The whole "Hunter hates Crosshair" hot(dogshit)-takes I've been seeing are so boring and one-dimensional, they completely ignore the nuances of emotion and relationships, especially deep, long-term relationships. In this TED-Talk, I will...

Madame Web - spoiler-free
So, today me and my Son went to see Madame Web
Tumblr media
and both of us knew more than half of the Internet hates thus. And being comics nerd I was baffled. " So this old blind woman who is paralyzed in comics is played by...young ablebodied seeing Dakota Johnson?"
But let's give it a chance.
It began slow and boring and the dialogue is awful and sticking there the main bad guy? In my youth I watched loads of italowesterns and Hong Kong kung fu movies that were dubbed better. It is not a little off, it is on another continent altogether.
And like the trailer showed he looks
Tumblr media
I know It's like Craigslist Amazon (not-quite-spiderperson) or wish suit that will not get litigated because Sony has the rights. They are not going to sue themselves.
There are huge HUGE plotholes. And most effects got a call from early 2000s. You know the drunken ex call.
The money they saved was put in I guess rights to play Toxic by Britney Spears.
It really has these flaws.
And I loved it.
No sarcasm or irony. Really. I smiled. The comics nerd in me had joyous laughter. See I do not care if you like the sixties Adam West Batman or Monica Vitti Modesty Blaise. Those are travesties An insult to comics and their creators. I see nothing good in them. And I am wysiwyg, my personality does Not change between real life and internet. Somehow with all those immense faults the movie won me over.
I turned to my Son, who loved it too. Also as confused by this.
Tumblr media
It will flop. They will talk about superhero oversaturation etc but I honestly want to see it again. I do not want to see Morbius ever again, that started better than expected but decided to piss everything and then some away. Yet even that shitstorm is lightyears ahead of aforementioned Batman & Modesty Blaise " films". This is by same writers as Morbius. Wild.
Most will hate it.
And some will say, sure you are aging toxic cishet man who just drooled over all the girls in this. Again you can think what you want, me don't mix movies and porn I don't give a shit what your sexuality is most movies but bait there, unnecessary nudity and cheesecake / abs for no reason except for the bait.
That said besides mainly wooden Dakota Johnson highlights were Sydney Sweeney.
Tumblr media
And I very much enjoyed Adam Scott's performance. Chef's Kiss.
Really not for everyone. But I enjoyed it. And I will buy the Bluray

FINALLY got to sit down and listen all the way through System Collapse and aaaaaAAAH (positive). Murderbot absolutely never fails to be a delight. I am always a little nervous starting into the next book of a series, because we all know how easy it is for things to go haywire and suddenly your favorite series just went down the drain. but nope, this one is EXACTLY AS GOOD AND BETTER than all that came before! gods I love these books.
(and is it just me, or do they just get more and more quotable the further along they go?)
anyway I have Very Many Thoughts which I may or may not share, idk yet. I purchased the audiobook, but I also have the ebook off my e-library (because the audiobook is genuinely fantastic, but also my audio processing can be shit sometimes so having that to refer to is useful) and I have highlighted certain little quotes and I shall probably toss those up with my reactions in particular, we'll see.
...although I did make the mistake of leaving my music app on shuffle and it jumped to Chapter 5 after Chapter 1 and I did not notice somehow and accidentally spoiled myself a little for [redacted]. which was unfortunate. I am sad that I did not get to experience the tension of not knowing. but oh well, it was brilliant anyway, and that wasn't too far along so eh, it's not like it was a major spoiler. I didn't pick up on anything else plot-relevant either, so once again, not a problem.
(which is worth noting, actually, because this is another reason why these books are good: I can and have listened to them over and over, and whether or not you know what's going to happen it absolutely does not matter, it is still good every time. good writing, y'all, good writing.)
anyway! I imagine the fandom is in the position where everyone who can get their hands on the book and the time to read/listen to it has already done so or is in the progress of doing so/waiting on copies/etc., but if you're hesitant or haven't yet, I highly encourage you to do so. <3

Persona 3 Reload is a good jumping-off point for new players
The following is a script of my 5-minute review of this game for Late Night Video Game Music on Radio KLFM. Persona 3 Reload follows you as an unnamed protagonist starting at a new school. But mysteriously, you are witness to what is known as the “Dark Hour”, a strange 25th hour, where phemonemons called Shadows rule the night. Your new dorm happens to be home to the Specialised Extracirricular…

Episode 4, No Spoilers
I'll probably post a review with spoilers later tonight, give people some time to watch the episode.
Last episode, while far from perfect, was good for what it was! The story was coming together, it had some amusing/good moments, and I didn't hate it...continuity errors aside. This episode, the writers seem to be losing their grip, which was tenuous to begin with, on the story they're trying to tell.
And, once again, I'm (not seriously) wondering if the writers are surfing Tumblr or reading fanfics, because some of the things in this episode are familiar! Like, 'did they steal that idea???' familiar. No, I'm sure they didn't, but this is probably the third coincidence of that nature I've seen.
It was good to see Sandman, and he, at least, was on point!

The Marvels is a good film
It's been a while since I had this much fun watching an MCU movie. The recent ones are fine... We all experience super heroes movies fatigue and Marvel/Disney has shit ton of problems. But The Marvels actually feels well-rounded. There are so much chemistry between the cast and the whole film is wholesome. I genuinely enjoy the characters' interaction. The ending is what Ant-man & The Wasp could have done but failed.

The Marvels - spoiler-free
So, today went to movies with my Son to see
Tumblr media
And like I said to cinema cashier ( when she warned that people were coming out of 3D viewing and thus might talk spoilers about it) I have been reading these comics for 30 years ( well actually over 49 years, but let's not make me feel old grumpy guy) so fat chance.
This is Marvel science ficton adventure that moves relatively fast. And it expects the audience have seen MCU movies and series. All of them.
It is not as good as Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 and it is nowhere as bad as frail internet male defendera say.
It is fairly good, not remarkable but good.
Highpoints are Iman Vellani as Ms Marvel
Tumblr media
Her Kamala Khan is great, the beating heart. Itself worth the price of admission.
Close second best is Monica Rambeau played by Teyonah Parris
Tumblr media
She might be because I have read that Captain Marvel in the 1980s, as my Son did not care for the character.
This also has some innovative visuals and ideas. And not just in synchronized fight scenes.
Tumblr media
But... It is not all good. In Captain Marvel movie many were butt-hurr by Brie Larson and her Carol Danvers. And that will remain. There are character growth points that are half-assed. I get studio cowardice and playing it safe and not risking alienating audience.
This takes risks, but not enough in my opinion. There is also to me the so far worst Marvel scene where Dosneyfication goes way too far. There is a point of using music or singing in movies, something Disney has not understood in about last fifty years.
It is good, worse than Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 or Blue Beetle, much better than Flash.

Reading Chalice of the Gods gave me such mixed feelings. On one hand, I was happy to see Percabeth, but on the other, I think seriously important parts of their relationship weren't there. Also, I miss Scary Percy (but i get that trauma might be getting him to act goofy now that he has kind of a break). Also I liked the epic-feeling ending we previously got for the kids, that they're on adventures but finished the Gaea-scary stuff. Idk if I like this new story.

RIP Marvel Cinematic Universe
Watched Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness yesterday.  Pretty much hated everything in it.  So much squandered opportunity, poor writing, and wasteful character management.  Between this and the end of Spiderman No Way Home, I think I'm probably done with Marvel films, at least any that aren’t done by Taika Waititi (because Thor: Love and Thunder was worthy - not the best but definitely not the worst Thor film).
