Happy FFWF, my lovely friend 🥰 I apologize in advance for the deluge of notifications today, cause I’m gonna be answering all your asks finally!!

But I love this question! It’s such a good one! I think I’ll write a limerick for my most recent fic, Welcome Home My Boy (Welcome Home My Son) where Tony decided (with some help from Pepper) to take in a few orphans at a run-down orphanage while it gets renovated and updated, and one of those orphans is none other than a little Peter Parker 🥰

Stark’s life was never so full

Pete’s life was getting quite dull

Some months together

And, two birds of a feather,

They became two halves of one whole

OKAY so tumblr swallowed my first ask whole :( so ill do it again. on my laptop instead. 

But. Anon...ur a genius...so smart...too smart. this could be too good, know?

God. 

Jason: GAA lad, of course. Plays county and he will tell you this. He plays county with football and only club with hurling. He’s a pure GAA Lad. He doesn’t drink, eats full course meals for every meal and goes to the local gym every day. He plays with the school and is the captain. He wears O’Neills and Jack and Jones. He’s got that hair-cut, the curls and the short at the side? But despite how straight-laced he seems, he’s kind. Popular, but he’s got a few close friends and that’s it. He helps people with their work and never has a mean word to say. He does bag-packing in Supervalu for charities. He’s a good catch and many a girl want him as their debs date. His family is rich, too, so he goes to those summer colleges in the Gaeltacht. He’s still pretty bad at gaeilge though. Which is a shame cause he’s basically a fenian. His Dad is from Derry (bogside) and it shows sometimes. He goes to mass every Sunday and knows the Father by name, but religion doesn't seem for him. He wants to be a primary school teacher and everyone knows he’ll get a sports scholarship to go to UL. He’s a swot but he’s sound out, at the same time. Unironically listens to kneecap. 

Leo: Boy-racer with a suped up Mitsubishi. He fixed it up himself but it keeps getting taking by the gardaí. He is a public menace on dark country roads. He’s a lads lad, who vapes in the bathrooms with the stolls and drinks naggins in bushes before trying to sneak into a night club. Class clown, but nice enough if you can get him on his own. But he’s also smart. Too smart. Trinity bound, or even further. 625 on the lc, with higher-level maths, physics, and chemistry. An absolute dosser, but he’s always got the homework and if you can find him on his own, he’s nice enough. He and Jason are a strange match in friends. He wears Jason’s O’Neill’s jumpers and people pretend not to stare. Leo, like most teens in Ireland, has been familiar with a bottle of vodka for a while. He’s that absolute weapon you see on Instagram getting their picture with a garda at Longitude, vodka hidden in a bottle of Lucozade. Mexican-American mom from the states but born and raised in Ireland. Buys all his clothes from Pennys. Can’t be assed to go anywhere else. He doesn’t play any club sport at all. He’s banned from the local church for accidentally decapitating the Holy Mary during his confirmation. He has a thick cork accent, calls his house a “gaff” and gets “langered while he’s gatting”. He adores The Academic and Fontaines D.C. Though, like most people, he’s enamored with The Rubberbandits. 

Piper: Addidas Superstars, ofc. Jack and Jones hoddies she stole from Jason. Air maxes. She also buys a lot from St Vincent DePaul’s charity shops. Captain of the schools debate team and she sells fake IDs on her snapchat as a side-hustle. Her Dad moved them to Ireland when Piper was around 7 cause he got a job with RTE or something. She hangs in the art-room most days and almost won Junkoture when she was 16. She lets Leo drunkenly cut her hair every few months and it leaves them both in stitches. She was also the Queen of loom bands as a child and still makes friendship bracelets for them all out her loom band collection. Piper also plays Camogie with her school, but that’s just because she has a crush on the captain. Both her and Leo are the only ones who go on the sesh. Jason stays at home and watches re-runs of home and away every Friday night. She has a noticeable American accent and gets called a yank or tourist a lot. Piper would kill men for EDEN and The Cranberries. 

Also: it has to take place in cork city. dublin sucks, galway city is like seven streets and limerick is literally called stab city.

Week 2

First week of my maybe classes is done and over. I found out Tuesday night that a class (which has been preapproved by the university) I wanted to take I couldn’t because we don’t allow pass/fail classes (I checked and this class has only been offered as a pass/fail, but like whatever I guess). So I had to pick a different class which only meets later on Mondays (1400-1700), which is okay because I can come back from weekend trips early Monday and I’ll be fine. So Monday I’ll have to go to that class and get added to the SULIS page so that it officially becomes part of my class list. Other than that, my classes seem real chill. Most of them have an essay/group project and a final exam and that’s it. No quizzes/tests in between really (expect the small possibility in my Major Author class). My major author class, we are studying (drumroll) Marilynne Robinson. The prof thought it would be a cool person to read since she’s American... nice. It’s not too bad, we got a week to read the first book (it’s a little less than 250 pages, so it’s not long at all). LIO (Limerick Inside Out) is a volunteer module I get credit for and it’s all about doing community service projects around Limerick and downtown Limerick. It seems really cool and a lot of fun, so I’m excited. My psych class I’m super excited for and then my Celtic and Civ class seems okay. It’s a mix of learning about the kings and other history stuff and the other half of the 2-hour lecture is all about folklores and oral traditions, which interests me much more. On another note, I did the Ring of Kerry today. There was some really cool water-type pictures and we stopped at the ocean again, which is always one of my favourites. There were a lot of cool little stops, my favourite being either Waterville or Sneem. It was a good, cute little day trip. Next week (early Friday morning) I will be on my way to Germany to visit a real good friend of mine who is studying in Marburg for the semester. I will be spending the weekend with him (I’m going to the Frankfurt Zoo while I’m there, which is def something I’m really looking forward to) and I think he said he wanted to do some hiking on Saturday and we aren’t sure what we’re going to do on Sunday yet. I will eventually have to go back or stop in Heidelberg one weekend when I’m near Germany to meet my other friend, who I met at WHS when I was a senior since he studied abroad during his HS years. Anyways, I’m excited to see my friend and visit him for the weekend. Plane ticket was really cheap (€9.99 each way!) So it’s not too bad to go visit him for the long weekend and it saves me more money since I don’t need to pay for a hostel. I’ve also started planning my spring break trip with some of my friends I’ve met here for Italy. It is packed, but it is also going to be so much fun, I cannot wait. Hoping tomorrow I figure out when my friend Madi wants to do Paris (+ Disney) and London (HP mostly) so that my travel companion and I can figure out the rest of our trips. Once everything is planned, I’ll probably post dates where I’m expected to be so that everyone can keep up. Not planning on bringing my laptop with me on weekend excursions, only for Italy so that I can update daily on what I did and what’s to come and all that fun stuff. I will post pics of today later tonight!

Ah.. I don't know if this is a dumb question or not.. but I recently saw an amazing production of a Shakespeare show and I've been in Macbeth for my senior year of hs but I've noticed that in both of those performances.. we didn't really have iambic pentameter.. so my question here is are actors when performing Shakespeare SUPPOSED to have that iambic pentameter rhythm?

More traditional productions will really abide by that meter, or scansion as we call it.  But it’s not just about making it sound like a limerick by exaggerating the syllables--there is an art to studying the meter of a line!  For instance, if there’s an extra beat, adding it up to 11 syllables instead of 10, it’s called a feminine ending, which has its own implications.  Each piece of punctuation has significance, each change in emphasis...  It’s pretty fascinating!  More contemporary productions may not pay much attention to scansion, because there is a reputation for it getting in the way of the language if it is just static and dry speaking.  It still needs to be alive, and true masters of Shakespeare can balance both.  They can honor the scansion and study the lines while still making it feel real and alive!  So I guess the answer is...  There is no “supposed to” in theatre.  But if you’re ignoring the scansion of a Shakespeare piece, you’re missing out on some really juicy analysis and meaning!
