Miguel O'Hara Theory

@nerdyenby had a post about Miguel O'Hara being a spider but not a Spider-Man.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've been on tumblr enough to know that he's the newest and biggest hot Internet crush and also babygirl?? (I guess I see the appeal, but he's kinda meh. Don't come at me, I'm getting off topic).

ANYWAY

All this being said, the fact that he's a type of vampiric-being and does all the injections and whatever that "keep his vampire instincts at bay" makes sense, but nerdyenby's post mentioned how maybe he's using all the Spider-people's DNA to make his injection because he seems to be a bit of an anomaly.

Despite not seeing the movie yet, I have read many of the Spider-Verse comics (Patton Parnell's issue traumatized me, this is why I have a fear of spiders).

I don't remember a lot about Miguel O'Hara (other than many of his multiverse selves being killed), BUT obviously the movies aren't an exact adaptation of the comics (no hate, just an observation, and maybe a choice for the better because I think having an on-screen Patton Parnell would raise concerns).

So, if they're taking liberties with the comics, you know who else is a vampiric-being in the Spider-Verse?

(SPOILERS for the Spider-Verse comics)

THESE GUYS (The Inheritors)

Okay, hear me out.

So what I know from Across the Spider-Verse is that they're being hunted by The Spot (similar to the Inheritors hunting the Spider-people). There haven't been mentions of the Inheritors in the movie as far as I'm aware.

In the comics, the Inheritors basically weaken, capture, and consume the Spider-people. Their goal is to destroy all Spider-people (or Spider totems as they call them) and use their life forces.

(WARNING, light comic book violence/gore depicted, disturbing images)

The Inheritors feed on the Spider-people's life forces. They're pretty invincible and not even Cosmic Spider-Man (Earth-13) could defeat them when he left his Earth. Cosmic Spider-Man and his Enigma Force was the only thing keeping the Inheritors from their safe haven, but as soon as he left, they decimated him.

I mean, look. Morlun (one of the Inheritors) is walking through fire.

This Inheritor is taking the arm off of Takuya Yamashiro's (Earth-51778) mech, Leopardon.

So, the Inheritors are invincible and super strong. Miguel O'Hara has a unique skill set such as super strength as well as being abnormal to the usual requirements for Spider-people as state in nerdyenby's post.

Is Miguel O'Hara an Inheritor, or akin to one?

Don't take this as me saying that he is; I just see the similarities. Again, I have yet to watch the movie, and I don't remember all the details from the Spider-Verse comics, but the post reminded me of the Inheritors. Of course, we don't know where the sequel is going to go, but that's my two bits.

I have another AU on my hands! Yay! And no idea where to take it! Double-yay!

anyways. to sort my thoughts but also if anyone wants to chime in PLEASE do my brain is too empty recently.

Main duo are ATSV!Hobie and Comics!Hobie. They're funny okay, let them cause C H A O S. Comics!Miguel is there basically anytime they mess with the Spider Society because damn if he doesn't want to deck ATSV!Miguel for good.

Billy and Anya are gonna be there bc they, well, they're the leaders of the Web-Warriors. And I think ATSV!Hobie and Billy would have a blast with another British spider-man around.

Also Karn. Because I love Karn, okay? Let it be a little messed up and filled with anxiety and guilt and all-seeing bc Master Weaver. (also it/its pronouns). And Noir, because he's also a silly miserable little guy and he and Hobie are absolutely besties. At some point in the, uh, future, SV!Noir will also show up. I'm a 19 yo Noir-truther but imagine comics!Noir calling ISTV!Noir old,,,,,, they'd be bloody hilarious. Correction, will be, if once I get there.

Semi-regular appearances will be Lady Spider because I love her and her aesthetic and the Pavitrs bc they're so different from one another?? dunno if i'll have them meet but ATSV!Hobie sure knows both of em. Also also also I might let ATSV get into the plot as well? I'm ignoring spider-geddon bc no and also I can't find the comics, but ATSV??? Bonus Gwen learning that there's another Gwen Stacy out there who did get a good ending (idk if i'll write comics!Gwen on screen tho tbh). The ATSV and ITSV gang get introduced to some of the Web-Warriors. The Spider Society learns that what's really messing with those worlds isn't "cAnOn" being disrupted but the fact that their tech messes with the strands of the Web.

And then idk. i don't have any idea for a plot. i desperately need a plot. please helpp me i'm obsessed but my brain won't plot

I've been totally fixated on the fact that gwen stays with hobie when she's not on spider-team missions so here's some fun notes

gwen says that hobie lets her crash in his universe- not "house" or "place" or "apartment", because hobie is homeless

she wears his chucks (how is she fitting into his shoes?) which is funny because hobie's original spider-punk costume included him wearing chucks, but in the movie he only wears boots

in the comics, the gwen stacy of earth-138 was, in hobie's words, "the greatest artist of [their] generation" who died a punk-rock legend, and hobie was/is a big fan of hers. gwen thinks his universe is cool and thinks it's extra cool that she's famous there, so his universe is probably something of a comfort place for her

gwen is apparently in his band (possibly his friend group which he calls the spider-band despite the fact that they're not actually a band and the others are not spideys), though gwen once rejected hobie's proposal of making an album together because his singing voice is awful (still, this was after they saved the world by playing punk rock together)

also, it's interesting to read "coming out as a superhero" as a queer allegory and it works in this situation as it parallels queer kids being kicked out of their homophobic homes and staying with friends in the aftermath

anyways. support the gwen and hobie besties agenda <3
