Aaargh, the last thing I need is MORE story ideas, but I recently fell asleep listening to a book recap podcast and now I can't stop thinking about a Kate/changeling!Osgood/human!Osgood AU:

Osgood 1: A changeling left behind in the crib, she was quickly discovered but her family never figured out how to trade her back. The closest they've come to accepting her is to rent her out to various other people as a scientific curiosity, or, as she grows older, for her skill as an artificer. When the war with Fairy comes to a head, they send her as tribute to...

Kate: The warrior queen who's been uniting various kingdoms under her banner to present a united front to the fey forces that have terrorized humanity for centuries. She wouldn't be above taking a pretty piece of tribute to bed if they were willing, but Osgood is so clearly terrified that it's out of the question. Still, she's not going to ignore the political benefits of having a changeling hostage, from her skill as an artificer to the message it sends to have one of the enemy collared and chained to her throne, where she can casually card her fingers through her hair as she cuts generals and former kings down to size. The collar of course is a new one--she destroyed the old one made of iron that was causing Osgood 1 so much pain, and she removed any iron in the areas of her castle that Osgood frequents, from her bedchamber to the richly appointed workshop she's ordered for her. Still, the loneliness Osgood must feel tugs at her heart, so she arranges for a companion...

Osgood 2: Taken to the land of Fairy as an infant, she has spent her entire life in servitude to the capricious nobles of the land. When she is liberated in a human raid, her joy at reuniting with her human family turns sour when they realize that all the odd things about Osgood 1 they assumed were due to her fey heritage, are actually just a part of who Osgood actually is, faithfully copied. When the queen summons her to serve as a second artificer (and secretly also basically as basically an emotional support animal to Osgood 1), Osgood is relieved to have an excuse to leave again, even as she navigates an unfamiliar court, a skittish counterpart who flinches if a human moves too quickly, and her own attraction to the powerful and ruthless queen.

Anyway, yadda yadda yadda, Osgoods 1 and 2 gradually build trust between each other, they figure out they have a little bit of a telepathic link, they cuddle and kiss a bit and are super naive and inexperienced and basically "oh, that feels good, let's do more of that" themselves into a sexual relationship, Kate walks in on them one time, things develop from there
