Steve wanting kids is not out of character since he has become the designated babysitter and protector of the group. He is always the first one to go into the danger and the last one out of it. He also mentions his parents are never there and he’s alone a lot. It makes sense an only child would want a big family.
Steve still loving Nancy may not have been in the original plans for the show but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t make sense and is bad writing. Steve telling Robin he didn’t love Nancy could have easily been a lie or could have just been Steve being in denial. Steve kept denying his feelings for Nancy in the beginning of season 4 when Dustin called out his feelings so it is easily explained and still makes sense.
Steve realized he was an asshole and wanted to change because he was inspired by Nancy to be a better person. He told his friends “she’s not an asshole she actually cares about people.” He dumped his asshole friends because of this and made real friends in Dustin and Robin who helped him become selfless and less superficial. None of which would have happened if Nancy didn’t inspire him and Steve thanking her for giving him a thump on the head shows how much more mature he is now than he was in season 1.
It’s not character regression to still be in love with the person that turned your life around. It wouldn’t be regression if Nancy loves him back because it would have never happened in the first place without all the character growth Steve has gone through.

I am desperate for a season 5 scene where Nancy tells everyone she can still feel Vecna in her head and Steve, who knows why Vecna was able to get in her head in the first place becomes the first person to finally tell Nancy that Barb’s death wasn’t her fault. I need him to explain that they were just dumb kids that could never be expected to know what was out there that night. He needs to put the blame on Vecna but tell her if she was going to blame anyone else it should be him. Of course Nancy will dispute this and tell him she was Barb’s best friend so she should have made sure she was okay. Steve will tell her if she thinks it’s her fault then it has to be his too since it was his party, his pool and his house. Nancy won’t have a comeback to that but she will stubbornly say it’s not his fault and he will stubbornly say then it’s not hers either. She will start tearing up because she will finally believe its not her fault and then Steve and Nancy give each other a big teary eyed clingy hug and it’s Nancy’s turn to thank Steve for helping her.

STANCY VOLUME 2 OUTLOOK! READ BELOW GIFS!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright.. Stancy’s. Here we go. Deep dive for volume 2.
So we start where Volume 1 left off. Nancy is trapped by Vecna but makes it out. When she comes back she falls, Steve catches her and takes her to ground carefully. She cries and is in full panic, not even blinking. Steve attempts to calm her “ It’s okay. I’m right here. I’m right here…” The writers insert that line stating that Steve is here…now with Nancy. This foreshadows Jonathans line at end of the season when talking with Nancy, “Sorry I wasn’t here” STEVE WAS
Next Scene is a big one on the drive in the RV. Steve and Nance share a conversation with Steve sharing his dream in life to her. He states “ I always had this dream that I’d have this really…really big family, I’m talking about a full brood of Harringtons like five or six kids.” Nance laughs and replies “six!?” It shows the playfulness and perkiness they’ve had the whole season. Steve replies “Yeah. I figured all of us Harringtons would pack into something like this and explore the country. Nancys reaction is full of curiosity and happiness. She can’t take her eyes off Steve. He finishes by stating “Live in the sand, find a small town in California, learn to surf or something.” Nance looks to him and says” That sounds nice..” The writers give Steve a look of surprise but very hopeful. “Yeah? She smiles and replies “Yeah.” We then get a second of them again staring lost into each others eyes before Nancy states 6 kids is a bit of a nightmare. Steve signals to the back of the RV and says “If only I’ve had some practice” Nance laughs and says that’s fair. They look again to each others eyes before this time, Steve breaks contact while Nancy continues to stare at him…thinking. This really shows how much the kids mean to Steve. And Nancy is beginning to see how much he has changed. She admires it.
Next is in the Trailer back to the upside down. Steve heads right for the rope and climbs in. He takes the lead. He does a flip and lands on his feet. The directors then give us an interesting camera shot where Robin and Nancy stand next to each other. Robin states “Does he want us to applaud?” Nancy actually has an impressed look on her face with a smile, before Robin delivers the line. Next Nancy enters and lands on the mattress. Steve helps her up and they get inches from each other. Steve looks into her eyes the whole time while Nancy looks between his eyes and lips before Steve moves her along. (Glad the kiss didn’t happen here as it will mean more later and didn’t want Steve to be accused of being “The other Guy” and Nancy a “cheater.”) AGAIN they could have entered the upside down in any order but the duffers leave us with STANCY. They give us that moment for a reason. I firmly believe Steve and Nancy would not have shared that moment had Eddie, Dustin or Robin been in there with them.
Finally we get the scene in the woods. Robin runs ahead leaving Steve and Nancy on there own. This is one of the most playful scenes we’ve had between the two since season one and the writers and directors make sure we see it. Steve explains how he always moved backwards instead of forward. They have some funny back and forth kinda mocking one another and then Steve stops and says “I guess what I’m trying to say in a weird roundabout way.. is thank you.” Nancy is taken back and replies, “Thank Me?- He then replies “For giving my head the biggest bump of its life two years ago.. The directors then show Nancy’s reaction which is full of regret.. We get this on purpose. Steve moves away until Nancy catches up, still not saying anything since his comment. Steve says “Now I’m moving forward…slowly.” Again another reaction shot of Nancy hurting. He then says he thinks he and her would have made it had he been hurt by another girl first. Nancy doesn’t know what to reply knowing she’s still in a relationship. Steve then proceeds with one of the biggest Stancy moments of all time.. He says “ You remember that dream I told you about? Nancy stops and is wide eyed. Fully invested in what he’s saying. “The winnebago, seeing the country my six little nuggets..” Nancy smiles MAJORLY and lets out a little affirmative chuckle. Steve continues “it’s all true. every word.” Nancy continues to watch him not blinking not taking her eyes off him.. “I left one part out. The most important part.” We then see Nancy’s eyes begin to well with tears.. (Yes Tears 😭 Check it) “You’re there…” Her eyes widen.. He then takes a moment before stating, “You’ve always been there.” She takes it all in. She looks to the floor.. Dealing with many feelings she can’t find the words… (Currently dating Jonathan still in her mind) She begins to open her mouth when.. They are interrupted by Robin. The duffers could have easily ended the whole thing there. It could have gone two ways… 1) Nancy says Steve we can’t or I don’t feel the same way. Which ends the whole thing or.. 2) She begins to have a real conversation about the whole thing with her acknowledging her feelings for him.. but instead we get Robin to interrupt this before anything is said on Nancy’s side… Steve puts all the cards on the table in case one of them doesn’t make it out of this suicide mission. He had to tell Nancy how he feels… Season 5 will be Nancy’s turn..
Finally.. (Small One) Jonathan talks to Nancy as they board up Hoppers House. Jonathan states “I’m glad you were here.” Othwise who would have been in charge? Steve?” He tries to throw a jab and MISSES BADLY. The duffers again could have just had Nance laugh this off as a small joke or simply say “Right” but instead she delivers a huge line for the future of Stancy . She takes her eyes off Jonathan and says “ He’s actually grown up quite a bit, you know?” And then to end it all he lies again about college…
The future is bright for Stancy. The looks and glances they share are undeniable and there are still feelings for each other for both of them. Then throw in Jonathan continuing to lie.. Stancy S5.. Here we come. Let me know your thoughts!
Any scene between Steve and Nance in season 5 will be really interesting with Steve having put all of his feelings on the line. I look forward to seeing it all play out.
