uhhhhh so yeah, basically during the premiere for 'don't worry darling' in venice (maybe it was last year or maybe it was 2022??? idk), harry styles was seen on camera allegedly "spitting" on chris pine (who later stated up that's not what happened) and it and other things from the press conference went viral. chris had pretty much no idea 'spitgate' was happening until his publicist told him on the flight back he had to make a statement on it.

I had already been a fan of Florence Pugh and was following her on Instagram, so I guess that's why I got recommended lots of clips of the whole DWD shenanigan during the 2022 Biennale. I had been aware that Harry and OW were supposed to be in a relationship and hadn't questioned it at all because I wasn't invested, but those videos and the whole spitgate thing didn't add up, so I looked him up a bit, got recommended the Cosmic Leeds videos and reels of X factor fetus clips and that was it for me! Guess I wouldn't be a Larrie right now if that ridiculous PR stunt had never happened!

I haven’t thought about Harry since he attended a film festival and he spit on Chris Pine and the internet erupted! But since Larrie’s are bringing up the topic, pls remember the for HS2, Sony spent $40 million to promote him. God only knows what did HS1 & HS3 cost. Louis being Louis and achieving success against all odds is beautiful. Harries will literally pay $10 for a water at MSG and mock Louis for affordable ticket prices while he gives away water. Is that self hatred????

While I feel like overexposure and negativity that comes with it is bad it is kind of has a silver lining to it. Being everywhere helps to broaden your audience and give your name and music a publicity that can't be achieved in any other way. While it is bad negativity spreads faster than positivity. This is the situation of all publicity is good publicity. And for every 5 people that hates 1 person will checkout his music. And considering the bad publicity in harry's case was spitgate and dwd gossip I'd say it's not as bad and people won't remember it once he goes away . I feel like harry broadened his audience worldwide and no longer has his fame concentrated in uk us. I am an Indian and I was shocked by the amount of my friends who used harry's house songs for their status and story. It is really hard for other foreign musicians to break into this market. Now 90% of my friends know who harry styles is. Harry's house had a worldwide impact that most albums in 2022 didn't have. And not a lot of celebrities gets overexposed no matter how much news time they get. It's simply not being able to escape them IRL or SM. You already have to be huge to be overexposed but reaching there means you are in a completely different level than most of the peers. Harry being inescapable means he is already in that level.
i think the negativity is also far more dramatized, and somewhat more limited to, america (and the uk). all of this stuff is just perpetuated in an outsized way here, and i don't feel that international audiences are particularly concerned about some of that noise. you're very right about publicity - social media can amplify the negativity, but it isn't a true reflection of reality/life, and the hateful people are LOUD, but they're typically not a majority. the people who feel positively can be far more laid back, may not be directly involved with the "fandom," and so on, whereas the space of stan twitter is fundamentally comprised of reactive people, so you've got the mega fans and the haters on either side fighting, and it leads to a combative atmosphere, but not a balanced one. bad publicity spreads quickly, it also passes fairly quickly (when it's something that isn't actually serious, that's a different discussion, of course!). whereas positive publicity and establishing one's character and artistry lasts.
I feel like harry broadened his audience worldwide and no longer has his fame concentrated in uk us...Harry's house had a worldwide impact that most albums in 2022 didn't have. oh for sure! it was really The Album of last year pop culturally. they used AIW in celebrations around the world!!! and i really enjoy hearing your perspective from india, it's so cool to know a bit about the way he's broken through there. he definitely reached another level of fame and recognition, and that comes with both unfortunate downsides and great upsides. the people who are taking shots right now will mostly burn out and move on to something else to complain about, and like i've said before, the people who like him and care about that and enjoy his music are going to stick, and that's what matters.

And Kete wasn't the only duo to call it quits. Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone splitafter four years together, while Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde ended their romance following months of speculation about just what happened on the set of their movie, Don't Worry Darling. (Remember #Spitgate?)
Also in the Kardashian-verse, Kim's sister Kendall Jenner became a free agent after her breakup, reconciliation and breakup with basketballer Devin Booker. But Kourtney Kardashian got in the marriage game, tying the knot with Travis Barker in Las Vegas. And then Santa Barbara. And then Italy.
Yet, one of the most talked about celebrity moments of the year involved a couple that will celebrate 25 years of marriage on New Year's Eve. Yep, we're talking about the slap. Will Smith—now infamously—hit comedian Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars over an insensitive joke about wife Jada Pinkett Smith, later apologizing and resigning from the Academy over the outburst.

"I'm super proud of myself and I've never thought I'd ever be able to say that in my lifetime," Mary told Apple Music after the showstopper. The most talked-about moment in recent award show memory came courtesy of Will Smith's anger. He slapped Oscars presenter Chris Rock over a "G.I. Jane" joke the comedian made about Will's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who struggles with hair loss and has been candid about her alopecia.

Though a source told E! News that Jason had "no prior knowledge" about when or how she would be served, Olivia later accused him of purposely embarrassing her at the event.

Broadway's biggest drama of the year saw Lea Michele step in to play Fanny Brice in Funny Girl after Beanie Feldstein bowed out early.

However, four months later, Candace made headlines talking about her new gig as chief creative officer at the Great American Family network, and noting their goals to "keep traditional marriage at the core" of its programs. JoJo, a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, responded, saying, "to purposely exclude someone because of who they love, that's s--tty."

Sheri Easterling—mom to TikTok star Addison Rae—attended the award show with Yung Gravy, who she was seen smooching on the red carpet. However, their PDA-packed outing got a little more buzz than the duo expected.

Spitgate Explodes Amid All That Don't Worry Darling Drama
Don't worry darling, we're still obsessed with this story.
Fueled by the belief star Florence Pugh seemed reticent to promote the flick, fans became convinced that drama went down on set when director Olivia Wilde began dating her leading man Harry Styles.
The gossip ramped up this year when Florence skipped some press appearances at the Venice Film Festival in September, due to a scheduling conflict.
Then came spitgate: A viral clip of Harry appearing to spit in co-star Chris Pine's lap at the movie's premiere.
Chris' rep denied that spitgate happened. Harry joked about the incident at his concert. The cinematographer denied the set was anything but "harmonious." And Olivia shut down "untruths," telling Elle, "Florence had a really wise comment that we didn't sign up for a reality show."
The film finally hit theaters in September. As an epilogue, Olivia and Harry broke up in November after two years together.

Adam Levine Denies He Had an Affair
While expecting baby No. 3 with wife Behati Prinsloo, Adam Levine faced cheating allegations from 23-year-old model Sumner Stroh.
The Maroon 5 front man denied having an affair, but admitted to questionable behavior. "I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner," Adam said in a statement in September. "I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period of my life."
He continued, "My wife and my family is all I care about in this world... To be this naïve and stupid enough to risk the only thing that truly matters to me was the greatest mistake I could ever make."

Nick Cannon Welcomes 4 Kids in 6 Months
Nick Cannon welcomed four children in 2022 and with one more on the way, he'll soon have an even dozen. Joining the roster: Son Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi in June, daughter Onyx Ice with LaNisha Cole in September and son Rise Messiah with Brittany Bell just nine days later.
He and Abby De La Rosa welcomed baby girl Beautiful Zeppelin in November, right around the time Alyssa Scott announced she was pregnant with Nick's 12th child.

No one was feeling '22 more than Taylor Swift, who earned her honorary doctorate degree at NYU in May, released her 10th studio album Midnights in October and became the first artist to ever claim the entire top 10 of Billboard's Hot 100 in a single week. The "22" singer proceeded to announce her upcoming tour (which broke the internet and—later—Ticketmaster).
Other major music moments this year? Beyoncé released her highly anticipated seventh album Renaissance in July, Adele finally kicked off her Las Vegas residency and Bad Bunny was named Spotify's No. 1 most-streamed artist of the year, setting the record by topping the list for the third consecutive year.
